[Q] Kind of awkward problem i have here. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm pretty new to the rooting and flashing and such.
Two weeks ago I tried rooting my device but it didn't quite work out due to my phone driver not working well. I think the first 2 parts of the rooting succeeded?
So since it wouldn't work and I decided to give up. I just did a factory reset on my phone thinking it would get rid of everything I did that day.
So today I tried playing games released by the company "Line" (Line Play/Line Pop). Turns out it says my device is abnormal/not genuine/installed with software that make affect environment and security. Basically calling it a rooted device. I installed the Root Checker apps and they said my device is fine. So I was thinking.. what could be the cause of this and how should I fix this? Should I use odin and format with a clean wipe stock image?
Help a brother out and thanks for reading!!

I read some reviews of the game and it looks like it is bugged. It dislikes the galaxy s3 after the last game update. I assume you should be fine and it's not a root problem.

Oops I was wrong it is because of root. If you Odin back to a unrooted and locked bootloader it should fix your issue. Or if you are not rooted try to lock your bootloader. That might be a quicker fix.

[Q] flash stock without counter

i've been reading around. and i understand how to root, install cwm, rom, kernel and everything...
but what happens if i need to return my phone for warranty?
can i flash back to stock without tripping the counter?
do they even check the counter?
could i just send it in with the rom on it?
I was in the same boat. My G2 started making crackling noise..this was before I rooted but it went away so I rooted and then of course the noise came back.
My counter was at 2 as I had flashed back to stock with ODIN twice. I think there are ways to get it back without the counter being tripped but I could be very wrong.
Anyways, I took it back the other day and they accepted it no questions asked and handed over a new device. I'm just curious to see what Samsung will do when it gets to them and they see that I had flashed twice...time will tell I guess.. but if the retail outlet (Rogers in this case) takes it and doesn't check it does it become their problem if Samsung turns down the replacement? Not sure...

I've also had others tell me they had taken in phones that were rooted, running custom ROMS and they got exchanges. In my opinion getting back to stock and then taking it in might be the best idea but I'm no expert...just my opinion...

[Q] upgrading to ICS

Hi,
I just got another xoom. It has HC 3.2.1. I tried to upgrade using system updates. However, it says I am up to date....
Which xoom do you have?
its the verizon...3g i believe.
Verizons ota updates haven't released ics yet. You will have to to root and install a custom rom.
is there a tool which makes it somewhat easier to root?
How do I find which model ihave? It only says xoom....
I wouldn't be the person to ask on that, sorry. However this is the instructions I used to root mine, and they worked GREAT.

Make sure you read them a few times to become comfortable before attempting it. You can also check out a few of the other guides to see if you can find one you are more comfortable with.
It seems intimidating at first, most of my problem was getting all the up to date software on my computer, the actual process it self was pretty painless.
Good Luck it will be worht it.

does it say verizon in the upper right corner?
it does say verizon...i called motorola...its a mz600.
Well then, there you go, if you want ics, you will need to root your xoom, or wait til verizon releases it.
Hint...
Wipe, Wipe, Wipe.. Factory Reset Just did an MZ604 and had issues cause I didn't follow the instructions....
Best, E
Check this out.

Unroot

Has anyone successfully un-rooted a 7" tab 2?
I see lots of info for the 10.1 but before I jump in, I want to know my exit options.
Cheers!

Are you kidding?
To "unroot" you simply need to delete the files that are granting you "root" access, normally SuperUser.apk and the su binary as well.
If you are rooted then you have the level of access needed to be able to do that.
There's basically no reason to "unroot" after rooting though. This isn't like an iOS "jailbreak" type setup, "just" rooting on its own is a matter of installing a handful of files.

Forgot to mention, there are several other methods for doing various kinds of restores on this device.
Absolute worst case, you can flash the stock firmware back on using Odin.
Why would you want to do this?
Yeah there is. But post questions in the QnA section of our forums. Triangle away will reset binary counter. Then Odin a stock Rom.
Questions should be posted in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

I've been having issues with Wi-Fi staying connected to either home or work networks and have to reboot the phone to get them to connect
I have just yesterday got a replacement phone from AT&T after getting bitten by that boot loop found on certain models. Oddly, it took about a year to manifest. I now have LG 810, with Android 6.0 preinstalled, and updated shortly thereafter to H81022b software. So far, it's been okay, but with all my apps and data gone (I did not root the earlier model, out of fear it would brick my very expensive phone) I haven't done much. I am considering rooting it, but ... I need to make sure it will work right. So far though, the phone has not been acting weird, so it's good, I guess?

You wont be able to root your device as you cannot downgrade from latest firmware.
I read some where on XDAdevelopers (I wish I could find it to post the shortcut), that any phone, you can get the image from your phone then add root to that, and finally flash the new image back on your phone. Is anybody familiar with this? I have read so much looking for away to put root onto my phone, even if it means flashing a rom onto it and then rooting. Or the rom comes with root.
H81022B
I have been reading for well over a couple of months, waiting and hoping there is even a lengthy method I could use.
Hey! Did you ever get your phone rooted? Because I have the h81022f. I think I've got a general understanding of what I'm going to have to do but I need to make sure that that last letter they add on there doesn't change a step or add or subtract something through the method of having to root it.

I had my phone repaired because of the bootloop and when they sent it back to me they had installed 6.0. I followed the LG UP instructions to DOWNGRADE back to 5.0, worked perfectly. If I can find the specific post I'll link it here. But should be rather easy to find, but haven't really been in this forum for a bit.
EDIT: I think this is what I did, under the section titled TO GO BACK TO LP FROM MM

Has anyone tried this root method for Sprint GS8?

Hi,
Has anyone tried the root method in the link below? Does it work for sprint? Is it really the easiest method? I recently bought the GS8 and am looking for the easiest/cleanest way to root, just to use Wifi Tether. Not interested in ROM, just stock.
https://www.androidinfotech.com/2017/05/root-samsung-galaxy-s8-sprint-sm-g950u-nougat.html
Thanks in advance
I would not ever attempt any method that is posted by a click-bait site like this. Just the fact that it still refers to the "AP" field of Odin as "PDA" serves as a red flag that this method has likely been copy-pasted from a very outdated method.
I just came from a Blackberry Keyone, which has a hardware root of trust, which means it is literally unrootable (hence "World's most secure Android") - yet whenever I would Google "root bb keyone" just for the hell of it, I would always see posts like the one you have linked to that just copy-pasted methods for other devices. Don't trust these sites.
These are currently your best options:

or

I highly doubt that if there was a method as basic as CFroot that the people who discovered these methods would have wasted so much of their time figuring it out. Good luck!

FYI proceed with caution! I attempted to root my phone the other day and bricked my device (you will see my post in this forum). I was not running Odin as admin, which is a very stupid mistake, but goes to show that the smallest slip-up can lead to very big problems. Rooting is not as easy as it used to be since our bootloader is not unlocked. Really make sure you know what you are doing before attempting to root this device.
