H81022b Update - AT&T LG G4

Need help, did somebody revive this update? If someone know about it please tell me what's new on it.

I just received a notification about a new update today. I'm not doing it until know what's in it.

It appears to be a security update

I've been having issues with Wi-Fi staying connected to either home or work networks and have to reboot the phone to get them to connect

I have just yesterday got a replacement phone from AT&T after getting bitten by that boot loop found on certain models. Oddly, it took about a year to manifest. I now have LG 810, with Android 6.0 preinstalled, and updated shortly thereafter to H81022b software. So far, it's been okay, but with all my apps and data gone (I did not root the earlier model, out of fear it would brick my very expensive phone) I haven't done much. I am considering rooting it, but ... I need to make sure it will work right. So far though, the phone has not been acting weird, so it's good, I guess?

You wont be able to root your device as you cannot downgrade from latest firmware.

I read some where on XDAdevelopers (I wish I could find it to post the shortcut), that any phone, you can get the image from your phone then add root to that, and finally flash the new image back on your phone. Is anybody familiar with this? I have read so much looking for away to put root onto my phone, even if it means flashing a rom onto it and then rooting. Or the rom comes with root.
H81022B
I have been reading for well over a couple of months, waiting and hoping there is even a lengthy method I could use.

Hey! Did you ever get your phone rooted? Because I have the h81022f. I think I've got a general understanding of what I'm going to have to do but I need to make sure that that last letter they add on there doesn't change a step or add or subtract something through the method of having to root it.

I had my phone repaired because of the bootloop and when they sent it back to me they had installed 6.0. I followed the LG UP instructions to DOWNGRADE back to 5.0, worked perfectly. If I can find the specific post I'll link it here. But should be rather easy to find, but haven't really been in this forum for a bit.
EDIT: I think this is what I did, under the section titled TO GO BACK TO LP FROM MM

[Q] Development for LG-LS860

I have a LG Mach (AKA Cayenne, LS860) LG Apparently algo named the LU3000 "Mach" as well for w/e reason. There is a distinct lack of ANYbody developing for this phone. I would like to take on doing it myself, but I am unclear on how to start. I managed after about a week to root the stock rom, but I can't find any recoveries for it. How should I go about this?
I understand that this is a very in depth question and for most, it would be too much to tackle. However, I have a background in C++ and Visual Basic (though I am a little rusty). Any direction would be nice and I am willing and capable of learning anything necessary to accomplish this.
Thanks!
Well this is a combination of bump / information. Since there is a lack of information regarding this phone out here, I figured I would share the method I used to root this phone. It works on the stock 4.0.4 rom.

I was thinking about compiling TWRP for this phone myself, but I would like input from everyone if CWM would be a better choice? Input welcome

I just won this phone, and I'm putting the term LG MACH ROOT/LG MACH BOOTLOADER in this thread so people can find it via google.
There is pretty much no developer love for this phone...
I don't care which way you do it. Personally I prefer TWRP because of it's touch controls.

Well, it looks like its up to me and you:
Im going to compile TWRP tonight for it, and if all goes well, I will create a new thread with the rooting method and recovery explained. However, know that you will officially be person #2 to use this recovery image. All warnings and potential problems will apply.
Up for some fun?
I haven't got the phone yet actually. Briefmobile informed that I won and that sprint will ship it. I don't know anything more than that :/ I hope soon. It'd be fun to mess with the phone while my college break is going on still.
Sorry about the really slow replies. I should subscribe so that tapatalk notifies me.
I don't know when it will get here :/
But since you have it, do you know if the bootloader is unlocked/unlockable? Google is surprisingly of little use with this phone. I'd love to dink around with this phone since it's not my primary one (and I can't use cellular services on it)

All good, it takes time to develop these things anyways. I should have a stable TWRP build within a few days, and a CyanogenMod 10.1 (Android 4.2) build complete in the next couple of weeks.
The bootloader is something I am going to tackle tonight. As you can tell, there is zero documentation on the web for this device. In fact, it received more attention when it was a concept than it does now. So for now, I have no answer on the bootloader. I hope so, or all my work is useless lol. However, root is obtained at a bare minimum
Anyone out there that comes across this thread that wants to find information on modding this phone, PLEASE post your interest here. Trust me, you won't find any other resources.
lg locked bootloaders
I have the lg motion, I don't know how close it is to the mach but I've been following a thread for several months that has been trying to figure out a workaround for the locked boot loader. Google all things root guide for lg motion and you might be able to find a decent starting point for your phones maybe even help them figure out the motion
Ok, well I think, for now at least, root is all we are getting . I have managed to develop and compile ClockworkMod Recovery TeamWin Recovery, and Cyanogenmod 10.1 for it, but realized after all that work that the bootloader is not only locked, but also signed with a digitally encrypted key. Basically in laymans terms: We are ****ed. So, if anybody manages to shmooze either Sprint or LG out of these unlock codes, let me know and I'll provide everything else. Otherwise, anything I have made will brick every LS860 it goes on. Sorry guys.
Oh boy is like Motorola all over again... So no flashing recoveries even?

Thats correct. At least from my understanding. I could be wrong, but without the ability to unlock the bootloader i dont want to try flashing recovery. Too risky for me. Ill give anyone who wants to try my twrp build but i wont accept any repercussion for it doing anythin negative
Give me your twrp build then
I just rooted it. Was super easy.
Tried adb reboot bootloader. Did nothing. Tried adb reboot recovery. Recovered the device. Can't seem to figure out a way to have it download software. (like nvflash) Wonder if there's a special cable...

So I already bricked two, lol. Not going for a third. I really wanna root this phone. I went as far as getting the firmware which is a cab file. But then I guess you have to convert that to a kdz file. Then decrypt the kdz file. Well it appears you need to be an LG Service tech to use the program. Was hoping there was work around for all this,

I rooted it, it was easy using the sony tool that does the adb backup remount bug, but that's as far as I got. I uninstalled a bunch of crap off of the system partition and its a lot faster now, too bad I can't get that activation screen to go away.
Just pulled the newest OTA. I found it in /cache. I tried to get the URL but instead I made it so it no longer sees there's an update... I have the zip file however, and inside of it there is patches to just about everything in system, and updates to magazines, chrome, and LGBookmarksProvider.
There's also a command to install a recovery image:
#!/system/bin/sh
/sbin/write_recovery /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Not sure if it's a good idea to flash that... forgot that it's still locked bootloader
EDIT: Finally figured out download mode... I just held all the buttons down when starting it and voila, it's there. I also hear you can use the LG Software update tool to flash back to stock, so we might finally have root that's safe
Does anyone have the BooksTablet.apk found in /system/app? I'm not sure why but it won't install the update cause the sha1 of that file fails I don't know where to find it.
Dont let this thread die! I noticed there was no dedicated forum for the LS860 development, I really enjoy this phone and would love some level of development for it. I can help as much as I am able.

Can someone rip me their BooksTablet.apk and BooksTablet.odex from their LS860 and PM me a link to it? I really am pissed off at the update prompt (I'm not sure why it's not working, I haven't touched it and I made sure I backed everything up... It won't validate BooksTablet.apk) I'm on the stock original version of the software ZV6 or something... not the ZV7.
I really don't want to go into sprint that much, though I might have to do that soon.
Edit: Just called sprint. They won't do anything for me and I'm not going to pay money for someone to reflash my phone. It's pretty ridiculous how factory images for devices aren't released. You know how many issues this would solve? That's why nexus devices are great. They're practically unbrickable.
Hey guys, try posting the mach in here so maybe it can get a forum for it.... And possibly some development.

AT&T D800 10q Update

Anyone get this yet?
Someone that gets the update notification AND is rooted.. can you pull the update zip and send it to me?
This needs to be done BEFORE you run the update.
File should be in the /cache partition.
Need to know if root changed.. also wanna see if they blocked the loki exploit. Thx :good:
I ws at work today with no WiFi on, and when I pulled the phone out of my pocket this update had already applied itself. I have knock knock on so that could have allowed my nether regions to authorize the update. Anywho, if I can still safely use lg flash tool to go back to 80010d then I can flash back and see if the server will push 10q again. Nothing in stone but it be nice to have some clue from someone with greater understanding if i can flash back to 10d without creating problems from this new update. The AT&T variants have Carrier IQ installed. Is it possible LG is aware of my flashing back and forth from Cymod to stock and forced the update without a prerequisite consent toast popup?

you can certainly downgrade back to 10d using LG Flash without causing issues. That may not ALWAYS be the case with future OTA updates but LG has not yet enforced "anti-rollback"
As for the update being installed.. I have read that you can only delay the update install so many times.. but after a certain amount of time the update is forced. Now I've only read this and can't say from first hand experience.. but maybe thats what happened to you. If that is the case and updates are being forced after a set time.. the only way to get around the update would be to freeze or remove the apk responsible for updates.. not even sure which apk is responsible offhand.
HERE's the link to where I read about the update.
"You can delay the update up to three times for four hours each time. After the fourth delay, the update will automatically get installed on the phone."
The fact that it auto installs at all is worrisome
Thanks for that. The responses in your link indicate they were not asked permission explicitly to apply the update. The fact that this, "paves the way for future updates," worries me that the bootloader has changed. I can confirm the radio has not. I work odd hours. When I'm off in the AM I'll see if i can't warm up LG Flash Tools and revert to 10d from download mode. If so I'll see whats up with root and pulling the update. Considering multiple sources are stating there was no confirmation it gives me a hunch this may have something to do with patching loki exoloit, though I have no emperical evidence of prior statement.
Soooo, if you Google "lg d80010q" there are three entries now. One of which is this
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/agent_phonesw_notice_list.jsp?country=US
Not being a deepweb database expert I wonder if this might allow the update to be retrieved directly from LG.

nope just notifies LG service centers whats newly available.
Was running stock. Used LGFlashTool to go back to 10d and 10o and can't get the server to push the update even after trying to check for it from both cellular data and several different IP's while on WiFi. No dice. Software update 10q simply hasn't come to me yet. Out of time and energy at the moment. Sorry.
This update put my phone into a recovery loop and was unusable. I finally got it back to stock and about 48 hours later it just updated itself . There is barely any warning, a box pops up saying its updating and it does it! I dont like this at all ,any update should require some kind of approval from the user . But at least my phone runs great now!
Anyone with new "q" update....can you confirm that root works? I got stuck in bootloop when it installed and ended up restoring nandroid backup before I fixed it so i'm still on "o" for now.
Thanks,
The other afternoon I was busy pecking away at my laptop with my phone on the charger. All of the sudden my phone has the pretty blue sky over a green, grassy field and it's updating! I did not have the device on WiFi and I did not confirm this update. This update is being forced upon us AT&T users without any confirmation. I suppose it's small size and their over confidence in SHA/CRC checks make them think installing an update loaded over a cellular connection is a good idea. Heck, at least this is rumored to be paving the way for some official form of KitKat. The folks that work on this phone and produce such things as Cyanogenmod and other Android Remixes are amazing! I simply like the clip tray, knock-knock, my back LED working and better bench numbers to much to be swayed from stock. That is just my preference. Y'all still rock chicks off socks with the "ROMs"!

d80010o isnt part of the command. it starts at "adb"
I got this update few days ago.. I was rooted on "d", it went to "o" after i postponed it 4 times, and it went to "q" automatically without asking.
I use pattern as my screen lock, at random times, phone will reboot from AT&T logo.. it's very annoying, and i'm not sure what to do about it.. I can go back to "d" but ATT will eventually update it.
Anyone get TWRP to install after root on this? I used FreeGee with mine. Says installed successfully, but TWRP app is nowhere to be found.
Also, Root Browser never asks for SU access, as the other root apps do, and the apps I can supposedly safely remove are not in the /system/app folder. Very confused now.
---------- Post added at 05:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ----------
Root. Checker and terminal emulater both show me to have root access.
However root explorer doesn't show any of the apps that are supposed to be safe to remove, and it never asks for su permission like the other root apps do.
Also there is no/ system/apps folder. There is only/ system/app. Are these folders hidden somehow?

My phone tried to install this automatically with root the other day, and soft-bricked... Had to delete the files via adb and got back in relatively scot-free. Anyway apparently there is actually a 4.4 update being pushed right now for the d800. I would go for it but I am still rooted and would like to keep my root... And am also waiting for Aospa so I may let it settle before I jump in

Bootloader Unlock and 6.0 Flashing Progress.

Iv started this thread to get talking about unlocking the bootloader and a proven flashing method for 6.0. @LGMONO and @ZVNexus are working on root for a 6.0 tot, if it its authenticated. But, we still need a method for unlocking the bootloader, aswell as a stable way to flash the tot so we can back up and gain root. So for these cases, anyone have a clue where we are at with them?
UPDATE: 3-27-17
So no way for root has been found yet, but its not over. Android 7.0 Nougat has been confirmed for the LGV10 and we are supposed to have it by the end of this month so realistically, I say sometime next month. Now hopefully they will ease up on the restrictions in 7.0. But i have found something interesting with 6.0 on the v10. I tried to install Stump.apk (a root-kit app) and android warned me that the app contains code that tried to alter android or something like that. Anyways, so my guess that a new way might be possible to gain root access. If you can force an app to change its code after being installed, that might work... If it can even work like that. They have over hauled the security on the v10, so atleast your stuff is relatively safe if you do your part.
For now, im gonna start talking to people to see if maybe lg or at&t would consider removing their block once a phone has gone out of warranty. Im on lease for mine so I can kinda understand why they dont want it modified, but if i pay it off or out right, i should have the right to do as i wish for it, so im gonna try to talk with them about that.
UPDATE:
After looking around, some people found success of downgrading to 5.0 or 5.1 with LGUP on the g4. Now it didnt say it was carrier specific, but, if its not, then im beginning to wonder where the problem of just flashing a tot really is on the v10.

We are pretty close. This is pretty weird though, when I open boot.img on the Marshmallow TOT, it refuses to open the archive, and fails. The boot.img on the 5.1.1 TOT does not have this problem however and opens just fine. This is strange and it is risky to flash not knowing if it might work. If only I had extra phones to test this lol

It might be as simple as just a broken boot.img. im not 100%, but i dont think there is any signitures of authenticity in the boot.img, so you might could use a different one. I have a copy of the 6.0 TOT. Later ill go try to unpack the boot.img and see what i can find.

We would have to use the boot.img from a 6.0 AT&T LG V10 Though, because of Anti-TOT Rollback. Changing the boot.img with one from 5.1..1 would screw that up I think.

Its not that the phone is dead, its just that the majority of the people who bought this phone did not buy it to root or anything. They bought it because of the camera. Anyone else would have bought a LG G4, G5, or a Samsung Note. All of those are VERY good options if you want to root.

I mean, its not that bad. Right now without root you can still customize your phone to a extent. You can use a program to disable (NOT REMOVE) any programs you want, so all AT&T bloat doesn't show on my app drawer anymore, same with any LG apps. A nice wallpaper, Nova, a icon pack, and it looks pretty fine and dandy! Right now I have about 4 months left and then I can get a new phone. Not too bad. Was thinking about the new Nexus lineup.

I've never owned a phone that was so locked down that we can't unlock the bootloader, root or anything. It's maddening. I should have done better research; if I had, I would have found that the "root" we had for 5.1.1 was only temporary and there was no unlocked bootloader.
Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!
Finally LG has released a new software update (Build H90021w) for the AT&T LG V10 H900 phone.
Maybe root is nearby

Its possible. The kdz they released could give us a custom TOT. The we just have to figure out how to flash it.
Update
You can view the update in the original post.
I like this phone but need root. This phone on At&T seems dead for development after a year. Just bought an OnePlus 3t 128g with delivery today. That phone has development. ROOT! Goodbye V10.

How to root after updating to 6.0 OTA (6045O)

I recently updated to marshmallow, and am currently trying everything to root it. I have done everything from trying to unlock bootloader in fastboot, to using apps such as kingroot and framaroot.... to no avail... can anyone help? It would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!
I know you can't really do anything using MM, but can anyone help me flash stock firmware on my device? (I AM USING LINUX!!) I tried running the windows programs with wine.... Did not work...
Dropped my previous 6045O, Cricket variant on its screen on a bunch of gravel and cracked the screen. Since I am a klutz, I had taken out the insurance/phone replacement with Asurion. Received my replacement, and discovered it was loaded with MM, only, as others have noted, the fastboot commands are not there....
I've tried all the methods folks have offered, and, apparently Cricket is in collusion with Alcatel not to make it merely difficult to root and administer (worked entirely too many tech-support gigs... the uninformed tend to screw things up even with documentation), but to make it, seemingly at present, impossible. I'm stuck, and none of the previous methods have worked. (and, yes, I've read every applicable thread I see... at this point, nothing seems to work to root the beast. Since the ability's there by default to shove the apps that will allow themselves to be shoved to my 32GB SD.... that gets rid of my need for Link2SD, until the gentleman, Bulent Akpinar, gets around to recognizing that Marshmallow's been out a while. (paid for the Plus, and completely unusable, even as a widget, with the new Cricket variant of 6.0.1
I've tried the ROOT .rar, our other gentleman's Suite, and the various methods, and at this point, I'm just kinda lost.

Nobody searches the forums anymore ,it has been discussed in depth in many threads, you need to downgrade using eluga switch firmware to get back unlocked bootloader n fastboot, then install TWRP and then you can pick whatever rom you like... If you want stock MM with TWRP use the marionettes v1 MM rom, you loose LTE after using Eluga so you need to fix that also I have posted this link several times read all the threads attached and you will get there

Actually I did search before posting my comment, and I have the Eluga executable... after expanding it and trying to do the deed, it doesn't see the phone... I've got the OEM unlocking enabled in the Dev. options on my device...
I admit, though, I may not be doing something correctly, and will try it again.
--- edit ---
Silly me... didn't remember I had to have the phone off... for that matter, since it was a while ago that I rooted the previous one, and that it was running Lollipop 5.0.2, I didn't have to jump through as many hoops as with 6.0.1... Alcatel and Cricket don't make it impossible to do with this phone, as Cricket seems to specify with the ZTE device, and the LG Stylo... Just difficult, but not impossible. Working on it as we speak, and will respond in a bit.
BTW... was a little snarky that no one reads the columns... I obviously missed a few things, but I have read... just sayin'...

Is the phone off? You must have phone off so it can go into download mode.

Been referring to Alek Dev's (and others') instructions, have booted into the Panasonic rom, in the process of erasing, and will flash the rest going forward.
Thanks for the links, and I admit a "Doh!" about how to go into download mode... a few devices I'm kinda maintaining around here, and each seems to have a different button process to get there.
Thanks again, and I think I've got it from this point (with multiple tabs up in my browser for reference, of course...)

Sorry, if I seemed rude, been dealing with a few foster children, who want to push every button I have, lol teens.... was just in vent mode I guess....
No need to downgrade to LP, use Alcatel Flasher to flash twrp
Look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/development/tool-sahara-firehose-test-alcatel-t3454855
install twrp and roo with supersu.zip. That all.

Isn't that still in beta status as test only? The dev has discontinued development?? I have never tried it as I believed it was just still conceptual... I will look into it further..... Was flashing ever implemented??

No, it's not a test, it work. You can read/write boot and recovery on 6039, 6045 and 6055 for all variants
Look at new howto made by decker.su: http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-4s/help/howto-idol-4-6055-installing-twrp-t3486077
You Just have to choose "6045" in the app and twrp recovery for 6045
I used the Panasonic eluga software lol.... That program didn't work for me at all...

Explanation: LG V10: Reasons why I vanished:

Some time ago, in the middle of the night I woke up to see my V10 bootlooping, and it was next to almost stock. and I never mess with my v10 cause my htc10 is my daily Driver....
after talking to T-Mobile and and then LG, I got LG to pay for everything including shipping. because my device was babied to death, it was like mint condition, so instead of making me wait for a new board
and so on, They sent me a whole new V10, that was manufactured only a few months prior, which came with updated everything.. So to make a long story short. I have no ROOT.. and no way to get ROOT..
I have Android N on my device...........
Now if I ever figure out how to get root again, I will then pick up where I left off on this device.................
I am one of the owners of the new Project that I personally started some time ago, called PureFusionOS..... we are on 5 devices. officially on HTC10 and OP3 and OP5................
and some how a mediatek device which I still cant figure out how he did that........
anyhow.. With my new found knowledge of ROMs and so on, I am sure of I ever get this device rooted again, I can get a custom rom working on this device with Camera working.........
my knowlege with camera has increased much do to the fact of the issues I went through on the HTC10 to get 4k recording working.........
But will any of this truely happen, as I said, it all depends on if I get ROOT again on this device........... I am running 100% stock Android N ....................
But I wanted to let you know what happen to me.. and why I havent been able to do anything.........................
I do have some ideas on getting root, but I highly doubt they will work.. What I prob need is a rooted TOT file with latest ROM.........
What are the options of downgrading? Acquiring root and then updating?

It is bnot possible to downgrade from Nougat to MM on rhe H901, i've tried and it does'nt work. The bootloader can be unlocked but that is as far as it goes at the moment. As stated by Eliminator there is no root yet for this phone.

Hi i'm new to the V10 h901 game, i have been reading a lot lately this forum ,can you explain more the situation? what Eliminator is saying means no twrp of the ones posted here will work for the H901 in nougat?, mine came with Mashmallow but i flashed Nougat with lg bridge before reading, i guess im stuck now? i unlocked the bootloader today hoping to flash one of those recoveries but "fastboot boot twrp.img" didnt work so i didnt flashed it hoping to get more information on the subject here.
So I was on a rooted MM Rom, maybe even yours, and used this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3638750 to update to N and kept root. Are there any files I could pull from mine that would help?

Not a single thing.. Problem is my device came back with N already on it.. so there is no way to ROOT it at this time.. and its not really high on my list to worry about it.
if I dont root it, no big deal......
No root for N so far. I soft bricked my device, and the only way to get it back was with LG Bridge, and now I'm stuck with stock N firmware. So, we need to hope and wait for someone clever than us to find a way to root V10 with stock N.
If it helps, we can trade devices. Mine is on the latest, rooted and I am going to sell mine. Not much extra value in selling a rooted device. So pm me and we can cross ship. Your device for mine. I'll sell yours on swappa....and you have a rooted device to Dev for the community moving forward. It would be awesome if you could put your new OS on the V10

I would be down for a swap. Yes, please!
I got the terrible Green Screen Of Death. My replacement came Nougat out of the box. Sadness.
What do you recommend? Should I make a post here? In General thread? At Swappa? Ebay?
Well this seemed really promising and then ironically the person I suspected would drop either a LineageOS build (which I would love, just plain old LineageOS with no major changes or frills for the V10, second screen I don't even give a damn about really, a kernel with a lot of governor support/options would be great too, and here's a Nougat from the factory device he can't even work with, great.
And with nobody really giving a damn about the V10 overall we are probably just going to be stuck at this point from now on, sadly.
Maybe we'll get a small miracle at some point, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thank you, Eliminater74, for at least letting the community know you're still around and might still be able to provide some magic if things work out.
Try modified LG up as a path to downgrade.... I'm on nougat flashed with TWRP so I never went through the steps to modify LG up. I really think it can work to get back down to 6.0 use dirtycow get TWRP then install the nougat update zip..... I know another person interested in the root of the 7.0 locked firmware going back to 6 had pointed in this direction.....
