Chinese phones...
minus 500 to 1000 mAh, you will get the true info.
battery: fake.
phone: fake.
so do not expect too much.
anyway, this one can last about 10hours by openning wifi and playing games. standby one day may not be a problem.
hope can help you.

i do not know what you meant, actually chinese phones now uses the most powerful 544 GPU, however still a little lagged when playing 3d games like hunter 3, but smooth if the game is smaller like Front line.
Hot when playing games.

I have the THL w8+ with GravityMod2. It works just fine.. It has led notification. The battery works for me, lasted about 12 hours with 5 hours of music play, an hour of gaming [just poker], and hour of calling and about 3 hours on the whatsapp/browser
Plus your get a additonal battery
The best part is the in-ear earphones which have flat cable.. so no more tangling..

Maybe I'm wrong but the IMEI isn't something you can loose on your phone. It must be written deep inside the memory of your phone.
Try typing *#06# on your phone.
If this doesn't work it must be on the bill you got with your phone. If it isn't try to go in a shop of your carrier, they must have it stored somewhere. If it's not, maybe the person who sold you the phone did it illegally.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy pro

hi
I am thinking to buy the Samsung Galaxy pro
I read many review and specfication but dint find any information about its ARMV
and on some sites there is a debate that it has got secondary camera or not
and does the adobe flash player works same as it runs on samsung galaxy s
plz clear my douts
thanx.........
I just got one... it does not have any secondary camera.... But let me tell u... i feel that its one of the best android mid range phone in the market... i know its not one of the prettiest looking but it surely is one carrying a good processor speed and RAM
@gauravkittz: Congrats on your new phone!
I am also looking at this phone seriously so I hope you don't mind a couple of questions.
In pinoytechblog {can't post links yet, so just google it), the reviewer posted that the Facebook app has the icons on both side cut off by the screen edge and arcMedia player won't display in landscape mode.
Can you comment on both these point? It's not like I want to use arcMedia player, but I just want to know if there are incompatibitlity with some programs existing for this device.
Next, what's your battery life like? If Samsung had included 1500 mA battery instead 1350 mA, it would have been the BOMB! but would really appreciate any estimate.
How's the music playback with the earphones provided with the set, and how many hours of music playback can the set handle?
Well, I hope you can give me some of the answers for the questions mentioned, and any shameless promoting of the handset is also welcome!
Thanks in advance!
I picked my Samsung Galaxy Pro up on Thursday and am really enjoying it.
The 800 Mhz processor and memory seem to buzz along quite comfortably and I seldom have any slowdowns or freezes.
I have not found Adobe Flash Player in the Market, and when I log onto market.android.com and try installing it from there I get a message saying it is not compatible with my device.
The battery life is comparable to my HTC Desire GSM in an average day's use (with skype running all the time)
The device was bought from a Three store in the UK and is network locked to Three UK.
Something also to note is that the Android version is 2.2.2 rather than the 2.2.1 as advertised on the Samsung and Three website.
If you have any more questions post them here or on Twitter @Todoleo, I'll do my best to get back to you asap.
@ todoleo: Thanks for the reply.
Can you by any chance comment on a certain complaint by a customer in some website (which I forgot about) that there is no call accept and call end button and he had a hard time ending calls? It sound so stupid on paper, and looking at the phone, there is not call accept and call end button, but I always assumed that there were on-screen equivalent...
Can you give some numbers regarding battery life? I know that battery life is directly affected by how you use the phone, but gmarena user reviews gave such conflicting information, I thought I would ask you for some clarification.
Lastly, regarding Flash, I do remember reading in some website that the phone is Flash 10.1 compatible and some people claim to be able to play youtube vids direct from websites; are the misinformed or is it confirmed that the phone is Flash incompatible?
Thanks for all you help! Flash is not the deal breaker for me. Battery life is more important. If I can get some positive confirmation about the rumored 600+ standby time - or even a third of the time mentioned - I'll be very happy.

As far as battery life is concerned I can explain how I use the phone and how long the battery lasts. I am a heavy user and always have 3g/umts switched on with Skype+seesmic+gmail+gtalk running in the background.
When I get up and go to work, I unplug the phone and use it all day for calls, texts and data. When I get home in the evening, I still have battery left to do sofa surfing while watching tv. As far as I am concerned the battery life is similar to the HTC Desire and the ZTE Blade: enough to get me through a day.
The phone has no green and red call hardware buttons. The Software does have start and end call buttons. I believe the proximity sensor kicks in when in a call because when I move the phone from my ear to look at the screen the screen turns on and I do have an end call button to press onscreen.
So far I have not been able to install or run flash on the device, but I'll look into it and let you know.
Feel free to ask any more questions!
keyboard backlight
The keyboard backlight turns off after about 20 secs unlike the display which can be set. It is annoying when you sms in the dark... Anyone experience this problem...?

i just got the device, and it seems OK
screen is not the best with small text for my eyes
no flash support is a bummer although it was mentioned that it will support it over at GSMARENA.com
altogether the device is neat, and beats some blackberry devices with one hand
right now i have only one concern, how to update the software as there isnt Kies support!
i got mine recently. its an awesome phone. keyboard is snappy for messaging, phone calls sounds good for both parties. SipDroid works a charm. ummm, yeah as a phone its really really good. If you want a smart phone with a large screen, perhaps its not for you. but if you spend most of you time using a phone or sending messages, its very good. little apps work, things like skype work. ability to create VPN's back to your home systems (avoiding the phone networks) works. Google maps with the GPS etc. For me, the screen size is fine - i suspect the next gen will be bigger. I've never really bothered with twatter or facebook etc and its nice to have a phone by default where these aren't in your face.
basically, it works and I think works very well. My previous phone was a smartphone with oodles of processing and a large touch screen but I found I never used most of its potential and as I have a tablet (of which tethers happily to the samsung on 3G) for large screen browsing i recommend this phone!

You can install apps on the SD. Go to Settings/Applications...
The RAM is 512mb but Android needs memory to be loaded. For this reason you "only" have 279Mb of RAM. If we could install some cooked ROM we would have more RAM but I don't know if this phone will be as successful as for it. It's soon for this, I think.

I think QVGA resolution isn't supported...
I have been playing with my Galaxy Pro these past days. This is what i noticed.
1. Battery
I have an app called Battery indicator and OSMonitor which indicate the percentage of battery left. I charged the phone while it is switched off up to 100%. I switched it on without the plug. The app read 97%. And after five minutes, it dropped to 93%. Then it jumped to 87%. Then stayed 87% for a long time. I don't know what is the logic of these apps. Of course you cannot see the % in the notification bar. It just show the battery image, no percentage. So samsung might have intentionally not put the % so users will not complain. I will inform you later what is the actual time till it is dead.
2. Samsung IM App
Samsung is nice to include this. But only YM, Windows Messenger and Google talk? No Facebook?. Also, when using the app, you have no option to hide offline contacts.
3. Some apps cannot be seen in the Market
The reason could be that the app does not support the phone's resolution. I have android before and playing Words with friends. I cannot see this phone in the market.
I've heard ther's no kies support?
what does this mean?no updates?
I'm trying to understand if it's better value for money than the htc chacha
am sure chacha will be more expensive than galaxy pro. But 600Mhz processor? If the battery is significantly longer, I may shift.
Update regarding battery. In my third day of Galaxy pro, it passed 16hours of moderate to heavy use. This includes always online in Trillian (chat client with YM/FB)... Ocassional web surfing, sms.. No music/video yet as am still testing this as messenging machine...
I have my portable battery with me so i can charge it anywhere.. though, I home there will be a higher capacity battery available out there. 16hours of continous use is acceptable for me..

Pipo M6 RK3188 16GB Review

Hey guys, I just received my Pipo M6 today so I thought I'd offer my experience so far. Keep in mind that I am coming from an iPad mini and my daily driver is a HTC One X running Cyanogenmod 10.1.
Build Quality:
TBH, I was hoping for something a little better after reading some user reviews. It's still quite good overall but there's just a few too many seams and the edges are a little rough at certain points. Nothing major but it just feels like a made and designed in China product. It doesn't bother me so much though since I won't notice it after putting it in a case.
I was glad to find that underneath the temporary screen protector which comes with all new products these days, there was another one underneath it which means you won't need to bother with putting on one yourself.
Screen:
VERY pretty. Viewing angles are good and colours really pop. Brightness level is amazing and will surely be sufficient even if you are in the dessert. In terms of resolution, you can set it to HD mode or Normal which requires a restart. I couldn't really notice any differences although I might if I had another one sitting side by side. Only thing is, I used both AnTuTu and Android System Info to find out the resolution and there seem to be some discrepancies.
Under HD Mode, both apps reported a resolution of 1536x1952 with 320dpi. Now that's still within Retina level territory but they were advertising 2048x1536. Not a huge difference I know but still a little annoying.
At Normal Mode, AnTuTu reported 1600x1128 and Android System info reported 1200x1528. Not sure why the two differed but the difference is negligible when you do the math.
User Interface:
As you may know, you have the choice of using the standard Jelly Bean interface or the special Pipo interface which makes everything look a bit like Windows 8. I chose to go with the latter. Everything is quite smooth although perhaps not quite as flawless as my iPad mini but with Android devices, I've come to accept that.
I really like where they're going with this interface although there are some definite rough edges. It comes preloaded with 5 home screens labeled: Home, Media, Apps, Office and Web. These can not be removed. Within each, there are some widgets which corresponds to their respective headings. These widgets cannot be changed or removed. The other objects that cannot be changed or removed are the boxes ala Windows 8 which are predetermined to be either editable shortcuts or folders. I find this a bit annoying because sometimes I don't need so many folders and would prefer to just launch an app immediately when I tap it. You can add more homescreens and name them how you like but you can't change their colour or the types of boxes they contain. Overall, it all looks very nice but needs to be more customisable.
Performance:
I haven't had a chance to install any games yet but so far the "feel" of the device seems very solid. I do have a problem when trying to install N.O.V.A. 3, i can't even find it in the Google Play Store. After finding it through Google, it says that my device cannot support it. I don't get it. My One X can install this game and it's far below the specs of the M6. If anyone can let me know why this is, I can install it and let you know how it performs.
Battery Life:
When I opened the box, it was already switched on and showed that it had been running on battery for about 28 hours (so it was probably opened by customs since it was posted out a week ago). Since then I've had the screen almost constantly on doing various things for the last 5 hours and it still has 40% juice left. Pretty good then!
Conclusion:
Overall, I'm quite happy. It has some small niggles but then it was pretty cheap. For the people who are worried that the RK3188 can't handle a retina display, I think you can relax. Everything runs smoothly enough. Plus, if you really prefer a lower resolution, you can change it in the settings to conserve battery life and increase performance. It beats having an M7, M8 or M9 purely because they have much smaller batteries. The 2x5000 mAh battery in the M6 was designed for the retina screen so if you use the normal resolution, it would wipe the competition clean.

This is normal. Physically, the screen resolution is 2048x1536. The bottom of the screen is allocated for soft buttons, hence you get smaller vertical resolution available to apps.
Do a test - change the tablet orientation, and check the resolution again.
Thank you for this comprehensive review. I myself also own a M6 3g and can mostly agree with your points. I myself think the build quality is quite good. No gaps or loose buttons.

Yeah I think it's also not bad. I wouldn't really call them gaps, but the seam that runs around the edge of the device definitely doesn't look consistent on my machine; some parts look a tiny fraction wider than the rest. Maybe you had better luck. bBy the way, do you have any idea why the Google Play Store won't let me download N.O.V.A. 3? I'm sure the specs are enough since even my HTC One X running a Tegra 3 can download it. Only thing I can think off is that the internal storage doesn't have enough space but then shouldn't it download into the NAND Flash? I have plenty of space there.
UPDATE: Been spending some more time with it. I am liking it less now that it's frozen up twice (both times requiring a hard reset by sticking a little needle in the small hole next to the back camera - didn't lose anything though). Also, I have a few apps that force the tablet into a vertical orientation and every time, they would force it into an upside down position (where the power button would be on the bottom as well as the front camera). I guess this indicates that the tablet's natural position is contrary to its physical design. I find this quite annoying to be honest and should hopefully be easily fixable with a firmware update. I hope they get on it! God I wish I can install Cyanogenmod on this.

About the freezing. It happened also to me. Once even during a cold boot! But I am confident it is only a software problem. Maybe one day, when some of the excellent developers of XDA - developer take care of this baby we will get Cyanogenmod.
For the meantime I run RileyROM 1.2 (rooted and cleaned up, based on latest ROM from Pipo) and that works quite good.
See you

Another m6 user here also with a one x...
I also had the few freezes but since stopping using chrome, which runs like a dog anyway on this, it hasn't done it. Mines rooted and using the late June firmware. Only issue I've had other than that is a battery hiccup where it went from 65% to 13% in minutes and then back to 65% when the charger was plugged in. I have since ran it dead charged to 100% and calibrated the battery. The battery also doesn't have the correct MV reported
Other than that fast smooth even in retina mode and decent build. Can't find a hw 4k player yet tho like the a31

Yeah the first time it froze on me, I was also using Chrome. Can't remember what I was doing the second time. Anyways, I'm using the default browser now which suits me fine. Whats the difference between that and chrome anyway? i dont think ive had any issues with the battery although it did go from 14% to 4% awfully quick earlier. What do you mean the battery doesnt have the correct MV? Do you mean its not 10,000 mAh as advertised? How do you check that by the way?
I've been testing the more recent chinese builds (#17 is the latest one I've used) and have had no issues with Chrome or games. They apparently use the new Rockchip SDK 2.0, but I'm hoping we'll see these integrate the latest Mali drivers in the future. You can find the latest releases (currently #20) here http://pan.baidu.com/share/home?uk=1946954351 and if you don't want it in chinese, you should use the Rockchipfirmware kitchen to debloat and modify it. There are no changelogs included with these ROMs though, so you'll be flying blind.

On mine which is on the SDK2 firmware - there is a big difference with chrome and the stock browsers - chrome is massively laggy, freezes, stutters and is generally rubbish. Stock browser is fast and smooth. The only issue I have is not being able to scroll down on translated pages (htcmania) but change of orientation solves that..
regarding the mV issue, I am using GSam battery monitor and it reports the voltage as being 7mV

Hmm that all sounds a bit too complicated for me. I went through quite a bit of trouble trying to put Cyanogenmod on my One X even with so many instructions available out there. Dont know if I can handle installing a ROM on a device that's not so commonly supported.

Hmm well when I use Android System Info, it says my battery is 8mV. Does that mean its 8000mAh? If so then I'm gonna be a bitnpissed coz the whole reason chose the M6 over the M7 was because the battery. I actually prefer a slightly smaller tablet.

No voltage and current are different. eg a USB port outputs 5v (5000mV) at 500mA (or 0.5A)
Updating firmware on this is easy.. you use software on the PC to upload and flash.. the only panic I had was a very very long boot time the first time while it updates, I thought I had broken it. I was surprised how painless it was.
Thanks
Steve

Well I think I can flash it since they provided the instructions themselves and I found some other instructions online but when matnl mentioned debloating and modifying the ROM to make it English, that worried me. Do you think it's really worth it? Did u notice a big performance increase?

Mine was supplied with the pre SDK2 firmware, and it was a big difference going to the SDK2.0 firmware. I didnt debloat at all, I installed the one that said english, it booted in chinese, so i had to work my way through to changing the language to english. On first boot i opted for standard jellybean launcher and then installed apex for a bit of customisability. there didnt look like too much in the way of chinese apps and bloat?
Rooting was easy as there is a batch file on Htcmania that does it for you.

I just did the debloat bit because otherwise you're stuck with apps in chinese which are difficult to remove. But as Steve said, it's fairly simple to figure out how to switch the UI to english or anything you like once you've installed the ROM. Like Steve, I also use Apex Launcher rather than the Pipo one.
Another thing I did was use a different parameter file so that I have 4GB of user space rather than the standard 2GB. But this probably is beyond the scope of this thread.

Alright, my M6 froze again today whilst using Pulse so I think I've had enough. I'm gonna try to flash it with a rom. A couple of questions first. How can I check which SDK I'm on? It says my Kernel version is 3.0.36+ from June 25th. Does that mean I'm on SDK2.0 already since it's the latest?
Anyways, I don't wanna bother anyone here with writing out a full instructional so can someone please just confirm that all I need to do is follow this guide: http://www.freak-tab.de/rrileypm/First Time User Guide_pr0_rev5.pdf Of course, instead of using the RileyROM 1.2, I will use the M6 4.2.2 #20 from http://pan.baidu.com/share/home?uk=1946954351 . Also, why are there two files with the same name there? One uploaded on the 13th and one on the 15th of July? Thanks alot guys!

i bought my pipo m6 a week ago.. so far so bad!.. first off, i got a dirt INSIDE the screen, i was forced to remove the screen guard to see if its not a dirt in between the screen and the screen guard. unfortunately its inside the screen so there's no way of removing it without opening the whole system.. 2nd, im experiencing lags and forced close, QUAD CORE? 2GB RAM? what the!! my friends dual core phone is much better! mine doesnt even have to many apps yet. 3rd, i tried to play 1080 movies, mp4, it lags and crashes at me. aside from all this disappointing experience PIPO luncher form time to time force closes. another worse experience is that i experience FREEZE UP. the whole system froze while browsing facebook, for 20 minutes, all hardware buttons, touchscreen are not responding. i was forced to reset it via the little whole at the back of the device....i already updated to the 6/26 firmware release... but still getting the same issues. battery was good YES. but performance was disappointing. NOT TO MENTION the other users who comment about the SPEAKER! GOD! speaker sucks! based on a video i watched it was loud! but my SONY NEO V is way better! i hope that there is a FIRMWARE FIX to all this! except ofcourse about the screen dirt.. i was expecting to much about the new processor (QUAD CORE, better the DUAL CORE, RIGHT???), the ram but was getting to much frustration. the only GREAT thing about this device is the RETINA SCREEN, not including the DIRT of course, the the BATTERY!

I can understand your frustration. I've experienced everything you mentioned except for the dirt (although I do have a small black smudge underneath the glass near the right speaker). I'm really starting to regret getting this thing (especially with news of the Nexus 2 7" coming out soon at a possibly cheaper price point). I'm really hoping installing something like the RileyROM 1.2 will help fix these issues.

Does anyone have any experience with vkworld phones?
I ask because I have ordered Ulefone Be Touch 2 three weeks ago and have many concerns about it, the biggest being cheating about the android version.
Since my phone is not yet shipped I was thinking to maybe cancel the order and buy this phone instead. There is a 2GB RAM version, the screen is 720p, it has no fingerprint sensor but the battery is supposedly extremely good (6050 mAh), it claims to have Android 5.1, both SIM slots are 4G-capable and the manufacturer seems to be more serious and established, at least that's the impression I've got.
Has anyone else on this forum ever had a phone from this company and if so, would you recommend it?
Thanks.
I have one on order (the S model). Looking forward to it. It looks very similar to the Bluboo x550 and the iNew L4. I have experience with both.
First thoughts
Ok. I have mine now and have been using it for the last 24 hours.
Background: I have the following chinese phone:
Ecoo E04 3GB
iOcean M6752
Ulefone Be Touch 2
In addition to the above, my teenage son has had the Bluboo X550 which had to be sent back as the sd card reader stopped working. This was replaced with the iNew L4 and the sd card reader just started to display intermittent problems.
The VK6050s looks to be a very similar build to the Bluboo and the iNew with a few cosmetic differences. The configuration of the Sim cards and the SD card are exactly the same - as is the look of the battery albeit the VK6050s claims to be 6050mah, the Bluboo 5300mah and the iNew 5000mah. The vk6050s has 2GB memory compared with the iNew which only has 1GB of ram.
The vk6050s has partitioned it's internal storage into 2 whereas both the other phones make all of the storage available in a single partition.
I have been very impressed with the phone so far. The display is excellent and coming from 5.5" displays with 1080p my eyes can not tell the difference between them and the 720p display on the vk6050s. The ROM is smooth and appears fast (probably helped by the 2GB memory).
I have been able to root the phone. I used the same trick that I had on the Bluboo and the iNew: use KingRoot apk and then use the Replace_Kinguser_with_SuperSU-v1.8 script.
The phone also accepts my 128gb external SD with no issues.
The really good news is that the firmware for the phone can be downloaded from vkworld's website so you can have a play with root etc and still know that you can always go back to the original firmware if it all goes wrong. iNew have yet to publish their firmware.
I have also been able to successfully install the TWRP recovery that was made for the Bluboo (and is available over at needrom.com). It has let me make a backup (although I have not yet tried restoring it). It also let me flash the viper4android zip.
I do worry that it may end up suffering from the same SD card issues that the other 2 phones have. This issue appeared after a week or so. I am keeping everything crossed.
I hope this may be useful to somebody.
i think i will buy this phone insteat of bluboo x550
could anyone test its battery if its real 6050 mah or its just around 5000 like Bluebo ???
i want to buy innos d6000 but its a bit expensive. i only care about battery. if vk6050s has the same battery performance i could buy it.
10 days later and it is still going strong. This is my favourite china phone so far and I have had
Ecoo E04
iOcean M6752
Bluboo X550
iNew L4
Mlais MX Base
Ulefone Be Touch 2
Can you post some camera samples?
Is it any good?
8mpx interpolated to 13mpx?

Nice
From video reviews, seems like enabling the gesture features warns that it will consume more batteries
Does it really effect the battery life by much?
I'm interested too.

I will try and take some decent photo samples and post. I have no way of telling whether the camera is interpolated or not. I googled and couldn't find anything that tells you how to identify the sensor. If you know of how to do this then I am happy to try. I know it is an Omnivison which is pretty typical for this price point. from my experience so far I am very happy with the results.

I don't bother using the gestures. I can tell that they work as I have tested them. You've got to think that it will have an effect on the battery as I imagine there is a wakelock at play when using gestures so that the phone is looking out for them, but to be honest, isn't that the beauty of having a phone with a massive battery? You don't have to worry so much about all of the little tweaks like switching off notifications, location settings etc just to squeeze every last bit of power out of it. You can just use th ephone as it' smeant to be used without over worrying about whether it's going to last you the day or not.

I'm aware of that, just interested to know if it has some minimal effect to the battery life.
On oneplus one I only enabled gesture option for double to wake and camera while the rest are disabled and battery life is still nice with no noticeable battery drain.

Hi, were you able to use xposed tweaks on this?
Since you'll need a custom recovery like TWRP to flash the xposed zip file.
Couldn't find an exposed that would install. The 5.1 is actually a 32bit version even though the soc is 64bit.

I wonder how does that work.
So the problem is similar to bluboo x550 then with some users reporting flashing xposed file resulting in bootloop?
Based on this thread

No /system/lib64 folder or /system/bin/linker64??
Is this ROM uploaded any where?
Anyway - zip to resize userdata/intsd can be found here - if someone with a VK6050S wants to test.

Correct. Neither of those folders or files are present.
Funnily enough I used that same zip to resize the internal partition on another phone the other day and it worked very well. I'm not keen to test it out on the vk6050s yet as I have everything set up as I want it and don't 100% trust the twrp recovery as it was made for the bluboo. I know it works for flashing a zip and have made a backup but have not tried to restore yet.
Also, from what I understand, once the internal partition. Has been resized then you can't do OTA updates. I would rather wait a while to see whether there are any to come.
Besides, I still have over 1gb of internal storage left AND under storage settings it let's you state where you would like new apps to be installed: internal storage, phone storage or SD card.
On a side note, the 2gb of RAM is showing as having 1.3gb still free (with no apps open other than the chrome). Compare this with the ulefone be touch 2 wherr approx 1.9 GB of the 3gb RAM was taken up by the operating system alone. This give you some indication of how well the firmware has been optimised.

Not a problem - I had forgotten about OTA's I'm not 100% sure how they work in terms of the stock recovery but I think the scatter.txt in the OTA's are important - changing this to the new layout should let them install..
Are you sure you can choose where apps are installed directly? It's not just the /sdcard (Android/data; Android/obb etc.) that you are choosing.
Yea 1.3GB free out of 2GB is what I get with 5.0 ROMs (64bit) - Ulefone must be doing something wierd to be usig 1.9GB (swap/zram perhaps??)

Yea, I have that as well - on mine that is just the /sdcard - I still need to manually move apps to external sdcard.
If it is automatic to external then I think typically it's installed to internal first then moved to external so you might find that when you get to ~400MB free internal space you won't be able to install anything else.

hello, i'm alex from italy. i ordered the bluboo.... did i make the wrong choice?
i compared other phones...but i thought the bluboo own the best features..... for example ulefone be touch 2 has BUG BEZELS and higher price, inew only 1gb...
The only one competitor was the VK6050s ( S variant with 2gb) but i thought that the claimed 6000mah was fake and similar to bluboo 5300mah, bluboo calims that they used a BRANDED battery from "amprius". so i would trust more in the true 5300mah instead the 6000mah not sure to be true.
just to say... i've found a new phone, the NEXODUS ZEN which has 2gb ram, 6 inch hd display........ it's really low priced but it uses MTK6589T and android 4.2 but maybe it's more STABLE than a new release 5.1 still not fully known by chinese manufacturer.......

UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN UMI ROME MTK6753 Octa Core 64Bit 4G

Hello
I have UMI ROME MTK6753 Octa Core 64Bit 4G
From about 1 week, the phone turns off suddenly even if the battery level is above 90 % .
Even not hold a charge even if it is connected to the charger .
I bought the phone in January.
I Wind operator .
For six months there have been no problems .
Suggestions ?
Stefano
Same here.
Which firmware are you on? I have two Umi Rome phones, one on 3.03 and another on 3.04, and neither have this issue. I suggest you go to the umidigi forum to get the latest version (currently 3.05)
I ordered a new battery. Now it works fine...I hope for almost a year...
Hi.
Same here, bought a new one!!!
Firmware 3.01.
Now i have another UMI Rome problem!!!
Everything i touch on the display, do another process, menu or letter!!!
Made a factory reset and stays the same shi...
Thanks.
I had the same problem with my UMI Rome. Noticed the charge dropping very quickly, or the phone randomly shutting down and then after re-enabling the smartphone it was like 40%. Also, battery got a little swollen and I got a new one. It's working but the battery life / time on is not as good as was the stock one (even though it looks 1:1 the same).
I am on Firmware 3.04, updated via UMI software.
I also have a problem with the touchscreen, it's like its getting inaccurate, I have to press way lower than I actually need (like press below a big button to actually click on it). I have to look into recalibration.
On another note (sorry for a bit of an offtopic), anyone tried unrooting / magisk / phh's su to successfully play Pokemon GO? I haven't updated since their 0.35 version because I heard of the root checks and now that they enforced 0.39, I'm looking for a way to play it...
I am really unhappy with the UMI Rome, they promissed way more than they delivered. Battery life since the beginning wasn't satisfactory, now it's super bad. Screen isn't amoled, and there are multitouch and generally touch issues... the metal parts get scratched very easily, the plastic case I got is lowering my wifi reception really bad... Everything seems wrong.

Should I buy it?

Hello, I need a new phone and I'm looking at the Nokia 3 because it has an e-compass and gyroscope, sensors that are a must for me.
Sadly most brands are leaving e-compass behind. So I got really exited when I saw that all nokias have it.
So far the only thing that keeps me from buying it are the bugs I read about the phone in this forum and others: screen that doesn't turn on, battery drains, charging that stops at 80%, phone getting slow/choppy, phone that hangs after using the camera.
So I need to ask you this... how serious are those bugs? do you believe they're gonna fix them or they are not doing anything to improve it? is it worth it?
Thanks.

Personally I haven't experienced any of those bugs, the only thing that once happened to me is that once the phone ran down and refused to charge or come on for a while. That said, I'm not sure other phones don't sometimes have similar or worse issues.
Might I ask, why do you need a phone with a compass sensor? Can't you just get a camera app from the play store, or wouldn't such an app work without the sensor?
Anyway bottom line is, the choice is up to you. I believe getting a phone without issues is sometimes a hit and miss situation. Ultimately you'll have to make the decision for yourself. I'm not really sure I can advise you on that. I got my Nokia 3 because I'd always liked the Nokia brand (but couldn't stand the WP os) so this was my way of declaring solidarity with Android on Nokia.
My biggest issue with the phone is the lack of backlight on the navigation buttons, which can be inconvenient in dark places. If that is not a deal breaker for you, you can go ahead and get it, but I'd recommend searching for info on people who have used the compass sensor first

Thanks.

Hi there !
First,I want to say Nokia 3 phone is for me a very good choice :
-have a clean pure android OS without bloats(thats why I am not sure it is a wise choice to root it or unlock boot)
-is a very fast phone if you disable apps you dont need(faster that a rooted debloated Xperia)
-I use MX or FV5 camera for taking very nice photos (at 8Mpx)
-Charging never stops if you know that Nokia 3 have a new protection system for battery-if phone is on charger and you use it a lot on 4g internet the temperature of battery is increasing over normal and automatically is trigged the protection suspending the charge until temperature drop to normal.
So is not a bug,is an enhancement for better battery life.
-If you search the guys who are over complaining you will see they work for competitors of Nokia.Dont forget is a tough competition and there are a lot of high end phones who are not on Oreo update program.Nokia until now keept their promise to deliver monthly updates and upgrades .
Also suspicious is the fact that MTK had double time to deliver drivers but is still delaying.
If you want the best budget phone Nokia 3 is by far the best choice !
All the best !

Hi, I'm using this phone about 2 months, and i had no bugs so far. I didn't tested compass so i can't really tell you about that function. I think that Nokia will fix those "bugs" that other users experienced because they release OTA updates often so you can be sure that you are on latest version. Design of this phone is nice, my friends like it too. Battery life is great for me, it lasts whole day without charging. Sound quality of speakers are ok, i would say average, sound quality through headphones is behind average, but that's my opinion. Customization of this phone is so far good. We have unlocked bootloader, TWRP, SuperSU root and Xposed. I hope that Nokia 3 can have some good Custom ROM. Performance in games are good. I play GTA:SA, Asphalt 8 without bugs in medium settings. Multitasking is ok, i can have 5 apps in background and no apps will be restarted.
I recommend you this phone, i think that it won't disappoint you.
Thanks for your replies!

I use a few astronomy apps regulary, those need e-compass/magnetometer to work. Also I'm a mapper and use a lot the GPS, GPS without compass is only half as useful. Being able to register where you were facing while taking a shot or registering a note is very useful in mapping, astronomy, hiking, etc.

My advice is to buy TA-1032 variant which is European variant and have dual-sim because it have twrp and stock rom in case you bricked your phone.
Other variants are ok too, but only TA-1032 have twrp and stock rom at this moment. I hope that twrp and stock ROMs will be available for all variants.
I'm from argentina so I don't know wich variant i'm gonna find here... I know it is dual sim, but that's all i know about the nokia 3 they are selling here, EDIT: appearently the most common variant here is the TA-1028, very few sellers has it at this time that aren't even official stores and it's not that cheap, they are selling it here for USD 200-270. That's why i'm worried too because probably I can't get any local support.

TA-1028 is single sim, TA-1038 will probably be the dual sim most common. I don't know if Amazon ships to Argentina, if they do and it doesn't cost too much, I think you can get the TA-1032 model there

sellers says it has dual sim :/
Sadly I'm not willing to buy it outside my country because there are high chances that the postal office steal the package when it enters the country. Also import taxes adds up to 50-60% the price, so the risk is worthless. Easily I prefer to pay those USD 200-270 and be 100% sure I'm getting the phone. After all these troubles I need a really trustworthy phone.
