[Q] Problem with charger - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I didn't use my tablet since 2 month and last week, i installed team EOS 4.2.2 JB rom.
After, my cable did'nt worked, When i tried to conect it to my computer, there was an error message that the tablet wasn't detect correctly.
And when i put the cable into the charger and the table to charge on the wall, i saw the icon on the right corner of the tablet charging but in the information battery, i sax that "Disconect" and the tablet % didn't grow up.... So i thought the cable was dead and i bouth one new on ebay.
With the new cable, no problem the tablet was detect and the charging with the charger was good. But after 2 days, i had new problems.
when i conect the tablet on my laptop, all is OK, the tablet is detect normally. But whn i try to charging with the charger on the wall, the tablet doesn't charge. I see the icon in the right corner is charging but in the battery informations, i see "disconect" again and the battery doesn't charge.
Yesterday, i saw a topic that i can put the charger on the freezer, i put it alle the night and i tried this morning but nothing the tablet does'nt charge.
On the charger, there is 2 parts, I open the little part with removing a screw and i tried to little move the 2 metal parts but nothing alwas the same problem.
So i think now the problem is not the new cable but the charger.... I know it's a specific voltage and if i try with my HTC ONE X charger, this will not work...
But maybe it's a problem with the tablet connect port?
I changed the rom and i installed the Cyanogen 4.2.2 this morning, and now when i conect the cable, with the computer, it's OK i see my tablet but the icon on the table isn't charging and i see "disconect in the battery information". And with the charger wall, it's the same, i have charge icon and i have disconect in the battery information
Do you think i must buy a new charger?
Sorry for my poor English my French

Try a trickle charge from the USB PC > Tablet
Plug the tablet cable into PC USB port and turn off the screen, then leave to trickle charge overnight
If you have the screen on it will not charge, so best to leave it off for a few hours to test if it is a charger problem

When you use PC USB to charge, it will not show charging on the screen, you have to leave it overnight for best test results
The freezer trick should only be used for about 20 minutes just to cool the charger down and reset the cutout
Try trickle charge overnight, if it works, its the charger

I think this is because tablet use a lot of power when in use and that is why the tablet is discharging when you use it. PC has even less powerful USB charger so the tablet will probably be recharging VERY slowly or even discharging when you use it.
You should leave tablet overnight to recharge and it is better to charge it in one piece than constantly plugging and unplugging it from PC.
Have a nice day,
Žiga

You should be able to charge and use it at the same time with the actual charger plugged in, but you are correct, with the PC you can not use and charge unless you mod your USB ports for extra power

Ok i will try to conect the tablet (power off) all the night to my computer but i think it will not charge...
And if it's not work, it's not a problem with the cable because i can use the cable to transfer media PC> Tablet, so it's a problem on the tablet connector?

Hello,
My tablet was charging all the night. She was at 22% and now 38.... It's very slow!!! But now, i know that my tablet and my cable are OK and my charger is the problem.
There is a solution to repair my charger or i must buy an other?

I'm searching to conect an old cable to my charger for rc cars. Whith my charger rc car, i can charge Nimh, Nicd and lipo accus.
I cutted an old cable for tf101. I think it's a USB 3.0 because i have 5 little cables.
I think i need to charge at 15V-1A... But i wouldlike to know what are the colors of negative and positive cable because in my TF101 cable i have this colors:
white-green-red-orange-yellow...

Try this, separate charger and its pins, then take it along with the cable and put it in a zip pouch, now freeze for say 2 hrs. Take it out let it return to normal temperature and then try charging. Remember freeze them in a zip pouch (air tight)

[Q] Tablet and Dock not charging - cable is OK _ Wall charger fail [Solved]

Hi there!
I have a B80 Tablet which was working properly as it should, until on Wednesday I left it completely dry (both dock and tablet 0%) and now they won't charge at all!
The wall charger and cable were tested with my friends TF101 - working fine, no problems at all.
Also when I turned on in the evening it showed the Battery (with red status) icon which means it needs to be charged - I put it on the wal charger for 3 hours and the dock was not charged at all, and the tablet got 3% juice and that was it.
Neither the dock or tablet is charging - tried them separately
Also tried cold-boot, the "freezer trick", the USB trick - no success
Any suggestions? Experience?
Thanks!
P.S: 3.2.1 HC, KRAKD ROM, default kernel, no OC
Mine is doing something similar. Tablet will charge but keyboard won't. If I leave tablet connected to keyboard I will draining completely in less then 4 hours. I have the OG Transformer 101.
ICS (revolver tf101 4.0.0 RC1 with stock kernel)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Now I managed to get the tablet to 9% Via USB Port -.-
Also tested my friend's charger which works as well - but mine does not want to charge...
Ive got exactly the same problem with one exception, i am not able to charge it at all!! After all night connected to charget still 0% battery, in dual batter widget there is unknown battery error. Charger is ok. Dock is fully chargedand even from dock my tablet wont charge.
What is more i am not able to flash stock rom with nvflash, it disconnects after sending bootloader.
Do you have any ideas what to do now?

I sent email to Asus on Friday and waiting for response.

Just a few questions:
I plugged the dock on the wall charger without the tablet - it shows no life signs. Isn't the LED should be blinking? Also left the tablet on the wall charger for 2 hours and the battery was charged a bit (10%) - so it can't be the charger.
Also since it got a little charge - it can be hardware error with the battery. A loose cable?
Also managed to go back to stock ROM and no help - can it be that the cable has issues?
Battery voltage shows 7V BTW currently
Have you guys try using PC USB port alone and charge the tablet for like a day?
Put the tablet OFF and let it charge thru the day(12hrs) and see what happen.
Next, dock the tablet to it's keyboard and fire up. Go to settings - Developer options - USB debugging(uncheck).
Go to Settings - Asus customised setting - MobileDock Battery mode(uncheck).
Still docking, now restart the TF101.
And yes, the dock would blink when charging take place until it turn green when full charged..
Just tablet wouldn't charge
I have a similar same issue. It was working fine and then when i went to pick it up to use it wouldn't start up. So I followed all the tips i can find so far but no dice. Here are the rest of the info:
The unit will not turn on if I don't have the power cable plugged in.
1) When the cable is pulled out, the unit turns off and will not turn back on
2) When the cable is plugged in, it turns on and work just fine
3) When I put it on the keyboard dock, it turns on and work just fine
4) When I pull it out of the keyboard, it turns off and will not turn back on
5) I have soft reset, hard reset and factory reset (all with power plugged in) because nothing will happen without the power plugged in
6) Battery status shows 86% but not charging:
--When plugged into the wall
7) Battery status shows 86% but not charging while in the dock.
--The dock battery shows that it is charging and the light on the dock is green
I have tested and knows the charger works and the dock battery works.
The main unit battery will not deplete and will not charge.
What do I need to do?

Ive done exactly the same tests, and behaviour of my tablet is almost the same (battery 0%)
I am waiting for a responce from Asus.
Honestly speaking i am glad to hear that someone else has the same problems and the same symptoms. It means that the Asus hardware or ICS update messed something up.

I hope ASUS says something, becuase this is driving me crazy - out of the blue suddenly not working.
I charged the tablet via USB overnight - 46% right now, but the dock does not want to go up from 0%
And it looks like it charges via the wall charger as well, but it is the same as via USB - so the "real" charging is not triggered.
Fixed!!!
Looks like the wall charger charged with 5V, but not with 15V properly - which is utterly strange.
Waiting for a new replacement charger - with 12V 1A should be working.
BTW, if you want to do this, there are already threads.
You need a Molex Female and a USB Female cable - wire it like on the picture.
Yellow cable from Molex to USB red and the black cable from Molex (next to the red) to USB Black - that's it.
Great that it works for you but I don't think that is my problem though. I can't get it to trickle charge from the USB even. And the battery widget said "battery health = unknown error".
I guess I will still wait...

GOOD NEWS! Tired this and keyboard showed 99%. I will need to run power down and try to charge later to see if fixed completely.
Now for what I did.
Took the base AC charger from my Galaxy Nexus, any base should work, then used the standard USB cable that came with the Transformer and plugged it into the AC charger and the keyboard dock without tablet attached. Plugged into the wall and got nothing. No lights or anything. Then switched back to the AC charger base that came with the Transformer. Plugged into wall and I got a green light on the keyboard dock so I then docked the tablet. The dual battery widget showed 17% tablet and 99% dock. At last check it was 27% tablet and 99% dock.
Hope this is a fix.

Hi davebugyi, so if I understand correctly, the solution is to use a 12V 1A USB charger to revive the battery of a dead dock? I have the issue as per my post here
Needless to say the dead dock battery is driving me mad!! Even opened up the dock and flipped the battery switch inside!!

Thanks so much for this. This just happened to me too and was tearing my hair out why it wouldn't charge. Done trickle usb charge for 5 min from my phone plug and then plugged normal charger in again and instead of 0% it was at 33% and is now charging again.
Hope This helps
I had this problem for so long, that i even gave up on looking for fixes.
the problem was that i remember dropping my adapter accidentally, so it became loose. but I didn't know this, I thought the cable was faulty. so simple fix...if your adaptor is loose, try fitting it in place.
sorry for my bad sentence structure and bad description, hope it helps

[Q] My TF don´t turn on or even turn the light on when I plug it

Yesterday I was using the Tf when my batery level go down so I plug it to the wall charger, A couple of hours later I tried to turn on the device but nothing happened even any light was on. Till that I can´t switch on my tablet.

Was the charging light on the tablet on when you plugged it to the charger? What color was the LED? Trying to determine if it was charging.
When I plugged it everything was normal a batery came up in the lcd but after a few hours when I tried to use the tablet allso the screen and the led were down

I try everything press the power boton for 30 seconds, volume down... etc all I read. But one strange thing is that if I connect the usb cable first to my laptop and then to the tablet my laptop restart without reasson.
Are the pins on the power cable or the tablet bent or broken? Maybe try to turn on the tablet when it's plugged into the power cable? Also, you can try to let it sit for 24hours (maybe longer) to see if whatever power is left in the battery completely dies. Then try plugging it in again to power cable and hit power button to see if it powers up.

You tried to charge it via the USB cable and your laptop? I do not believe your laptop's battery can deliver enough juice to actually charge the 700, so then it wouldn't surprise me the 700's battery is as dead as a dodo. Try the wall charger instead.

It is also possible the wall charger failed. I had this happen when mine was a month old. I could only charge off of my usb 3 on the back of my big pc until I was able to get another.

As it's stated above - The Galaxy Note 10.1 can not charge threw USB due to the high power usage, all it can do is a "status quo" on battery usage.
So if you wan't to charge the Note, plugg it directly into the wall, and if possible, avoid power extenders.

If you are using the ac charger and the original cable, then you may have a fault in either the charger or the usb cable
If you can borrow a friends usb cable test to see if that helps
If not try your friends charger.
After a while the usb cable gets damaged and when damage can show a fault in different ways
Slow charging
The red cross appears
It shows charging but the battery never goes pass say about 1%
It shows charging but instead the unit is discharging.
If you get any of these before you wipe your device try another cable if possible
I have had my replaced already and ferl I will go and get a docking unit, and a spare cable

sorry for late reply.
i did get a new charger from ebay but unfortuately the red cross is still there but nevertheless it charge slowly.. it took me about 8 to 10 hr for fully charged.
any other solution?
The probabilities are:
Charging Port is broken
Charging cable / Charging cable connector(s) is(are) broken
AC Charger is broken
Analysis:
Borrow someone else's charger & cable
Try the combination :
Other charger + your cable ==> if working then your Charger is broken
Your charger + other cable ==> if working then your Cable is broken
Other Charger + other Cable ==> if working Both Charger & Cable are broken
If all failed ==> your Charging port are broken
Eliminate posibilities

[Q] Photon Q got hot now won't power on

Hi everyone,
My first post as I haven't been able to find an answer. My Photon Q was probably about 30% charge when I last checked with it on. An hour or 2 later it was a little warm and was off. So I went to charge it using the car charger with 500mah charge rate. I came back about an hour later and the phone was really hot and no charging screen so I unplugged it. The green led light is lit when the phone is plugged in.
I tried holding the power button and volume down button, but it won't boot. If I have the usb charging cable plugged in from a PC or charger adapter when pressing those buttons, the green light will flicker off for a fraction of a second.
I then proceeded to dismantling the phone as I suspect a battery issue and the one in this phone is stupidly non-removable. After taking the back cover off, I tested the battery posts and received 0 volts. I still don't know if the battery caused the drain or if there's a short in the phone. I then took off the inside cover that holds the battery in. A few T5 screws later and the battery was removed. I connected the battery to some AA batteries in series to see if I could get a charge. A few hours later I got it up to 3 volts which held for several hours. So I connected it to a few more AA batteries in series to try and raise the voltage. I got it up to 3.67 volts and the battery is listed at 3.7 volts.
A day later and the voltage is still at 3.67 volts so I put the battery in the phone. I went to try and power it on, but nothing. I then connected it to a usb cord and received the slow flashing red led light a couple times before switching to green. The battery started getting warm again connected to the usb charger. After 20 minutes it was approaching hot so I unplugged the USB. The battery read 3.54 volts. 30 minutes later, 0 volts again.
Does anyone know what the actual voltage range is for this phone, as my old Samsung M320 is also 3.7 volts, but when testing the battery I get 4.10 volts? I heard it's pretty specific on minimum voltage. Any ideas for a temporary battery or way to boot the phone before spending $50 on a replacement battery and then find out there's a short in the phone. Is there another key combination to boot the phone, I'm trying to boot it to at least get my pictures and other data off it.
Thanks a lot in advance
Matt
Not the battery, seems to be an electrical short but where
I bought a new battery for the phone which had a 0 volt charge when I received it. I tried putting it in the phone as is to use the phone charger to charge it, but got nothing. So I charged it using 2, then 3 and then 4 AA batteries in series to get it up to 3.7 volts. I then put the battery in the phone and noticed the 2 large chips and the chip centered above them located by the camera get a little hot. I tried with the charger connected and not connected, but same thing. Power button doesn't turn the phone on. Just the green led lit when the USB power cable is attached. So now it seems there must be a short in the phone. Anyone know where I can look to check for a short, blown resistor or something in this phone? Or at least where the rom chip is located so maybe I can turn it into a usb drive to get my data at the least.
Anyone? I still haven't been able to find a solution. I don't see pins touching, but if some pins are touching in the usb port, would that cause the heat issues when I put a battery in that I charged externally? I do get the green led light when I plug the phone in to charge so figure that means the usb is ok?

Yep used the motorola cable that came with the phone (plugged in the wall and just the cable in multiple computers, another motorola house charger (the same as the one that came with the phone), a motorola car charger, and a samsung house charger.
When you say motorola usb service cable, I assume you're not talking about the motorola cable that comes with the phone? What usb service cable are you referring to?

Battery dock replaced but still no charging!

I've successfully replaced the battery of the dock with a new one. It was showing some charge 36% instead of 0% and no more tablet draining, but it never charged! So now it's at 9%, red dot blinking, and I don't know how to fix it! Charging sign appears when plugged in and tablet charges trough the dock.
I've tried the cold boot and the trickle charge but I didn't see changes, maybe I've done something wrong?
What more can I do to make it charge again?
I thought it was the charger or the cable but for what I see the 40-pin connector has actually only the 4 pins (the usb signal) so I don't think I need another cable.

I don't believe it is a software issue. It might be a contact issue caused by yourself I think.
Firstly disconnect your tablet from the dock. Connect it with the charger and check if it is going to be charged. If so, your both charger and cable are OK.
Secondly check whether all contacts between the battery and the dock are closed correctly or not. Please follow backwards the sequence you used to taking out the old battery by yourself.
try and charge it with the official charging brick, or at least something that can put out 15V at 1.5A i had the same problem when using my tablet after a long time and only my tablet would get charged not the dock
Yes I'm charging it with the official charger, maybe it got some problems
I don't have a tester at the moment but I got a doubt. Is it possibile that the cable has 2 charging lines one for the tablet and one for the dock? Because I want to buy another charger but maybe it could be not compatible for charging also the dock.
I opened it again last weekend and there was nothing unplugged, everything was good.
