Ya thats what benchmarks like to do and also to point out qHD don't help since both are running the bench at 720p.

Am i the only one that has noticed my score is about 500 points lower for gaming when i'm on CM RC1 compared to Stock 2.3.2?
RC1 gives me a score of about 2600 while stock gives 3k+ while using Smartbench.
I wonder if this is due to the video drivers not being fully up to date or optimized on the CM builds?
I have also noticed that quadrant scores do not seam to be affected whether on CM or Stock. My experience with the N1 was CM helped with performance a lot.
What do you guys think about this? Have you experienced the same?

I normally run at 1.4GHz and get about 3.3-3.4k on the games index. (Just got 3232). I don't really ever run on stock so its hard to say but I can say that I've hit 1800/3700 at 1.6GHz before.
i know there is a thread for people to post their benchmarks but it seems to be measuring scores between stock and rooted. I was wondering what the highest quadrant, smartbench, linpack scores are for this phone. How do those high scores compare to other phones? I haven't seem any scores higher than this one that i got yesterday, but i'm sure there are higher scores out there. This is running CM7 on Nightly #7 with faux123 Kernel OC'd at 1804 performace. I also have the honeybread theme applied.
Holy balls! That's the best quadrant I've seen! You just made me want to try Faux's kernel!

As I see he updated his kernel and balanced it between power consumption and performance but it seems to not play nice with Quadrant as it goes blank(black screen) or FC.
Dude..... How the french is your quad that high? I have that kernel installed and only get around 2300. FML.

To be fair, cheating at Quadrant is ridiculously easy. The CM team got it over 9000 before. Also, they still haven't updated it for Gingerbread.

I don't think thats even MT4G could be on Leo. You get higher score on Android RAM build than you would on normal NAND build which use to happened before with Android running from SDCard via dual boot with WM.
Oh okay yeah I see that his ROM info shows HD2 running the Glacier ROM. So that doesn't count. Cool.

I know that quandrant is not a good benchmark because the results depends on the hardware installed (CPU qualcomm or samsung or TI OMAP), but my question is:
Desire S in quadrant advanced reach a score of 3000 in the CPU section; the xperia arc, with the same CPU reach a score of 5500 in the cpu section. They are both on gingerbread....so why this difference?
Also the desire HD with froyo and the same Qualcomm CPU reach a 5500 score...

yeah, I also do not explain the differences in benchmark scores with this 2 devices
i gave my opinion of why the lower scores in this thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036668
basically there has been a general trend on most phones that gingerbread performs lower than froyo on benchmark tests and performance. this is certainly been my experience. and since the desire s is running gingerbread, while the desire HD is running froyo (i think, right?), that is your answer right there...
Since the Desire S is the "first" device from HTC dressed in Gingerbread...can we safely say that it wasn't an optimized Gingy version that HTC brought up?
If all the Desire family get their Gingerbread update (Classic, HD, Z) and did perform well in benchmarking, that would leave Desire S...????

you are right
I run Gingerbread on my DHD, and the Quadrant is lower
I thought it's because we don't have the gingerbread sources for DHD, and we don't have the right drivers
but still, DHD has 1500-1600 in Quadrant (compare to 1200) with DS 1.28 port :/ and that's a big difference with the same CPU, GPU

well maybe your friend's incredible s is overclocked, or he has some other type of customization that you are not aware of. because what i am trying to say is that, stock 2.2 vs stock 2.3, there is a performance and quadrant drop, significantly. stock 2.3 may get around 1250 quadrant, and stock froyo may get around 1650 quadrant. i get 1200 on 2.3, but i can over clock to maximum and get 1400. but somethign still isnt right, because i could over clock on 2.2 and get 1700.
also, people say quadrant scores are meaningless. but this has gotten mis interpreted on the web. quadrant scores are meaningless BETWEEN DIFFERENT PHONE MODELS. but quadrant definitely has meanign within the same device. so if your device runs 1600 on 2.2, then 1200 on 2.3, that is a meaningful piece of data. benchmark shows the ability of your phone to do various tasks like scroll a list, load some html or javascript, or parse a bunch of data. so it annoys me when others (not in this thread) say quadrant is meaningless. what the original statement meant was that lower device A could be optimized very well to be smooth, while higher device B could be better hardware, but optimized poorly to not be smooth, and a benchmark would not tell this story. i agree wtih that. but not within the same device i dont
i also see slower choppy scrolling in 2.3, for example tapatalk threads and lists were smooth in 2.2, but choppy and chunky in 2.3, etc. and the benchmark seems to agree with that.

My understanding was that Gingerbread is quite a bit slower than Froyo in Quadrant tests.
In real use though, it seems fine.
I suppose we'll have more idea when 2.3.3 upgrades become available for devices currently running 2.2.x.

On htc-hero score was equal on 2.2 and 2.3 (both overclocked CM-ROMs)
On my NexuS with 2.3 I have scores about 2500 @ 1GHz (and crazy >3000 @ 1,4GHz)
On the DesireS I only get 1200 @ 1Ghz (equal performance gov or ondemand)
Wired is the totaly different fps: desireS has 50fps at the "planet3D" where Nexus has only 20fps; in the "doom3D" it is vice versa
But in everyday use there is no big difference - I tend to sell the NexuS, but really not sure wich phone I should keep..

Is this serious surly JB is more and more better then GB.
GB is more stable than JB. If you are a gamer, i advice you to stay on GB
Sent from my GT -I8160 using xda devolopers app
For now, GB is noticeably faster than JB when it comes to games/navigating around menus.
On JB navigating through the system settings is pretty horrible, takes 1-1,5 seconds to get from one tab to another.
JB is more modern though, looks nicer, has a better notification bar, supports more apps.
I'd wait for an official, unbranded JB release before switching over.
No! GB is not beter than JB. When you have right settings on it , it runs few times better than GB. Definitely recommend to flash on JB
Ps. Best for now - MC8 + Italian Job + Supercharger V6 + removed bloatwares + DISABLE AUTO ADJUST SCREEN TONE ( in settings - display, this fix is for lag in games used on leaked versions and some new users don't know about it)
for me
gingerbread is alot better for gaming
but tooo ugly
the jellybean is opposite
weak in gaming and very nice
buhaha GB better in gaming...yeah go for it! Instal GB and come play with me in Shadowgun Deadzone or run Vice Ciy on full...GB have better ram management (now...) but gpu and cpu on GB is 50% slower.
No? Instal RD 3D benchmark. On GB ALLWAYS ON ALL ROMS you get 30fps overal score.
On JB you get 42-45 fps overal score and lern use fps.meter.
I have check some games in that same place/situation and ALLWAYS on JB is more fps. You can feel only droops because ram is not good now on JB but properly settings solved that problems for me.

Ram in games...sometimes are problems if you have less free ram but fps/s is a LOT better on JB
Try on GB with fps meter: Dead Triger on max, Vice city on max and Most Wanted and than on Italian Job 1.0.0 (with fps meter) You will see big deferences on JB+)
Praying for better fitted JB. ZTE blade gets 7k on antutu benchmark but we can't. ZTE is 600 mhz single core. Ace 2 800 mhz dual core. It makes me insane !!

...because zte blade run another one test hehehehe armv6 have not that sam test like armv7(b) Our device can get 20k on that test...why you compare so slow phone to ours in so bad benchmarks like quadrant/antutu. We have only one good benchmark (Rd3d) because that benchmark allways show that same framerate! Our one core is ~2 times faster than Zte blade. I had that phone before and I know what he can do after OC to 720/760 and CM7 and ...that phone have only good TFT(800/480) If you want you can get on zte blade 5k in quadrant after JIT becaus then quadrant generate bugs in graphics (all is white) DONT USE THAT BENCHMARKS to compare devices. Simply- stock S2 have in Quadrant 3k. Our phone have now on JB 2900+ so my device is fast like S2? NO.
Oh i dont know that point.

If you have lags on JB in games try this:
1. Instal Kyrillosv7b (for MB4) or Italian Job v1 (for MC8)
2. Disable Auto adjust screen tone (Settings-screen)
3. Instal Supercharger for better ram management
4. Delete all bloadware apps (there is list somewhere)

Hello everyone.
I hope there aren't a similar post here.
I wood like to make a "monster" Nexus 5, concerning performance.
So, can somebody tell me about the fastest ROM, the best version of the rom, the best compatible kernel, etc.
I want to see the highest benchmark, and of course the best performance.
I don't care about the version of the ROM (KitKat, Lollipop, etc)
I'm waiting for responses.
Thank you!
Get Marshmallow (Stock or the Xtreme ROM)
Get Elemental X kernel
Switch to F2FS filesystem in recovery (make backups as this wipes)
Overclock
Profit.
For reference:
3D Mark IS Unlimited score: 18672 (stock was in the 15k)
Geekbench (single core): 1040 (stock 800s)
Geekbench (multicore): 2987
AnTuTu: 42k
This is running at 2.8Ghz.
EDIT: I can benchmark all the way up to 2.9Ghz but it becomes unstable in day-to-day use at that point. So keeping it at 2.7 - 2.8Ghz for stability.
