The ultimate problem - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so ive been here before about this problem but forgot i posted XD but now that i got my money back for the tablet when i bought it back in 2011, i have no problem really diving in and trying to fix this.
The tablet only worked for about 5 minutes... it randomly turned off during the setup with a half full battery. Since then it has not turned on, not even into the bootloader or anything, the screen remains black. I can not plug it in and have a computer recognize it. There is no hdmi output ether. It does charge but also drains the battery quickly. ( i relised this as I plug it in when i start trying to use it and it takes awhile to turn green.
Here, this is for anyone who wants a good laugh:
[ ] Called staples November for repair of broken glass
[ ] Called 10 days after they receaced it to see what was going on as I was not contacted
[ ] Told that they could not fix it and was sending it to scrap place and they would look for a new one
[ ] Found new one few days later and ordered it
[ ] Called after the latest delivery date passed and i did not receace it
[ ] They emailed brands Mart with no responce
[ ] Tablet arrived 5 days later... Never turns on
[ ] Calls staples that night... Was told they would contact brnadsmart..
[ ] Now is january
[ ] Called again a week later as I was not called... They said they will try again
[ ] Called a week later again with no responice... They told me they will set up a repair and will fix it themselves... I would receive box a few days later
[ ] Called a week later as I still had no box... They found out the person who put the request in never finished it
[ ] Got box and sent in tablet
[ ] Got a call a week later being told that since the tablet was already replaced... They would not fix it and sent it back to me broken and told me contact brand smart even though they knew it was repaced when they set up the repair
[ ] Called brand smart and was tenafered many times... Then was told it was passed my 5 days to return it
[ ] Called staples... Pissed... They contacted brandsnart
[ ] Got a call a few days later saying there was nothing they could do and I was at falt
[ ] called back when in had time to argue... Complained that it was there falt as I did call the nifht I got it and it was there fault that I was told bs
[ ] stayed on hold for about 3 hours.... Then case was sent to review tean
[ ] got called back as they agreed with me and they contacted vrandnart
[ ] Eventually got a call back saying brand art agreed to replace it and that I could expect a box within 5 days... Called staples a week later .. No box... They sent my case back to review team... Told I would get a call in a few days...
[ ] Called a week later... Never got explanation on why I was not called... Instead had me contact Motorola to have then fix it
[ ] Called them and was told they would fix it
[ ] They put serial number in and found out it was not a us verision so they had to send it for a review and I can expect a call withen 1-3 days
[ ] motorola called... Tablet from tailand.. Can't fix in us... Would have to somehow call Thailand...
[ ] Called staples and asked to speak to floor manager... Explained what happened and that Im not calling Thailand and paying the extra to even if i could
[ ] He did not understand why not and told me there was nothing he could do
[ ] Called staples corporate... Forwaded to offices of the president
[ ] Explained to him everything
[ ] He went over all notes
[ ] Called someonelese and read the notes again
[ ] He then told me that basically everything that could go wrong did go wrong for me
[ ] So they issued me a $600 check instead of gift card since they felt so bad
[ ] Plus a lot of other bs of missleading calls and wrong numbers and crap

HTC RMA Repair time... [UK]

Hi everyone, I had to send my HD2 to HTC for repair since the Touchscreen failed. I sent the phone last Monday (23rd) and they received it on the Wednesday (25th). My HTC Ticket tracking says they've received the phone, but nothing else. It hasn't been updated in a week which is annoying me since my spare phone was damaged over the past weekend making it impossible to make calls.
I sent an email to their email tech support asking for an update a 2 days ago and still haven't got a reply. I know we've just had a bank holiday, but I've heard people say it can take upto 5 days for a phone to be repaired then shipped back to the customer, is this true?
Just want to know peoples experiences and how fast they got their devices back.
Thank you!
Past experience is that it'll take 10 working days regardless..
Fair enough, I just wish it was kept updated, the status still hasn't changed and it's coming up to those 10 working days. It wouldn't be so bad if my spare phone didn't get damaged last week. What about any one else, 10 working days still or has it been longer in some cases?
Dropped my HD off to them with newton rings, they neglected to email me the update page so I waited a week, called up, was told it was still being looked into, waited another week, called up, again told it was still being looked into, called back a week later, was told they were waiting on me to send them £184 or tell them to dispose of the phone! Finally got the link out of them so I could tell them what to do, apparently this wasn't possible over the phone.
Demanded my phone back, was informed it would be waiting for me, went to the repair centre in MK and created a scene until they returned my phone as they claimed they knew nothing of it, was not happy as they refused to honour the warranty.
Took it back to CPWH to let them try and get HTC to repair it, they sent it off, 3 weeks later it came back saying "no fault found" so was advised I could either let CPWH send it back to HTC and hope they actually read the fault report sent with it, or claim on insurance and get a new phone delivered the next day, I did the latter as I was totally fed up by then.
Geeez, sorry to hear about that, I hope my experience is better than yours! I've just got a status update saying the phone is currently being tested. I hope they fix it, the problem seems quite obvious when the touchscreen doesn't work, but it does work sometimes which is weird. Any one else got any more experiences?

"Camera failed" with no real reason why

It looks like I am sending my phone back for a new one. I was using Root66 with great success and had been doing so since I bought the phone, but I pulled it out to snap a picture the other day and got a black screen (with all the controls) and after 15 seconds or so it popped up "camera failed". I restarted a few times, tried wiping cache, all the normal stuff but I think it is broken for real.
I have flashed back to complete stock in prep for it's return and I am getting the same error now. This sucks!
After a quick phone call to Verizon my new phone is on it's way. Hopefully I get a decent one!! After all the refurb horror stories on here, I am hoping this is not the beginning of my parade of refurb phones. I did that with my OG Droid... ELEVEN PHONES in less than 6 months!

[Q] Nexus i9020t DEAD

Ok, in less that a year this phone stopped breading.
I was hearing music and browsing the web when suddenly stopped working, went completely off.
So, I thought, the battery went out of power... normal in my phone. Went to charge it and NOTHING... changed the battery and NOTHING... changed the charger and NOTHING.
Ok so, lets contact the seller on Ebay, he says, go to Samsung and you will not have a problem.
Went to Samsung, after a LONG time chatting with them, they finally asked me for the IMEI and they said that was not covered by Samsung. (Bought it 03/08/2012) from this guy at Ebay.... theoretically new with one year of warranty.
Went back to the seller and no answer yet.
I writing my case here because I know more than one of you guys have experience with this... maybe you could give me a hint in this process.
Thanks in advance....

Nothing you can do to revive it yourself.
I'd fill a complaint with eBay/Paypal. If you can't get the warranty out your new object because it's supposedly out of it's 1 year warranty, then clearly something isn't right.
Well, seems like Samsung has a HIGH POLICY of trying to make you withdraw the repair claim...
But after I've pushed pushed and pushed, they accepted MY invoice from the guy that sold me the phone and "seems" that they are going to fix it for free.
Will be back with the END of the story soon.
Just trying to leave the history here for any future Nexus S claim/repair....
:good:
They've fixed it and for free.

Orange Spain service Gt-p5100

Do not take your tablet to Orange Spain service!
What happened to me was , the tablet started rebooting, powering of and all sorts of weird things, it was stock, nothing done to it!
I took it to Orange in Mallorca and they kept it there for 1 month and when i got it back it worked for 5 minutes, i finally took it to Samsung and after another month they told me it was out of warranty because somebody voided the Os on it... went back to Orange and they told me they sent it to some person they know and that they can give me the address and phone number and i can take it there myself..
I tried talking to Orange but they said it's not the company's fault and at the end after long calls and arguments i finally gave up ..
So right now i'm writing to advice anyone to take it directly to Samsung if it's still stock ..

Got replacement tablet but will not boot

So, my old tablet had the Y1 battery, and today i got the replacement. Unfortunately it did not respond to power on, screen remained totally black. Tried to hold it for nearly two minutes, but still nothing happened. Left it on charger for 30 minutes or so, and charging light was green. Nothing happened still when trying to turn on.
Contacted Nvidia support and they told me to do the same as i already did. Still did not work....
Was told to fill out RMA form, but since i live in Norway i have to pay 25% customs tax each time a new tablet is sent to me.
Annoying, at least. Any suggestions on what to do?
My replacement received a kill signal it seems. It was working then one day rebooted, went through boot process to a black screen, and then stopped powering on. I tried the recall number they were dumb and told me to file a warranty RMA, eventually they took my info for a manger but I never received a call back. I filled out the customer support form with nvidia and they sent me a canned response about how to reset the tablet. Eventually I escalated and asked some higher ups at nvidia to get me in touch with someone who could look into why a tablet accidentally received a kill signal, before other customers have the same issue. Two days later I have a new tablet in my hands. A RMA is probably all you can hope for at this point.
There have been a few "RMA replacement accidentally killed" reports.
When I get my replacement, I'll be flashing the nomoreota kill switch killer first thing onto the new tablet before letting it onto my the network so it never has a chance to be screwed up.

Well, my replacement did not receive a kill signal since it did not boot at all. The screen shows no sign of getting power. The tablet was completely dead from the beginning.
