Recovering internal memory - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

My phone's screen cracked when it dropped the other day and I can no longer view anything on the screen. The phone works since when I turn it on all the notifications will come through and the phone vibrates. The screen is completely dead.
I have hooked it up to my laptop to try to recover the internal files. The laptop reads the phone but I can't actually get to the files. I've tried Kies and it says the phone isn't connected.
I have a password on my lock screen and I figure that is causing the problem. Since the screen doesn't work, I can't type in my password to get access.
Is there anything at all I can do to get the files off?

[Q] Cracked screen, can't get past lock. How can I retrieve data from the phone?

Accidentally dropped my phone the other day, screen is cracked and now I can't unlock the phone because of the pattern lock. Now, when I plug my phone to the PC nothing happens because the phone must be set to allow the PC to read the contents.. but since I can't unlock the phone to change that setting, I can't do anything atm. All data is in the internal memory of the phone, so no sdcard. (I regret I had it this way)
Is there maybe a software that can do this?
Phone is ZTE Max aka Boost Max.

you can connect a otg cable and mouse to your phone and use the mose to draw your unlock pattern.
I'll try here because this came up in a search.
I dropped my LG G2 and cracked the screen so that I only have a very small area where I can get some reaction. Not enough to swipe over the screen to unlock it. I keep getting the LG notification that my screen is damaged and offering to allow me to control it through the hardware keys, but it won't accept those commands either. And now, when I plug it in to try to get my data off the phone, it's stuck on charge only, so I can't transfer anything.
Any ideas? All I really want are a few pictures from this past weekend. Everything else is backed up in DropBox.
I don't know what an OTG cable is and I don't think that I even have a mouse anymore.
Thanks.

Need to recover files for police (D6603)

Hi there.
I have a Sony D6603 where the screen has been broken. The phone starts up and you can feel it responding to commands, the screen backlight comes on but no text etc
My problem is this. The phone was stolen last month but a tip off allowed me to get it back. We know the culprit but he keeps demanding the phone back as he has important data on it. We said no we would give it to police. However the police say they cannot go thru the phone and that I need to get the data off to show them. This culprit is so desperate for the phone that he attempted to break in the house to steal the phone back!
Problems -
When connected to computer, it shows the phone as a drive but is blank
No way to turn USB debugging on (Is there a way of using some sort of recovery to get files off even though I cannot access the debugging screen to turn it on?
This is very important so any help will be appriciated :good:
This is hilarious
Have you tried enabling File transfer after plugging your phone in? The phone is shown bank when file transfer is not enabled.

Can't you film yourself doing a factory reset then suggest they sue you for losing data on your phone whilst it was stolen.
I have actually had to do this with a Z3 with a dead screen. If it is encrypted however you will have no luck so don't even try as it will force a factory reset and you lose everything.
Use this to install TWRP recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/recovery-root-mm-575-291-lb-t3435214
Follow the OP exactly and you will have recovery.
Boot to recovery (when rebooting press the down volume key at the first green light) and then use adb (TWRP now has this) to command TWRP to commence a data backup: http://www.pocketables.com/2014/10/using-twrps-new-adb-interface.html
(or if you can just extract the data with adb directly this will also work, but I don't see it as a command.)
As far as I know if you use flashtool and TWRP you won't need to use the screen and with TWRP's adb interface you should have more luck getting the data.
Good luck - careful when you get the data that you don't break any weird laws for looking at it. Might be a breach of his privacy blah blah. Anyway he's very stupid for using a stolen phone for sensitive data....

G920V with broken screen - Is it possible to bypass lock screen to recover data?

Hello,
my phone fell to the ground, the screen went blue, then black. I can't see anything. It had stock ROM on it, I never updated the firmware nor tried to root it. Thing is, I would like to access the phone to recover pics, contacts, and so on. I had enabled the USB debug mode a while ago to transfer data to the computer. However, when I plug it in to my computer now, I can't access the phone because I had the fingerprint lock on, and when you reboot you can't use the fingerprint as you need to first use the backup password. But I can't type the password because the screen is completely black. So I'm stuck there!
I can get to download mode, and Odin does recognize the phone. If I were to use Samsung's newest firmware, would that solve the issue? I'm thinking here that updating to the newest firmware would mean I wouldn't have to type the password to get in, but I really have no idea.
There are few programs out there that claim that you can actually bypass the lock screen, but they do not support the G920V as of now.
Any tips would be much appreciated!
Perhaps attempt using an USB OTG adapter with a keyboard. It may take a couple attempts, but should work to get the password in.

Galaxy J3 2017 Black screen, can unlock with keyboard and unsure what to do next.

Hi all,
Firstly I've looked on all black screen help pages but none of them help. Last week my galaxy j3 2017 model died. The screen is just black, but the phone 'works', and by that I mean if I ring it the phone rings, notification sounds still happen but screen is still just black. I've charged it, let it die, tried all combos of reboots but nothing. Using an online guide, if I plug a USB keyboard in and tap my code followed by enter I hear the phone unlock (yes it has a pin screen lock). I then tried to plug into a laptop, but using Windows explorer, my phone is there but going into the phone, the folder is empty. I'm guessing this is because I can't enable file transfer etc on the phone. I'm at a loss wgag I can do. Samsung said I can take it to a shop to be fixed, but I have a few weeks of data and files I want to try and rescue first. Can anyone offer any advice please?

your screen is dead on your phone and your not going to be able to get the data from your phone. All you can do is send it in to samsung.
Ok, thank you. At least with this confirmed I can just get it fixed and hope a file recovery tool may help. Thanks again.

If you haven't taken this for repair yet then you can confirm a dead screen if you see nothing at all when restarting the device.
However it IS possible to rescue the data. There are various ways to do this with a blank screen. Obviously the easiest is via MTP. There is also Smartswitch.
Adb is also an option.
This would be trial and error until you hit the right spot to enable usb transfer.

Recovering data through USB

Today my phone felt down totally flat. The screen hits the floor directly.
It carries a protector above the screen, and apparently it is the only part that broke down
The screen seems to be in perfect status.
But the problem is screen is not working. None light is shown, and no reaction is performed.
If I touch the power button during 20s, the phone vibrates and it seems to be restarted.
When I connect the charger, the led works fine. Although no sound is played.
I would like to repair the phone, but at least (and this is important) I need to download all the data to the PC.
Question: is there any way to access to the data in the phone without having the screen available?
PHONE: MI9
OS: MIUI12.5

If you did not USB debugging enabled in system settings before the screen broke, you will not be able retrieve your data. Now that your screen is broken, there is no way for you to enable USB debugging in order to retrieve your data.
Your options are:
1) repair the screen so you can retrieve your data.
2) forget about your data and get a new device.
Live and learn. I keep USB debugging enabled on all my devices for this very reason.
I found that I can retrieved my data thanks to custom recovery. I had a bit of lucky because with adb, data can be retrieved trhough custom recovery.
Usually, I have USB debugging activated but this time it was not activated as from last ROM update it is deactivated by default.
Now, I will deassembly the phone just to understand which is the root cause as touch sensor is working fine. So I need to understand if the problem comes from the screen or in the worst-case from connectors or PCB. In this last case I would need to get a new device, and I would like to keep this one for a few more time, even when there is no more OS update.

I was going to suggest that but wasn't sure you would actually be able to install it or even if a custom recovery existed for your device since you didn't post what model you have. Also, if you had needed to unlock your bootloader to flash a custom recovery, unlocking the bootloader would have wiped your data.
Yes, you were lucky, most users in this condition are screwed out of recovering their data.
