HTC inspire 4G connect with pc problem - HTC Inspire 4G

Ok so I picked up a inspire for 20 bucks and nothing is wrong with it except it won't connect to any pc. I tried factory resetting it. Installed the drivers every way possible through sync manager and just vs the drivers then self from the ace kit. Still nothing happens or pops up on either the phone or pc. Note: in one instants my computer did pop up once saying last device could not be recognized. IV tried on win 8, win xp, and even on my car stereo for mass storage for music and nothing. Yes usb debugging is on and I set it for charge only and ask every time when connected via ace kit notes. Any help would be appreciated.... Owe and I even cleaned the port out of all the lint and dust.

32 and 64 are your computer. Try turning off the phone, then plugging it in and turning it on, strangely enough that has fixed problems with USB before.

What do you mean it "won't recognize"
When you plug it in you get no notification? Or are you trying to mount the sd card in windows?
When I plug it in it recognizes that something usb was plugged in but it won't pick up the drivers

Try plugging your phone in, then go to the Device Manager in Windows, and look to see if any of the entries have a yellow or red exclamation point beside them.
got it!!!
thanks for all the help but after all the messing around it was the USB cord to be the blame!!!

Drivers Won't Install Successfully

Normally I'm the one helping out and never asking for help but please help me out! I've searched through both Google and XDA and I can't get this Sensation to connect to my Windows 7 64bit laptop for the life of me.
I've installed the latest HTC Sync and I keep getting a driver error whenever I plug my phone into the laptop. I even deleted old drivers from my previous Android phones (Galaxy S II and myTouch 4g Slide).
I am definitely not a noob of any sort. This is the first Android phone that is killing me when it comes to setting up the drivers.

Thanks for the response. Device manager is saying "unknown device". I keep deleting it and it still says "unknown device". Hopefully I can get it to download the necessary drivers through recovery.
I'll test it out soon as I get home. I'm at work right now.

Redownload the drivers. Do you have usb debugging box checked? Also try different ports. If a desktop i recommend pluging in behind your tower.

I've tried installing the drivers through Recovery with both USB debugging on and off and still no luck. I tried using different ports on my laptop and still no go. I even tried using another USB cord and nothing. I really don't understand this phone!

Iv'e installed HTC Sync witch installes Sync and Driveres. After that i uninstalled HTC Sync, because that leaves the Driveres.
I've tried everything suggested and still no luck. I went to HTC's website and downloaded HTC. I then checked on USB debugging and HTC SYNC and I keep getting the error.
I guess my next bet would be to call T-Mobile or HTC to see if they can trouble shoot the issue. Thanks for the help guys!

If you want to use MTP with your Windows XP machine, you probably need to download Microsoft drivers. Just search for Windows XP MTP.
txs - will do

[SOLVED] Issues when trying to connect to PC

Hello everyone,
So all of a sudden I'm having problems when trying to connect my new One S to my PC. This is really confusing so read carefully.
Typically, when we connect the device to a PC, the LED lights up and the USB icon shows up in the status bar. Here's the thing. When I try to connect my HOS to the PC, the LED blinks asynchronously and the icon on the status bar disappears and reappears. It's like the connection is loose.
My first thought was that there should be a hardware issue.
I tested the cable first for any issues. I tried another cable and the problem persisted. When I tried to connect my other device, an Xperia X8, there was no problem whatsoever. So, definitely, the cable is not producing the problem.
Next, I thought maybe the Micro USB port on my One S was the problem. I took a q-tip and cleaned it, although it already was clean. Tried again connecting it to the PC, no luck. But when I tried connecting it to my Laptop instead, there was no problem at all! And there's also no problem when charging it (from the wall charger).
My next thought was the PC's USB ports where causing the problem. I took a vacuum cleaner p) and dusted off any lint there was. So I tried connecting my HOS again and still no luck. Tried all 4 USB ports and even a USB extension cord.
If needed, my PC is running Ubuntu 12.04, my Laptop Win7 and my HOS is running CM10.
Now I'm really confused and I have no idea what to do next. Any thoughts?

I tried connecting it with Virtuous ROM, JB Sense and the issue is still present. I'm pretty sure it's not the ROM's fault.

It's Ubuntu, there are no drivers. On my laptop with Windows, there's no issue and I didn't install any HTC drivers. Just the regular drivers Windows installs when detecting a new device.
Can someone please merge this thread with mine so we get the right answers in one thread please, this would help both of us and also anyone else that may come across our issues?

Any Admin, please can you?
I should probably note that I'm not using an HTC Micro USB cable. Both cables I tried were Sony (Xperia X8) cables.

So I tried Ubuntu on my laptop and the connection is totally fine.

I think its the chipset that Linux is having issues with so maybe look into updating that or changing it for another version.

The chipset is pretty much the motherboard which of cause controls USB and other stuff. So you need find out what you on and then see if there is an update.
So I should check if there is a software update for my motherboard. Sorry, I'm not well informed concerning hardware
Will do.

Hello!
Which Version is your ROM at? Everything except the Jelly bean update (4.1) should work out of the box.
From jelly bean on you will need libmtp. You want to use mass storage? As far as i know One S has just recently been added to libmtp things. So if there would be a problem you may contact the bugowner or just wait for a working kio slave with mtp.
Greetings,
R
PS.: I use opensuse so things are for sure different. I will just wait for a kio slave that works.
Maybe my information is not precise enough or not correct but you could give it a go:
Try google for:
[How to] Connect your Android Ice Cream Sandwich ... - OMG! Ubuntu!
Maybe you can work with this.

USB connection

So my nexus 5 was working perfect was really happy with it... Rooted and unlocked, but after that I can't get ADB or mass storage... All it does when I plug in to PC is charge... I don't even get the sound on the pc when I plug it in??
Any ideas?

If you are connected via MTP try disabling USB Debug mode (settings >developer options)
Its the only solution I know for my N5
Sent from my Nexus 5
I've tried all that... I don't even get confirmation from windows that something is plugged in... It just charges
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Make sure you do the changes while the phone is not plugged in. Otherwise unplug the phone again and change the USB connection type from MTP to PTP and back again.
If that doesn't work then uninstall the adb files installed on your computer and reinstall them

You don't have the correct drivers installed, Google "Samsung nexus usb drivers" Yea, I know it's not a Samsung device, but they'll work.
It was all working fine before... I had an issue before with drivers but it was easily fixed... I don't even get an adb device in driver list I get no "installing" no beep when I plug it in nothing?? Really strange

try going to Settings>Storage, and tap the menu icon on the top right and check if mtp is on or off
mine was off somehow
No that's not it I've done all that... The only time the PC even acknowledges that its there is if I boot to recovery while plugged in... It freezes the PC up a bit then comes up that its not recognised

Can somebody do me a favour and have a close look at your charger cable are the pins all inline or are they in like a v shape?

I had the same problem, solved by Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit. Just follow the steps.
Your cable seems to be OK, I have a "V" shape too.
Hope it's going to help.
Did you manage to solve this issue? Same thing is happening to me, 3 different computers don't recognize the phone anymore, it only charges via usb.
