So every now and then (usually every 5-10 minutes) my android.process.acore goes rogue and doesn't allow me to access my messages or my dialer. My messaging apps (chomp sms and stock app) force close when I try to open them. I occasionally get the android.process.acore has stopped error, but not too often. I've done factory resets (with and without restoring data), clearing contacts and contacts storage, wiping cache, and fixing permissions. The one thing that does work is opening the contacts app and then killing it through the stock task manager. I'm thinking I may have a corrupt contact or something. Any ideas on how I can permanently fix this? My phone info is in my signature. Thanks!

Anyone? I think I narrowed the problem down to linked contacts, maybe one number is put in twice for two different people and that could be causing the reading errors.

Yep I redownloaded, reflashed, and wiped data. It has to be something going haywire with one of my contacts, I just have to figure out what it is. If i kill contacts once it happens the problem goes away for a few minutes then returns

Here's a logcat of me opening Chomp SMS and it force closing as a result of the error. It black screens in the process as well
This is a bit of a bump but i just tried wiping contacts storage again and having no one's number in my phone at all (sync off) and the problem still occurs. But still the issue can be resolved by killing contacts even when nothing is in it at all.
Edit: it also occurs in safe mode, how would I determine if i have a corrupt contact?

Did you try the new apk that i uploaded, which all you need to do is go into a file manager click on it and install it. After I saw the update and posted the first apk, I found HTC had the apk on their website.

This kernel is available inside Viper Hub for download. I see many prefer this kernel over Beastmode. My question is- it's a direct download and install inside the Hub.
It offers install option and then prompts an obvious warning about possible bootloops etc. Have any of you installed it from Viper Hub ? I've already made a recovery of my current setup. Just wanting to see if the kernel install goes smoothly. Viper's faq section says it doesn't use ramdisk properties so it can be installed easily.
I'm just making sure before I click the install button and possibly spit up my egg nog if I bootlooped.
Thanks in advance,

Pretty new to the kernel world but I read up before changing mine.
I installed ElementalX and it installed successfully, rebooted and all was fine. However, when I looked on SetCPU for info, it still showed 1512. When I looked in Viper Hub under CPU, it wouldn't go past 1512 (not using both CPU apps at the same time obviously). It also had custom kernel portions greyed out.
What am I missing here?! I set everything to default when I went through the kernel installer as well with 1.7 as default. Shouldn't I be able to see statistically that the options ElementalX should be providing?
Any education here is appreciated!

no bro you can... I'm not sure though since I haven't used viper in a while and I'm on old hboot... But the problems some people been having with custom kernels is that they use aroma installer..
See what happens is, aroma starts, and gives you options on how much overclock you want, tweaks, S2W, etc etc... It creates a boot.img based on your choices... Lemme download viper, I'll pull my boot.img for you so you can do it through flashgui. Sounds good?
If so, how high you want your max freq to be?

I am on 2.4.0. I installed ElementalX through the Venom Hub. I went through all the installation selections and used default for most (chose not to have s2w) and I rebooted through twrp. When I checked everything, there was no evidence the kernel installed!! Still says Linux kernel, can't clock over 1512 either. I'm on firmware version
2.20.

Guys, wondering if someone could help me. Have a new HTC One XL (Telstra edition).
I have unlocked using HTC dev and have TWRP installed.
I did a complete wipe, loaded the UNOFFICIAL CyanogenMod 10.1 for HTC One XL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064621) via TWRP, flashed the boot image.
Now, the system is booting up, but the screen isn't registering (i.e. any touch of the pad doesn't yeild any result). The power button works, the sound buttons work, but no touch. I know the touchscreen isn't the issue, because it is fine when using TWRP. Any suggestions?

Why are you so sure of that? Because more people will be affected, and therefore devs will be more motivated to solve this issue?
Other than that, I don't see how the AT&T OTA will help in any way. But maybe I'm missing the point here.

I flashed cyanogen rom (4.2.2) and through the set up it rebooted.
I wiped every thing before I installed CM.

I don't think it's a hardware issue. You could try a stock ROM or an RUU to see if the problem is fixed. Try clearing the cache and data from the phone app and see if that fixes it.

Before installing CM10, I cleared the cache and date, rest to factory and wiped dalvik cache. I always flash roms on my oneX and DHD but never experienced this problem.
I noticed something, after booting in CM10 for the first time, the prior venom wallpaper was there which was awkward...
could be this the recovery? Im currently using CWM flashed directly from play store.

Hmm...I am running out of ideas. I think you need to somehow re-install the phone.apk, but this is coming from a semi-noob. You might need a pro to help you on this.

The bulletproof kernels are a solid choice.
I also remember 5.4 as being a particularly stable release.

I was on 5.4 for about 2 months and then recently upgraded to 6.6 and no problems to speak of.
What do you mean 'does not work for you'? What happens when you install it? I'm assuming you are flashing the boot.img since you are S-On.

Also, check the message...ls it com.android.process.acore or com.android.process.phone?

Yes flashing back to 5.4 fixes the fc issues. Sorry for the confusion on the message. I've been working long hours lately. It is the second one mentioned above. Is it possible that even though I'm on the earlier hboot that i still need to be s-off because of the newer versions of kernels? Thanks for your time looking in to this issue.
S-off would make no difference with kernels. It would make more sense for your hboot version is causing it. Hard to say for sure without testing though. You did check md5 prior to flashing right?

Ok I'd suggest you try using the RUU then, but you'll need to diagnose why it isn't connecting properly via usb first, the last thing you want is for it to disconnect half way through the RUU process.
PS. I understand you're frustrated, but profanity isn't allowed on XDA.

And what is this wierd N in a square by my 4G?
Weird N = NFC. Unfortunately Samsung's had that for a while, and I think Sony and LG have to have that in their notification bar as well. It just means your NFC is toggled on.
Which is a real shame. NFC barely takes any battery power (unless you're back-to-back with another ICS+ NFC phone 24/7) and should always be kept on. Sucks that more space is wasted to the notification bar just to notify you that it's ready for action.

Hang on, ViperX or ViperXL? You have the Evita, if you flash ViperX you'll brick your phone.
You need to remember your phone IS NOT the HTC One X, it's the HTC One XL / AT&T One X.
Only ever download ROMs from our device forum which is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
The development sections are here and here.
Don't ever stray from our forum.

Were you on an old version of TWRP? Because TWRP 2.5 was known to always fail flashing ViperXL and other ROMs (CleanROM and others). More recent versions of TWRP (2.6) work fine. So it may have been the fact that you had to re-install TWRP that made the difference.
