so my screen broke and only 1/3 of my screen works. it was ok for a while cause I was usng my dock for pretty much everything but now sometimes my screen will randomly get pressed on certain pressured spots and intterupt what im trying to do on my screen. So I found a place that is able to install a new screen and a place that sells the parts but I don't know which version of screen to buy. here is the link v1 http://www.sinomobileparts.com/for-...1-inch-touch-screen-digitizer-v0-1_p4889.html
and v2
http://www.sinomobileparts.com/for-...1-inch-touch-screen-digitizer-v0-2_p5183.html
is there any difference in the screen types? one is cheaper than the other so if there is no difference obviously I would get the cheaper one but does anyone know how to tell which version to buy? I bought this tablet like in january so would I get the newest version?
update: I called asus and no one is given the information or at least they won't release the info of how to find out which digitzer to get. all they can do is set up for me a send in tablet profile so they can fix it for 300 dollars plus, yea right. I read somewhere apparently the version numbe is on the inside of the digitzer screen
ok for future reference it seems you have to open up your tablet in order to see which screen digitzer version your tablet uses. I used this : http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Asus+Transformer+Infinity+TF+700+Teardown/10306/1 to open up my tablet to figure it out. it is really simple. I have my part coming in from sinomobileparts.com which I will be installing myself . also I dont know if this helps but I got this tablet in january so maybe the newer tablets come out with v.02 but idk

I recently bought a HTC touch phone and i suspect it is a Chinese clone but i really dont know. They all look the same to me (the phones). After searching Xda it appears to be like the HTC Elf100 and dopod S1. Is there a definitive way to tell the exact model? The phone was purchased from a website called Deal Extreme.
I would like to know if it is possible to extract the ROM from the phone and save it onto my computer for back up.
More importantly (and the reason i am here) is that the screen is malfunctioning in that the colours are all very faded and there are black lines across the length of the screen wherever there is text or icons. There is a severe flicker when the backlight is set to anything other than full brightness. For the first three days the screen was crystal clear and the colours very vibrant. The only changes made were installing some third party softwares and applying a screen protector.
I have uploaded an image here:

I am trying to isolate the problem down to software or hardware. If it is hardware i will order another screen or digitizer and replace it and if it is software i will begin to look down that path, perhaps flashing the unit with more up to date ROM.
Tell us one thing, is the serial number in the following format? -> HTxxxGxxxxx, if Yes you have have original HTC Touch, if No, you have a nice Chinese clone.
If the back of the device underneath the battery looks like attached picture, you have the clone on your hands. you will have to ship it back to DX for replacement or repair.
Regards
Just from looking at the front of your phone, yes you have a clone
Yep CLone
OK Thanks for assistance. I have a clone here. DX offered to send me a replacement screen if i can locate one on their website. I would have thought they would know if they have one in stock but apparently not.
Can anyone think of a way to find what sort of a screen i would need to replace this one? I am told that the original HTC screen will not do, perhaps different pin outs.
Replacement screen
So i guess i am just sh#t out o luck then? The retailers can't find a replacement screen. Can the ridgy didge screen be modified to fit a clone?
Don't know. Since it's a clone they can have used whatever LCD, with whatever flex connector. But one thing for sure is that you wont be able to use original HTC Touch LCD.
Best option is to ship back to DX for replacement.

Ok so i walked into my desk at work last week and cracked the LCD - i had already puchased a new digitiser as my screen was getting pretty scratched up so i figured i'd simply buy a new LCD and take the phone and new parts round the corner to my local phone shop who were happy to replace my screen and return the next day.. great.
Fast foward and now i have a BIG problem. The new LCD doesnt seem to work once the phone has booted. SO, when you turn the phone on you get the usual windows boot screen with the rom info in red in the bottom corner (im using Monx's latese 6.5 rom). After that though it all goes Pete Tong, when then alignment wizard starts the screen goes nuts, flickering like an old TV and not displaying a steady image. The guys at the store say the phone is damaged from the knock to the screen however before I did a hard reset and removed my sim and SD card the parts of the LCD that were still able to display the today screen etc were showing everything correctly and flicker free and even allowed me full touch control with the stylus.
I basically need some advice from people who know a thing or two about replacing Touch Pro screens. Despite what the shop guys say i suspect that my screen is not compaitble with my Touch Pro which is originally a UK Vodafone but i now live in Canada and got the new LCD from the States. The person who sold me the LCD said it was compatible with all Touch Pros & Diamonds, but then he would say that wouldnt he!
My options are either buy another LCD and hope that does the trick or bite the bullet and get a new crappy canadian contract and a new handset. please help me ive tried the search and cant find anything that helps me and im desperate for a solution!
Cheers
Its a LCD issue what you got, my guess is that the person at the store either gave you a faulty one or its a duplicate lcd, also cleaning the LCD connector with alcohol would be a good idea. Its very rare that in the Diamond/Touch Pro category the connector to get damaged.
I have bought the chines Star S9, fooled by the low price and extremely high specs, from here: flosmall.com/phones/star-s9-red-detail
And I must say that despite the phone having terrible battery life, randomly going to sleep, being on constant roaming (it was charging me as normal - ufff), having weird chines app installed that couldn't be removed (spyware or surveillance - never know with Chinese), the smart cover not working and having the most absurd themes(there was in fact no way to delete them or go back to original theme) i was happy having payed 175 pounds for a phone with FHD screen and 32 gb rom. Then after a month of it it dropped from about 50cm to a wooden floor, and the screen cracked in two(irony is it split right down the middle - left hand side is unresponsive while right works fine). When will they make screens that last (i know that iphone screens are good, but for android i heard ppl complain even about newest phones dropping from small distances and cracking).
Anyways here finally is my question. Does anyone know or have any information where i can get a replacement screen? Even the part number of screen would be helpful. Hell the website of manufacturer would be a plus (many star phones on Amazon but no manufacturer website - WTF??)
Message to all, DEFINITELY DO NOT BUY FROM CHINA or from outside Europe and America. 2nd DO NOT BUY CHEAP CHINESE PHONES I know just how tempting it is but save yourself the trouble and waste of money.
Thnaks for any help given,
Best,
Max
Cracked Screen
hi,the same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. I have been looking everywhere and the only thing helpful I have found was a 'LCD with Touch Screen Digitizer Assembly for Star S9 5.0 inch' on Aliexpress
However I don't know how to install the screen and it costs another £75.
If you know how to install screens or can help in anyway please do.
This phone cost me a lot of money and I don't want to waste it.
Thanks
Joel
Hi everyone
I broke the screen on my tablet over a year ago, had the screen replaced with a new one but when i got it back the touch didnt work. The guy seemed like he was sorry about it so he only ended up charging me 30 bucks and said something else is wrong. i was skeptical about it cause with the cracked screen the top corner still responded to touch and now nothing works
...long story short i did some research and saw that theres a few different types of screens for the 300 i figured they may have put the wrong one on so i removed the back to check the version number (it is written on the cable that goes from the glass to the tablet).
However. On my tablet there is no cable at all... i guess i got screwed by the place they put a defective screen or something... Either way of course the touch isnt working the cable isnt even there...
all i need to know is if theres another way to find the version number for the lcd they are pretty cheap online im just going to take a stab at fixing this myself..
ive asked asus that was a waste of time they advised me to send it in they would fix it for 250...ya right

Do you still need help with this? If you do, open the tab, take all necessary precautions with the battery, remove all boards and cables, and look where the digitizer's ribbons should be. If they're not there, it means they've been ripped when the "repairman" reassembled the thing. If the lcd still works, all you need is a new digitizer. A G01 would work across the board and is cheap. Go to this thread for more info. Good luck.
Thank you I had given up for a while but just wiped the dust off this thing yesterday...I'll give it a try

First post, complete noob, so I apologize.
Someone just gave me a TF300T that had a broken LCD and touch screen on it and I thought I would replace them, they seem to go for about $70 for both parts. Seems like its worth it since used ones go for about $130 on ebay.
My LCD screen says its a Rev 4, but I cant really seem to figure out the touchscreen version. I only see G01 and G03 version kits on ebay.
I attached a photo of the numbers on the touch screen ribbon.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
anyone?
your touch screen is No version
