Hi!
Im running the latest CM10-Version (FXP211) from FreeXperiaProject on my Xperia J. I searched the hole settings-menu for an option to enable USB mass storage mode. When I plug in the USB-cable there are only the options "MTP" and "PTP". Where can I enable the mass storge mode? Or is there really no msc-mode in CM10 for the Xperia J?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, as far as I know, MSC capability was removed from stock android since ICS.
I've tried many solutions, but none worked. (It is pain in the neck on Linux, where MTP support is close to nonexistent).
For now, i'm using playstore apps syncing via ssh, and sometimes USB debug and adb push from android-sdk

When you connect your phone at PC it will ask you to install PCC.Tap proceed and then all will be fine. You could also enable USB debugging from Settings -> Developer options.
If the window to Install PCC doesn't pop up and you connect USB just go to Settings->Xperia and tick Install PCC.Then connect the USB.At USB connection mode select MTP(it's usually set this way by default, but who knows).Good luck!

HI all, I seem to have a problem getting my laptop (ubuntu 12.04) to recognize my phone as storage when connected via USB. Here's what happened. I have already enabled USB debugging and USB debugging notify. When I plugged the phone to my laptop I got the usual message on the screen of my phone an when I clicked on it there were 2 tick boxes: one to recognize the phone as camera (that by the way worked) and the other one that recognized the phone as storage: when ticked nothing happened on my laptop, so I unticked both and now that bloody message is not coming up anymore on my phone, I only got one which says "USB debugging connected". ANy idea?
thanks
Disable the USB debugging... It's not needed for storage connection.

HI thanks, ok fair enough but somehow I seem to have messed up with it and I would like to fix it if I can: I can't get the usb debugging mode message up when I connect the phone and the laptop doesn't recognize it as storage, not only ubuntu but even windows! could it be a matter of drivers? If so where can I get them from?
thanks

Thanks. When I connect the device as PTP it gets connected but when I do it as MTP , computer shows the error that drivers are not installed.
I'm having a similar problem on my phone, there is no option to change USB computer connection, so phone not regonised when plugged into PC? Any ideas?
MTP is a proprietary and modern protocol, older or open source OS's will not support it out of the box. You will need the relevant drivers, not sure how to do it on older version of Ubuntu, may be worth looking in their forums (support is included in new version in the proprietary driver bundle). There are no drivers for Windows XP, but you can get them for Windows 7, I'll dig out the guide I have bookmarked somewhere.

Here are the three guides I have bookmarked relating to MTP, I think the first from Tom's Hardware should fix (download is in 3rd post).

Oh yeah the other thing I didn't mention is MTP honors your phones security, so if you have a secure lock it won't show up initially until screen is on and device is unlocked.
Same issue, no options under USB computer connection !

Hi, boringfrog,
were you able to get the issue resolved ?
After the phone upgraded from 12.0-YNG1TAS17L to 12.0-YNG1TAS2I3, i am seeing the similar issue, my phone will only charge on a Laptop, i tried different cables, 2 laptops, uninstalled and re-installed drivers, nothing works, i did a dirty flash back to 12.0-YNG1TAS17L the issue still exists, i tried enabling and disabling ADB debugging etc...
Under storage options , under the three dots on the right i see the USB computer connection, upon hitting it , nothing happens, the storage page just refreshes... no options to mount as MTP....
Please help need to copy the data from phone to PC...

Sorry it was a friends phone so I just returned it to him after try a few attempts. Can you not put your data into the cloud then you can access it on your PC? Good luck.
PC not recognizing OnePlus 2 after update to Oxigen 3.0.1
What seems to solve the problem is to pull down the notifications bar, which shows one notification which gives you multiple options for the USB. Please choose the file download option(usually the second option). Your OPT will show up on the PC.
Thanks and regards to all.
Hello xda users!
I have bought a CAT s50 device and I am very used to feature that phone vibrates once when someone answers my call. Since it runs andorid 4.4.2 it does not support this feature by default. So I found app Vibrate Call (on Play store) (if someone knows better way around without rooting it would be cool)
So there is a main problem - when I try to access my phone via "adb devices" command it is not shown there (I enabled USB debugging and device can be seen in explorer). So I cannot run the shell to enable app. I tried it as well on Linux where no drivers are needed
Any solutions? Anyone faced the same problem?

Try to unmount the storage / deactivate MTP when you are going to use ADB. Have you checked the devicer manager if your phone is listed?
Still no success. Looks like there is missing ANDROID (not USB) driver for s50 (under device manager). But it is strange that it did not work on Linux, but I am not sure that I tried PTP mode insted of MTP as you said.

Any other ideas? Tried to contact developer from Bullit group, but still no answer.
After upgrading to marshmallow, the internal storage is no longer accessible from my computer. It only works when on twrp recovery mode. Already turned off USB debugging, changed MTP and back, reinstalled the latest ADB drivers, removed the ADB drivers completely and no cigar. Anyone else going through this?
I think you have to pull down the notification shade and search MTP. I can't remember what I did (you only have to do this once) but you can go to Settings, Developer options, Select USB Configuration (under Networking), and select MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) to enable this.
For 6.0 and up the internal storage, like lollipop was not allowede to be accessed on your computer even with mtp or media transfer protocol selected on your dev options. What i highly suggest for you is to tryother methods such as use stickmpunt from chainfire or try an app like airdroid to transfer files from your phone to the comp or vice versa

You pull down the notification shade and tap the USB icon, switch the MTP. I have to do this every time, regardless of the option set in developer settings.
With the mtp checked will you be able to transfer files on 6.0? I failed for it on my computer here though

If ur rooted install multirom and install cm13 as secondary os.. then connect to ur pc while ur in cm13 it will detect the driver after that unstall cm 13 and connect as u do normally
like if worked
hey i found away around it thx though!
How did you fix the problem?
"hey i found away around it thx though!"
But why in the name of all that's holy would you ask the question and then not share the answer for others who regularly have the same problem? Keeping info to yourself is the best way of maintaining your "zero thanks" status...
oh sorry for not sharing what i did to solve the problem! here is what i did!
1. connect phone to pc
2. unlock
3. swipe down and touch the notification that says "usb for charging touch for more options"
4. select the option you want
