Take it in for repairs, bro. Those are hardware problems you're describing and there's nothing any of us could do to help you with that. Good luck!

[Q] Is my Sensation dead?

Hi guys!
I'm Running Leedroid 2.3.0 on my sensation since 2.3.0 was released.
I'm CWM v4.0.1.4 (charging fixed! blue text) on it.
The Phone ran perfect until yesterday. I didn't overclock and didn't do any other special tweaks, i used it as it was.
Yesterday i used google maps navigation for about 5 - 10 minutes. after that the phone was really hot. I stopped navigation and killed google maps with the stock task manager.
I put the phone into my pocket, about 20min later i noticed the phone turned off. it was still a little bit warm.
Now the phone doesn't turn on anymore. when i plug in the charger, nothing happens. not even the orange led turns on. absolutely nothing.
i've tried all combinations off pulling the battery, left it out for som time and plug it in again. try to charge....
No chance - the phone seems to be dead.
I've got no idea if it is a hardware or a software problem. how can i find out?
What can i do?
I think my warranty is void by rooting and flashing the custom rom.
You should check first if the Battery or the phone is the problem. Try getting another battery that u can try out. If it is not working, then probably your phone is dead. However, I would replace it with warranty. Since it's dead they can not turn it on and check if u modded it. Maybe they can detected that if they would take out the mainboard and connect it to some JTAG device, but I'm 99.9% sure they will not do this. Imagine the costs of doing this with every phone they get for replacement... It's not easy to detect if the Software on the phone was manipulated once the phone is dead due to a hardware defect.
What you can also try ist connect it to usb port on PC and try turning on. Does the PC detect anything?
PC doesn't detect anything.
I tried another battery today, same problem.
Do you think it is a hardware problem?
It may have gotten so hot it damaged some of the hardware. Like he said up there ^ take it to Tmobile and ask them to replace it. These things are notorious for overheating anyways so your story will be believable.

agreed. warranty, warranty, warranty
i think it is best for you to bring back to the tmobile store to get it check or get a new replacement. dont answer too much questions if they ask because they might try to look for away to void your warranty or refuse for service.
I'll bring it to t-mobile tomorrow.
I got a new one.
T-Mobile replaced it.

[Q] Phone bricked.Dont know what happened.

Ok guys i have helped a lot of you out there but i need help this time.
Few days ago i accidently dropped my phone down but nothing happened that time.
Next day everything was fine until the day after when my phone suddenly switched off.i switched it on but after few minutes it became off again.then i tried to switch it on but nothing happened.
i tried removing battery and charging again but nothing happened.
but one strange thing was my battery was getting hot even when the phone was off.
i thought smth is wrong with battery and i bought a new one but nothing happened.
no download mode no recovery nothing....i mean nothing..........
So know i dont know whats wrong and its not even in warranty as i dont have bill and other things.
i went to a local shop but they said give it to us a we will find the problem but i am scared that there may be only minute problem for which they will charge like rs.500 to rs.1500 and may still not fix it.so i dont trust them.
so pls. help by telling me what could have happened and has this happened to anyone else??
and yeah i have not flashed clockwork mod.....i had chocobread 3.2........
maybe the battery leaked inside the phone and thats why it wouldnt on
thats why the battery was hot due to the chemical reactions taking place inside the battery.
try putting the new battery in and charging it for like 10 min and then on and see if it works.
try shaking the phone also to see if any part inside the phone is lose or broken
last option is give it for repair
PS: if u do know a lot about ur phone hardware try opening it and see whats wrong inside even though i got no idea what will happen coz ive never tried
best of luck
may be the screens cable broken..
It looks something that samsung care can fix...be ready to shell out some cash...
I would advise against unofficial service, atleast for smartphones...

Well its really f***in trouble man...
I'm guessing that your phones hardware are down, because of the impact... maybe the display flexible or the power supply that's going bad and that's why you're phone can't turned on again..
Battery shouldn't be problem, coz it charge and getting hot...
My advise is just go and repair it to the Samsung Service Center..
Just my little opinion..

Thanks guys but how much expense can I expect like from just damaged power supply to damaged chips?
I don't want to spend much as I am looking to buy s3 very soon.

My friend which is a phone technician told me that your problem is the IC Power (power supply)..
Just replace it with the new one ...
I'll guest its about 5 to 10 USD..
Sent from my Galaxy Fit
It should not cost too much. While i doubt that it would have anything to do with the battery (as ive dropped my phone several times over the past one yr ) id agree that you take it to the samsung service ctr. It may cost a little, but the fit is worth every penny

It seems the Power IC, however check the pins that connect battery with motherboard.

[Q] Hard brick from OTG cable

I just hard bricked my second GS3. I bricked the first one a couple of months ago (the day I got it) when used a cheap OTG cable to attach a flash drive to the phone. The phone just shut down. No charge light ever, no response to usb, just nothing.
When I got my second phone, I took a deep breath and tried the OTG cable again and it worked fine. I thought I just got a bad phone.
But today, on a whim, I wanted to see if my phone would run an external USB cd drive. BAM, the phone shuts down and is hard bricked again!!
So, I guess this is a cautionary tale, as well a plea to the community for any recommendations. Someone had a similar problem months ago, but I didn't see a resolution. I will probably end up sending it for JTAG repair, but I don't know if it will do any good since this wasn't caused by borking a ROM install. Anybody have any experience with this?
One thing is for sure. That OTG cable is going in the trash.
I have never heard of this. Very interesting. Sorry to hear this for you. I have been using my cable for awhile now and only ever had one problem with it. I was viewing pictures and looked away from the phone for a few moments. Phone went into sleep mode like normal. Dull screen then screen off. Prob was it wouldnt wake up. Nothin i did woke it up so i had to do a battery pull. Phone was fine after that and havent had the problem since. Gonna keep fingers crossed after reading the OP.
Set from my Verizon Stock Rooted (Modded) Galaxy S3 using xda-developers app
Yeah, it is a real pain. I found some other people who had the same issue.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32816-sgs-3-and-otg-usb-adapter-might-equal-brick/
I just can't imagine what must be happening. I wish one of those uber-smart hackers who were working on the bootloader unlock would see this and give me some idea if it is even fixable. It is almost like it blew a fuse.
Anyway, I have an email out to mobiletechvideos to see if they think it can be jtag-ed. I have a feeling that a $2 cable is going to end up costing me $600.
----- Update -----
I made and tried a usb jig, just for kicks. No luck. Still waiting to see if mobiletechvideos gets back to me.
Another quick follow-up... I got a response from mobiletechvideos.
Unfortunately that has been damaging many people’s phones. It damages the PMIC and the device is not repairable by any of our services or any other shop that I know of.

If you are too lazy to google PMIC, it is the power management chip. Sounds like there is a problem with the cable where the power is being directed somewhere it shouldn't be.
This weekend, I will carefully cut open the cable and see if I can see the problem.

Don't like resurrecting threads, but was curious for an update. This just happened to my Verizon GS3 as well. Completely unresponsive. I'm still under warranty so am about to go to the store to have it sent back, but came across this thread while trying to hunt down solutions.

Charging pin not working! How to replace?

Hi guys,
my phone's charging pin is not working. I am unable to connect any charger properly. It is happening with 3 chargers and a usb cable. So, I need to replace the pin. But, I have no idea where to get it done. Suggestions please?
Also, is it possible that I can fix this problem by myself (maybe it is just dirt issue)? If yes, how do I proceed with that?
Okay, so I bought new charger, got the pin changed, and still the same problem. My phone doesn't charge while it still displays "Charging". It doesn't matter whether it is connected or not. It just says "Charging". I have done two clean flash, and same issue. Heck it happens even with DDLF2. So, I am out of ideas.
Someone help me here. My phone is a brick for past 2 days now.

holy hell. that is pretty much useless then.
If i were in your situation i would search Ebay for that part (Charging board).
And if possible with the tools including everything you need to disassemble the device.
If you're not experienced with phone repairs... Dont worry.
Check this i9003 Disassemble Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UW4T-aNkQY
The video shows that there is a Charging part.
Search for that part or dead / damaged devices.
Replace it and you're done.
If you want to go the hard way...
There are charging ports for 1$ or 2$.
If you have the proper tools its easy.
If not there are other ways. But it's very risky.

Thanks for the help. I did asked mobile repair shop here, and they are expecting 100rs.(less than 2$) to replace the part. Turns out it is pretty common part and is almost always of same specifications.
Okay, so the socket/pin was not the issue. There was some water damage to the assembly itself. We tried 3 different sockets, and all resulted in same issue. But, replacing assembly itself was cheap enough. So, finally my phone is back and charging fine. :victory:
Good good and good again. Another SL didn't bite the dust.
Cheers

Anyone had issues with the phone charger?

Anyone had issues with the phone charger?
My girlfriend is using an S7 and she has a lot of problems with the charger. Phone is not rooted or any custom ROM. Just stock. I replaced the chargers twice until now. The first one took almost a year to break. This one took like 6 months or so.. Has anyone encountered this type of issue before? All the chargers are taken directly from Samsung.
Charger starts to show signs of malfunction when it's missing the fast charge option or not charging at all. Then it returns to normal. Then in a matter of days the charger is not working anymore.
Phone variant is G930F. I'll attach a screen of Ampere after the last "charging" with the broken charger. It took the print screen after a minute or so. It's hard to keep a girl away from her phone.
P.S. Charger is 100% broken as I'm not able to charge my phone with it, so I just want to know if this is a phone issue or a voltage issue.
Sounds more likely that the phone is damaging the chargers vs you constantly getting bad charger replacements
Had mine a year now with no signs of problems and fast charging still working fine

You should bring it to the service center, and they will check the port for you. Thing is, the port might be bad, and for this reason it kills all the chargers you buy as a replacement. A sign of this if the charger cable gets very hot on the end closer to the port. I mean the micro usb plug itself. But thats one thing, if it isn't happening, the port could still be broken. You should go see if the port is fine. If it is, then I suspect it as a voltage issue in the house, or something. So worth checking that too. Hope you still have a guarantee on the phone. Because then they supposed to fix it no cost. You sholud try if data transfer is working through cable. If not then it shows again, port issue. If you don't want to to use the phone connected to a PC, or otherwise an easy solution could be buying a wireless charger. So then you didn't fixed the port, but the phone will be charging. But first make sure it's not the houses voltage problem, or the wallplug, because if it is, then it can ruin your wireless charger too.
Thats all I can help. Hope it helps.
Regards, and Good Luck fixing it!

Well thats not an easy one. But I don't really think that's the issue here. If she isn't living in an old house, then there is very little chance of a problem with the curcits. You should ask her if she had any random power breaks or such things in her house. Or light bulbs going wrong too fast. But as I said, I don't think thats the problem. It will be the port, I just mentioned the voltage as a possibility, and the thing what you should keep in mind.
So I suggest Her buying a wireless charger, as her phone is an S7, she can do that. But if I were in her situation I would bring it for a check to Samsung, or wherever she bought the phone (ofcourse if she still has a guarantee as I mentioned earlier). To tell the truth, as I see the problem is with the port, and depending on what you said, I don't think a home solution or buying another charger would be enough in this case.
That's why I mentioned trying wireless charging, because thats not using the port. I hope she can get the problem fixed soon. Poor girl without a phone...

Yeah, I would've sent it to warranty if she had any. She doesn't know much about phones so I feel responsible with this matter.

Yeah I think so too. And you know. There is the swag in that She can show to friends like: "Look my phone is charging without plugged in" or something like that.
Hope that really will help Make sure to send feedback if you fixed it somehow. I'm now planning to buy an S7, so I hope this is a one-of-a-kind problem.
Anyways Good luck really. If she buys a wireless charger make sure she is buying an original Samsung one, because that has fast charge included, and it will sure not ruin the phone.
I'm the one buying stuff here. Haha. Not interested in second hand/fake/refurbished phones.
She got the phone unsealed with "one hour use before" from a local "dealer". I don't approve this and I don't trust him. Apparently he's a good friend with some of her family's friends.
Still returning a phone after one hour of use is not something someone would do if it was working ok. He told me the other user loves Apple more.
Even though i think the other user didn't notice the voltage issue, as it took almost a year for me, until the first charger broke down.
But i prefer sealed products. Even though they don't have warranty as I flash a lot of stuff.
I'm also interested in buying an S7. I have been for the past year. But unfortunately I had to support my mom with some "donations". It's a damn good phone.
Will write here once I manage to get the Wireless Charger. Thank you for your help.

Okay so hi again! Just a quick update here. Maybe if someone reads later. So I was watching this video for fun:
There is a part of the video where he disconnects the battery. He clearly says that the micro-usb port and the wireless charging part is connected with a different cable. Thus the wireless charging still works, even if the port is broke.
I thought it was good to mention this, I was sure about this before, but here you can see clear confirmation on it. The part in question is somewhere in the middle of the video.
So if you manage to screw up your port, wireless charging will be still functional for sure!
Hope I could help!
