Ubuntu OS - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Anyone still trying to work on this? I'm not trying to intrude or asking for ETAs. Is there any progress on this at all?

Rohan is the developer for it. He has been working on it since day one of release. However, he is having RIL issues when trying to compile. It's not detecting our RIL.
That's the last I heard. It also might be awhile since Github got DCMAed, so all htc_vendor_xxx device trees have been removed. Even from the CyanogenMod Github.

I don't think anything active is going on, I am interested in trying it on phone as well.

*Sigh* Things are getting harder and harder these days. I really hope things pick up and they can get past this block in the road. I wish there was a way to get a live feed of the progress going on. Thanks for the update.

I thought htc would have been the one to file a dmca complaint about htc things...either way, they have a longstanding track record of screwing with us. (and it extends well before this particular phone).
At any rate, as I dont want to turn this into a bash htc thread, i'll go back on topic.
Rohan - just want to say thanks for at least attempting the build. Hopefully the RIL issue will get sorted at some point (maybe when the OS is a little more complete, anyway. I was able to play with it on my inspire and it was pretty neat, though lacking, for obvious reasons)

The whole dcma crap doesn't effect this at all. When he tried to compile it on his computer, the toolchain is giving errors telling him that the RIL isn't being found.

Why is it "not fair"? The One S was released on April 25th, almost 2 weeks before the One X was released. Not to mention they pushed it back from tomorrow to June 4th so it's still possible we could still get an update first.

CM9/10?

I've searched and search, but I see nothing about CM development for the 'Bolt for ICS or JB. Has anyone picked up that torch yet? Has it been deemed too large of a project, or just no interest? And of course, if I've missed something, please feel free to give me a swift kick to the head.

Once the ril is adapted to work with aosp I suspect there will be stuff kicking again

My apologies if I posted in the wrong section, since I was specifically asking about CM development potential, I thought this would be right. I've never claimed to be more than a half-witted n00b. So just to be sure, if I were actively working on CM, it would be ok to post about the progresses there?

If you have a rom in the works yea go for it. But the op should have stated that the rom was in the works at the very least. There is no point in cluttering the development thread with q and a. As far as I know there isn't official cm9 or 10 development for this phone. I'm sure someone will pick it up (probably workshed).

I think (could be wrong) a device needs a stable build to get a subforum on their site. For example, the Nexus 7 doesn't have a forum there either, but you can bet your ass it's getting official CM10 (as I'm running the nightlies on my N7 now). The TB is going to be tricky because it has never had any official CM build - someone from the team is going to have to sign up to be the maintainer, and start doing what is required to get nightlies going.
I still have my suspicions about getting official CM - I think more likely is you'll have a situation similar to gingerbread where slayher, workshed, and the others at least get an "unofficial" CM working, which is really as good as the "real thing" anyway. Either way someone is taking CM source and doing what's needed to make it run on the Bolt.

A new build each night!

Something I noticed about CyMod and its forums

Something I wanted to point out - I visited CyanogenMod forums the other day, and they have a dedicated section towards unofficial builds for phones that they don't officially develop for, and one of the posts was Liquid's ICS, and no one seemed to have an issue with it... in fact no one really said much besides that they liked it.
So let me ask you this... all this stuff about people getting upset because Liquid uses CyMod features as a base for features in his releases - don't you think that if anyone up at CM had an issue with it, they'd say explicitly that they have an issue with a dedicated developer making a build for a phone that isn't supported officially by CM?
Just a thought.
The cm team is aware of devs kanging their work to hell and back. By now I'm sure they don't care as often as it happens.

As great as Rootz is, I don't really have much reason to go back there. I had my fun, had some good times, bad times, and well, learned what I could, now I'm just moving on. But lets not get into that.

Guess this isn't the time for making ROMs.

I wanted to started out making my own ROMs and it seems that everything is getting switched over for 4.2. Now I have limited programming skills and kinda bums me out I can't make any at this point. I might be posting in the wrong section.

OP,
If you want to start with ROMs, I would suggest either learning C and then compiling stuff from source, or work on porting ROMs and fixing bugs. Either one is good. Source building will be harder if you have no prior experience in C programming

I would love to see an HTC Sense ROM ported to the Infuse! Sadly I don't think I would be of much help on the developing side, I wouldn't mind being a tester if you ever happen to need one though.

Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
That's not the point. I just wanted to know if there was interest in it.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
It's harder then you think....
First you got to find an HTC device with a similar (preferably same) chipset...which is rare since most htcs run qualacom hardware
A while back I did find a device with pretty much the same chipset that should be useable...gotta see if I still have its ruu (ruu is HTC official Rom release...actually stands for Rom update utility)
You then gotta extract the ruu contents (requires both windows and linux...)
Then you need to build the infuse kernel from source changing the bootclasspath in the init.rc and other stuff relating to sense instead of touchwiz
I'm not saying its impossible...and its still something I would like to do...but unfortuantly I just don't have the time to really do anything anymore due to school and work...and I recently got into league haha...so when I'm not working or at school I'm either with friends or playing league...but usually I'm at work or school. Oh yeah my infuse also got stolen...so no device to work with anymore (damn car fishers)
That's the basics...theres a few tutorials on how to port sense to no sense devices that can help you...just google how to port sense
Anyways, good luck...thus reply was mainly.to let you know what your in for and what kind of computer setup your gonna need (dual booting linux/windows)
Edit oh yeah...pretty sure the device I had found had an ics 4.0.4 stock Rom...at least for Iraq users...but English should still be an option in that Rom and if its not we can always add it in...anyways ill let you know later if I can find the ruu/device for you to work with
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Not to be mean, but I've got the hard part covered. There's a sense port for the captivate that rums on top of cm. I'm not saying that its going to be super simple, its also not going to be as hard as you described.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
I think were talking about similar but different things...
I think your talking about taking an sense Rom that's already been ported to a non sense device and then porting that port to us
I'm talking about taking an official HTC sense release, extracting the contents for a flashable zip and porting that
Regardless either way requires kernel work as the init.rc needs to be edited -which is an easy task for those who can work with source
Anyways, goodluck the more options the better...there will definitely be people wanting this as its unique for the infuse
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, if I wouldn't have owned a captivate, I wouldn't know about all of this, and I wouldn't even attempt this. And yes, I'm talking about a port of a port. I'm by no means a dev, but I'm slowly learning, and I thank you for your help.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Since I've never seen a captivate port for us...here's a sense Rom for the galaxy s...galaxy s is the device we port most of our Roms for
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1593939
Idk how that compares stability wise as it seems to have some fairly big bugs (WiFi) anyways...that's just another option
