[Q] [Help] HTC phone will not turn on - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My friends HTC phone will not turn on. When I tried holding down the volume and power button the three lights on the bottom flash and no access to bootloader. The screen only stays blank. The screen shattered two months ago on the device.
Any ideas on why only the bottom lights flash and the screen will not turn on into bootloader? The phone has not been unlocked/rooted on stock ICS.
Thanks for the help,
K

Have you tried anything before it stop turning on? Were you flashing something? Also, did this happen before? Need a bit more info.

This has never happened before. My friend was on a phone call and the phone turned off. There has been no attempts to root the phone.
[As a side note I have a htc one x bootloader unlocked and rooted running CM10]

Ah ok. Well, if the screen is cracked, that could be a reason. I know it happened two months ago, but the effects can just start now, especially if debris is inside of the phone. I believe you should be able to run the ICS RUU and see if that clears it up. If not, you may need to try to contact HTC. I am probably missing something, and someone will correct me.

If the phone is plugged into the charger try unplugging it and then try to access bootloader. When the phone is charging it never completely shuts off and therefore you can't access bootloader.

Thanks for the help
I plugged the phone into a laptop and was able to turn on the phone so that it started charging. Quickly moved it over to a wall charger and it worked.

[Q] HTC Inspire Will not turn on. and battery is charged.

hello. i am looking for some help from some good android guru. my phone was acting up on the ROM android revolution version 3.2 so i tried to re flash and i wiped the phone and everything. then i got a error saying something like catche partition cannot read? but then i got the PD198IMG from the ace hack kit and i put it onto the root of the SD card and booted into HBOOT. the system flashed it fine and everything no errors. the phone rebooted and then said HTC then went to HTC then under neath it "quietly brilliant" and it just sat there for 10 minutes. and every few minutes the screen would go black then said the quietly brillant on it. after i while of that i just took the battery out. i wasnt home at the time so when i got home i tried to turn it on and nothing. when i plug it in nothing. so i thought the battery died and the phone didnt want to charge it. so i got a external battery charger from amazon that actually charges the physical battery. so when it was charged i put it back into the phone and the phone will not turn on. i dont know what to do. any help guys? if i try to send it into HTC can they tell if i rooted and turned S-OFF. or should i bullshi* them and act like i dont know what is going on. and send it in. any help would be good thanks so much guys!!

If you cant get into hboot and the orange led doesnt turn on when you plug it i to ac power then your device probably fried. Behold the warranty; if it wont turn on you dont have to return it to stock.

[Q] Bricked phone recovery?

So I have a Telus HTC One X that is rooted with TWRP and running CM10 nightlies. Woke up one morning and it wouldn't turn on even after being on the charger all night. All that happens is the bottom three lights turn on and stay on. The screen remains off and unresponsive. Cannot boot into recovery or anything. Also, my computer will not recognize when the phone is plugged in. Is it toast?
In device manager what does it say when you plug your phone in?

That's happened to me. I just held down the power button for 30 seconds and my phone came back on. Nope, doesn't make any sense, but worth a try.

has your friend tried rebooting his phone? long press the power button for 15-20 seconds, then press again to boot up. there are many reasons why the screen might not be turning on, some not even relating to the screen.

This worked on my device. It went off while I was at the metro traveling to work. It vibrated and I was unable to turn on the screen to check what it vibrated for.
Could you, please, share some reasons why we might be seeing this issue?
The phone has not been rooted and is running stock kitkat 4.4.2. It was upgraded using sideload as I was not willing to wait for the OTA.
I can't remember anything to reproduce the problem. All apps were closed and three updates waiting at the play store.

I am not very deep into this stuff, but had the same issue today. Luckely I was able to enter the bootloader by pressing Vol- and Power on at the same time. Maybe this will help - I hope so. Failing that, just wait a little longer, this community is always here to help and very clever!
Best wishes
You should go to the bootloader (as mentioned above) and relock it, And then install the proper RUU from here:
ht tp ://w ww. androidruu. com/?developer=Ville (S4 version, bootloader says VLE)
ht tp ://w ww. androidruu. com/?developer=VilleC2 (S3 version, bootloader says VILLEC2)
(remove spaces from the link)
So, my friend told me the phone could be charged. And so does that mean, he can go to the bootloader and ressurect it?

Yes
I guys, just to be sure if all these steps are correct.
1. See if the phone can got to Bootloader
2. Plug in the phone to the computer
3. Download the compatible RUU
4. Relock it.
But idk how to do the fourth step. I'm using Ubuntu so drivers aren't rly required. And i heard there's 2 types of One S. The C2, no how to check whether i have either the C2 or the standard One S?
Really really appreciate if you can answer all this

1- To lock your phone you should enter bootloader, select fastboot, then connect the device to a computer. Now you should see "fastboot usb" white text on red background. Open a terminal and type
Code:
sudo fastboot oem lock
That's all(I assume you know what to do next)
2- if you could enter bootloader and see VLE after TAMPERED and UNLOCKED tags it's s4 variant and if you see VILLEC2, it's s3(c2) variant
Sent from my HTC One S
Doesn't do show anything on the display.

OKay guys so i got my hands on the Bricked One S.. First things first, when i got it, i think some mad guys at the repair shop removed the screws on the One S and taking the top cap off kinda bend the Blue plate or whatever. Anyways, when i plugged the device to charge, theres the LED Notification lit up, then about 2 secs, it doesn't anymore. So while charging, i tried going to the bootloader, Power Button + Vol Down same time. Then suddenly, the One S's screen had a white flash on a certain part of the screen either top or bottom then it disappeared somewhat like lightining. After that flash assuming its going to turn on, i let go of the Power Button but the Vol Down. The LED Notification light was lit too but like the situtation when charging, it went off. So i can't go to Bootloader or Fastboot, but is there any way possible to ressurect this phone? Or maybe the screws were affecting the Main PCB or smth? HELP PLS. Counting on you guys

Yeah guys this is a problem of death batt or empty one. Let it to charge for a few hours and then try again, if still the issue persist then (even is littlebit difficult) try to test it with a good batt. If it goes to bootloader consider replacing with a new batt.

I have the same problem even after charging for few days, it is hard bricked, but everytime i do the vol down + power I see a greenish white flicker either at the top, middle or bottom, so looks like it may be salvageable but just not sure if there is a cheat method.any updates pls do post.

Yup. I'm having the same issue here. And it wierd because if you try charging to the wall charger for a day the LED will have the orange light and this time if you were to try the button combination the white flash that we use to see initially stops happening. An one the orange light dissapear the button combination will start back. But the phone is still bricked or Dead.
How can we make the phone respond to the computer or even get any response itself?
Without having responding is there any way to fix this?
Sadly, i sort of sent my One S to a repair shop cos of that problem. Im getting it back soon cos another guy told me to adb reboot-bootloader. Now the saddiest thing is that my computer is running Linux with adb but it doesnt detect any device i plugged.

There are problems entering HBoot sometimes. Try to enter it via your computer. Plug your phone into computer and use the command "adb reboot-bootloader" twice. You should get to the bootloader

[Q] Verizon HTC One M8 Bricked (Hard)

Hello,
I apologize if this is posted somewhere else. My HTC One M8 (Verizon) won't boot, completely unresponsive. Flashed HBOOT, rebooted and never turned on again. The device is S-OFF. Originally, it was recognized as many drives on my computer, but now it isn't recognized at all. When I plug the phone in, the power light turns on just for a second and then goes right back off. If I hold the power button down, it will reset itself with the light on for a second again and back off. Any ideas? JTAG would be my guess. There are several Youtube videos on JTAG for M8, but no one seems to support it that I have contacted. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Can't really jtag this device. You need a board. No warranty left? I mean if it doesn't boot and shows up as a qsb device and is under warranty its a clean board replacement case for them.
