Connected to the htc charger the phone wigs unless touching the phone while touching the screen. Connected to my vibrant charger it works fine without issue,no need to ground it.
I know people said connected to charger it has issues but its specifically the stock one (atleast in my case, hopefully you too) and the charger itself causing the issue. So get a new charger. Htc will have to make new ones cause these are junk.....

Crazy ,anyone know how or why that's happening inside the htc charger?
I had the problem with.the charger if the phone was on its back laying somewhere and I tried to use the Screen it would go crazy. My replacment charger comes in on Monday. Hopefully they have fixed the problem.

I think they made a bad batch.. cause that's just wack ..
Its what made me exchange my 1st phone. No issues with the new charger.

Yep, I have no issues while charging the phone with the stock charger/USB cable.
No issues so far. Charger, no charger, holding it, not holding it. Never any problems with screen responsiveness. But I've only had it 3 days, so we'll see. Knocking on wood while typing...
Dude, you might actually be on to something. I have come to the conclusion that whether anyone believes it or not. The touch screen issue IS NOT a software issue. I really do think that over time, the device is holding on to static electricity which is causing the issues. My old phone that was doing this would stop after I pulled the battery for 1 hour but would start to act back up as the day went on.
Plus, this is the first Android device I've used where the battery starts acting up if you don't use the cable included with the Sensation.
I had the exact same issue. I use my MT3G charger now, as I like the shape much better. I hate how the Sensation charger sticks out so far from the wall.

It had touchscreen issues in general. The whole charger thing just put it over the top.

I can't believe it
I too have this problem but not with the stock charger. Since I got my phone I have been using the same old no name charger with no name usb cable. Until I came upon this posting and tried to unlock my phone or type something while it was charged it would go crazy. I even touched the phone as in the video and tried to use the touch screen but it didn't work as normal. Now I have to try and use the stock charger to see if its the phone or the charger it self.
**used the stock HD2 charger and cable and no problems**

I was thinking this exact same thing.... About the static electricity...
Another weird thing is that even when you plug in the wionky charger, the first few swipes are golden, then about 3 swipes later, wonky.
I've used my old BlackBerry USB cable to sync it and have had no problems. It's really surprising to see so many people with problems...I was actually going to return my Sensation because of the WiFi death grip issue but I don't want to run the risk of getting another one of these issues.

Maybe the stock causes issues like mine and another charger is fine .... Just checked again my stock charger makes it crazy..
And don't exchange for WiFi issue.. they all have it. Well the three I've had..
Haven't had any issues with the stock charger but I mostly use the Nexus one wall charger due to its awesome length, imo It's the best charger htc has provided with a device

And yea, what's up with this two foot charger junk..lol. I feel like I'm humping the socket using it while charging..
I can certainly say that it the problem affects more devices than you think. I'm not totally sure what causes it but you guys should see my zune hd.. It will literally control itself. Play music by itself, go in and out of menus (super fast by the way). If you guys want a video I can upload one if I can find it... It freaked me out when it first started to happen keep in mind, the zune is perfectly normal and works fine. The charger was one of those cheap chinese stuff.. So it could be a quality issue. I have yet to have the problem on my myTouch 4g though. I had it in a vibrant, hd2, I think even a G2 .

My Nexus1 used to do that on some chargers. Had to turn the screen off and back on to get it to clear up. Figured they were just slightly out of spec chargers and tried not to use them anymore.
I have just replaced my digitizer (was dust under the screen and also a scratch on the digitizer itself, along with the fact I damaged it removing the sticky tape) and the whole screen is almost completely unresponsive. Brand new, but wont work fully until I touch the screen for a bit or give it time to sit after activating the lockscreen.
Once it is through it's "warmup" the screen works flawlessly. It just acts like a slug before that... Also rendering the quick launch lock screen completely worthless. Anyone have any ideas what could be the culprit?

I too replaced a broken screen on my sensation, and i am experiencing the exact same problem as you. Only for me it's only the lower left part of the screen that 'takes time to warm up'.
Did you find any solution?
Not yet. I have another digitizer on order, and fingers are crossed. If not, ill be biting the bullet and waiting for the nexus prime. I have this feeling that it is something other than the digitizer which is extremely sensitive. If people are claiming responsiveness issues after a week or two of use, and while on their sixth or seventh sensation... It sounds like something is slowly deteriorating or building up.

I don't think it's the digitizer either, probably something else ont he phone. However i don't think it is the same problem as everybody else is having, since they experience their screen being unresponsive in general rather than just after turning on.
I am though going to try some of the fixes suggested, i.e. improve the grounding by placing some aluminum foil under the cover and see if it helps.
What does "turning on" mean? Cold boot up? If so, then the CPU on the phone will be busy doing stuff. If you mean waking up from sleep, then that's another problem.
for me it's both cases, both when booting the phone and just when turning the screen back on. What's strange is that it is only the lower part of the screen that's frozen :-S after 10-20 seconds it suddenly springs back to life just as nothing had happened and works flawlessly until i turn the screen of. Then i see the exact same problem again.
I also noticed now that the screen also freezes after calling somebody and when you hang up :-0 I really don't know what is wrong with the phone!
If the phone is unsecured (never sleeps) it will work flawlessly. As soon as I click the top button to secure the screen, or take a phone call, once I try to unlock/ use the screen again... The problem comes back. The left side of the screen is the most responsive, usually moving my finger around for about five or ten seconds will restore full sensitvity. I received a new digitizer in the mail, just waiting on tape. Interesting note; they are different digitizers. The original was HTC/ tmobile brand while the replacement is simply HTC. The ribbon cable also reads different. My original: pyd v1.0, sw-10 94v-0, e3082521117. The new one reads: pyd v1.0, e21954-1, ruICACichia, 94v-0 1112. The current digitizer replacement is also a standard HTC label... I wonder if it is because it isn't a specific model replacement.

Alright so i tried doing all the fixes related to the grounding issue, and i didn't affect anything at all.
I'm going back to the repair shop today (have a three months warranty) to tell them to have a look at it again and see if they can fix the issue. Maybe they have a spare digitizer they could try instead of my current one. I will let you know if anything helps!
Sounds good. I am betting its either an incorrect digitizer for the model of phone (us/eu/whatever) improper mounting or damage, or just planetary alignment or something equally stupid. I'm really hoping someone figures out this problem... It is frustrating to spend more time figuring out how to fix a phone than you actually do using it.

True, had i known from the start i would probably just have bought a new phone, rather than spend on the money on getting the screen replaced :-S
Well, I replaced the digitizer for a second time. Seems to be the same thing so far. Different initial responsiveness spot (looks like the right side might be more sensitive now) but I didn't have high hopes. I wonder what it could be...

So i went back to the repair shop and got it fixed. I guess they weren't in the mood for scientific inquiry, because they simply disassembled the phone and installed a new digitizer. After that everything is working fine, altough i will never know if it was the digitizer itself or some faulty wiring somewhere :-S
Worked for me
I have had exactly the same problem you all have experienced. The first digitizer I ordered from a company on e-bay gave me huge problems at the unlock screen. Bought a new one from skalshop and it works perfectly. I even tried it without tape to make sure it worked before I glued the thing together and it worked perfect.
hi i replaced the digitizer following a guide i found online
step by step and being really careful.
when i finish the phone wouldn't turn on you can feel it vibrates once but that's all.
y tried going to the bootloader but it wont work.
i search online and found a couple of posting on forum anout people having the same exact issue, but without answer.
y re-opened to verify if i missed something, 3 times, but everything was fine except to the very last time i broke the ribbon for the track pad.
when i plug it to my laptop my charging light comes on for 3 sec then goes off and back on for 3 sec. and remains on a loop .
could it be that it needs to be reset some how?
i was thinking maybe i fried the board with my static, but i doubt it.
please help.
thanks in advance
I can suggest that you need to make 100% sure the ribbon cable for the slider is not dinged or has the black coating worn off. Other than that I suggest that you make sure the connection from the LCD (not the digitizer) didn't come loose. Those Jawbone connectors can be a pain to get in correctly. Also even though you got the connectors in right you need to make sure you didnt accidentally nick or fold the ribbon.
Also make sure the socket connector on the main board is on correctly. It may seem on but there should be a tactile snap when it goes on properly. The connector I am talking about here is the one that you pull off before lifting off the slide flex cable to take off the mother board.
One last thing on that connector...make certain none of pins got bent either.
I have done many different repairs of phones so those are the things I would look for. I havent repaired 4g slide yet bit have done other HTC phones and the similarities of the 4g slide motherboard and the Sensation's are crazy. It really is mostly a sensation with a keyboard and smaller screen.

yeah i know which one you re talking about, i'm going to take it apart again now. the only think i see wrong is,when i tried to separate the lcd from the the casing i might over heated it with the dryer, or i slide a credit card in to separate it and the flex got a little torn but i don't see any cracks or damage on the ribbon, but if that was the case the phone would turn on and just don't display anything, but is not booting up at all.
thanks for your reply tho. i appreciate it
nope, i just re-checked everything, and is the same thing. is someone want to buy itas is pm me.
EDIT: Alright, I did the reset completely now and it seems to be working, still kinda reluctant to work in portrait mode. Suggestions/comments/help highly appreciated.
Hi, I've lurked this site for years but I only joined just to ask this question.
Now, I currently have this phone, the Mytouch 4G Slide for T-Mobile, for about 8 or 9 months now. Everything is fine. Except when I dropped it.
I dropped it and now the touchscreen sometimes doesn't work, no matter if it's in portrait or landscape. The keyboard still works and the face buttons work but the touchscreen is iffy. I thought it might be the digitizer but after doing some research on Google, if it were that, it would NEVER work from what I understood.
So, from then I thought it had to be a software issue, which is understandable as I did install a bunch of apps within the month, one of those including a compass. I removed and saved everything, then did a master reset/clean wipe and restarted my phone anew. I turned it on, and the screen came on. I went to slide the ring, and it didn't slide. Everything else works, touchscreen is still being pissy.
I notice when I let it sit for a bit, with it off and with the battery out, and turn it back on after about 5 to 10 minutes, it works okay. Either the screen will work in both portrait or landscape, OR only portrait or landscape. And sometimes, rarely, neither will work.
Is it possible for the digitizer to be -slightly- damaged? Or is it one of those things where if it's broken, it's noticeably broken? I'm not sure how to go about this as I've done everything I could think of. Some assistance would really be nice.
Digitizers can be partialy working, I have ran into this many times. To me it sounds like a bad digitizer or flex cable, but more than likely the digitizer

So, should I open it up and see what's going on or just replace it completely? I already know how to, I just have to go and buy the kit.
I have torn open many phones in my day, and this is without a doubt the most pain in the ass! If it won't cost you much to have someone else do it, say less than 50, it may be worth it. But it will only be 20 if you buy a new digitizer from ebay and do it yourself. Its easy to tear apart untill you get to the "screen assembly" for lack of better words.
Here there is soooo much sticky it can be hard to take apart without cracking lcd. So if you do this, use ample heat for like five min or more to seperate the chasis from the lcd back.
If your curious on my expeience I posted about it here

Hi guys I'm new here.
So here's the problem. My One S z560e dropped of my pocket on the floor. Landed on screen. Screen is broken and on the surface of the screen i can't feel cracked screen just see under there are cracks in left corner of screen. I cant turn on phone, when plugged in orange led is on like is charging. When charging it gets very hot not as usual charging when phone was working. Everything is stock. I have z560e version. I am sure that screen and digitizer are broken but why i cant turn it on? Motherboard maybe?
Thanks for reply's
the best thing to do is to take it to hTC
I think u should sell your htc one s ebay as broken and the buy a new one
sent to htc...screen and motherboard were dead...lost some of data backup succesfully worked for me
thanks guys
