Is 4G available in your area? Where I am at we just got 4G.

Go get a new SIM card from Verizon. I had the exact same problem. My SIM card from my galaxy nexus (where I had 4g with no problems) would not work on my used s3. Well, everything worked except 4g. Put in a new SIM card from Verizon and everything worked fine.

Thats the phone I came from. ...thanks

Indecisive Sprint customer.

So I have had the Epic 4G since it came out over 2 years and with how much it chugs, the terrible battery life, and the now cracked screen, its time for an upgrade. I've been holding out for Google to announce a new Google phone but it doesn't look like there will be a Sprint version for some time. I'm currently debating between the S3 or the Note 2 but not sure which. What does anyone else think? There might be other phones I'm missing but I've heard really good things for both of these.

I would go for the note 2. That's my next phone but I'm going to Verizon for it.

Next new phone...

Almost time to upgrade from my current phone. I'm on sprint, any recommendations? I am considering either the evo lte, the gs3, or if they still have it in store the evo 3d.

Traveling to South Africa

Does anyone know if my Verizon Galaxy S3 (i-535) will work in South Africa with a local South African SIM card? I will be traveling there next month and want to use a local SIM. I have the jellybean firmware installed.
Thanks a lot.
It should work if you are on the global contract with Verizon.

Having the Verizon global contract has nothing to do with using a local sim card internationally.
Op you should get voice no problem, but not data. Follow here for steps to edit your APN to get data

Talking and browsing

When did Verizon change so we can talk on the phone and surf at the same time?

Probably about five years ago. I used to do It on my HTC eris

Thunderbolt was the first to allow simultaneous voice and data on 3g. You maybe have been on WiFi on the eris.

I thought att's claim to fame was to be the only carrier to accomplish this.

Well AT&T figures if you're dumb enough to pay to be on their network you're probably also dumb enough to believe that too....
If you are/were an AT&T customer I mean no offense, I'm just not a fan
I think those commercials are for the iPhone 5. I believe it has something to do with the Verizon iPhone not being able to do it.

I believed it and until now still believed it. Didn't stop me from dumping AT&T two years ago.

AT&T sim cards

Hi All, I have an LTE provisioned line. The phone is a GS2 SKYROCKET. Can I just go to AT&T and get the smaller sim card that the Nexus 5 requires. Or do I have to perform major Surgery on my rocket card? Thanks in advance!

go into a ATT store and they will give you one..
I used one of those punchout cutters to cut the SIM card from my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket down to a MicroSIM. Worked with no problems in the N5, I'm running on LTE, etc. Less hassle for me than going to a store, and at least I had a SIM card that I knew would work!
Cool, thanks to both of you.
