Does owner of Titanium Backup drive a Lamborghini? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hey guys I was looking in the play store and I saw that titanium backup pro key has 500,000+ downloads while its charged at $6.58. So the founder of it must be pretty rich and probably drives a Lamborghini or Ferrari, right?
500,000 x 6.58 = $3,290,000

I'll take a stab at this ... lets assume that he gets 100% of the proceeds from sales (based on your maths above).
Now, lets take taxes into consideration. But, before we do that we have to know over what time frame these sales occurred. Tax brackets are based on your annual income, so this is important. The best I can determine is that the first release was sometime in 2010. So lets assume it's three years old.
Lets also assume they consistently sell the same amount of licenses per year at the same price for simplicity's sake.
3,290,000 / 3 = $1,096,666 per year.
That puts them smack into the highest tax bracket of 39.6% per year. So ...
$1,096,666 * .396 = $434,248 paid in taxes. Also, assuming they keep good books and aren't too clever with their taxes, investments, write off's ect. Too many variables to consider here.
So, that means, that before paying staff, paying overhead (again which deals with complexity of write-offs, deductions, etc so we'll skip that) they pulled in:
$1,096,666 - $434,248 = $663,386
Now you have to factor in misc living expenses such as mortgage, utilities, beer, etc ...
IIMHO ..... No, they do not drive exotic sports cars. But they could very well be living comfortably when you consider the median US household income is only $50,233.00.

I think I read once that although people think they can multitask, the human brain isn't capable if doing it. And one or both tasks will suffer as a result. Just my 2 pennies.

Computers also can't do it, and the tasks suffer. It's called "context switch overhead". However, if the processors are fast enough - you can lose the overhead and still be capable of doing whatever phones are doing these days.

Doesn't matter, question answered.

Well... if it matters, in September of 2010, he was still selling licenses outside of the Play store (you had to pay via his site and wait on an registration file)...

Doesn't the math depend on what play considers a download? Are multiple downloads by the same account treated as one?

I had this exact thought. A lot of people download TB whenever they clean flash a new Rom. If each of these counts toward a unique download, I've contributed at least 30 to that count.
And what about updates? Do those count individually too?

The whole world is going micro-transaction at this point simply because dev's know it's an easy way to leech money off kids using their mom's credit cards. It's sad, frustrating, and annoying. I'd rather pay $5 up front for a good app then having someone charge me $.36 for new armor or something silly like that.

Who thinks xda should join the blackout?

many popular Web sites across the net are shutting down for 1 day on January 18th in protest of the 2 bills the united states government is trying to force through Congress. These bills would give the united states government the power to shut down entire Web sites, much like China does. This could even affect xda. Think of the government shutting xda down because some newb posts a file he shouldnt, or because a leak for a device specific os post is seen as infringement.

All seriousness tho... This is an informative link to some folks involved in the anti-sopa movement.
At least in America I think we've become way too complacent. It's frightening what they could do with the bill that passed, but got floored, if just *one* man changed his mind.
Not long until it hits England I reckon. Can't believe we are extraditing a 23 year old to America over piracy... sad times.
Waste of time imho. People who are against SOPA should be out there educating people. The more people understand the more influence we have. If there is a blackout for a day a lot of people will overlook it.

the idea is pretty scary...it's especially disappointing seeing as we're talking about the US in this case censoring the web, while they criticise China for doing exactly that. So much for "freedom of speech"...

you should assume that any electronic communications that you do, is not private.
Has anyone actually looked at their tos (terms of service) to see if this IS legitmately a breach of contract? I'm not surprised nor do I ultimately care that I'm being recorded...I figured as much but I have nothing to hide either. What DOES upset me is that we were not notified of such....Most states require that we must let the other party know if we are recording them...but then the government totally blows that off and just does it without our knowledge (even if we pretty much assumed they did)....and the whole lets sacrifice our privacy in order to offer better security for our country...uh no...I don't trust anyone but myself, wife and daughter for my security heh. Again....just curious as to if anyone has checked or knows of the actual legalities of this and if it IS indeed a breach of contract.

Ho hummm...... the NSA has been intercepting all our calls and processing the voice and data for many years now, so Verizon forking over a few bills and records doesn't mean a lot .
Its all covered by the Intelligence Oversight Act which says that congress has oversight and must be informed , so they are all complicit in this violation of our constitutional rights, so who you gonna call, the UN?
They'll certainly be bored with my records. I haven't used 50 minutes in two years. Data, on the other hand, is a different story

Anyone work at AT&T?

I'm not sure if this type of thread is allowed, but I didn't see a more appropriate section to post it. I'm an 18 year old student who like many of you knows a good deal about cell phones and electronics. Because of this, I thought getting a job at AT&T, or any other cell phone retailer wouldn't be a bad idea. I hear you get commission, and I'm confident I could do well. I'm just wondering if anyone could share some information about requirements and likelihood of getting hired.

like Marshall24 said, if you can tamper with the bootloader and understand how everything under the hood works you have the chance to get a much better job, hence you could be getting prototypes at your doorstep for you to try and break in.

I highly doubt that's the case, I have a friend that's a Manager at a local retail location for T-Mobile living in CA and she barely hits the 40K a year mark. Unless he's a top ranking sales associate nationwide I doubt he makes over 60K a year, maybe 30K.
