My phone was fine yesterday was running Scottsclean rom for months just fine. I Flashed 2.20 RUU and everything was fine.
I then allowed it to OTA Update and after returning to the phone, I believe its bricked does not light up when plugged in, Nor does it enter the bootloader. I do believe its bricked cause after holding Volume down and power it just enters Download mode.
Any help would be appreciated.

Believe my phones still in warranty. I did successfully re-flash it to 2.20 VIA RUU and relock before attempting to ATO update.
Do you think ill be fine to take it to att ?
That's too bad. ota keeper seems to be hit and miss. S-off folks seem to be OK when they ota. Theoretically you did everything right by RUU. I'd plug it into a wall mount and make sure it has a full charge then try getting it to boot into bootloader. Redpoint put a thread up a public service announcement with statement to this its in the stickies.

Fraud? The cause was the OTA update

In many countries unlocking the boot loader can not void a warranty. Just like installing linux on a computer you bought won't void it. The manufaturer can't just invent escape clauses for when they will or won't cover faulty workmanship. It is like those little stickers that cover some key screw on electronics with "void if broken" are not worth the paper they are printed on.
Workmanship? AT&T blocked bootloader unlocking because of people messing up their phones. This person used an exploit to unlock and root his phone and now wants AT&T to fix the mistake he made by reading half the instructions

The man has a point that's just a disclaimer for them to deny but ultimately outs up to who you are warranting it through via service provider our HTC. And I know many have gotten there device warranted that were unlocked. All were through AT&T though.

I would take it in.. they won't check to to see if it's unlocked... Besides like you said it won't even come on . All you have to say is that you downloaded the update and afterwards it froze up and bricked(obviously you know what you did but they won't) I've been on a couple other threads with HTC one x+ and this seemed to work gl it's worth the try if you think about it. Just don't mention anything like you know about root or flashing anything for that matter lol if they ask about HTCdev unlock say it must be the previous owner lmao
I did this with my inspire awhile back when it first came out and I bricked it second day lmao. Got a new one same day haha stupid att haha

I have a stock ATT OneX 2.20 rooted with TWRP and SuperCid. I've had no luck flashing custom roms so I'm still stock ICS. I've tried the instructions here for turning s-off but no luck. I get through the entire process but still have s-on. Can anyone point me toward better instructions or method of s-off for this phone so I can ota to JB?
Thanks in advance.
Anyone got any idea whether HTC one X(At&t) could be jatgged using USB cable (On riffbox official site they've mentioned that some HTC devices could be JTAGGED using usb, but one x isn't listed. I've got a RIFF BOX JATG, but while i was soldering the RTCK solder pad came off. I wasn't able to figure whether if there's any other place on board where i can solder RTCK cable( Please help if anyone of you has got any idea?)

My wife has a Mytouch 4G slide that has never been rooted and has all the latest updates from T-Mobile. I keep reading conflicting information with regard to whether this is a problem (the whole s-off/s-on thing).
I was thinking of trying out one of the Ice Cream Sandwich Roms. Can I root her phone? Should I root her phone? Is there a link with good current information?
just to sum it up:
with the latest OTA you cannot achieve s-off (yet), however, you can unlock the bootloader and then root and flash recovery and roms using the official htcdev unlocking method (which apparently voids your warranty instantly)

No.
The unlocker is currently broken for (most) people.
It only voids your warranty if any damage results from anything you flash. Flash an OC kernel and burn up your phone, not their fault. Keyboard falls apart due to use, their fault.

there is, but in a sense that info is not 100% current.... those tools won't work if her phone is S-ON with HBOOT 1.45.0013(software version 1.55.531.3).

This is a great question seeing how my mt4gs will be here tomorrow lol.
I'm coming from an htc g2 and have been free from security for awhile! I really want an aosp rom (not a big fan of sense) so this should be interesting!
Been reading up for the last couple of days and the dev support seems a little lacking, but the g2 started to slow as well, though there were plenty of stable roms.

Doesn't matter if it's a hardware or software issue. If you mod your phone in any way, the warranty is void, unless you revert back to stock. Even if it's just a software mod, like a custom rom or kernel.

Incorrect. Read HTC's unlock disclaimer. It will only void the warranty if It's damage you caused by flashing something. Normal hardware issues are still covered as the original warranty would do.

They say that any devices that come to them will be shipped out again with the most recent software on them.
I recently had to send one of mine in, it came back as it was when I sent it out - but the current OTA is on pause so that may be why.
I think at this stage it would be a dice roll...

Well it's better to send it in sooner, rather than later.
Besides, my device wouldn't turn on at all anyway, so I didn't really have a choice.

I don't work for HTC so I can't tell you. Are you paying for service? Or using your warranty? If you're trying to use warranty, it was voided the second the BL was unlocked. You may luck out and they might not check or see it. What's the worst that could happen? They send it back and say they can't service it?
If you bought it from AT&T, return it to AT&T. There have been a bunch of reports by folks on here that have had warranty honored by AT&T even though the bootloader is RELOCKED. And haven't seen any reports of AT&T doing otherwise.

It will always only say RELOCKED. Only way for it to say LOCKED is if the bootloader was never unlocked. Some think the flag can be changed to LOCKED if we get S-Off. RUU will only remove the TAMPERED tag. It will not make it back to LOCKED.

Lol, true that. I hate dealing with these faceless corporations. Everything by the book (their book) and no room for movement. Using a method that they provide voids warranty, unbelievable.
Especially a hardware issue like that obviously has nothing to do with the bootloader.
I say S-OFF the phone, follow the guides to make it look "untampered," then relock and run RUU to get rid of the CID on the bootloader screen. Call them back and say you were mistaken, it was your friends phone you unlocked, not yours. So let's get this warranty process started. That's exactly what I would do in your shoes.

You would think incorrectly. HTC reserves to right, and has, voided warranties for flashing custom ROMs.
Its been discussed on the "international" One X forum, that some folks have had warranty claims denied due to having ever flashed a custom ROM, despite returning to stock. Apparently, they still have some way to tell, even if you RUU to stock. Although they will honor the warranty if the bootloader is unlocked, but a custom ROM never installed. Inconsistent and a bit strange.
But HTC warranty service probably varies a bit by region. So its at least worth a try.

Ya bro, ive had all positive experiances with HTC. Im on my third replacement DNA from them. All free replacements. One cracked screen, one bricked, wouldnt take a charge, or boot, and this 3rd, which im waiting on right now as a matter of fact. fed ex should b here any moment. Flashing a custom rom can cause some hardware issues, so I can understand why HTC wouldn't warrant it.
If I was returning to HTC, I would change the CID back and RUU but leave bootloader unlocked and S-OFF, this way, if they decide to update the software to the latest, you can still flash and whatnot.
I thought you had to relock to run the ruu?

If you're S-OFF you don't need to relock to run an RUU and since S-OFF doesn't actually give full access on the oneXL without an unlocked bootloader, best to just leave them both.

Oh ok. I didn't know that. Probably be sending it off tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have it back in a week.

I hope u do too. My latest repair took 22 days. They messed up on the serial #, and closed my repair ticket once by mistake. Lol. But in the end, i received a brand new device, with rootable firmware. And my prior repairs both took under a week.

One more question. How do I get my cid back to stock? I looked through the stickies and all and didn't see an answer?
