Help me! Android Oreo Can't disable navigation bar - Samsung Galaxy S8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

My phone was on android 7.0, deleted the navigation bar and yesterday I went to android 8.0 can not delete the navigation bar anymore. Can someone show me how to delete navigation bar on android 8 ? Thanks very much.

Read this thread, i found workaround there. However, you must have twrp installed. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/themes/how-to-completely-disable-navbar-oreo-t3736272

You can use an app over on the play store known as "SystemUI Tuner" and you can toggle immersive mode fully, nav bar only (which is what you're looking for), and status bar only. You can do that after giving permissions via ADB or root access grant, if possible.

Forgot to add a screenshot of the app, you could plausibly use it at your will. I don't know if it will work since i don't have oreo myself but i believe it has support for it.

nova launcher has an option hide the nav bar, that's if you use nova of course.
I had a similar problem and nova fixed it.

Just tested it right now. The nav bar does pop out when you're using the keyboard and when you have the notification panel dropped down.

Did someone found a way to hide the navbar while the keyboard or notification panel is present? Well annoying this is!

I'm with you in dying for a Nexus 5 (and nexus 6) custom rom to have immersive mode/expanded desktop. Cyanogenmod is working on it, but even as of today (11/29), it's not in any builds made from unofficial CM12. The only thing to hold you over until a dev puts this in is that there is a an app from GMD for immersive mode. I don't like how it works (and requires an in-app purchase to make a line go away) so I don't use it and rather wait "patiently" for expanded desktop/immersive mode on custom roms, but it's there.

First u have to install LMT launcher (tap lmt launcher xda on google and u will find the app).
Second u have to configure LMT launcher which is PIE Control.
And third u have to install root browser and add this line at the end of system build.prop : qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Make sure LMT launcher is well configurated because it's not possible to bring back the original navbar after this.
Hope I helped u.

Any chance of being able to just hide the notification bar? So that it's still available like in-app immersive? Really like that the nav bar don't come up by the way, thx for that.
Edit - I'm doing this on a grouper. Just being point in the right direction would be great. But I got a feeling that what i'm asking is a little more complicated....

I use LMT for pie (works great) and the hide navbar method of qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in build.prop same as you.
But it is possible to bring back the navbar launcher. Just navigate to your build.prop and delete the text you added "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" then reboot.

U can use a third part launcher as Nova to hide the notification bar on desktop and drawer but impossible to hide this one when u open an app.
I use Chrome Beta and the 3 dots reappears.

Thanks for the chrome beta advice! And with all respect would never switch from GELauncher to any other launcher! Its swift, fast & efficient!
I do miss the Gravity Box module & the whole xposed installer!
Wish I was a smart developer and could help xposed get on lollipop soon!

Missed xposed too. Still no news from devs of xposed. Hope something will arrive as a gift for 2015 .

Notification/Status Bar in Android 6

Is there a way to disable the annoying "feature" of transparent status bar? I've been searching for days and am only finding Xposed modules recommended or status bar replacement apps but I just want to disable the transparency, nothing else. Is there a way to do in Android V6 (Marshmallow) on Samsung Touchwiz?

it s default on android 6.0 system UI so you have use a 3rd party tool or app to disable it.
like nova launcher > setting > looks & feel > disable transparent notification bar
there is no setting in Android System itself

Damn, so much for Android being the OS of "options". Another IOS, here we come?
Is there any other app you are aware of instead of a full-blown launcher? Something simpler?

Got it. Did that, thanks man. Is there a way to disable the "expansion" of notifications by default? After I rooted, all notifications are showing expanded. It used to take a two-finger swipe down to expand each but now they just all show up like that by default. And I'm not even able to collapse them. They start collapsing when I do two-finger swipe up but go back to their expanded mode when let go.

No.
technically when there is expanded option for a notification so user may need to do something! >> it s useful
to collapse it two-finger swipe up should work just make sure put two finger correctly!

The two finger swipe looks like it's gonna happen with the notification starting to collapse as expected but then expands back when the fingers are released. It will not stay collapsed. And they are ALL expanded by default, even a silly screenshot notification and other notifications that didn't used to be expanded before I rooted but are now.

Question about the latest update?

Hello!
So I just have a quick question about the latest update for the S8, where they removed black as an option for the Navbar color and enabled us to hide it (immersive mode).
Whenever you hide the navbar, how does the "swipe up" gesture work in reality? As in how "good" does it work? I remember (before the update) trying the immersive mode with Custom Navigation bar (app), and the swipe up gesture was bad, whenever I tried to get the navbar up, I was scrolling up in the app I was using as well..?

It works great. Much easier than previously. And here's a link on Reddit to get Black NavBar back, it works and is safe.

Nice! But how much different is that from this: https://www.xda-developers.com/change-galaxy-s8-navigation-bar-color/amp/ ?
I'd rather use ADB than download an apk from an unknown source

It's just easier than ADB, if you don't have the sdk downloaded or not around a PC. I used ADB to get rid of the battery icon in the status bar. The apk is just an overlay like all of these.

[GUIDE] How to use the Google Pixel navigation on the Mi A2 Lite (PixelExperience P)

Hello everybody!
I've the Unofficial PixelExperience P GSI on my Mi A2 Lite, but there was only the normal navigation bar, which we already know from the official Android 8-Stock Rom. So I searched for a possibility to use the Pixel navigation.
I found an official XDA-article about this navigation feature for the OnePlus 6, so I tried it on my Mi A2 Lite and it works!!
The only thing to do is, that you have to enable "USB-Debugging" in the developer options. And make sure that you allow the ADB-connection on your phone. Than you must run this command in ADB on your computer:
adb shell settings put secure swipe_up_to_switch_apps_enabled 1
If you did this you can close ADB and remove your phone from the computer.
If you want more information about this, here's the official article: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6-google-pixel-gestures-android-p/
It works perfectly for me, so I think it should also works for you. I don't know if it works also for other Roms (GSIs) or the Stock Rom, but maybe somebody can test it
I hope you like my little "guide"!
- and sorry for my bad englisch
good guide sir
but if you like navigation gestures you should really check out this app 'fluid navigation gestures' in play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid
i think its better then Pie navigation because you can hide navigation bar and have 100% fullscreen
Are you serious?... You can go to setting, gesture and turn the new navigation bar on....

No, because I haven't this setting
There are 2 Bugs with this solution.
1. After every restart you have to enable the bar again.
2. If the NavBar Background changes from black to white you won't see the 3 buttons again which is pretty annoying.

I confirm that this is a better solution. I'm using this. The gestures are similar to MIUI. No Root, no Bootloader unlocked, only one line of code to hide the navigation bar.

Autohide status bar in every application

Is it possible to ensure that the StatusBar can hide automatically and then be recalled with a swype from top to bottom? For example, I installed the launcher Agama (very nice) and on the launcher this function is active... I find the status bar rather useless, and especially on some apps, like Google Maps, is very annoying.
@Malaysk, can you enable this function in your next rom?
How did you get on finding a solution.

sorry, I did not understand, you have applied this change via xposed and not via terminal? because I still have a small problem, the status bar does not disappear when I have the screen divided in two ... and it is rather annoying
Someone can help me? I need to autohide the status bar when the display is divided in 2
