If thats really all you want to do with the tablet, then by all means get the 101. be warned that it has a older version of android, and doesn't receive as much/any support from ASUS anymore.
Bought the tf300t in the end

well just asking because I dont know which tablet should I buy. right now Im thinking in the ASUS transformer but im not sure about it because of the lightbleed issues and other stuff
so just give some responses about it and tell me which tab is best !
Top contender at the moment is the Galaxy Tab.
I was going to get a Galaxy Tab 10.1 because it seems to be the best Android tablet at the moment. At the last minute I changed my mind and got an iPad. I know that sounds like blasphemy, but it really is awesome.
*prepares to be flamed*
So if you're going to buy Android, I would go with the Galaxy. I tried a Xoom and it felt a little laggy.
Im out of budget to buy the galaxy tab Im actually not a U.S citizen and the galaxy tab is really expensive here . so my selection is between : motorola xoom , Asus transformer , aser iconia , and thats it

honestly, if it's between those tabs i would get the Acer Iconia...it has the same specs as the Xoom PLUS a usb port for a fraction of the cost...and as i read another response, the Xoom does feel a little bit laggy at first (top reason i rooted and overclocked it to 1.3ghz a core...no more lag) but after an overclock runs great!! but if you're looking for something quick out of the box with no mods, go with the Iconia...fraction of the cost of a Xoom with the same specs and a little more
Well for me i will prefer asus eepad transformer coz u have both laptop & tablet in one function some more u have double the battery 8 hours on tablet & another 8 hours when u dock back to keyboard for total 16 hours juice!!!
Hi Guys ... and Gals,
Am thinking of getting a TF for my wife ... 16GB without the dock.
The experience I have with Android is ... well, pleasant! I use the Nexus S.
Well, since I'm using the Nexus S, I would be interested to know if the TF comes with the original Honey Comb that can be updated directly from Google or if I would have to wait for updates from ASUS.
Yes I know all things are possible with a root, but:
a) I don't want to be messing with her tablet everytime.
b) I think the ASUS keyboard with the numbers on the top line is nice. Is it available as a separate download? Is it available for the mobile too?
I'm currently on holiday and would like to buy it so ... before I move back to is there any particular problems I should look out for?
Thanks for any help
Updates happen through Asus. Though they seem to be on time with them.
I think all tablet updates come from the manufacturer
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Thanks both
So, the only way to get newer versions IF Asus start behaving like HTC or Samsung is to root it and put in a custom rom! Fine ... no probs. Atleast while the going is good, we don't have to worry.
Any known problems I have to look out for before a purchase?
Thanks again.

It's not the known problems you should be concerned about, but the unknown ones.
Get a newer model. Serial code should start with B60xxxxxxxxxxx. B40 is original. B50 middle.
I have a B50 and its nice. Other then that be on the look out for screen bleed. iPad2s have bleed just like everyone else. Some are extreme. Most are barely noticeable. Just keep an eye out.
Asus Transformer 3.1 pwnd

Asus made some subtle changes ( icons on the status bar) but asus was the first company to push out the 3.1 update ( after the xoom )
Thanks ... guess that will help
It's normal that the update come from the manufacturer.
Asus must have to include the specific drivers for it's tablet (not all the hardware is the same, even if the main platform is based on Tegra2)
It also made few modifications for apps integration and visuals.

The Xoom was only first in the US, everywhere else the Transformer got 3.1 before the Xoom. Actually the Xoom only has 3.1 in US, Australia,Japan and China.
it just has a few mods (buttons + some widgets and wallpapers)
I was happy to see that worms was compatible after the 3.2 update, but after I bought it and tried to start it, I get an error message saying unsupported device...
Seems very strange that Android marks it as compatible but as soon as you start the app it says unsupported... :/
Any fix for this ?
You have to download the additional data from a compatible smartphone then copy the folder in the Transformer
And if I don't own an Android phone ??

Thanks EA Just kidding. Don't you have any friend with an Android phone?
I pity those fools XD
Just glad I found out it didn't work in time for my refund to still work..
Anybody have the folder for this? would be nice to play some worms....

Have any of u guys tried emailing he devs? Maybe they can roll out an update if they become aware of issue. I would imagine a big company like ea would offer quick spport
Sent from my Samsung Epic
For those who have successfully installed, is it worth the trouble? Loved the game on PC back in the day.
contacting them
HA contacting them solves nothing..
Have written them several mails, and have yet to receive a single answer..!
Extremely lousy customer service on their part, and ****ty support as well.
curious. I unzipped the sdcard content(com.ea.worms_na) to the root of my microSD and the root of "sdcard" just in case but when i launch worms it still prompts me to download the package then automatically sends me to a eamobile customer service site.
anyone have any input on this?
the com.ea.worms_na folder needs placed in the /Android/data folder on the internal SD card, then it should see it fine.
The game is pretty fun, I've been side loading it since I got it for my old D1 back when it came out. Not as many weapons as some of the older computer versions, pretty similar to the PSP version that came out (Armeggedon? I think)
Controls are a little wonky on some of the things, but once you get used to it, its easy.
worked like a charm. thanks man
Anybody able to zip and upload the needed file/directory to run this?

I want ask experts around here if there is really a chance of windows 8 being installed in our TF300T in the future? a month from now windows 8 will be out but I have no clue if it will be available for TF300T. I'm really pissed in looking for a powerpoint alternative that can create "quality" presentations in android. If it is really a big NO then I might opt for an upcoming windows 8 tablet which I don't want to do as I'm enjoying my TF300T now except for the presentation part which I badly need for work. Thanks!
The big issue, or one of the big issues, is it would pirating windows 8.

No it wouldn't it would just be renovating just like Apple.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
windose? that would be terrible to ruin such a nice tablet.
Wouldn't Ubuntu(Linux) be easyier to port?
I don't know much about Ubuntu but I think there you could also get styles and of ubuntu you could get the license easier (if there is one, I'm not sure...)

Why dont you just remote desktop to a home PC using splashtop 2, OR buy a subcription to OnLive Desktop (if you are the US). It gives you a full windows environment for a set monthly fee.

You can download the app from my dropbox here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uscnxvtf320ct2t/com.onlive.desktop-104621.apk
You may need to go to the onlive site to make an account first, or if you have an account for the onlive gaming app, you can also use that.
.
I love windows 8 *_* The tf300 has the tegra 3 cpu... And w8 rtm is based on this cpu... it's impossible to see it on tf300?
I haven't much knowledge in this topic, but I'm guessing the bootloader locking by Microsoft will be the main issue to work against for an android/Windows 8 RT dual booting tablet.
Experiment!!!
By this time I already have a Zenbook Prime running W8.
As all of us know there is special version of the OS for ARM processors called Windows 8 RTM.
The transformer has a dock station which has USB 2.0. So in theory it is possible to load from USB-drive BUT
I don't know if the transformer's motherboard has BIOS or smth else.
I'm gonna have an experiment and give u the results
And ofcourse if u know smth else, please share it:good:
That would need to made a complete new bootloader for our device, and we don't have any sources of it and on JB we can not flash any custom bootloader because it is signed by ASUS, so just a dream, forget about this idea.
And the storage is sooo small for W8
I would like to buy a ASUS Tf201 however I see there are no updates and miracast is not a option..
Are any of the custom Roms worth putting on this to have all features working + miracast etc
thank you
