Why can Android not be flashed to wp7? What is preventing flashing Android to wp7?
Windows isn't open source

An Operating system has various layers. The lowest layer talks to the hardware directly.
Android is built for a particular set of hardware and has code that would be able to talk to that and ONLY that set of hardware.
Without developing code/drivers for the Windows Phone hardware, it would be absurd to try to make Android run on that.
It's similar to try running MacOS on your IBM-486 PC.

I was wondering if anyone has explored the possibility of porting Windows Mobile to the android devices.
I know that it's been done the other way.

Though many have requested it, Windows Mobile has never been ported to any device it was not shipped on. Windows Mobile is extremely complex at the lower levels, consisting of many hardware dependant components which make up the most critical parts of the OS. In addition, it's closed source, so there's no way to modify the source like when Android/Linux is ported to a Windows-based device. In short, don't hold your breath for a release, it won't happen.

If its immposible to port WM to Android device then is it possible to port Android ROM on windows Mobile based device..like we do on pc i.installing windows Vista after formatting old OS.
@ psolunke
Yes its possible to get Android running on a WinMo device, its been done with a number of phones.
Basically without Windows Mobile being open source, the chances of it going the other way are slim to none. Not to mention that the HD2 is the only WinMo device with a capactive display while nearly all Android devices have one, which would make it hard to get even that to work.
So I have a smart phone running the Android platform and I know there is an x86 Android project to run it on a full desktop/laptop system.
I also found a DosBox app for it, which I haven't tried but I hear people have gotten Windows 3.11/95 to work on.
Also with the webtop on my phone it can run a full Debian Linux install.
My question is in two parts:
A. Has anyone tried to port this to other mobile phones (Windows, RIM, iOS, etc...) yet?
B. Has anyone tried to port any other OS's to Android?
I mentioned iOS specifically in A. because some MacFans really like their OS and might not want to give up that functionality and it might make people more willing to adopt the platform.
I'd have posted links to cite references, but I'm still under restriction for being new.
Please let me know the phones, that allows me to install any Mobile OS in it.. I know that HTC HD2 can have 5 os in it.. IS there any other phone supporting all oS?
i wish i have the answer to your question. I looking for a phone that supports WP7 and android. it seems that only HD2 have this support. I guess is because microsoft dont allow using the same hardware of WP7 devices on android devices on the same company, so it cannot use the source code of wp7 drivers to make android drivers. Then the community have to create drivers from scratch, witch is hard.
Its not necessary that the phone should support WP7 also. Is there any other mobile that will support all other remaining OS?
Let Us Know Which OS You Use
Or Which OS You Like To Use !
I have linux(pc),windows(pc),android(mobile),mac(pc).
So among them is my android, the robot friend...
I chose Ubuntu just because it was the only linux flavor on the list although lately I do mainly run kubuntu with xfce
I would say windows would be on the bottom of the list but I haven't used a MAC since they were on green screens and I have no desire to either.
Windows is not at bottom.
Check it out
Android 4.2.2
liking Android 4.2.2 on my HTC desire s. so much better and looking than GB.
Android 4.2.2
Where is iOS ?¿
I still love Android GB, but now want to use JB..
My favorite operating system is Android because it has a large number of applications and games that you can download.
ubuntu is not an operating system. It is a distribution OF an operating system. Fedora is a better distribution of the same operating system.
Android is also a distribution of that operating system.
Firefoxos, similarly, is not an operating system. It is a fork of a distribution (Android specifically) of an operating system
That operating system is called Linux.
I go for windows. Just because I am working in the microsoft office environment. I have android but mainly using it for productivity. so far windows (office) still a universal language.
Digging JB 4.2.2 on my N10.
The smoothness makes me go back to IOS and so does the app quality Android is tons better now but if I could take one product smoothness and paint it on others it would be the Iphone 3GS
@KILLlkillkill, +1

Android, because it's easy to customize and have an established market already
While Android provides many opportunities, I still feel it's quite limited. I'm interested in hearing what you'd like to see in any next operating system for mobile devices.
The thing I'd like to see with future operating systems (not exclusive to mobile OS's actually), is full integrating of app functions in the OS so that they can be shared between apps. Or rather, so you can actually perform every function from within the OS environment. An office app isn't a standalone app providing a new environment to work in, no, it provides its capabilities to the OS. Have a powerful calculator app? Have its functions integrate in the OS, available to you in any appropriate project you're working on with the office functions - all still from the OS. Games can still be standalone, I reckon, I'm not sure how these would add new functions.
A different way to look at it, is 'codecs': The OS is capable of handling everything there are codecs for. Want to edit an .mp3? An app provided you with the functions and code to have the OS create an appropriate 'app environment', with the style from the OS itself (which would provide truly universal theme support, too).
So, what ideas do you folks have?

I think more OSes need to be able to be modified without hacking. There should be more options to change colors, use custom pictures, or even be able to write your own "widgets", something like render script but even noobier. Quite a lot of people like to customize their devices, people like this devices to reflect themselves,we can see this from the large amount of jailbreak themes on iOS, or even theming on android.
Why DirectX is more powerful than OpenGL?...guys we need to see pretty graphics on ubuntu...why I can't use the full power of my geforce card on ubuntu OS? I think they should make some changes.
Also ubuntu drains battery too fast they should focus on this issue.
