Since 17/5 Nightly i have huge battery draining caused by MediaServer.
It's the 1st time i have this kind of wakelock in my device and one other problem is that sometimes when i double tap the screen so to unlock the device i see the Media Player running.
Of course i don't have any song in my device, i don't listen music with my phone.
Is there any tip to fix this problem?
Am i the only one in here having this kind of issue?

Have you clean flashed this nightly?
If not, clean flash it.
If it is, then try to disable that app from App Info or force stop if there is no disable option available.

i updated this morning and i have barely five hours under my belt with 4.1.2, but i have found quite an annoying bug (i think). i have noticed that while listening to music (whole albums in general), every few songs, the phone will stop playing at the end of one song and it won't continue to the next song unless i actually turn on the screen, at which point it immediately picks up on the next song. and no, it's not at the end of an album or anything like that. also, if i go back and re-listen to that same song, it will generally continue on to the next song instead of stopping.
has anyone else encountered this issue in 4.1.2? i *never* had this issue with 4.1.1, not once, but now it has happened four times in the past hour.
i'm stock and unrooted. if i factory reset, will it revert me back to 4.0.4 or just wipe the slate clean with a fresh 4.1.2? this is enough of an annoyance to me that i would go back to ICS and update the phone only to 4.1.1, if that's possible.
Yeah, I had the same exact problem. Noticed it while playing music in car on the way to work. I ended up just copying my selct couple of songs to the SD card and just use the stock music player.
But long story short, I had that same exact problem. Turn on the screen, and the device would play the next track in list.
4.1.2 Latest Clean Rom is the rom Im running. Not sure if the AOSP roms have the same problem or not.
I am on clean ROM and have no such problem... My play music used to stop on stock ICS and JB. But on clean ROM it works great for me.

Just a shot in the dark but are you guys using ds battery saver or anything similar to kill running apps at certain times? I have to turn off ds when running Pandora or it does this. Don't use Google music too often though so Idk if it would do the same to it.
At this point, my phone is just one big tweak.

no, i don't use any sort of battery saver or task killer. i might be reverting back to 4.1.1 shortly. i really don't like the stock samsung music player, plus i have tunes up in the cloud.
That was a bug with Google Music previous update before this current one. Have you updated it lately? Previous fix for me was to uninstall updates and run the stock version that came with the phone but since the update which was last month I have not had any issues.

Happens to me all the time on 4.1.1 Eclipse TW. I believe it's just a bug with the Google Music app...but weird because it never ever happened on my gnex. Maybe the app doesn't like TW?

Hi all,
I've got a lot of AudioOut_4 Partial Wakelock on ViperXL ROM. It drains like half of my battery.
Does anyone have any idea how to eliminate it? I have searched XDA but found no solution.
Usually it is from a media player. I would suggest force closing all of them. If that doesn't work, reboot and see if it is still there.

I know it has something to do with the speakers -- but even when I use no media player and force close all opening apps it still happens. A reboot may help preventing this wakelock for a while, but after about 5 minutes it will continue to happen. Any ideas?

read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171461
this thread is on the international one x forum but it can be applied to any android phone.
It's most probably a media player app, it's a popular wakelock. Post back when you figure it out.
do u use the latest version of viber? it was the one causing the audio wakelocks for me..
i noticed that if it launched automatically after boot even force closing it sometimes doesnt stop the wakelock until rebooting with it disabled..
Thank you exad and jjblaster3, I will try disabling viber and some other apps and report back soon.
UPDATE: installing the latest version of Viber and Skype seems to resolve this problem for me.
Everytime when I turn off my screen while listening with headphones on or off, my music disrupts after a period of 6 seconds.
Now I have tried a various things to fix it, and strangely enough disabling the lock screen (any type of security ) fixes this issue)
Might any of you know a better alternative to make my life easier? I don't want to leave my phone insecured for the sake of listening to music.
Thank you.

Reflash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.
Have you (TS) tried the solution provided above? I'm experiencing the bug as well. It's really irritating.
I managed to fix the problem by clearing the system cache. Just boot into odin, clear the cache and restart the phone.
(I didn't reflash the stock rom)

Thanks for the reply. When you mean boot into odin, did you mean recovery? I have done that as well, but it seems that it didn't fix the problem for me.
To add another solution to this bug, I downloaded and flashed the stock ROM for my phone. Apparently, it fixed the bug.
Yes that's what I meant, sorry for the confusion. I might as well do the same. Thanks for the heads up !

Heya, sorry to bring this topic back again to life. Apparently, the fix was only temporary. The bug reappeared after a few hours. I might try a clean install just to see if this gets fixed.
Edit: My device model number is SM-G920F

Do you have greenify installed and have the music app set to greenify? Also are you using the built in close app feature? The one found in battery stats. If so do you have the app set to auto kill? This feature kills all selected apps after a certain time of the screen being turned off.

I haven't installed Greenify yet on my S6. I had it on my S4, but it wasn't causing any problems at all. I checked the close app feature, and Music app wasn't placed there. The Music app crashes, it doesn't just close; without any warning message or whatever.
Update: I did a factory reset/data wipe via recovery mode, and used Odin to install a fresh 5.1.1. I tried the Music app, and it doesn't crash. I hope it wouldn't crash anymore.

Did the fresh install fixed the problem completely? I have it as well and it's super annoying, it will be super annoying to have to download my apps again but i will if it fixes the problem.

Unfortunately, it did not. To be exact, it fixed the problem for about a week, but the problem appeared again. Try using Power Amp music player, it's working well for me. I'm tempted to buy the full version after this trail version expires. Spending 1$ would be way better than getting annoyed all the time by the default music player.

The problems is i use play music because of the cloud feature, let's hope the Edge+ update fixes the problem, otherwise I'm going back to 5.0.2
I know I am not the first one to post about this issue. I have searched, not only on xda, but some other websites. I just cannot find a solution. I am running 5.1.1 non rooted Stock ROM. I have tried everything. Enabled and Disabled a lot of settings. Nothing seems to work. 20% for that Android System is just too much. It started a week ago. Today I have Installed "Quick System Info PRO" and it shows that some "System_Server" is eating battery due to a high usage of RAM and Proccesor. See attachments please.
I am thinkg about updating my OPO, but I am not sure if this will help.
Did you find a solution? Do you know how to fix this? Please share your knowledge with me.
I used to plug and charge my OPO once every day and a half. But now I have to live with my charger inside my pockets because I am charging my phone every 10 hours.
There are any other apps? Also, try with android 6.0, might fix something.
Hi @srsdani.
Thank you for your reply. No. There are not any other apps eating battery. Mostly because I am at work, I use Whatsapp.
I should also mention that the phone gets super hot for no reason, like when you are playing a game after a long time. (Due to the intesive CPU usage).

I'm thinking is OS-related. But by doing some search you will find a lot of people with same issue. Even non-OPO users. I'm gonna give it a try anyway.! Thank you for your reply.

try better battery stats and correct firmware and recovery , if possible do everything in fastboot inc flashing
So, yeah, I got the most expected update, installed and worked great... Until some issues showed up, like lockscreen freeze, and now the "you can't see you WiFi power consumption" issue. I'm mad, I know WiFi was taking a huge piece of my battery ( tried some suggestions) but now a bug report appeared, and this is what I face today
Before it was like this
What should I do now? A clean install ?

Don t fast reboot
Shutdown your device and power on
Reboot enable system drain
Disable from security settings google administrator
Cyanogen device manager does the same
Also cyanogen statistic are not used any more to lollipop
Do not use greenify apps from version to version update has opposite results
If you want better battery use apps that will disable sensors and locationwhen device sleep
Has anybody experienced this? I do not have power saver on. I'm on the August 1 security patch for the G930U.
Here is the scenario:
- Play a song through Spotify
- Click the home button (media controls will appear in notifications when Spotify is in the background)
- Pause or stop the song from notifications (don't hit the x in the media controls notification)
- Let phone sit with Spotify on pause
- Eventually, the media controls will disappear from the notifications as if the phone automatically shut down the Spotify app, which is fine.. but..
- Play a song through Spotify again
- Click the home button (media controls will NOT appear in notifications)
The only way to fix this for me has been to open up the recents app menu and swipe it away, then open Spotify again. Extremely annoying.
I have been having this issue as well on my LG G4, almost the exact same symptoms you have. I have tried all the re-installation tricks and factory resetting my phone. After some spotify forum digging I think other users have this issue and its an app based issue. I am 75% sure of it, but know one has had a definite answer to why this happens so I can't say for sure its the app and not Android
I'm having the same problem in a OnePlus X, thought it was something about latest Marshmallow update. I don't think this happen in Lollipop, but.. who knows.
I have had this issue from time to time, but have not noticed it in the last couple days since installing the latest beta (6.5.0.1795) from the XDA Labs app. It hasn't been long enough for me to say for sure it's fixed, but it's worth a shot. Try it out and report back on if you're able to reproduce the issue with the beta version.
Having the same problem on the S7. Latest stable version of Spotify and on latest software.
