Tab became very slowly after copying more than 8Gb on internal storage - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people.
I've got strange problem.
Tab works very good while internal storage is empty and becomes very slowly after copying about 8-9Gb on internal storage.
So slow, that i have to wait up to 15 seconds to start, for example, Dolphin Browser.
The only way to get normal working speed is to clear internal storage and flash stock ROM via Odin.
I've tested two various 7.7 16 Gb Tabs on stock and on custom ROMs and got the problem is all cases.
Does anybody know what is the reason of this?

lagfix from Play Market solves my problem.
2Moderator: You can delete topic, but it may be usefull for somebody. I think I'm not the only one noob with this problem who couldn't find the solution with forum search.

Funny thing, same problem cropped up recently on my Tab 7.7 running Cyanogenmod 10.
The embedded MMC became very slow. Since lagfixes just reformat the partitions to ext4 and CM10 does already use ext4 they will not be any help. Doing a wipe from recovery didnt help anything.
I will probably try reflashing to stock and wiping with Odin. Maybe that will help.

supposedly deactivating mediascanner improves nothing either?

[Resolved] [Q] Problem with StarBurst Froyo HTC 2.29.405 [30 Jan]

I have bought a new 16gb Kingston SD card. I partitioned it 11GB FAT32 and the remainigng ext4.
I rooted my HTC Desire, wiped it, installed StarBurst and then installed Data2SD. So far so good. The phone booted back up and all seemed well but accessing apps was slow. I then tried downloading an application from the market and got the error "Sorry, there is not enough space to install this application".
I checked and my SD card is showing 11gb free space and my internal memory is showing 3gb.
Has anyone seen this problem?
Many Thanks
Formatted both partitions and reinstalled Staburst Lite 1.2.0 and getting same error. As the phone recognises there is space, could there be a permissions problem?
When you flash Starburst, it sets the permissions just before it finishes the install. You're ROM might be bad, you should try downloading the full one. Doing a factory reset. Flashing the ROM. Then rebooting and flashing the App2SD install and reboot again. Hopefully things work out for you. I'm having problems with Starburst too.
I completely wiped and reformatted SD partitions, downloaded the lite ROM (had tried standard) and installed that. Same problems, the phone seen the 3gb internal memory but I couldnt install apps. It did however download the update for google maps and install that automatically. Even after that if I tried getting anything from the market I got the no space error.
When I had the standard ROM installed, I evntually tried the fix permissions button in ROM manager. It did 170ish tasks but didnt fix the problem. This was my first attempt at flashing my Desire. I have learnt a fair bit already about it and done plenty of googling and reading.
I have installed Oxygen for now but would like to get starburst working to try out this performance boost it boasts.
Ok, I gave StarBurst another go, reduced my ext4 partition down to 1gb from 3.x gb and it works now. Maybe a restriction to what size it can work with.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-p5113) Internal Storage Issues after flashing custom ROM

So after rooting and flashing the "Clean" ROM v1.1 I had internal storage issues. First the gallery app would not work. It would give me a message "not enough memory" when trying to open it. Also I could not save any downloads, I would get a message that download failed. So, I recovered to the stock ROM provided in the guide (I have a GT-p5113). Recovering to this stock ROM fixed the above issues. However at this time I noticed that my internal storage shrank from the stock 16GB to about 2 GB total (even if i deleted everything my total internal storage would only be 2GB). So it's like my internal memory went from 16GB to 2GB for no reason. See attached screenshot. I'm not sure if that happened after installing the custom "Clean" v1.1 ROM or when I recovered back to the stock ROM. I've since flashed both the "Infected" ROM and the CM9 ROM and with those I still have the reduced storage area and the problems with the gallery app and inability to save downloads.
Anyone have any ideas what happened and how I can get my storage space back?
Same Problem here
Im having the same problem with mine Ive flashed all three of those roms and have no internal storage space left really. the Misc Files in internal storage has jumped to 8.34 GB and an available 2.18 left.
Please someone help us.
P.S. if you figured out how to fix this please post back.
Thanks!
Gallery "not enough memory"
Similar issue. Tried wiping Dalvik but still not working. Installed 3 times wiping data each time. Any ideas?
Same exacts specific problem as kdubbfive.
im not sure Dunkn.Mynes has the same problem. He is losing free space as if something is taking up room .Dunkn, check you r. clockworkmod directory isnt on your internal memory, taking up more room each time you r un a back up.
Just to underline kdubbfive's problem.
have gt-p5113 - same here
installed cleanrom 1.1 - - same here here
total internal memory shrunk from 16gb to 2gb - same here
restored and tried other roms, internal memory remains 2gb
Weird thing is i had the exact same problem putting clean rom on my phone - Motorola atrix
if i dont he of any fixes ill probably try factory restore with kies and the computer image. i only have a chinese stock image that is suppoosed to be the same as USA version. but I'm not convinced of it.
ill post if i get the nerve to try this our find another fix. if anyone has stock image for gtp5113 p please post. good luck.
Thanks for the Info - Hope to find Solution
Glad to hear someone else is having the exact same issue. I've been going crazy trying to find a solution. Please post if you are successful. I'll do the same.

HERE's what worked for me (kind of a complete wipe)
I'm a novice, first time writing instructions, and 2nd time ever posting so let me know if I missed something, and I'll try to get back to you on it.
Make backups as best you can (CWM recovery, Titanium, nandroid)
ALL DATA WILL BE LOST. Haven't tried recovery of data yet. That's the concept behind all the backups above.
Not sure all was neccessary, or what step was key so here is all of it:
Install Kies http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/
Connect tablet and follow any Samsung Instructions exactly
What is says there is updated ROM available, allow it to to install.
On reboot your system will not be rooted, and data will be there (only for the moment), on mine internal storage was still 2GB
Do a factory reset, wipe any cache and all that. Maybe repeat for good luck.
Follow the rooting instructions exactly here including re-downloading files and following all precautions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056
(I noticed the cwm file has a PIT file in it which relates to internal memory partitioning. I suspect this may have been key here.)
Follow instructions all the way to the end.
In the end I had 12GB internal which is normal because I think there are 2 2GB hidden partions there for ROM and maybe swap file, I don't know)
I'm going to make a backup now, then go back to see what I can recover. On second thought, maybe I'll just start fresh. Also, I think I'm done with custom roms. I can deal with the junk Samsung programs for the sake of dependability.
Good luck. I'll check back to see if you have questions.
Thank You!!!
Worked like a charm! Thanks, a million!

[Q] Can't Mount Internal /SDcard SGS2

Hi Guys,
After installing the Jellybean version of Resurrection Remix using a clean install like I'd done a million times before, I came across the problem where now the internal "/sdcard" won't mount. I've read a lot of different threads on the web about this but no one seems to have a fix, except for a similar thread from Android Stack Exchange (I can't post it yet).
However, that doesn't work (when I use the ADB shell, I can detect the device, reboot it, remount the /system but not remount the /sdcard). I thought it might possibly be because I tried to fix it a few days ago by formatting the "phone" drive when it popped up on my after connecting it, and the page I referred to talks about the internal SD card being FAT formatted (not NTFS which WIn7 does automatically!).
I've also used Odin to reflash a stock ROM thinking that would fix it, done the whole "format", "factory reset", wiped partitions, caches and delvik caches etc etc to no avail. Now, even when I use recovery to try to mount the /sdcard I get an error, and if I try to format the /sdcard from the recovery menu that doesn't work either.
Problem started with Clockwork Mod 6.6 and so I've downgraded to 5.5 and ICS stock ROM. Still no good.
It's affecting a lot of apps (for example, I can't restore by backup password file to awallet, and it has all my banking details on there!) and I really need to fix it ASAP.
Any ideas?
I'm absolutely desperate and have spent days trying to figure this one out, but I am beat. I need some serious help here and you guys are the ones I think who could help. Anyone??
Cheers,
CJ.

[Q] Unable to locate internal sdcard error

Hello All,
I wanted to post this to the Android Development section but since I have fewer than 10 posts I am forbidden from doing so.
Intermittently I will notice some apps do not load images or act as they normally should, and upon opening Solid Explorer to do some investigation I receive an error message (Cannnot browse to "/mnt/sdcard". An unknown error occured.). I find I am unable to access the internal sdcard through Solid Explorer, and when navigating using Root Explorer it only displays an empty folder.
This seems to happen at least once a day, and restarting my phone usually fixes it at least for a few hours. Sometimes ending all applications through task manager & clearing RAM memory through RAM manager will allow me to normally browse my internal sdcard using Solid Explorer for about a minute or so, and then become unaccessable again. Phone reboots seem to be the only fix, albeit a temporary one that only lasts a few hours.
I am unable to save screenshots when this occurs, unable to save pictures, some apps do not function properly -- all which makes sense if the phone is really unable to access the internal sdcard. I have performed numerous wipes (full wipe, cache, dalvik) & reinstalled newer nightly SynergyROMs but I have been unable to fix the issue. Searching these forums has not brought me any relevant information which pertains to the same issue I am having.
I appreciate any help or insight you guys can provide, thanks for taking a look.
Quick Background:
32GB Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon network
No external microsd card
Unlocked & Rooted
Running SynergyROM Nightly (r73)
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.0
Why would you think to post this in Android Development? This is a question, and thus belongs in Q/A (where it is posted). Android Development is for people who actually developed something, like a ROM, Kernel, etc.
I don't know what kind of advice to give you though, besides try formatting in advanced options of CWM, a reprovision (*2767*3855# ) on stock (back up everything first, to somewhere other than internal SD as it will be wiped) or maybe a 32GB PIT, with a PIT being the least likely solution.
I second this question!!

I logged in today because I am having the exact same problem. Same ROM as well, Synergy r73. I've tried formatting the SDCard, tried a complete reformat of the phone. But nothing seems to help.
Also, to clarify, it isn't restricted to the external SD card (which mounts to /mnt/etxSDcard folder). It's the entire /mnt directory that hangs. I'm able to go into options and mount and unmount the external card fine. But as soon as I try and access /mnt using any app (andExplorer, Wifi File Explorer, even a simple 'ls' in terminal) the phone hangs, stops responding to button presses, and eventually reboots itself.
Also, I've found my timing matches Kenshingtx's as well. If I reboot the phone, I can access external storage, and the entire /mnt folder for that matter, just fine, and it stays this way for about an hour or so.
Any further ideas are greatly appreciated.
btw, I think he mentioned posting the Android dev because there is a thread specifically dedicated to this ROM with numerous questions and answers in it. (Albeit hard to follow since it's over 800 pages) I already searched in there and found no mention of this issue.
The SD card problem sounds like something that used to happen with the old modems.
Go to about phone and check your baseband. If it doesn't end in G7 or HD then you have an older radio that had this issue.
Here's a link to where you can get what you need that explains everything better then I could.

My phone has the G7 modem in it.
Thanks for everyone's input so far. My baseband ends in F2 so I'll try updating my modem and see what that does (even though nerfage seems to be having the same problem with the G7 modem). And you're right, I wanted to post in the synergyROM development thread thinking the problem might've been specific to that ROM.
I'll also look into reprovisioning on stock rom per Zalithian's suggestion to wipe the internal sd card, and see if that helps.
@nerfage - I dunno what the problem is then, could be ROM specific. If you figure out what's wrong post how you fixed it here. You may also want to try flashing the HD rom. Might fix it, might not.
@Kenshingtx - Not sure if the wipe would help so make sure that's an absolutely final thing, googling around is always useful. Hopefully the flash thing does the trick though.

Flashed the latest modem ending in HD, and tested my phone over the weekend. Still having the same issue where the internalsd becomes unavailable. Wondering if the hardware in our devices are faulty..?

My phone appears to be fixed. I backed up all the files on my mnt/sdcard, performed full/cache/dalvik wipes, formatted internal memory through recovery, flashed the rom again (decided to try Beans ROM this past week) and I haven't had the same issue come back. It looks like the cause of the problem was something on my internalsd, try formatting it (after backing up any files you need) to see if it'll fix the problem for you too. Good luck.
Note: the fix does not appear to be related to the ROM, i was having the same issue on the Beans ROM as well until I formatted the internal memory

[Q] CM 10.1 internal memory low

I have installed CM 10.1 in my GT-P3113 and it works great, I like the interface better than Samsung. But the internal memory shows up as about 4.5gb with 500mb used by apps, and about 400mb free. That doesn't sound right, I don't have very many apps, but I am having trouble downloading some of the larger games, like Asphalt7. Can I do anything to fix this? Am I missing some step, like a nand flash or format? I have a 32gb sdhc card but use it for music and videos. Don't want to start moving apps to it.

now does your device initially had 11.85 GB internal memory?
if yes, then you could free up your memory.
well, i am just sharing my experience with CM 10.1 on tab 2 but p3100(almost same as p3113, with extra calling facility). b4 flashing cm10.1 i had some 7 GB internal memory with my stock ROM(4.1.2). if i would ve flashed that stock rom again, then my internal memory would ve gone to around 10.9-11.2 GB, as it formats the device completely.
but when i flashed with CM 10.1, i had internal memory less than 7 GB now, it is just because it doesn't formats your device, but removes your installed applications. let me explain you in other way---->lets go with installing windows 7 in your PC.
if you install windows without booting by using some virtual disks or some DVD, your old programs gets stored in windows.old folder, the same happens here, its just that you are using the CM recovery as your virtual disk thing, it overwrites your systems keeping your old files(BUT NOT IN ANY SINGLE FOLDER) they are kept as it is. the apps you installed earlier with your OLD FIRMWIRE WILL NOT GET REMOVED, BUT ALSO WILL NOT WORK.
in this case the only way to get rid of this memory issue is to remember those folders where your programs get installed with yous OLD OS(firmwire) and DELETE them directly(just like deleting WINDOWS.old folder if you dont need it). well for some huge games like NFS MW or ASPHALT, dont delete those folders where it got installed previously, as these are downloaded data, so with your new firwire you just install the game with the reqd apk file and your game will run without downloading data again, if you delete them, u ve to download again. but its better if you keep a backup of such huge games in your PC)
but in the other way if you install windows from the boot using your DVD, you ve an option to format and reinstall(the formatting drive option, you ll not get if you are not booting from the CD and directly running the installer from within an OS). the same happens here too, if you flash your firmwire from the download mode, your device is completely formatted(additionally u may need to clear wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache too, from the recovery).
SO IF YOU FLASH CM 10.1 FROM THE DOWNLOAD MODE YOU CAN GET ALL YOUR MEMORY BACK, but i don't know if there is any method to install CMs or AOKPs or any custom ROM from the download mode, as these files are in zip format and not *tar.md5. so we install them from the recovery mode.
LETS SEE IF THERE IS ANY METHOD TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS VIA DOWNLOAD MODE USING ODIN DIRECTLY(but i dont think so).
