Please help - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Can anyone tell how to flash permenent cwm recovery i have bricked phone thrice because i cant take backup of my rom please help

Since sony phones don't have recovery partition, you wont have 'permanent ' recovery..
But you can flash a split kernel, with recovery in it. Then you will have recovered as long as you don't flash a new kernel, or return to stock.

You surely can use the likes of X parts or such apps to get temporary recovery however for a permanent cwm -the only solution remains to flash a custom kernel(.img file extension)
Then you'd not have issues doing the flashing stuffs
Cheers

You are on stock recovery if you get the !
You probably mistakenly flash the stock recovery before you flash the repacked ROM.
Easiest thing to do now is install CWM recovery again.
Download a stock firmware from Asus website and flash it with CWM recovery.
That will put you at stock firmware, unrooted and stock recovery.

What CWM version are you using? If its the lastest from Roach, it only flashes from the internal memory, not from sd card.

So if I understand this correctly you have flashed a new ROM but you are stuck on the boot screen.
This can happen due to a few things; the first and most obvious to me is that you didn't flash the correct version of the ROM. Please link me to the ROM you used and I can tell you if you did or not.
The second is that you aren't running the correct kernel, if the JB Mini Project runs on the CM10 kernel and you haven't flashed that first it won't work.
The third is that you didn't wipe all of the partitions (it seems as though you haven't) you need to wipe System, Dalvik Cache, Cache, then User Data.
If you want to restore to stock firmware download this program (http://androxyde.github.io/) and then download the .ftf file from one of the links in the link I will provide (http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=fU3SBnQr).
When you have got both of them things PM me and I will help you.

Hi, i also experienced this before. I just flash it using Flashtool [androxyde.github.io] and now my phone is coming back like usual. First, download your Stock Firmware, and flash it. CMIIW

I know the exact problem now. The ROM is based on CM10. You haven't flashed the CM10 kernel onto the phone before you flashed the ROM. I'll PM you know so you can reply if you need any help.

[Q] what happened?

DEVICE : SAMSUNG GALAXY FIT GT S5670
CURRENT ROM : GB 2.3.6 STOCK
I rooted my device a long time ago..but flashed the recovery few days ago only.
So here's what happened?
i flashed "AMON-RA RECOVERY"..then found it to be old.
then tried to flash the "TJ-STYLE RECOVERY" ...BUT SOMEHOW IT DIDN'T WORKED and ODIN was taking very much time.
so aborted and then flashed "PRATYUSH.CREED 'S RECOVERY"... as mentioned in the guide in the forum that this could backup the STOCK ROM.
THEN as mentioned in the guide i took a NANDROID BACKUP of the stock rom ...(didn't knew the backup was successful or not)..
after creating the backup i tried to flash OFFICIAL CYNOGEN MOD 7.2.0 NIGHTLY.ZIP but the process ended very quickly notifying of successfull flashing...
instead when i rebooted after showing the sumsung animation the Device got hungup at a black screen with android written on it at a little right.
then i tried to restore the NANDROID BACKUP...but the recovery showed MD5 ERROR..
I thought may be a unlocked BOOTLOADER is required ..i googled it but couldn't find the procedure...
i then downloaded and flashed a STOCK_GB_2.3.6.tar.md5 rom..
this worked BUT REPLACED THE CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY WITH STOCK RECOVERY
.
.
.
NOW THE QUESTIONS :
1.why wasn't the NANDROID BACKUP successful ?
2.why didn't the OFFICIAL CYNOGEN MOD 7.2.0 worked ?
3.how can i unlock the BOOT LOADER if it is required for the CUSTOM ROMS ?
4.why the CUSTOM CLOCKWORK MOD got replaced by the STOCK RECOVERY on reflashing with stock rom ?
help me ...

i m a complete noob, but i will try to help u as much as possible ...
i think, there was a prob with flashing of custom recovery,
i m also on custom recovery (dunno which one) i flashed it as flashable zip frm recovery {i think i installed tj style fr odin then flashed the present recovery }
Also, wen u flash stock rom, u need to root it again ..
nondroid problem? mayb due to recovery problem ..
bootloader thing? sorry i dont knw anything bootloader thing ...
If i were u, i will first install tj style recovery from odin(it roots ur phone too, so no need to root it first) then either use it(its said to b most stable recovery around) or flash another recovery as flashable zip frm the present recovery ...
(i will avoid using odin fr each nd every thing ...)

HOW WOULD I DO THAT..?
means the tj-style recovery i have is in TAR format...
should i UNcompress and recompress it in ZIP format... ?
AND WHAT POSSIBLE DISADVANTAGES COULD BE FOR THE ODIN ?
1) Nandroid Backup works only for custom roms. For stock roms u can only take a backup but u cant restore (there's a recovery by pratyush.creed which does restore too but i didn't try so can't say)
2)Perhaps u didn't flash properly so it went into bootloop. Use CWM by TJ-style only and next time, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and format /system just as a precautionary step before flashing custom rom.
3)Samsung Phones doesn't have locked bootloaders. So to flash a rom, u can do it easily
4) The stock rom u flash via ODIN contains stock recovery as well.
U cant flash recovery unless u have other custom recovery (well there is a flashable zip for CWM by tjstyle but i dont know whether it can be flashed via stock recovery). The only way u can do is through ODIN. Make sure ODIN is set properly and if u have windows 7, run it as administrator and better reinstall drivers.

[Q] custom recovery needed?

Hello all,
I'm new to Xperia L but not to rooting. I rooted my own HTC sensation and I'm planning to do the same to the Xperia to fix a not working camera and insane battery drain. On the HTC, I needed to flash a custom recovery, update bootloader, update radio before I could install a custom ROM.
Do I need to repeat the same procedure with the XPL? Or just unlock bootloader -> flash ROM done (which is what I'm getting from going through these forums)?

Problem is I can't get this thing rooted, I tried Doomlord Rootkit and the motochopper root method (untill I found out it won't work on 4.2.2)
I know I could just unlock and flash a custom ROM/kernel, but I really want to backup with TA before unlocking (not my own phone) and for that I need full root first.

There's rooting kit in the general section that works on 4.2.2. Backing up TA partition is always a good idea. I would suggest you to take a full nandroid backup AFTER flashing a custom kernel. There's no need for titanium backup too (I don't understand why the above post mentions that). Now that you have a working recovery and backup, proceed with flashing your rom.
Hope it helps

One more thing though...it seems I can't get into the recovery by default. The purple LED light doesn't lit up when I boot my phone and I tried wigling the volume buttons during boot multiple times but it just boots regularly. I was on the verge to flash a recovery with a boot.img, from phantom I believe, but I figured I wouldn't before I figure out how to get into the recovery. Supose the ROM won't boot after flashing a new recovery, there's no way for me to enter CWM

You cannot enter the recovery by keypress on stock. You'll have to do that via ADB or Gravitybox etc.

I see, so the volume button trick is a custom ROM only feature to enter the recovery..? So I gues I would have to flash a custom ROM with recovery included with flashtool. Can someone hoop me up with a ROM like that?
I did some research into this Gravitybox but it sais it requires a working custom recovery, which I lack.

Unlock bootloader, download a JB Custom Kernel (Vengeance is a good one), extract boot.img and flash it in fastboot mode with flashtool.

It's NOT the ROM. Recovery comes with custom KERNEL. If you're on stock kernel then you won't be able to enter recovery by pressing volume down.
Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom kernel and then you will have a recovery and glowing led on boot. In case your phone doesn't boot( that you cautioned) flash stock FTF using flashtool. It will reset your kernel(which means flash stock kernel, which works anyways).
Hope this helps

ok, got it. thanks.
next problem: I got the CWM working and I was about to flash a custom ROM. the AOSP ROM from Taoshan gave me an error so I wanted to flash a different one. I dowloaded and stored a different ROM+gapps on a different SD card to save some time. Now for some reason, CWM memorizes the content of the combination of the 2 SDcards, and it won't update it's content no matter what SDcard I use. I formatted the SD card and stored the ROM+gapps again, but CWM keeps showing me the content of the old status of the SD card. So I can't select any new zips.
quesiton is, can I fix this somehow OR, can I reflash the boot.img to overwrite the current CWM without any issues? I have no working ROM atm since I already to apply a new one.

Yes, you can flash new kernel anytime. I am not sure what's causing this problem. I wonder if there's any refresh or reload option in CWM or any option to reset/clear CWM data. Look for these options and if you don't find, feel free to flash the kernel again.

Yes, you can flash new kernel anytime. I am not sure what's causing this problem. I wonder if there's any refresh or reload option in CWM or any option to reset/clear CWM data. Look for these options and if you don't find, feel free to flash the kernel again.

solved
I was using a JB kernel and trying to flash KK roms. Extracted a kernel from LS 4.4 ROM and flashed it, phone is booted and working fine now.
about the CWM issue, reflashing the same kernel won't solve the it. When I flashed a different kernel, it did do the trick. Seems CWM stores SD partitions in its own memory. I managed to install zips from the SDcard by accesing the external SDcard partition. Haven't seen any refresh or reload options in CWM.
thanks for the help, overall I just had to do some more reading. I'm quite familiar with rooting but I come from a HTC device, which is entirely different imo. (using 4ext recovery there which I personally find a lot more user friendly). Getting accustomed with Sony devices, the rooting and the terminoligy takes some time I guess.

[q] [help me] plssssss.. :(((((

HI GUYS I REALLY NEED HELP PLS READ MY STORY :
I love flashing custom rom so as i've seen some guides here i succesfully achieve it and recover if i have boot loop because i made a nandroid backup. So i became confident of flashing things and stuff like that . But this time i try to install Xposed Framework in RS PROJECT MOD V2.0 (Not popular rom) and it bricks my phone so i wasn't worried b'cuz i know that i can still recover using TWRP so i wipe data , factory reset and wipe dalvik , the usual thing to do when restoring back up , So i restore my stock rom which is Alcatel Pop c7 and it was successful from what the TWRP Recovery said then i reboot , and i noticed that there was no logo of alcatel stock rom showing for 3mins unlike before it shows the logo instantly. So i turn off the phone and i go back to recovery but this time i remember that everytime i restore my stock rom it goes back to stock recovery so i can't access the TWRP again i really need help ..
So my question is : How can i restore my phone using the stock recovery? Or is there any other way to recover it except that? pls i'll do anything for this phone cuz im already poor :'(
sorry for bad english..
Note: the custom rom RS PROJECT MOD V2.0 didn't brick my phone it brick after restoring my stock rom bcuz of xposed

Well you could try flashing twrp recovery and installing a different rom which should get rid of the problems you made. Or you could wipe everything via fastboot and restore the stock firmware again.

Can you get into the bootloader of your phone? If so get a computer and flash the recovery via fastboot.
