Has anyone successfully un-rooted a 7" tab 2?
I see lots of info for the 10.1 but before I jump in, I want to know my exit options.
Cheers!

Are you kidding?
To "unroot" you simply need to delete the files that are granting you "root" access, normally SuperUser.apk and the su binary as well.
If you are rooted then you have the level of access needed to be able to do that.
There's basically no reason to "unroot" after rooting though. This isn't like an iOS "jailbreak" type setup, "just" rooting on its own is a matter of installing a handful of files.

Forgot to mention, there are several other methods for doing various kinds of restores on this device.
Absolute worst case, you can flash the stock firmware back on using Odin.
Why would you want to do this?
Yeah there is. But post questions in the QnA section of our forums. Triangle away will reset binary counter. Then Odin a stock Rom.
Questions should be posted in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

Hi i recently bought a Samsung s2 and followed the ways of how to root it.
I downloaded Odin and the insecure file
I then pressed the down key home button and power so it downloaded ok
The i went to applications and enabled usb debugging.
When i ran Superoneclick the thing kept on crashing so i downloaded s2 root and it keeps saying
Device already Has PERM ROOT permissions! aborting....
But i do not have Superuser on my phone
Is there something im doing wrong? I've been on it for hours and cant figure it out i watched videos and read all the descriptions of how to root the s2 but am stuck on this
Can someone help please
---------- Post added at 12:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 PM ----------
Also i tried to unroot it then root it again and it keeps doing the same
Crashing in Superoneclick and saying the same message in S2 Root
You can download root checker and see if your phone is indeed rooted:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&feature=search_result
If so, you are missing supervisor.apk, please search the Web for superuser.apk and how to install it. Quite likely you need to use "adb" to install it.
Hope it helps.
Hi,
I just got another xoom. It has HC 3.2.1. I tried to upgrade using system updates. However, it says I am up to date....
Which xoom do you have?
its the verizon...3g i believe.
Verizons ota updates haven't released ics yet. You will have to to root and install a custom rom.
is there a tool which makes it somewhat easier to root?
How do I find which model ihave? It only says xoom....
I wouldn't be the person to ask on that, sorry. However this is the instructions I used to root mine, and they worked GREAT.

Make sure you read them a few times to become comfortable before attempting it. You can also check out a few of the other guides to see if you can find one you are more comfortable with.
It seems intimidating at first, most of my problem was getting all the up to date software on my computer, the actual process it self was pretty painless.
Good Luck it will be worht it.

does it say verizon in the upper right corner?
it does say verizon...i called motorola...its a mz600.
Well then, there you go, if you want ics, you will need to root your xoom, or wait til verizon releases it.
Hint...
Wipe, Wipe, Wipe.. Factory Reset Just did an MZ604 and had issues cause I didn't follow the instructions....
Best, E
Check this out.

I'm pretty new to the rooting and flashing and such.
Two weeks ago I tried rooting my device but it didn't quite work out due to my phone driver not working well. I think the first 2 parts of the rooting succeeded?
So since it wouldn't work and I decided to give up. I just did a factory reset on my phone thinking it would get rid of everything I did that day.
So today I tried playing games released by the company "Line" (Line Play/Line Pop). Turns out it says my device is abnormal/not genuine/installed with software that make affect environment and security. Basically calling it a rooted device. I installed the Root Checker apps and they said my device is fine. So I was thinking.. what could be the cause of this and how should I fix this? Should I use odin and format with a clean wipe stock image?
Help a brother out and thanks for reading!!
I read some reviews of the game and it looks like it is bugged. It dislikes the galaxy s3 after the last game update. I assume you should be fine and it's not a root problem.

Oops I was wrong it is because of root. If you Odin back to a unrooted and locked bootloader it should fix your issue. Or if you are not rooted try to lock your bootloader. That might be a quicker fix.
Ok, if you're an owner of the Hydro Wave model from Kyocera, I think we all can agree that it is a nice phone. Being water proof, shock resistant, and still have decent enough software. However it is a bit buggy. There are a few kinks that need to be worked out. And can we get an OS update for Christ's sake? Had this phone a little over a year, still running 5.1. Glad we got a little bug update the other day!
But the point of this thread is so that we can get together and keep a discussion about the phone, finding new exploits, actually getting a good root, new attributes, abilities updates, whatever. If you are here, than you already know how much of a pain this phone is to research and find out any information on it. Especially when you go to root.
I hope to see you in the comments, maybe I can share a little bit of info with you, and hopefully you can teach me a few things. And please let's keep this a civil thread and stay on subject as much as you can.
What was in the update?
What was in the update?
Not exactly what they did. It said they were fixing a few bugs. But didn't give any explanation and it still runs 5.1
Have you or any one you know managed to get root?
Not for they hydro phone c6740. I've gained root access from KingRoot. But it wouldn't read superuser or BusyBox
Anybody ever give root to work for more than a little while?
---------- Post added at 03:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:53 PM ----------
And if anybody knows how to root please let me know
Yeah let us all knoe please! Or even if you grt super user to work for just a little while. Long enough to flash a custom rom on it or something.
has anyone have a firmware that can be flash through fastboot?
or anyway to do a complete wipe and reinstall the whole software?
I can't believe there is no root method for this phone yet. My 8 year old loves his but it has mass bloatware.

You can delete bloatware... Just use kingroot (no restart), use kingroot (open), has its own tool, image attach.
You must use it with caution and under your responsibility
Is a root temporary, just reset to disable root.

4.3.5
Is there a debloated version of the ROM that you can flash? I'm guessing this phone is never getting a marshmallow update.
Hi,
Has anyone tried the root method in the link below? Does it work for sprint? Is it really the easiest method? I recently bought the GS8 and am looking for the easiest/cleanest way to root, just to use Wifi Tether. Not interested in ROM, just stock.

Thanks in advance
I would not ever attempt any method that is posted by a click-bait site like this. Just the fact that it still refers to the "AP" field of Odin as "PDA" serves as a red flag that this method has likely been copy-pasted from a very outdated method.
I just came from a Blackberry Keyone, which has a hardware root of trust, which means it is literally unrootable (hence "World's most secure Android") - yet whenever I would Google "root bb keyone" just for the hell of it, I would always see posts like the one you have linked to that just copy-pasted methods for other devices. Don't trust these sites.
These are currently your best options:

or

I highly doubt that if there was a method as basic as CFroot that the people who discovered these methods would have wasted so much of their time figuring it out. Good luck!

FYI proceed with caution! I attempted to root my phone the other day and bricked my device (you will see my post in this forum). I was not running Odin as admin, which is a very stupid mistake, but goes to show that the smallest slip-up can lead to very big problems. Rooting is not as easy as it used to be since our bootloader is not unlocked. Really make sure you know what you are doing before attempting to root this device.
