[Q] AudioOut_4 Partial Wakelock on ViperXL ROM - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi all,
I've got a lot of AudioOut_4 Partial Wakelock on ViperXL ROM. It drains like half of my battery.
Does anyone have any idea how to eliminate it? I have searched XDA but found no solution.

Usually it is from a media player. I would suggest force closing all of them. If that doesn't work, reboot and see if it is still there.

I know it has something to do with the speakers -- but even when I use no media player and force close all opening apps it still happens. A reboot may help preventing this wakelock for a while, but after about 5 minutes it will continue to happen. Any ideas?

this thread is on the international one x forum but it can be applied to any android phone.
It's most probably a media player app, it's a popular wakelock. Post back when you figure it out.

do u use the latest version of viber? it was the one causing the audio wakelocks for me..
i noticed that if it launched automatically after boot even force closing it sometimes doesnt stop the wakelock until rebooting with it disabled..

Thank you exad and jjblaster3, I will try disabling viber and some other apps and report back soon.
UPDATE: installing the latest version of Viber and Skype seems to resolve this problem for me.

[Q] restarting happening with high CPU usage on ICS stock

I am on stock rooted ICS, and nearly every time I update apps, if more than one is updating, then it will restart itself. I'm not sure if Lookout antivirus could be causing this with scanning after every install, but I wanted to check.
Also, I want to know about any possible answers as to updating when it stops about halfway on updates, and it waits a while to continue the download?

Lookout doesn't get along with ICS. It used to cause freezing every time it scanned an app. Its really only useful if you are downloading apps not from the play store.
And updates shouldn't go to 100% it only downloads the specific pieces needed to update.

I can say this, the play store apps update has definitely got some issue post ICS OTA i.e if the screen times out the app update hangs midway, etc etc. only resolution is wait up keeping the screen active until all apps have updated fully. I am using Avast while on GB and even now as well as Apps2SD (SamLu). This is surely a bug.

I haven't heard of anybody having this problem. I know for a fact mine updates with the screen locked because I set everything to update automatically and I always wake up to at least one notification that something updated successfully.

See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32568467#poststop
& as I quoted there I will try and see what occurs if I set apps to auto update. Will not be a permanent thing though cause I don't want update wakelocks sucking the battery & it'll just be to figure out if it'd help.

OP - Your subject "high CPU usage" does not chime with your actual question about updates of apps. & as I mentioned there is already a thread which I posted in here on the same. FYI

I hadn't seen that thread, I'm sorry. You could try disabling auto screen off and see if that changes anything. I've got my battery tweaked out so the wakelocks don't really affect me as much as they should.
My only other suggestion would be to clear play store data and uninstall the updates for it. I generally do that to force it to update, and it may just be an outdated version causing issues. Current version is 3.9.16

Okay, so I am definitely thinking that the restarting is due to high CPU usage. It happened after I uninstalled Lookout and installed Avast which also scanned after each install. Now, I tried running a few other processes after I disabled Avast's scan after every install. I can produce the same result: a reboot because of what I suspect to be high CPU usage. It did not do this before the OTA update, so I think it might be somewhat due to the OTA overclocking to 1200Mhz. I might try to underclock it to see if that helps.
I will try messing with the deep sleep stuff too, but it even happens when the screen stays on, so I am not sure if this is the cause.

No issues and thanks for your helpful inputs, how do I go about clearing the play store data? All I see is "clear search history". The Play store ver what I have is 3.9.16. There are also two settings which are greyed out i.e "Unlock settings" & "use pin for purchases". Don't know if other users have this same as me?

For clearing Play Store data (or any other application data for that matter) just go to System Settings>manage applications>find Google Play Store>select "clear data option"...

Download won't stop

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know what to do? For the last hour this notification in my drop down shows "Facebook (build 141046)" but it doesn't appear to actually be downloading and it won't go away. It's not the app installing an update (or doesn't appear to be). I've "force stopped" it and restarted my phone but it comes right back. Very frustrating.

On a Rogers/AT&T S3 with CM10. I'm seeing the same bug. I've tried uninstalling facebook, reboot, and a clear data on the play store. No luck getting it to go away yet.

Try turning on wifi and connect to a wifi spot it worked for me. no idea what it was but its gone now.
Going to copy my message that I just posted over on android central I was headed here to ask if anyone had anymore info.
"I had this issue as well. Turning on wifi seemed to complete the download and I was prompted to install this new build. Apparently one of the new features as shown in the screencaps above is downloading via wifi. But it looks like the with this build the facebook app will be able to download files without any notification. So basically just like this build began without any action on my part in the future the same will happen only I won't even get an notification. I've looked around for a bit more information and haven't come up with anything. This 'update' seems to be standalone from the actual app, no ability to update from the play store and opening the facebook app doesn't trigger the update screen. so i'm declining to install this for now.
one of the tips on the AC forum to get rid of the notification was to hold the notification and press app info and then force stop download manager, the same with simply force stoping the download manager app if you version doesn't allow for the press and hold. The notifcation apparently comes back later.
Also worth noting this is happening on my Galaxy Nexus running on T-mobile

After some mucking around, this appears to have worked (so far). I also did a clear data on the download manager and play store.
I just long press it, app info, and just clear data. That fixed for me.
Thanks for the responses. I was able to connect to wi-fi at Subway during lunch and immediately it went away. As usual, quick responses from XDA folks and problem solved!

Does anyone know what caused this? It freaked me out at first, but I was glad to find others running into the same problem.
I just went to Downloads and deleted the download.

That worked on my stock Incredible 4G. App drawer> Downloads> check the Facebook download and tap the trash can.
Thanks for the info. Worked for me after four hours of "downloading". It was driving me crazy plus it ate up quite a bit of battery.
Thanks

My gut says that this may well be the source of the issue:
seattletimes.com/html/businesstechnology/2020547460_apusnetflixfacebook.html?prmid=4748
Seems weird that it wouldn't simply push as an app update through the Play Store though.

Media Server wakelock caused by Snapchat

I've seen some people having trouble with the "Mediaserver" sucking up their battery on the Moto g. I found out what is is, but I don't know how to fix it.
It's caused by a wakelock called "qcamera2factory" and it always starts when I use Snapchat, an app most of you guys should know and probably use. So the "qcamera2factory" starts every time I open Snapchat for the first time after forcing to "kill" Media Server with an app called "Mediaserver killer" and if I don't kill it that way, it just keeps on adding time to the "keep wake" on the battery screen.
It sucks that I can't use Snapchat and I really want a fix for it. Can someone on here help me with this?
Thanks in advance, I would really apreciate it!
fyi: I don't have snapchat but the last 2 days I had the same wakelock from qcamera2factory, solved by clearing data on media storage, force stopping camera and gallery and a reboot, since I don't have root atm.

What do you mean by clearing data and forece stopping gallery? Thanks for your reply
settings/applications/all, search for the names I mentioned, and click on them and you will see the 'clear data' and 'force close' buttons

It's not caused by Snapchat, it just appears sometimes when you use the camera. I had this wakelock twice and in both cases I was just making photos, I don't have Snapchat installed.
Happened to me with Focal (beta) camera, and skype. Seems to be something buggy with camera apps
Had this wakelock as well. Turned out to be Skype. Uninstalled and everything Is good.
Who'da thunk a Microsoft app would degrade the performance of an Android phone?

Have you clean flashed this nightly?
If not, clean flash it.
If it is, then try to disable that app from App Info or force stop if there is no disable option available.

Music bug since the update of 5.1.1

Everytime when I turn off my screen while listening with headphones on or off, my music disrupts after a period of 6 seconds.
Now I have tried a various things to fix it, and strangely enough disabling the lock screen (any type of security ) fixes this issue)
Might any of you know a better alternative to make my life easier? I don't want to leave my phone insecured for the sake of listening to music.
Thank you.

Reflash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.
Have you (TS) tried the solution provided above? I'm experiencing the bug as well. It's really irritating.
I managed to fix the problem by clearing the system cache. Just boot into odin, clear the cache and restart the phone.
(I didn't reflash the stock rom)

Thanks for the reply. When you mean boot into odin, did you mean recovery? I have done that as well, but it seems that it didn't fix the problem for me.
To add another solution to this bug, I downloaded and flashed the stock ROM for my phone. Apparently, it fixed the bug.
Yes that's what I meant, sorry for the confusion. I might as well do the same. Thanks for the heads up !

Heya, sorry to bring this topic back again to life. Apparently, the fix was only temporary. The bug reappeared after a few hours. I might try a clean install just to see if this gets fixed.
Edit: My device model number is SM-G920F

Do you have greenify installed and have the music app set to greenify? Also are you using the built in close app feature? The one found in battery stats. If so do you have the app set to auto kill? This feature kills all selected apps after a certain time of the screen being turned off.

I haven't installed Greenify yet on my S6. I had it on my S4, but it wasn't causing any problems at all. I checked the close app feature, and Music app wasn't placed there. The Music app crashes, it doesn't just close; without any warning message or whatever.
Update: I did a factory reset/data wipe via recovery mode, and used Odin to install a fresh 5.1.1. I tried the Music app, and it doesn't crash. I hope it wouldn't crash anymore.

Did the fresh install fixed the problem completely? I have it as well and it's super annoying, it will be super annoying to have to download my apps again but i will if it fixes the problem.

Unfortunately, it did not. To be exact, it fixed the problem for about a week, but the problem appeared again. Try using Power Amp music player, it's working well for me. I'm tempted to buy the full version after this trail version expires. Spending 1$ would be way better than getting annoyed all the time by the default music player.

The problems is i use play music because of the cloud feature, let's hope the Edge+ update fixes the problem, otherwise I'm going back to 5.0.2
