I bought a $25 Play Store card from a store(obviously) and bought power amp Full Version Unlocker. If I Flash different roms and such and wipe it out, will the app that I purchased still be available? I do not know if there is like one purchase per device or what, but if I purchase apps I wanna be able to have them no matter if I flash roms, wipe out, etc.
Thank you for all replies.

The paid app is based on your gmail account, it doesn't care how many or what device you installed it on, as long the app is compatible with the device. So if you want to install the app on your phone, your phone has to have the same account as your tablet.

I use easyprofile for swift profile switching when my phone moves around the country with me.
IE when at home it recognises that and enables wifi, when I am driving/out and about it switches wifi off and turns on data
When I'm at work it disables both and puts my phone on silent.
Anyway, I digress. What I wanted to add is that I paid for this on googleplay like you did similar. However when I loaded it onto my tablet the registration did not work correctly.
This was as it was device specific. A quick mail to the developer resolved it at no cost.
So yes, bought on google play = use on all devices, but be careful that sometimes there is just a small extra step to make. In this case registration of my device with the software.

This would be the case if the device's Android ID were to be used for registering the software instead of it being a 'simple"registration by mail address or coupling to Google Play account. I find that a less satisfying way of copy protection for it would limit you to that single install unless the developer is willing to grant you another registration (he or she cannot make the distinction between the second registration going towards a new device or an old(er) one that has had a new ROM installed changing the Android ID).
Tip: Titanium backup signals the Android ID having been changed compared to the one before a reinstall, and subsequently offers to restore the previous one. :good:

So titanium, which I do got the apps backed up, will restore the android ID? Also is there a way to back up the ID for later purposes? I dont plan to buy often but want what I buy .

Actually, I only ever use in terms of restoring directly after a clean install -- if the developer stops supporting his/her application or game, the backup will run fine anyway.
You could, however, try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bzgames.androidid&hl=en
...though I do not know how to restore the Android ID you see there. Here an ongoing discussion about the pros and (mostly) cons of using the Android ID as an identifier:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2785485/is-there-a-unique-android-device-id
It is a relatively clumsy way, and you might call it bad practice now that Google provides better methods (which, fortunately, have seen increasing use of the past year).

are you rooted? If so, just get MarketEnabler and use 23400. Then you can just download it directly from Google. Than occaisionally you need to run it to see if app got any updates.
I do/did this for BBC iPlayer, BBC Olympics, NFL Game Pass.
I don't know how to pull the APK for them. Version 1.3 of the BBC iPlayer is a bit nicer than 1.0 I had used previously. This one lets you use mobile data networks instead of WiFi only; although the version I had was hacked to let you use mobile data anyway. The media player runs better too.
Rooting is easy for the TF700T and does not void warranty. You don't need to unlock to root either.
Not yet rooted waiting until after jelly bean

understandable, I guess. But really, there is no need to wait since it doesn't void warranty and may not be rootable by current methods when JB does come out. Plus, you can use Titanium Backup to back up your apps so when they update them and get borked, you have the previous version at hand. It becomes important when you start flashing roms. Plus, some updates remove and change things, and not in good ways.
Needless to say, the defurgbs method does not require to unlock the device or to flash through a recovery. Personally, I'm waiting to unlock the device till there is something worth flashing because of voids warranty and apparently Hulu Plus will stop working because it removes whatever DRM key it looks for.
Yes I understand but it is only the all for the moment

Recently, I contacted Asus about the issues that we have seen since the JB update. Since I support a number of these tablets for clients, I have had lots of backlash since the update. I emailed Tien and Gary about what advice they could provide when dealing with these units. I have included the last response that I got from him that addresses factory resets and cold booting, as well as a method he recommends for installing software after a reset:
"Hi Jordan,
There are people out there who believe doing multiple factory resets works, but I do not think so. Once a device has been reset, there is no user data left on there. Everything is back to factory. There should be no way data can be conflicting. Restoring a device that has nothing on it in the first place would not make a difference. However, multiple cold-boots do seem to help. Start with a factory reset and then as you reload your data back on (apps, media, e-mail, ect), cold-boot after something has been loaded on. For example, once and app or 2 has been reloaded, cold-boot the device before you load another app. This is the same for new app s being downloaded also. You want to keep the cache clear as much as possible.
I understand that a firmware update, or even news of a firmware update would be a lot easier, but again, I apologize as I do not have that kind of information. HQ releases the updates, and for the most part, they are pretty tight-lipped about them.
Sending in a bunch of units might not the best solution - you are right. I would try cold-boots u for now. JB is still new and there are definitely some things that need to be worked out with it on the TF700. I would give them some more time to deliver a solution.
Tien"
I have yet to try this process on my tab, maybe someone will beat me to it. Hope this information helps someone out there.
The issues that I reported are:
1. Graphics related issues that show as a flicker of the top 1/3rd (sometimes the entire) screen while in landscape, also a line of black pixels flashes for a moment on that same part of the screen. I have seen this in many apps at this point including the stock browser and in the XDA developers premium app. It seems unrelated to the application since I have seen reports of it on the desktop. (this is driving our users crazy- need a fix quickly!)
2. Backspace key is not respected in many applications if the asus keyboard is enabled. There are lots of examples on xda but this worked in ICS and now, does not.
3. The auto screen dimmer does not work properly and will dim, and not increase brightness when tapped. It also seems much more distracting and does not dim as gracefully as before(I know it can be disabled).
4. When docked, a Bluetooth keyboard that is paired with the device, will not function. A usb keyboard will work, but it is odd that Bluetooth keyboards will allow no input at all while docked.
5. Crash of the device with a white screen- have seen this 3 times.
6. Wifi direct removal is a major disappointment as many users had a need for this functionality.
This is good information, thanks. The only real change I have witness that's a problem is Google navigation freezing or rebooting the TF700 during trips longer than a few minutes. Intermittent problem but it has happened on three separate trips.
I'm getting the occasional black lit screen crash/freeze

Not sure where you are seeing this. Wifi Direct was not removed with JB. In fact, I noticed it performs much better.
The option for sending a file via WiFi direct is avialable under the share options. If you are looking for it directly under the settings menu, it was just moved to a different place (not an ASUS thing.....it was moved by Google). Go under Settings -> Wifi and click on the menu button to access it (3 dots in the lower right hand corner).

Thanks for that! I had a couple of users who complained that it was not there. I emailed them to let them know it how to access it, they appreciate it.
--Would have been nice if Tien had mentioned it-- ya think?
Never even tried that feature and assumed it was removed since Asus listed it as a feature that would be removed with the update. I get it now.... they removed their custom support of it in favor of the stock android setup.
Kind of funny that an update announcement was posted today, I have been back and forth with them quite a bit in the last couple of weeks and the last email I sent to Tien and Gary said this:
"Unless you have a newer firmware with some of these issues resolved, I am not
sure how offering to send them to you will do any good....
Please let Gary know that this is effecting companies that have purchased over 50 of
these tablets at a time. We need resolution!"
Maybe I got his attention. I have to support these tablets, and so does Asus, they are an international company that is trying desperately to be THE go to hardware partner for cutting edge tech. Partnerships with the big G and M$ are evidence of that. I hope they realize that this is a defining year for them, either they will get their support in order or they will fold under the pressure of the added user base.

I also don't have the time to try, but I have my own share of doubt regarding these suggestion. Cold-booting my device after loading one or 2 apps is just too much of a hassle and I doubt that it provides any practical benefit. My friend's Nexus 7 haven't been turned off for weeks and I don't see any slow down or problems. The same thing can be said about my phone as well. I know they are different devices, but I don't think Google designs Android in such a way that you need to restart your device every time you install a new app.
Overall, I believe all of the problems above can only be fixed with OTA updates, and no amount of cold-boot or factory reset can fix it. I might be wrong, but it is just my opinion.
Anyway, thanks for sharing. Maybe someone will benefit from this discussion.
Since nobody has tried this method, I guess I will give it a shot today. Of course I have major doubts that this will actually work but if Tien said that there is some benefit, I have to at least try it. He is one of the only reps at asus that has ever given us any real help with the TF series.

Seriously? You think cold booting is a hassle? My friend it takes an extra second of hold the power down button when turning your tablet on. Come on stop lazy. Also if the op isn't blowing smoke, then these suggestions are directly from asus, so why would they lie? I personally have seen a huge benefit from cold booting after a couple of app installations. I do it anyways because i do like to keep my cache clear.

If a computer requires regular cold booting to work properly, it is defective. A Linux-based system should be able to reach uptimes measured in years (theoretically, if no updates were required).

Seriously? If you buy this expensive gadget you shouldn't be doing extra hussle like cold booting after installing an app or two. It should work without. This is the only Android device with this kind of problems. Not sure if this is some kind of memory leak or what is going on. Still its interesting that for example on Galaxy S 3 even beta roms work better than these official ones from Asus.
Asus designs beautiful units, then manufactures them with horrible QC and finally don't seem to know much about software optimizing.
Finally got around to trying this process.... Maybe I installed too many apps at one time since after the first few installs, i was doing more than 2 in some cases. No difference doing this method over factory reset. I am going to contact them again today with feedback from the process and latest update.

I can't say that I'm surprised, but I really appreciate your effort. Thanks for sharing.
To be honest the response seemed like a "SYA" response that was so far fetched and so much hassle you wouldn't bother to try it and they could push your issues aside.
I find it funny that they claim "Jellybean is still new..." when it has been out in the wild since around July or earlier. That seems like plenty of time to get the software optimized for your flagship device(s). If you want my honest opinion, the TF700 was placed on the back burner a little bit because of the Nexus 7 that Asus and Google partnered up for. That took priority but I do find it odd that the hardware in the Nexus 7 almost mirrors the TF700, yet the Nexus 7 does not exhibit the same odd behavior or issues we are experiencing (some of us anyway) on the TF700.
I must be one of the blessed ones because I'm not experiencing all the issues that are mentioned here. I had the hardware issue of screen flex and bent adapter port, but other than that and getting a replacement I'm pleased. I actually considered getting a galaxy note 10.1, but just knew I wouldn't be satisfied with the display. The screen is the major aspect of a tablet and you really can't find a replacement at this time for the full HD of the tf 700. I have noticed that my pad is running really well after the last update and I'm really happy I didn't go with the note. I'm totally stock and not rooted. I may root one day if needed and there is a method that doesn't void the warranty by using the bootloader (if there is please let me know...I'd love to use titanium backup with root).

ICS can be rooted easily even with the locked bootloader. If you are already on JB, follow the guide to downgrade to ICS 9.x.x.30, root using the debugfs method, use OTA Rootkeeper, and then apply the OTA to JB.
Hi all!
Before I phrase my question I should inform that I have an ongoing issue with Asus regarding FOTA not working after Asus replaced my MB, and rear camera functionality. I'm on the TF300T, bought july 2012, completely stock, no root, no unlocked bootloader. I'm pretty much a newbie and do not wan't to lose warranty by doing things I don't understand .
As stated above, I have an ongoing issue with Asus; my MB and rear camera were replaced in connection with the third RMA (rear camera issue). The tablet I handed in had the ww 10.4.2.13 version. All updates from ICS have been performed via OTA and have worked flawlessly. When I got the tablet back, I discovered that it had the ww 10.4.2.9, which I experience as buggy and not very satisfying (in addition - the camera issue had not neen resolved). Fine, I'll just update OTA, I thought, but my tablet states that no update is available. I have tried this over a period of weeks now - no update is available. Actually, the tablet has been handed in to Asus Holland for a fourth RMA and they now claim that no errors exist.
So, what could be the explanation to the fact that I don't see any updates? My internet connection is working, all default settings after numerous factory resets and cold boots, no google account issues, other brand equipment in the household works fine. I know that replacing MB also means different MAC address. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the old MAC address so I can't really compare. Could MAC be the issue; meaning that maybe Asus failed to sync/pair the new MAC with serial# or other certain HW ids, and that there somehow needs to be a match between these?
I'd appreciate any input on the issue as I need to understand certain things before having further discussions with Asus.
Rgds,
sten_amund
It probably not your device since my 3 day old tf can't get ota update either. I am on the same kernel version and getting the same error message as you that no update exist. Which is false. So I went to Asus site and download the latest and manually installed it. Big difference in performance.

About a month ago I bought a Chinese quad core tablet. After a week of not shipping I got a refund. After this I buy a refurbished Tf300t from newegg and got it about a week ago. It was great and I enjoyed it a lot. About 10 minutes after connecting my google account and installing a lot of apps the touch screen stops working. It won't respond in any screen orientation but I see email notifications on the lockscreen. Awhile later it starts working, then stops, then starts. I do a factory reset and a cold boot several times and the same thing happens every time.
My tablet is now in transit back to Newegg RMA, and it seems that this tablet is out of stock on the website so I'm expecting to get my money back.
So my question is, should I buy a new tf300t or something else? Is the galaxy note 10.1 or the tf700t worth it? Screen resolution is not a major concern to me, strictly performance. After having so many issues trying to get a tablet I want something that I will want to keep for awhile.

Im for the Note 10.1. I dont think its worth the ~400 bucks people want for it though. However, if it had the TF700 display on it then i would pay the ~400 for it. But right now, im happy with my TF300T after making my edits and custom apps. Now just to get DSP working on CROMI ROM.. I already made an app to "kill" the foreground activity so i no longer need hold back to kill. CROMI seems to be the only one that likes Flash content without crashing the browser. Unless CM10.1 gets better. Im waiting for a more stable release.
But yeah Note 10.1 is my fav so far.
I bought the TF300T because it was what I could afford. It also had the keyboard option, that
I personally got a little disappointed with the tablet performance, but after I installed CleanROM,
using my tablet became a pleasure.
So, if you buy this tablet again, and flash a custom ROM, you're probably going to have a good experience.
But if money is not an issue, it might be worth it to take a look at the other options in the market.

Yeah I was excited to flash Clean Rom, but another issue the tablet had was the error message when using the asus unlock tool. Apparently I would have had to send it to Asus to get it unlocked. Possibly because my Tf300t was refurbished.
I'm getting a bursary payment from my university on Thursday and I was planning on using the money to buy the parts for a new computer then, but I've now decided to wait till next month and put some of the money from said payment towards buying an Infinity instead as a early birthday present for myself as well as using it as a device for reading relevant materials for my Computer Studies degree (That, plus it looks like it'll make a great device for viewing HD anime fansubs as well! ^_^)
In the meantime, do any of the members here in this forum who own the device have any advice for a new owner, such as what's the best custom ROM, the best accessories, how to make it the best it can be, etc?
First of all: 'This is an awesome tablet.
But you will soon discover that the stock ROM has sad and perplexing limitations.
If you plan to unlock and flash a custom Rom anyway, my vote goes for CROMI!
It's based on the stock ROM, but much, much better!
On stock this tab crawls, on CROMI it flies, it's stable and incredibly well supported.
Just follow the CROMI threads in the Development, General and Help sections for a while and you'll see what I mean....

On stock this tab crawls, on CROMI it flies, it's stable and incredibly well supported.
Just follow the CROMI threads in the Development, General and Help sections for a while and you'll see what I mean....

I'll be sure to check CROMI out if it's that good. How does it compare to other ROMS such as Cyanogenmod?
I second the suggestion of CROMI. I just unlocked my tablet over the weekend and there is a MASSIVE difference in how fast apps load and especially PDFs (from a Class 10 MicroSD, of course) and browser performance. I still have to explore Data2SD, but I've heard good things about that too.

I would check out the relevant threads on this forum. In the end it is a matter of taste and preference.
I have not tried Cyanogenmod and I don't see any reason to do so. My tab runs perfectly on CROMI.
I cannot imagine it running better on another ROM.
CROMl is based on the Asus stock ROM, CWM is build from the ground up. From what I hear and read, this fact seems to make CWM prone to more bugs and hardware Conflicts. But that's just my opinion...

I can confirm you really need to root it, otherwise buy another tablet!
Once you are rooted, it's a great device.
I used Cromi for a week and it's good and fast, no doubt about it.
For me personally performance is not only about speed, but also about customize options and for that reason I flashed Baked BlackBean 8 and I will not flash anything else for a while. It's without a doubt the best ROM if you like AOKP roms. If your not familiar with I suggest to start with Cromi! Like said above, support is amazing, to be fair it's the only thread 'alive' in de TF700 forum compared to One X forum.
Btw: I didn't try CM10, but support there is also great from Dasunsrule

My suggestion would be to use it and use it well for the first month or two to make sure the hardware is functioning properly before going the custom ROM route. The reason for this is you will have to unlock it to flash a custom recovery and ROM, and this will void your warranty.
If something goes wrong after you have unlocked you are SOL for warranty coverage.

1. Try and get NvFlash working. A safety is ALWAYS a good thing (you especially value that when you have a military background. ).
2. Unlock, and flash a custom ROM -- stock ROM sucks Major Balls' ass..
My preference is CROMI -- it's stock-based so you have the quick access features, full IPS+ support, full dock support, etc. that some other custom ROMs may struggle with (and even if stable now, they may get to struggle with them as new Android versions arrive on the stage). It does come down to preference, as the rest said, too. You cannot go really, absolutely wrong.
3. I had a rather thick leather case -- it might have been rendering too much pressure on the connections between the tablet and the dock (I still have to find out what caused the breakdown of the docking clamps... <ggrrrr>). I'd suggest either going 'naked' for a while (be careful not to let it tip backwards!) or get a really thin "foil case" (some are referenced in the Accessories forum).
4. Give data2sd some consideration -- that means getting yourself a nice, big, blazingly fast microSD card -- again: off to the Accessories forum you go.
5. With a little time, you'll be tinkering along with us, and get to arrive to the main point: enjoyment.
I just want to thank everybody who's posted here and offered some really great advice so far.
I'll definitely be installing CROMI and taking my time with the device when I finally get hold of it on Thursday.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Galaxy Tab 10.1 but I decided to get an upgrade as it was running out of space plus I was getting frustrated with the lack of a MicroSD card slot so I could transfer apps to a card as well as put media files on it.

Marty had some great advice actually. When you get your tablet, first thing: check your firmware version. If you're lucky it comes with ICS, firmware version ending in .26.
If that is the case: Do not update right away! Search XDA for how to make a NVflash backup.
If you have that, your tab is unbrickable = peace of mind.
I didn't know that and upgraded to JB right away (groan).
But I believe .26 is the last firmware version where you can use the NVflash tool. ICS .30 is already too late...

I'm actually blushing.
The NvFlash procedure was a definite PITA -- it took me an entire evening and a few hours from the night to quit in frustration, only to try a different USB port the next morning and getting it to work right away. As you said, you'll really have to do your best and be extremely unlucky in order to brick it once you have your backups safely tucked away.
I really do find it extremely annoying that ASUS had decided to block NvFlash on the newer firmwares/bootloaders -- I fail to see any advantage in doing so. Now, they'll have more people sending in bricks that could've been easily recovered in the safety and comfort of the owner's own home, and their rather dense (in the sense of stupid) repair center/customer service is overwhelmed already. (People have been mentioning receiving their 700s from the repair center after having run through the RMA procedure twice -- :S -- without the issue actually having been solved [private communication].
Useless gits.
UPDATE: I managed to place a order with Amazon UK yesterday for a 64GB MicroSD card (Class 10 of course) as well as a Caseen Perfecto case for the Infinity itself as well as a computer case for the HTPC that I'll be building next month.
As for the Infinity itself, I was planning on buying it through Currys today via their Pickup and Collect option, but for some reason the option wasn't available at all and not only that, they didn't even offer a next-day delivery option to where I live in the UK, so I decided to order a used version from Amazon UK instead for £504.99 (which I'll be thoroughly testing and checking out before rooting it later on). In fact, I think Currys ended up doing me a favor as I've now saved £95.00 on the retail price for the 64GB version instead of the £50.01 that I would have saved if I had managed to buy it brand new from Currys today!
It's a bit of a shame that I'll have to wait till tomorrow to have it delivered (for free, thanks to Amazon Prime), but I know it'll be worth the wait at the end of the day.

Good to hear you decided to take the plunge and join our merry bunch. I do hope that delivery is swift and all arrives well, and that you get a perfect Infinity!
By the way, in addition to my earlier reply: I have been testing data2sd lately, and it does make a significant difference, especially with (un)installation of appd and web browsing. Something to keep in mind; you may regard this as an additional recommendation, hahaha!

If you do decide to root it in the end, ensure that you install "Browser2Ram", this significantly increased the performance of the stock browser.
Before rooting the native browser would crash with just about every webpage that was a bit overpopulated with script.
Bought myself an infinity tf700t - also my first post
Hi to all
thought it was time I scrapped my chinese Tablet and bought something more powerful, bit of an impulse buy but it did not cost me too much as purchased from E***, 1 dead pixel but actually has 3, I am not too bothered at the moment, it did occur to me that I could probably get this repaired under warranty, cant be more than a year old, would Asus honor this, would I have to provide receipts, anyone know where I stand in regards to this, I really do like the tablet, it is responsive and screen looks good, internet is really quick, be good to know what other things this bad boy can do, what I would like to ask is what apps would you all recommend and if anyone has found a decent case and cover for both components. I have been reading all the posts on custom roms, that might be a little bit beyond me as I have no experience of this. also read that it is only possible if tablet is running ICS, my is on JB 4.1.1
there was another question I wanted to ask, does this device allow for tethering to my iphone so I can use the 3g capabilities, and how is this done if possible, please make it simple as I am a bit of a Noob. as you have gathered I do need some help unleashing the power of my new toys, interested to hear anything or any suggestions, best apps, I would be extremely grateful and many thanks in advance. have a good day guys.
Kind Regards
Paul:
I finally got hold of the device a few hours ago and it definitely is a really nice device... Unfortunately, it seems that the one I got from Amazon UK has the Jellybean firmware so it looks like I'll have to downgrade then upgrade before rooting and adding a custom rom to it.
Can anybody point me in the right direction on how to downgrade then upgrade? The build number according to the device is "JR003C WW_epad 10.4.4.18-20121012".

I tether mine regularly to my Motorola RAZR (Android based). I don't know how the iPhone identifies the wireless network it makes available when tethering. Once you find that out, you just connect the tablet to it, entering a password if you set it up that way. From then on, that connection should be remembered for easy connection.

If you want to unlock, you don't need to downgrade, and you don't need to root - just unlock and install a custom pre-rooted ROM.
If you want to root without unlocking, you need to downgrade to 9.4.4.30, root, and use OTA Rootkeeper and incremental dlkpgfile updates to get back to JB.
