Well, after waiting quite a while on Endymion ROM, I've now flashed Fallout V5.0. Considering this is a fresh install, what other Mods/apps should I flash/install ? Also, what settings should I change ? I'm looking for stability as this will be my day to day ROM. Smart Ass v2 ?
And also, a huge thank you to Lowveld for the awesome ROMs that he produces. Your efforts are appreciated by all. :good:
EDIT: What launchers do you reccommend ? I was using Holo launcher... Looking for something different. Preferably theme-able.
and sorry for so many questions.

Congrats!
Currently I'm using:
amidabuddha's newest kernel (which is the new version of what is included in Fallout 5) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845039
Jellybean animations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765418
For launcher, definitely Apex. I use it all the time, on every ROM. It's worth buying the PRO version if you like it, gives you more options (like unread email/text notifications)
As I'm using Apex, I use itandy's HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874228
I use Smartass v2, but still playing around with that kind of thing. Basically, just read and play around, it's your phone!

Alrighty, I have flashed the JB animations. Don't plan on flashing the new Kernel.. Theres not much point. The one in Fallout V5.0 should suffice. I don't want to chance bricking the phone for no reason.
I have one more question... What is the point of the HTC Lockscreen thing ? Will it remove Sense launcher and keep the Sense lockscreen working ? I don't really need the pull ring and stuff. Will be happy using another lock screen alternative(GO locker). Is it possible to completely remove Sense considering I'll be using Apex launcher ?

There is little chance of bricking whilst flashing a kernel, though don't quote me on that. It's there if you find battery life suffers, and it's good to have the newest version of these things.
As for the HTC Lockscreen thing, unless you use widgetlocker or something, you'll always have the ring unlock thing. If you use an alternate launcher, you won't have shortcuts on your lockscreen - itandy's mod fixes that. Read the thread - you have to disable Rosie to install it. If you don't want Sense at all it might be worth trying a different ROM!

Cool, thanks for that. I have a problem though... Play Store keeps crashing ! Can't even get it opened. I have logged into my Gmail account... Should I try downloading and flashing GAPPS ?

Wiped Play's cache and it worked ! Thanks !
Very stable
Fallout v5.0 seems to be very stable with really no issues.
Using it is a daily driver is a breeze.
I believe all the necessary mods for a rom has already been included by the developer, like rosie fixes and options to get certain sense 3.6 animations and the ability to reasonably overclock and underclock the CPU.
I also like the way how we can avoid most third party apps like fastburst camera and most photo editing software as these features are inbuilt in the rom.
Just waiting for the jellybean version of something similar to come
I am coming from the SGS Fasciante, so am quite familiar with all this flashing and stuff...but I just (FINALLY) got my upgrade to the SGS3 and I wanted to make sure of a few things before i go messing around.
I have rooted and unlocked and installed recovery...root works fine..even AdFree app works...
Using pure stock rooted..no rom has been flashed...Android 4.0.4 IMM76D.I535VRALHE
I remember reading somewhere that this phone now has some checker built in that will give an error that "Unauthorized software detected"...or something...if you modify the os too much...
Is this still true...? I want to remove or freeze the crap apps that come with the phone, but don't want it lock up the phone on me...Is it better to delete the app, or use a freeze program...any suggestions?
What about OTA updates with this phone?...do I need to be concerned about that... will it one day just deiced to update and i loose root etc....
Also, I flashed the DSP Manager.zip i used on my Fasciante..and it is working..most of the time...doesn't seem to affect Amazon MP3 like it did on the Fascinate...DSP Manger also won't stay on a lot...keeps reverting to stock sound quality....keep having to start stop player app and tweak DSP app to get it to tun back on...any ideas...?

You should only get the "unauthorized software detected" message if you attempt to flash a custom kernel (Or ROM that contains a custom kernel) when you haven't unlocked your bootloader, the latest version of ez unlock (1.4 I believe) will tell you it unlocked the bootloader and flashed a insecure aboot. Check out this guide and this guide for apps that are safe to remove or freeze on your phone (If you think you may need the app again sometime just freeze it rather then remove it that way if you need it latter you can unfreeze), also pay careful attention to the guides and make a backup before removing or freezing any apps. I personally use Titanium Backup for any application freezing or removing needs. If your running the stock Verizon ROM and your rooted there is always the possibility of them pushing an update along that breaks root (Fortunately you can restore a CWM or TWRP backup when you did have root, or use odin to restore the factory image). Further more, an awesome app by the name of OTA RootKeeper allows you to keep root even if Verizon issues a OTA update. I'm guessing DSP manager and Samsung's music player equalizer options may be interfearing with eachother causing the issues you mentioned. Technically this version of DSP Manager is for the international GS3 but it should still work on our Verizon version (As always make a backup before flashing anything). Plus not all parts of the Fascinate DSP Manager zip may be compatible with the Verizon Galaxy S3 once again causing you random problems. Well hope I helped let me know if you need more help .
About DSP manager...work fine in all players..including the Samsung player for flac files..but not for mp3...I did find winamp player works perfectly though with dsp manger I flashed..will have to try the one u linked to...
Edit: no change..appears to be the same zip...o well..winamp player for me...not as nice as the Samsung one...but...yea..want the better sound...

I agree, while the Samsung music player has a couple cool features and awesome UI most of the features seem kinda gimmicky like the sound alive settings, like you said I personally would stick with winamp, which is still a realy soild music player and the great sound and customization of DSP manager.

Yea..now that i can transfer my media player to the SGS3, my Fasicante officially gets retired..
There is only 2 other things with he SGS3 I am annoyed with at the moment:
Email and Gmail apps are ugly white versions...(special Touchwiz version I assume)I am not sure if there are blacked out versions of these for stock...I tried adding in the Email and Gmail .apk I was using from ICS for the Fasciante...but it wouldn't work....may just need to find another app from the market...
There doesn't seem to be any settings to adjust the toggles on the notification drop-down....don't need some, and want to add brightness toggle.......

You should considering rooting your phone and installing CM 10 or AOKP they both have customizable quick toggles and inverted gapps for gmail and you can get regular inverted email too.

flash a custom touchwiz rom such as beans and there should be a quick panel settings in your app drawer to adjust the toggles. Same thing for aosp...also you know where there is a guide wink wink if you need any instructions for rooting, unlocking, and flashing!

I probably will...eventually...but I want to keep stock as much as possible...maybe once the final release of JB for this device is out...and the bugs are worked out.
Use titanium backup to freeze ur apps... Great program, should be mandatory for root users and ROM flashers (imo) . As far as what to freeze, general rule of thumb, dont freeze anything that starts with com or has andy the android as the icon. Be careful freezing any launchers and definately make a nandroid backup prior to any freezing.

Not my list, and I haven't tried everything to see what kind of results happen on what so play at your own risk and I would suggest backing up every single app you remove.
Guys, I am quite a flashomaniac. I usually install every single ROMs released in forums. But recently i am getting some serious lag issues on my phone.
After installing Sense ROMs(Sense 3.6 ICS, Sense 4.1 ICS or Sense 4+ JB 4.1) my phone performs perfectly without lag(with normal usage, nothing heavy).
But these ROMs being so large in size and some HTC bloat, and my hatred for sense, i want to use AOSP roms. But when I install AOSP/CM(10/10.1) roms, my phone lags like f**k after installing 2-3 apps(usually some themes, viber and Line) and using them. I always wipe my partitions and format my sdcard regularly. Still facing same lags. I try running my CPU at max frequency(my phone's chip supports only to 1728 GHz) and at performance governer. Still those lags remain.
I installed whole firmware package from latest HTC RUU too, still have same issues.
Does anyone have any idea about this?

I mentioned my basic apps. I see lags after installing those apps only. And I use Greenify too.
Yesterday i thought of trying to limit background processes to 2(from dev settings) and its working okay, but at the cost of having almost no-multitasking.
**14-03-2014 Update.
A while back i asked about a higher os version for the galaxy ace 2 (GT-I1860), today while searching around i found a really stable android 4.1.2 version for our phone with touch wiz and a ui that works without the screen going black and blurry like the XXBM (oldest JB version for our galaxy ace 2)! i went to samfirmware and downloaded the latest one (mine is a January 2014 relese for the UK NA1)
its 100% better than the older MK2 version for mor info and to download the NA1 for the samsung galaxy ace 2 go to samfirmwares (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/)
and type:GT-I8160
I finally found the biggest flaw on the samsung galaxy ace 2 the lagg is caused by memory consumption and background processes go to developer options in your settings and set background processes to 4 and i garuntee youll see imediet effect if anyone can make or has a perminant way to set background prosseses to 4 even after reboot please contact me id be glad to find out how.
apps that slow down the jb:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Google-chrome,(google .inc) after the unistallation of google chrome ive found out that my drawer and home screens are extremly faster with transitions i think this is because of its huge memory needs for me 152mb witch is just a nogo for our ace II,
my keyboard is 100% faster and it can now keep up with my fingers during typing messages and text boxes. and on a whole no lags.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iron man 3 the official game (gameloft), i am a huge fan of this game and ironman and i also have it on my tablet but quite sadly its not worth the ram & space hogging on the ace II i mean come on 1.1 gig my phone is 1.2!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
Turbo launcher (PHONEMETRA), although it works perfectly fine on my S4 and tab but sadly its too slow of a launcher app on the ace 2
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Helpful apps:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
avg anti-virus, helps detect viruses in apps and even lets you remotly lock/shout/unlock/locate your phone
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
screenlock (night vision cam), the most used and dameged key on every smart-phone is the power key to ensure minimal damege on your phone install this app and on launch it imedietly locks your screen.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
screen timeout toggle (chemdroid), we currently dont have the option to set the timeout toggle to "never", screen timeout toggle lets you set the time out limit of your phone.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
smart battery monitor (andreas auer), lets you monitor all the important battery stats inc. temprature, percent, health, type and tech.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
titanium back up *root* (titanium track), lets you safely back up your phone but does Require root.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
smart lockscreen protector (nez droid), protects your lock screen from power button menu.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
system app remover (jumobile), lets you remove system apps does Require root.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
App lock (do mobile lab) prevents unwanted acsses to you private apps.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
smart voice recorder (smartmob development), brings the most out of your mic and scince the recording app on our ace 2 in not all that good might be a good replacement sound recorder. (cant ensure that its ad free )
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips and tricks :
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
rooting, brings the most out of your android device you might want to consider rooting your ace 2.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
switching off developer options when your not using them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
switch off wifi, bt, screen rotation, gps, sound, mobile data, 3g and 2g and sync when not in use as these do a great job at hogging battery
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
try lower your brightness at all times, on almost all smartphones the screen is the biggest battery hog lowering the brigtness means lowering the battery usage by the screen.
I'm trying to solve the galaxy ace 2 problems and lags so any infomation and help is greatly apriceated thanks for your help

Most JB Odin packages contain kernel, system+hidden, baseband and bootloader so you'll have to wipe data (or flash 3-part firmware)

Hey, I've been using Poco X3 NFC for around 2 months now..and the refresh rate switching bugs me..when there is slight stuttering and slow animations.
Thx to XDA now through set it application, ive set it to 90hz for most of the time..but still there is some stuttering felt when u scroll the home screen of the launcher slowly..or the phone settings application..or gallery..sometimes chrome too..rest is smooth..can anyone suggest a fix? Also note that when I restart my device, then for 2 or 3 days it runs buttery smooth as.i wished it did constantly.. but after that the stuttering and slow animations appear through normal use..rest performance is fine during gaming and social media scrolling..but I don't like the dynamic Refresh rate switching..I wish it was set to permanent 90 Hz Instead of 120hz..

Sounds like you installed a lot of bloat on your phone. I would advise to search your app list for power hungry behaviour (always running in background, disabled battery optimizations, etc.) or even for suspicious and malicious spyware like Twitter and Facebook.
If you find such apps, remove them and try again. I'm sure the stuttering will vanish.

I use POCO X3 NFC surya with OctaviOS (Android 11, AOSP) with firmware version 12.0.3.0. I set static refresh rate to 120Hz and it is as smooth as butter. Have no stuttering at all. If you are interested in what exactly I did, read this comment.

I never used MIUI. I instantly flashed the custom ROM, as soon as I was allowed to. Before that, the phone was just laying around, waiting to be flashed. I have no idea what spyware this Xiaomi software has, so I refrained from using it all. That said, if you don't do extensive backups, then your data will be deleted on flash anyway, so why would I bother using the stock ROM for 7 days, just to remove it afterwards, anyway.
That said, I already heavily customized all looks, so potential screenshots wouldn't show how the custom ROM would look, instead it would only show how my personal customizations look, so no point in showing screenshots of that. Additionally, the parts that aren't customizable, like the Settings App, just looks like a stock Android 11 Settings App, I guess.
Finally, if you want to know more about OctaviOS, you can check out the thread I mentioned earlier. If you get to the first post of the thread I gave you my comment from, then there will be an explanation on OctaviOS and its feature set.

Right man..I respect that choice of yours using custom ROM..and tbh I think I'd do the same but only after some months.. I'm thinking that maybe future updates..and mui 13 next year would solve the trick..so got my fingers crossed..but when and I will flash my phone using a custom ROM..I'd definitely keep this OctaviOS in mind..thanks man
