are you rooted? If so, just get MarketEnabler and use 23400. Then you can just download it directly from Google. Than occaisionally you need to run it to see if app got any updates.
I do/did this for BBC iPlayer, BBC Olympics, NFL Game Pass.
I don't know how to pull the APK for them. Version 1.3 of the BBC iPlayer is a bit nicer than 1.0 I had used previously. This one lets you use mobile data networks instead of WiFi only; although the version I had was hacked to let you use mobile data anyway. The media player runs better too.
Rooting is easy for the TF700T and does not void warranty. You don't need to unlock to root either.
Not yet rooted waiting until after jelly bean
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
understandable, I guess. But really, there is no need to wait since it doesn't void warranty and may not be rootable by current methods when JB does come out. Plus, you can use Titanium Backup to back up your apps so when they update them and get borked, you have the previous version at hand. It becomes important when you start flashing roms. Plus, some updates remove and change things, and not in good ways.
Needless to say, the defurgbs method does not require to unlock the device or to flash through a recovery. Personally, I'm waiting to unlock the device till there is something worth flashing because of voids warranty and apparently Hulu Plus will stop working because it removes whatever DRM key it looks for.
Yes I understand but it is only the all for the moment

Hi
I'm reading the threads to get ready to root my infinity but I wonder what will happen on my warranty. I know that this has already talked about many times, but I have 2 reasons to ask again :
1/ I'm not living in the US and i wonder if root is fine for warranty in my country (France). Any french here that know about it ?
2/ i have found 2 threads saying the contrary :

Note: Rooting will NOT void your Warranty!!!
==> root ok
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758160
Note in chapter 6. Disable remote management that allows ASUS (or anybody in charge of their servers) to track, lock or wipe your device over-the-air or steal your data, which has been confirmed ASUS is doing: read the whole story about warranty voided because of rooting here.

Thanks for your opinion

Nobody can proof that you're rooted because you can easily unroot so therefore even if it's not allowed no problem to do it.
Unlocking is a different story though.

Some say root doesn't void warranty as long as you don't get caught.
others say you do and Asus is tracking you if you root.

In Norway were I live Asus have tried earlier to use this as a reason for voiding the warranty. This did not go over well in the Norwegian high court and it is decided that (in short) as long as asus can't prove that the problem with the device is directly linked to the rooting then the warranty is still valid. On a fun side: In Norway we also have something that resembles warranty by law. This is for 5 years.
It all depends on where you bought the device.
(the asus device tracker can't be used by asus to check the device status without our consent (every time) due to privacy laws in norway.
Thanks for your answers, I don't know more if i may root my infinity, I might send thé question to Asus France and have a pas close reading of the warranty paper i got when i purchased the threads tab.

Perhaps if rooting is of no benefit to you then it may good to wait.
I rooted last night.
Rooting is beneficial to a lot of applications.
If you just use the tablet for simple tasks and don't really need to change things in root then perhaps not rooting will cause less worry.
*it is very easy to un-root if necessary...
No I'm interesting in rooting also as it will allow me to do more customizing. And anyway I'm working in compting and i like testing new stuff.

Bump, will get my TF700 tomorrow, and really wondering about Asus Device Tracker. One question :
IF I get the tab, root on ICS, then OTArootKeeper and update to JB (no unlock, just root).
A month later, i need a repair. Will Asus say my warranty is void? Any feedback about this? Are they really checking if the tab is rooted? This seems crazy... and scary.
Dear community
Got my TF300TG a day yesterday and I'm hardcore trying to figure out, how Asus' android world works. I know old htc, new htc, motorola and samsung but Asus is new to me. I'm happy they didnt go overboard with their customisation if the OS, but I'm thoroughly angrx about the whole bootloader story. But who isnt, so...
From what I figured out till now is that the TG is obviously quite a different device than the T and not the same with simply a added gsm unit. Stuff is not simply interchangeable. I also learnt that the JB bootloader makes things a lot more difficult. Since my tablet came with some ICS (havent yet got asus' version naming scheme, but the build ends with .22 so I figure thats what younguys are referring to with .30, .40 etc) and I'd like to get the added niceness of JB but avoid the bootloader update, I wonder if that is possible. Maybe strip an update package from the updater component and flash it. Or so.
Oh, and I'm not yet unlocked, I'm a flashaholic on my smartphones and a CM addict, but because of asus tight assed warrqnty policy I didnt dare to unlock the tablet till now. I'll eventually get to it, probably.
Thanks in advance.

So I guess no one ever tried? Gnaa...
Well then, hypothetically, taking stuff out of the update.zip will break it's sign, so trying to do this very cheap by just removing stuff from the update package wont work, a little more sophistication is needed. Resigning the zip also wont work, we dont have asus keys. And maybe or possibly definitely, I havent searched, the ICS bootloader wont even load JB. The other way round I believe I can remember, the kernel throws a kernel panic but thats irrelevant, its the ICS bootloader and JB system I'm interested in...
So if anybody could shed some light on my issue, highly appreciated of course.

All,
I have drafted this post hoping after reading that someone will have some concrete resolve to improving the performance of my tablet.
Background: I purchased two Asus TF300T's for my wife and I at Christmas looking to improving our mobility around the home and externally without lagging a lap top. I read plenty of reviews over a period of 1-2 years and settled on the Asus. Since Christmas we have had one firmware update. We are on Android version 4.1.1, Build# 10.4.2.18.
Current: We are highly disappointed with its ability to swiftly move through websites. I have taken off java script then rechecked it and the performance is very inconsistent at best to include on my home wifi. Downloading pdf files from some sights is nearly impossible. I can't find how to down load apps and other documents to my SD Card. The tablet memory is constantly at least 50% occupied with stuff i am not aware of. the best thing i can use this for is my email and a few other simple apps. No crashes just extremely poor performance. If I want to view an item on You tube, man it takes forever or it never loads.
At this point I am somewhat in remorse beliving I would have been better off buying cheap laptops.
Can anyone of experience please assist with helping me maximize the tablets and see the power and functionality I have read about?
I am not a software developer and have read about rooting yet I am not clear on how and what to do yet i do understands it voids your warranty.
thanks for your assistance,
Frustrated Asus TF300 users
To unlock your tablets potential, I highly recommend rooting and installing a stock based or custom ROM. I would also install a custom kernel. It will void your warranty but in my opinion, it was well worth it. Rooting only voids the software, not the hardware.
Here is the video I watched in order to learn how to unlock and flash a recovery using Fastboot. This video shows you how to flash CWM recovery. Many have had issues with CWM, including me, so I flashed TWRP recovery instead. I just substituted the TWRP info in place of CWM recovery. The second link I provide will be for TWRP. Also, this video shows you how to root your tablet. No sense in doing that if you are going to flash a rooted ROM. There are quite a few rooted stock based and custom ROMs available to us. I would go ahead and read up on them and choose one before starting the process.

This is a link to the ROM I'm running.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971806
It also has a modified kernel in the 3rd post down under extras which will allow the tablet to be overclocked to 1.7GHz.. The only issue with it is GPS. It has to be reactivated after each boot if you need to use it. As I mentioned above, there are quite a few ROMs available to us. I would just read through and choose the one that's right for you.

same poor performance
Hi, i too feel my Tf300 is very poorly performing. Glitches, stutters and apps closing down quite often. This is on 4.1.1 in UK and I have made no changes other than android updates.
I would love to have this thing run more smoothly like my GNex which is only dual core but cant see it happening.
Most of all i want to get a controller working to play Dead Trigger and ShadowGun.
Most tutorials for controllers say must be rooted. I would therefore like to root the TF300.
I have looked at doing it a few time but have seen warnings about not rooting if you have a particular version.
Is there a list or guide where i may look up the specifics of my TF300 and then know which root method to use for the best?
I dont have my TF300 handy but know its on 4.1.1 at minute and is a UK tablet.
any help appreciated.

So do i have to root if i want a controller working with the likes of dead trigger and shadow gun?
Also and when a new version JB or even key lime comes along will i be able to get the official version back on to tablet?
It should be possible to get the official version back on although I'm not sure on how to do that other than doing a full backup in CWM/TWRP before changing ROMs.
It depends what controller you want to connect to your device. I can connect an Xbox wireless controller to my tablet and I'm not rooted. I'm not sure on Dualshock3 controllers but I think it might be possible without root but I don't know

its the xbox360 wireless i want to connect.
I bought the usb dongle, plug it into the dock and it does some basic functions but does not work in dead trigger or shadowgun correctly.
I try to re assign functions in game but in dead trigger for example the view just spins around constantly.
what games have you played successfully with the xbox360 controller?
I had the same problem as you. I think the only game I've successfully played is Shadowgun Deadzones

thats strange as when i try shadowgun i cant get the left joystick to rotate the correct way making it unplayable.
did you do anything special?
I had the same problem as you on the original shadowgun but on the multiplayer version (Deadzones), i did manage to get it to work. I don't think this can be fixed by rooting or something so it might be worth contacting MadFinger with regards to the problems of using a wireless Xbox 360 controller on their games
asus is trash some people just get fooled by the brand
I think Shadowgun has been updated as it now works with controller great.
The downside now is that it crashes every 10 minutes.
Asus as a brand I am unsure about to be honest.
I originally ordered the TF700 through Amazon. I sent it back along with its replacement due to poor build quality. The screen was not fixed down evenly and creaked.
I decided not to chance the TF700 again and bought the TF300 from Argos, I had to change this three times before I got one that worked or had not manufacturing problems.
Now the tablet runs but for a quad core its glitchy as hell.
Simple internet browsing always comes up with a crash, most games are glitchy and crash very often.
might check to see what i can get for it second had as its mint with box and all original stuff and only 2 months old.
£400 with dock did see a bargain.
I am thinking that perhaps all android tablets run equally as bad?
i bought this coz i am always sitting browsing internet, playing odd game on my Gnex, i know find that i would rather pick up my phone as the experience is so much smother and glitch free than the tablet. That makes it kinda redundant.
Every android tablet is not as bad as the transformer. The transformer line of tablets have slow I/O issues. Installing a custom ROM should improve the experience

Thanks yet more questions
Thanks for your assistance. I know I successfully rooted my tablet as it tells me that in the upper right hand corner. I used CMW instead of TWRP yet really know issues with that yet.
I am unable to find the system files via es file manager and I am unable to find the root - sign or the build.prop files which i believe I am supposed to have. I have loaded super user yet i am not sure the purpose of that download as i never see it used unless it is a system app.
I don't have a ROM like, Clean Rom yet and truly need further assistanc to set up my system. As you can tell I am not a developer yet I experienced a lot of frustration with slow performance.
What I would like to have is the ability to turn up the clock speed, not have the system continually looking for wifi and to know what files i can delete off my system and which ones I shouldn't. If I could have the system just open up straight to my system opposed to the Asus opening load that would be great as well.
I have a quite abit to load yet if I could get a good step by step instructions of what to load I believe I can follow it as I did get the system rooted. Looking for a patient developer to work me through some customization of my Asus TF300T.

For those who have sent me links and words of wisdom as I voiced some frustration due to ignorance thanks. I found XDA University and learned how to flash ROM and Kernels. I was able to finally understand how to load the zip files from my computer onto the tablet and then access them through Clockmod. It was easy. Unfortunately I have this bug to fix yet after that I believe if I can find the right ROMs, Kernels and apps to enhance my tablet experience I will be happy.
Any idea ho to fix the banner described above?

The paid app is based on your gmail account, it doesn't care how many or what device you installed it on, as long the app is compatible with the device. So if you want to install the app on your phone, your phone has to have the same account as your tablet.

I use easyprofile for swift profile switching when my phone moves around the country with me.
IE when at home it recognises that and enables wifi, when I am driving/out and about it switches wifi off and turns on data
When I'm at work it disables both and puts my phone on silent.
Anyway, I digress. What I wanted to add is that I paid for this on googleplay like you did similar. However when I loaded it onto my tablet the registration did not work correctly.
This was as it was device specific. A quick mail to the developer resolved it at no cost.
So yes, bought on google play = use on all devices, but be careful that sometimes there is just a small extra step to make. In this case registration of my device with the software.

This would be the case if the device's Android ID were to be used for registering the software instead of it being a 'simple"registration by mail address or coupling to Google Play account. I find that a less satisfying way of copy protection for it would limit you to that single install unless the developer is willing to grant you another registration (he or she cannot make the distinction between the second registration going towards a new device or an old(er) one that has had a new ROM installed changing the Android ID).
Tip: Titanium backup signals the Android ID having been changed compared to the one before a reinstall, and subsequently offers to restore the previous one. :good:

Actually, I only ever use in terms of restoring directly after a clean install -- if the developer stops supporting his/her application or game, the backup will run fine anyway.
You could, however, try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bzgames.androidid&hl=en
...though I do not know how to restore the Android ID you see there. Here an ongoing discussion about the pros and (mostly) cons of using the Android ID as an identifier:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2785485/is-there-a-unique-android-device-id
It is a relatively clumsy way, and you might call it bad practice now that Google provides better methods (which, fortunately, have seen increasing use of the past year).
What advantages is there to root the tf300, i dont want to unlock, and want to use the stock rom.
If i root, will i recive updates as before, will i loose anything?
I use the Dolphin browser HD 8.1.5, desktop mode, with adobe flash, i feel that the browsing speed is very slow, will it help root, and install browser2ram?
People in these forum tend to look at threads, but don't help out much, so I'll give my input. When I received my tablet 2 months ago, I felt like it lagged a bit. Maybe cause I was barely installing apps or who knows. Anyway, a lot of people say, " wait till you know you don't have a defective tablet." I seriously ignored that (took the risk) & rooted. I had no idea you could root without unlocking, so I did both. There is a thread that explains how you can root without unlocking, depending on what firmware you're on.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092266
A simple Google search should answer your rooting questions, but I'll hook you up a link.
http://google.about.com/od/socialtoolsfromgoogle/a/root-android-decision.htm
If you install browser2ram, it'll definitely run faster. I installed cleanrom 2.4.6 with most of the options that were offered during the installation & I haven't had any problems. Not a single one. I'd say go for it. Just make sure you don't get any "ghost touches" on the screen, make sure your headphone jack plays left & right earbuds, check screen banding & light bleeding, etc.
