Process is same but in case of lava iris 455, it has got Screen Size 4.5 Inches and Resolution is qHD, 540 x 960 Pixels. Hence CWM Recovery may not work properly with this device because here attached CWM Recovery is for Lava Iris 501 screen size. You may get white screen in recovery mode. Hence I will not suggest to install CWM Recovery given in my post in your device until you have official recovery with you or try to find out a compatible CWM Recovery for your device.

This method is only for LAVA Iris 501 Jellybean 4.1.1
If you have ICS in your phone then first you need to upgrade the firmware of your mobile to Jellybean.

Steps for flashing Recovery using SP Flash Tools:
Install drivers for your phone.
Open the SP Flash Tools(download from moulnisky.com or search in google).
In SP Flash Tools, Click on Scatter-Loading and select the MT6592_Android_scatter.txt
Check only recovery.img (select recovery.img by clicking on location corresponding to recovery in sp flash tool) and uncheck all others.
Switch off your phone.
Click the Download option
Connect your phone now. The Flash Tool will start the flashing process, the progress shown at the bottom with yellow progress bar. (Don't interrupt this process as it can potentially brick your device).
A green ring will appear showing that the process was successful.
Disconnect & Reboot your phone.
Note: Use Laptop for flashing to ensure uninterrupted power supply

One method that you can try is by doing the following:
1. Download the CWM recovery image and the stock ROM.
2. Rename the CWM recovery file to "recovery.img" and place it in the stock ROM folder.
3. Use the SP Flash tools to re-write the recovery image on to the phone.
