Spotify media controls disappearing in the notification/lock screen. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Has anybody experienced this? I do not have power saver on. I'm on the August 1 security patch for the G930U.
Here is the scenario:
- Play a song through Spotify
- Click the home button (media controls will appear in notifications when Spotify is in the background)
- Pause or stop the song from notifications (don't hit the x in the media controls notification)
- Let phone sit with Spotify on pause
- Eventually, the media controls will disappear from the notifications as if the phone automatically shut down the Spotify app, which is fine.. but..
- Play a song through Spotify again
- Click the home button (media controls will NOT appear in notifications)
The only way to fix this for me has been to open up the recents app menu and swipe it away, then open Spotify again. Extremely annoying.

I have been having this issue as well on my LG G4, almost the exact same symptoms you have. I have tried all the re-installation tricks and factory resetting my phone. After some spotify forum digging I think other users have this issue and its an app based issue. I am 75% sure of it, but know one has had a definite answer to why this happens so I can't say for sure its the app and not Android

I'm having the same problem in a OnePlus X, thought it was something about latest Marshmallow update. I don't think this happen in Lollipop, but.. who knows.

I have had this issue from time to time, but have not noticed it in the last couple days since installing the latest beta (6.5.0.1795) from the XDA Labs app. It hasn't been long enough for me to say for sure it's fixed, but it's worth a shot. Try it out and report back on if you're able to reproduce the issue with the beta version.

Having the same problem on the S7. Latest stable version of Spotify and on latest software.

Lockscreen information delay

Since the mango update there is a small change slightly irritating me.
Everytime when I push the power butten when in sleepmode the lockscreen shows.
But since mango it takes about 1 second to show the information like date, texts, mails etc..
Does anybody has the same problem and knows how to fix it?
I hate it also i dont think you can fix it
same situation on my mozart, it's unfortunate but maybe it'll get fixed
the thing goes away if there's song active in mini player. so, go and play a song, stop it, turn off the screen and then turn it on again. there will be no more lag in displaying clock and callendar.
the lag will come back if you go and play a video. the song will go away from the mini player, and lag will be present till the next time you play a song.

That one second must be killing you
For me it's not a big deal. I guess this might be battery saving feature so phone doesn't have to sync all the time while it's off.
I had this problem and it ended up going away on its own after a few days.
I have a focus
I had this issue during the beta, however it was fixed in final release. Not sure what to tell ya.
I assume it takes about a second to gather the data, but I haven't suffered that delay either. It probably depends on how much email and contacts and other data that you may have.

I can confirm this. I did a few tests this afternoon. Youtube videos do not appear to invoke the bug, but videos played in the music/video app doe result in the delay.

[Q] Stock android problem with music

HI guys, I've got a real head scratcher and for the first time in every aspect of my life a Google search hasn't come through for me.
Background: Completely stock Nexus 4 - 4.4.3
Completely stock Nexus 7 - 4.4.2
No task or app killers
Problem: Out of no where when swiping away any music player (Google Play Music, Shuttle+, Wiizm etc) the music is killed!? The phone seems to be preventing the app from running in the background. I can hit the menu hot key and open other apps and music will play fine, it just won't continue playback if app is swiped.
I've also noticed I no longer get any form of mini player in the notification pull down or notification (headphones, play symbol etc) in the status bar if I have music playing unless I swipe the app but by which time the music has been killed!
What I've tried: Numerous searches, factory reset, uninstalling and reinstalling apps, cache and data clearing and even a different user account.
I could completely understand that something could corrupt or I could possibly hit a setting I've never seen before causing this to happen but surely a factory reset would resolve it? To add insult to injury my Nexus 7 has gone exactly the same way with the same symptoms. I don't even have the same music players on the individual device so I can't blame it on one particular app.
It driving me insane! Does anyone have any suggestions?
I experienced the second part of your problem, GPM no longer was in my notification bar+shade. Searched everywhere and your post was the only one I could find related to my problem. Curiously I checked the app under >Settings>Applications>Google Play Music and noticed that the notifications check box was not checked so I checked it and now everything is back to normal. Really can't remember if I turned it off myself or if upgrading to 4.4.3 had something to do with it.

have you tried using 3rd party music players?

Can't properly play Spotify songs on phone using Moto 360.

I've been trying to use my Moto 360 to play music on Spotify using the OK Google function, but whenever I tell it to play a song I have to unlock my lockscreen for the song to start. As soon as I unlock the lockscreen, the song starts playing no problem. I've tried using multiple different launchers, doing clean ROM flashes and factory resetting my Moto 360 many times but the issue never goes away. I'm using the latest Cataclysm ROM and latest Android Wear. I'm starting to believe that this may be an issue with voice searching due to living in a non-US country. Has anyone else experienced this?
Okay so, this is actually just a problem with the spotify app(and almost all music player apps) and the way it communicates with your phone from your smartwatch. instead of having permissions to unlock your phone the app does not request them and as a result spotify lacks the permissions to do so. However in android wear you can only open up apps on the phone if you unlock the phone. Spotify may be different than other apps meaning you dont have to hit the open on phone button to sent it to your phone to work when unlocked but in general this is an issue with all android wear apps and applets.

It seems when I look around on other threads people are able to play the music from their watches without a problem. I've been searching for a thread about this issue for months but haven't been able to find one.

Possible Android 8.0 Issue: Favorites Shutting Off Music Playback On All Apps

I hope someone can help me with this. I am currently running an HTC U11 with Android 8.0.0. The problem I am having is that whenever I have my phone on vibrate and I get a text from someone on my "Favorites" list, my phone completely stops playback of what I am listening to and I have to manually restart the music.
At first, I thought it was an issue with all of my contacts, but I noticed it only happens with my "Favorites". The media apps I use are: Pandora, IHeart Radio, Audible, MXPlayer, & Music Player by Innody. At first, I noticed it with HTC Messages, so I tried Android Messages and it still happens.
Before this phone, I had an HTC M9 and I did not have that issue. I checked with HTC and they couldn't tell me what would cause it. The only thing I can think is that it is caused by Android Oreo. Has anyone else experienced this? Please help!
Today i have updated my Google Pixel 2 XL from Android Nougat to Android Oreo and now as I will open the instagram and snapseed app they only will display a blank white screen on the startup and gradually after few second the app crash by itself. Previously they used to run smooth any idea how to fix it?

Alarm issues on Nokia 2.1 running oreo go 8.1.

Wow I can't believe I have spent so much time on this simple issue which even old phones were able to do flawlessly.
Brand new Nokia 2.1 running oreo go 8.1. Alarms would suddenly disappear from the lock screen or the top notification bar and then won't go off on the time specified.
Apparently a lot of people are facing this issue as it turns out by google search and I have tried the latest version of the google clock and another 3rd party alarm clock and it happens to both. Contacted support and they ask to clear cache and do things like a soft reset neither of which work at all.
I'm lost for solution as I can't get my alarms to keep running in the background until I open my clock app every now and then again and reset the alarm.
It happens to any other app that can run in the background 'auto silence scheduler' app the notification disappears and the app fails to start the scheduled silent time.
Seems like oreo is force closing apps that are running in the background when the phone is put to sleep for a while. Then those apps wont start until they are manually started.
Alarms is the worst because if it will happen during the night and I won't wake up at the time in the morning.
Exact same issue with my Nokia 2.1, Alarm's are a hit or miss scenario these days.
