OK now that I’ve got that over and done with, I have got the Android software to run on our DHD, It is actually runs on the same Android kernel as Android , which means you can run Ubuntu and switch to Android and back to Ubuntu.
This is a large image and with the problem with hosts I have decided to upgrade my dropbox account, so that the download will be simple and because of that I will not have a download count, so if you download please click thanks and this will give me an idea of how many downloads have been.
Requirements: Root access.
Installation:
You have to download Android VNC viewer free from the market also the terminal app, So first download https://rapidshare.com/files/1497399130/UBUNTU.rar
preferably on your computers and unzip it to a folder on your desktop called UBUNTU, then copy the folder onto the root of the root of your sdcard, that’s it
Now open your terminal and type (_=space)
$Su
#cd_/sdcard/ubuntu
#sh_ubuntu.sh
That’s it may take a while to complete, have a cup of coffee.
Now open vnc viwer
Nickname : ubuntu
Password :ubuntu
Address : localhost
Port :5900
Colour format :24-bit color
Just press connect and that’s you with Ubuntu, I use OTG cable for wireless keyboard and mouse dongle.
Remember if you download please tick thanks.
Or if you want to buy me a cold beer just klick the donate button.

I just ran it on my old DHD to make sure it worked, to use OTG it has to be put in the kernel, just search. Im sure it is the dev section.

how about a video? can you make one? or screenshots would be nice also.
A lot of work has been done to get a native Ubuntu and an USB Host kernel by a couple of members but we still don't have it :-(
The guy who ported Native Ubuntu from the HTC HD2 has stopped developing at Version 0.2 but version 0.3 is made for HD2 and has USB Host!
If anyone can work on that we are a bunch who would like it for sure.
Native ubuntu with usb host and/or usb host kernel for Android while we could load Ubuntu or Backtrack in chroot also would be interesting!

Yes will work on xoom
Yes on xoom it will. You also have a native ubuntu option that is faster if you need the GUI more than just the terminal! Check the xoom backtrack native it is a good choice too.
What I like about my A500 is the usb host, I'm using keyboard and mouse + hdmi so my tablet becomes a desktop!

I could run Ubuntu like year ago on DHD...
briandevlin , Thanks, I am downloading the file now and here is a question: how do I switch ubuntu back to android? There is no clue in your first post.
Why can Android not be flashed to wp7? What is preventing flashing Android to wp7?
Windows isn't open source

An Operating system has various layers. The lowest layer talks to the hardware directly.
Android is built for a particular set of hardware and has code that would be able to talk to that and ONLY that set of hardware.
Without developing code/drivers for the Windows Phone hardware, it would be absurd to try to make Android run on that.
It's similar to try running MacOS on your IBM-486 PC.
Running Android applications on a Windows system is not new , most of us know bluestock ......
But what is new here is that AMD processors industry famous cooperated with BlueStacks App Store launched AMD AppZone which allows users to download and run Android applications on Windows very easily by browsing through applications from the store, which offers 500 thousand application ......

Does it work on windows xp?

While Android provides many opportunities, I still feel it's quite limited. I'm interested in hearing what you'd like to see in any next operating system for mobile devices.
The thing I'd like to see with future operating systems (not exclusive to mobile OS's actually), is full integrating of app functions in the OS so that they can be shared between apps. Or rather, so you can actually perform every function from within the OS environment. An office app isn't a standalone app providing a new environment to work in, no, it provides its capabilities to the OS. Have a powerful calculator app? Have its functions integrate in the OS, available to you in any appropriate project you're working on with the office functions - all still from the OS. Games can still be standalone, I reckon, I'm not sure how these would add new functions.
A different way to look at it, is 'codecs': The OS is capable of handling everything there are codecs for. Want to edit an .mp3? An app provided you with the functions and code to have the OS create an appropriate 'app environment', with the style from the OS itself (which would provide truly universal theme support, too).
So, what ideas do you folks have?
Cusomization
I think more OSes need to be able to be modified without hacking. There should be more options to change colors, use custom pictures, or even be able to write your own "widgets", something like render script but even noobier. Quite a lot of people like to customize their devices, people like this devices to reflect themselves,we can see this from the large amount of jailbreak themes on iOS, or even theming on android.
Why DirectX is more powerful than OpenGL?...guys we need to see pretty graphics on ubuntu...why I can't use the full power of my geforce card on ubuntu OS? I think they should make some changes.
Also ubuntu drains battery too fast they should focus on this issue.

Hi all,
Just inquiring if there is any app I could install on my android tab
and be able to do some java programming, like running Luna Eclipse
which does so well on windows.
Regards.
@faeiz747, despite its Linux roots, Android is far from capable of running Eclipse IDE as is. Not only is the hardware inadequate for supporting such a large application, but Android lacks a full Java SE JVM (Dalvik is a subset) and SWT (Eclipse UI framework) implementation for native Android UI controls does not exist. On Linux, SWT implementations exist only for GTK and Motif.
You may be interested in Project Orion, which is an effort at eclipse.org to create Eclipse-like experience in the browser. I understand that people have been able to use Orion from a mobile browser on devices such as the one on the iPad.
