LG Motion Jelly Bean! - General Topics

OK I've used Google and done some digging on other forums with no results.
Is there a working Jelly Bean Cyanogen or AOKP ROM for the LG Motion? I'd really like to have Jelly Bean and I'm sure I'm not the only one patiently waiting... If anyone has any updates on obtaining Jelly Bean, or links to working custom ROMs for the LG Motion, post them here.

LG Motion Jelly Bean
There are only un-official Cyanogen Mod 10.1 (Which is Jelly Bean) ports out there.
They are all what I would call Alpha coming close to Beta level of done-ness.
Do a google search for "playfuldroidz CyanogenMod 10 Motion" and you will find the best one I've found.
Also search for BobZhome and PlayfulGod in the forums as they are the main developers.
But no one has completely ported Jelly Bean to the Motion.
I've installed the port listed above a few times and have watched it get better and better, but keep switching back, because of one thing or another. Other people are not having the problem, but I keep being un-successful in getting the GPS to work. There are volume problems or echo problems (When they fix one it causes the other and they haven't pieced together a solution for both.) So because it's too soft and because I can't get the GPS working I always flash back to ICS.
The Motion has some unique problems that have prevented it from getting a lot of developer support.
1. It's screen resolution is small and weird.
2. It's a very in-expensive phone, most developers want the biggest and the best.
3. It's on MetroPCS... most developers go with a more mainstream phone service.
4. It's now getting to be an older phone with regards to the forward movement of technology.
Because of this Cyanomod will never support it officially. The only developers who are working on it have multiple projects going and the LG Motion is not their main phone... they just kinda play with it as a hobby project... and as bigger and better and newer phones come out... they will get bored and move on. I have a feeling we will never really get a fully fleshed out version of Jelly Bean for the Motion...I'm sorry.

Jelly Bean = 4.1

jelly bean seems to be an "incremental" upgrade from ics, which I don't mind since ics pretty much gets it right and is a gamechanger. interesting to see google partnering with nvidia though...not sure how well that's going to go
Anticipating the release. I hope it brings along some new features, which puts it further ahead of iOS.
i hope jelly bean bring impovement to android phones
I hope phones get Jellybean in a timely manner. The majority of new devices that have come out this year aren't even on ICS yet.
This is another reason why I only buy Nexus Phones. I am sick and tiered of not having ICS and then something else comes out and I am behind by 2 OS now
Im hoping the nexus 7 also has a 3G w/phone version. And minimal bezel. I'd be on board.
4.1 was to be expected. ICS was a pretty major upgrade merging phone and tablet there will likely be a few minor releases until Google adds something big like lapdock mode.
nVidia refused yo release their Tegra 2 Source Code for the G2x, what if they do the same with this device?!

Jelly bean vs ics

What is the difference between these 2 Android versions?I know jelly bean is for tablets and ics is for phones but is there any need to use jelly bean?

Stupid Swype, the title is meant to be jelly bean, but I don't know how to change it :s

check this video out
And your info aren't correct. ICS is for both phones and tablets. The same will be for JB ...
JB is an upgrade for ICS fixes stuff and adds features ... see Here for more details.
uumm, jelly bean is not only for tablet..
It's an upgrade and some bugfixing as well as performance improvements over ICS.. You may or may not need that, but it's good to have..
It's not really a major leap, unlike from 2.3 to 4.0..
You only need to use newer version of android if you are the type who always want the latest and greatest.. while it's not as smooth as ICS or JB, Gingerbread is already enough for most users, especially if you are not power-user..
If you are asking that question, chances are, you don't even need ICS, let alone JB..
No offence but Google it, there are some really good articles and videos on Google, especially those that visually show the new project Butter.
And don't fear you're not alone with the Swype issues, just need to reprogram the brain to spend half the time saved by using Swype to re-read all input....nowhere near as easy as it sounds
Swyped from my DesireS
thanks

Never tried Swype, but SwiftKey 3 has never given me a problem..
Looking forward to Jelly Bean
It is the best keyboard I have found but because I say jerky more than jelly, it remembers that I'm more likely to say jerky

JB has a app like Siri
ics i think
For now i am enjoying the ics on my note and i am waiting for the 4.0.4 update. I am satisfied with the late release of ics on note. I have n7000 and i got the update in june. Its fluid, stable just like how ginger bread was when i got my note. Jelly bean will take time to roll. My question is why all of a sudden we need jelly beans. Why not let the developers at ease so they can really make something special for all the devices at once. In current days new os is a guarantee to hi end device.

development dead?

now, i understand that development takes time, but given the potential of this tablet, i am somewhat dissapointed. i haven't really seen much progress past getting root, unlock, a recovery, a few roms based on stock, and one guy trying to port cm10. i guess what we are waiting for is the official jellybean upgrade before development picks up.

I feel you buddy, I'm coming from the Epic Touch forum that is very active in the development area. I too am disappointed with the lack of devs and ROMs for this tablet, but you have to realize its still fairly new and pretty expensive. I imagine most tablet devs would gravitate toward the Nexus 7 instead. Give it some time though, more will come.

yeah, and they released this iteration way too soon (<6 months i think) for devs to leave their primes
I think a lot of the devs have sent theirs back. I'm kind of wishing I had with mine. Pretty disappointed with the device so far.
One of the AOKP devs is working on a port to the tf700, and judging by his twitter the only major things holding him back from a release are issues with Bluetooth and some visual glitches. Once we have that, roms should follow since we'll have a working AOSP base.
His twitter account is here:

Actually to me, having custom ROMS on tablets is a little overrated. Root I can understand but seeing as I have owned the Xoom, Prime, and new the Infinity, must of the ROMS I have played with didn't add that much to the experience that stock already had. Outside of being able to use Sixaxis app, I have had little interest in rooting this Infinity. I think the wait for Jellybean is going to be with it.
Add in the fact that people are doing this on their free time, taking time away from their families, waiting a little bit won't hurt too bad.

and if you were in the e4gt forums from the beginning you will remember that it took several months for anything worth while to show up and how long for stable cm9? it took that forum quite a while to really get going.

Well to each their own, but to me, it's in custom development that you really begin to use the device to it's full potential. For instance, the OG Xoom has been literally given new life with EOS Jellybean builds. Yes, the Xoom wifi did get the JB OTA update, but stock JB is nowhere near as great as the EOS nightlies. They have tweaked it to capacity. The same will happen with the TF700 in time, I hope.
I also have the Nexus 7 and it's true that development has exploded for it, but honestly, it's a really limited device. For that reason, devs are in a performance competition...pushing things to the max. The TF700 though needs to be able to work really well...we'll need to be able to find the balance between high performance and stability. The fact that it's not really skinned is in its favor. It's not a Nexus device though and so some devs will not be interested in working with it.
Part of the problem in developing custom roms - which I have been doing for the Galaxy S 2/3 - is that currently you cannot decompile/recompile the SystemUI.apk file for the TF700T. XDA user iBotPeaches has taken over development of the apktool (tool to decompile/recompile APKs) project and is aware of the problem I and others are having. He is working to fix it.
As soon as it is fixed, I will be releasing a custom rom for the TF700T, but I need to make changes to the SystemUI.apk file. I can decompile/recompile the framework-res.apk file (have added CRT OFF effect already - and it works better than on my Galaxy S3).
So please have a little patience while the development tools are fixed and improved.
One other point to consider is that the Jelly Bean update is right around the corner, so putting much effort into modifying the current ICS version or actually making Jelly Bean work on the tablet is a waste of time.

so is anyone working on a touchwiz jelly bean rom

The reason I ask is because I love the speed of jelly bean but find it to not perform as well with live wallpapers as samsungs launcher. Don't get me strong, samsungs launched isn't perfect it still lags a bit with paper land lwp and others but when I ran cm 10 on nova it was much laggier. Anyone ha e any ideas?
Since tw is proprietary and (i believe) closed source, jb tw roms won't start showing up until after jb tw updates (or leaked updates) start to appear.
OK thanks man
^^^ this i dont beleive that touchwiz can be converted to jelly bean until samsung rolls out the update and the devs can get their hands on source code.
Think about this.....aosp android is like 120mb. TW ROMs are like 600-700mb. Who wants to be the one to go through and port over that extra 580mb of code? Sure as hell not me.....

Updates straight from google

So guys as most of you will know , Samsung will put touch wiz ui over jelly bean 4.3 before giving it to us. But why does it take long. I guess it just taking touch's wiv's coding and putting it on top of jelly bean...
So I'm really confused why does it take so long and why can't Google give us an option to get updates straight from them...
They would have to work around the TW frame work and it's stability before they release it. Also they would have to make sure that the air view and all that stuff work as well.
Wrong forum. But we're already getting one of the fastest updates from custom ROMs by our developers already since we have GE versions of our phones, thanks devs.
OTA of pure google roms with almost no delay is a reason why some people would choose GE phones or Nexus phones over the others.
Cheers.
