I found a solution to get SMS delivery reports working again after the 4.1.2 update.
Okay so with the most recent update Verizon made the switch from sending text messages over their 1x network and moved them to their LTE (and possibly 3g) network, hence the reason they are sending so much faster. Today I was in a classroom that is underground and has terrible reception and noticed that I was getting delivery reports again but that my texts were sending slower, like they used to. I dug around in the phones programing menu and found a new option call "MO SMS over IMS" and it was enabled. Disabling it switches your texts back onto the old 1x network. So if you choose to make the switch, your delivery reports will come back but sending will go back to being a little slower.
To get to this menu open up your dialer and type in ##7764726. Next hit send and when prompted with a password type in 000000 and hit verify. Scroll down to SMS/MMS settings and select it. Next scroll to the bottom, select "MO SMS over IMS", and disable it. Now your good! delivery reports back!
And it also tells you if the device is rooted, that's odd they expect you to do it but make it with a ton of unsafe wormholes.

Anybody have any success sending / receiving MMS (multimedia messages) on Droid 2 Global that is not using Verizon network?
I am using mine on Rogers Canada and I have all necessary settings applied for MMS proper operation. However sending MMS message never succeeds - message details say "National access coverage not available" - message just sits and waits forever.
I have managed to receive 2 only (no idea why), all other show up in conversation (no notification sound) but say message received @ time/date (download) (reject) buttons appear, download always fails, except for the two times messages downloaded successfully.
Looks like Verizon has been messing up with the messaging app. I tried handcent SMS, but it pretty much does the same - looks like it is just an api over the built-in messaging.
MMS is not something utterly important for me, but it will be nice if we can get it working properly.
Like the title says.
BASIC INFO
Here's some basic info. I live in NYC, have t-mobile, have experienced the issue with with my Moto X (T-mobile - aka GSM unlocked) and in the past T-mobile HTC One. both running 4.4 and 4.4.2. Using the stock apps, no third party stuff.
THE ISSUE
My MMS have been hit or missed. They all show as sent on my Moto X but don't always get received (I confirm with the people I'm sending to & check "view details")
This has been going on for like 2 months. 2 days ago, I've been getting SMS really late. for example, receiving SMS 2 days later (I check the timestamps)
TROUBLESHOOTING
So far i've done EVERYTHING lol:
factory reset
3 moto x warranty exchanges
Tried using a T-mobile HTC One
reset app caches
tried not installing any (just factory apps and settings as a controlled variable)
tried different locations (with without WiFi)
sent MMS with images below 1mb limit and even smaller just to be safe
Using new SIM cards with EACH phone
I have concluded that T-mobile has network issues they refuse to acknowledge and I plan on leaving them for a better carrier, cheaper isn't better in T-mobile's case.
Any wanna offer some wisdom, Could someone help a brother out? Thanks in advance!
Motorola (along with my own testing) has confirmed that the stock messaging app has bugs for sending receiving MMS/SMS
I am having a smiliar issue with sms and mms. I am working on a S4 clone (w/ 3G only). It use to be able to send sms to other phones. Recently, it can only send to T-Mobile carriers only. I can receive sms, mms from any other carriers. Sometimes, I can rarely send sms and mms to other carriers. Maybe once in every 20 times. Most of the time, it says "Sending..." and then auto notification saying "not send". Sometimes, the auto notification are instant (pops up right after I hit send button). I am using the stock msg app. any idea? I triple checked my APN and it goes online fine.
I've been noticing for the past few weeks that I have been getting text messages late or not at all. I am using a Nexus 5 with stock Android 5.1 and the Hangouts app on the T-Mobile network. I first noticed this issue when texting back and forth to an iPhone 5C on Sprint, where incoming messages longer than 160 characters would get split up and would not be reordered in the correct order, so I would need to figure out what the heck the message actually said, then I started not receiving sections of these long split messages, now it's gotten to the point where I am missing many full SMS messages (including those shorter than 160 characters). I thought this was only an issue between Sprint to T-Mobile or iOS to Android, but I am even receiving delayed messages from Moto G's on T-Mobile. It is worth it to note that for the most part MMS messages come in fine. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues, or can suggest a work around? Thanks!
Go into cellular networks choose network operators and wait until the list pops up and choose T-Mobile. That always fixes it for me
Hello all,
I've been having an issue for the past couple of months where most calls to my phone go straight to voicemail (I'll very occasionally receive a call), and I will usually not receive text messages for several hours (toggling on/off airplane mode will sometimes force them to show up, but making an outbound call will always result in any pending text messages being received). When I do receive text messages, they all show up at once.
Note that the data connection is working perfectly fine - I can be browsing the internet no problem, but not receive calls or texts. Also, the signal is strong all through the area I live/work, and it doesn't matter where I am located, the issue persists.
Any suggestions on what is going on? It is out of warranty, so suspect Google will be no help. It sounds like an issue with the phone not checking in with the cell towers, and I also purchased the phone directly from Google, so I suspect T-Mobile won't be much help either (I'll be checking with them sometime this weekend, though).
Things I have tried:
1. Factory reset phone.
2. Removed and wiped off SIM card.
3. Installed newest updates.
4. Turned off all battery saving settings.
5. Messed with manually creating an APN according to T-Mobile's site, and played around with the settings.
Thank you
EDIT: I downloaded a cellular status app, and it looks like I see "Service State: Out-Of-Service" when I'm unable to receive texts. At times that I receive them, it says "In-Service." "Sim State" is always "ready," regardless.
EDIT 2: Looks like this is only happening when LTE is selected. If I switch to 3G, everything always works (EDIT 2: Just had a test call fall to go through. All test texts have succeeded, though). On LTE, it only works intermittently.
Hi,
I purchased a refurbished Note 10 Plus 5G. Been happy with it so far. But had some issues receiving text messages.
My phone does not have an option to enter a service centre number. I spent a while with O2 helping me trouble shoot. After trying everything else I could find online. It seems like in settings>more settings within the custom messages app that there is no option for this. Also th shortcut to get the number (*#*#4636#*#*) does not work either.
Interestingly when I put my sim in an old phone the old texts which were not received came straight through on my old mobile. Since then I seem to be able to receive some messages (but concerned the issue could return and the phone will not be able to be refunded). Particularly as the menu system online to enter the text service number is still not available.
Is my phone faulty? Or is this others have experienced.
Thanks.

I am able to send text messages, and make and receive calls with no issues.
I also do not have the option to request read receipts (I don't need this, but may be relevant to the issue).
