Hi Guys,
After installing the Jellybean version of Resurrection Remix using a clean install like I'd done a million times before, I came across the problem where now the internal "/sdcard" won't mount. I've read a lot of different threads on the web about this but no one seems to have a fix, except for a similar thread from Android Stack Exchange (I can't post it yet).
However, that doesn't work (when I use the ADB shell, I can detect the device, reboot it, remount the /system but not remount the /sdcard). I thought it might possibly be because I tried to fix it a few days ago by formatting the "phone" drive when it popped up on my after connecting it, and the page I referred to talks about the internal SD card being FAT formatted (not NTFS which WIn7 does automatically!).
I've also used Odin to reflash a stock ROM thinking that would fix it, done the whole "format", "factory reset", wiped partitions, caches and delvik caches etc etc to no avail. Now, even when I use recovery to try to mount the /sdcard I get an error, and if I try to format the /sdcard from the recovery menu that doesn't work either.
Problem started with Clockwork Mod 6.6 and so I've downgraded to 5.5 and ICS stock ROM. Still no good.
It's affecting a lot of apps (for example, I can't restore by backup password file to awallet, and it has all my banking details on there!) and I really need to fix it ASAP.
Any ideas?
I'm absolutely desperate and have spent days trying to figure this one out, but I am beat. I need some serious help here and you guys are the ones I think who could help. Anyone??
Cheers,
CJ.

I'll try this forum, over 200 views on my other posts and no suggestions. Is the problem that obscure ? The tablet, while not worthless, is getting there as I am unable to load any of the hacks and fixes to the SD card to install. Is there a work-around the SD card so I could reinstall the g-sensor fix ?
With all the great minds on this forum, surely someone will have some insight into my problem. To start with I am running the latest Vegan release (thanks Team) and have been since 1/1. The only thing I can think of that might have caused this problem was that I foolishly removed my SD card without dismounting it and popped in a blank one to see if it was working. Since then, I am unable to mount an SD card. If just says "Unmount in Progress". When I click on unmount, it will unmount it and give me the "Mount SD card" option, when I try to mount it, it will say "preparing SD card", then go back to "Unmount in Progress". When I try to mount a new card, it says "Card blank or unsupported file system". But all the other card I have used in my Gtab give me the same Unmount in Progress issues. I reinstalled Vegan. Apps that used to work, no longer work, they just open and close (No FC message)
Someone please help !!!

I'm not one of the g tablet great minds but I'll make a suggestion that always works for me.
1) Format your external SD card in a computer with Fat32. Preferably not a quick format.
2) Using Recovery wipe EVERYTHING, repartition/format the internal memory.
3) Reboot into Recovery
4) Connect to a computer, mount usb, copy your files over again.
5) Re-install the rom of your choice.
In my experience (at least on the HD2 with Android) crazy FC's and otherwise unexpected behavior from a freshly installed ROM means there are leftovers that were not removed from the previously installed rom.
IMHO the device should be completely empty of every bit of software before reinstalling.
Edit: On a side note, I have NOT been able to get an external SD card from recovery which is why I do everything through USB-Mount with the computer.
If you can mount via usb, you could put the ClockWorkMod (CWM) update.zip and recovery file and then reboot with Pwr/Vol+. That should install CWM.
Then you will be able to boot into CWM and repartition or whatever you need to do. Personally I would repatition, clean out the caches, wipe data, etc. and then start with a clean slate.
Hope I have not misunderstood what you need. Hope this helps.

Factory Re-set
Don't know if this will help or not, somtimes you need to clear out the cashe.
Have you tried going into settings and clicking factory reset?
You will lose your user data, but this might be enough to fix the problem. I think you have parts of two installs overlapping each other.
Also, reformatting the SD card sounds like the next step to try if factory reset does not fix the problem.
Third you could NVflash back to stock and then start over. Then do factory reset after each install.
If you have to wipe everything I would suggest formatting your internal sdcard in clockwork to 2048 and 0

If you did a factory reset and nothing happened then the reset didn't work. I would install clockwork recovery from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851657
Then boot into clockwork recovery and clear data/cache. You will have to redo the market fix and install your apps. If this doesn't stop the force closes then boot into clockwork recovery and repartition your sdcard to 2048 and 0
I'm having the same problem. I did nvflash and started fresh. Installed CWM making sure to wipe data/cache. I partioned the SD to 2048/0. I installed vegan 5.1 and its update. I think I did everything by the book, yet it still says Unmount in progress. This did not occur when I was running stock.
I tried the sd card from mt Evo as well. It does the same thing. It also does not recorgnize any USB flash installed as well.
I've run out of ideas. Can anyone help?
Thanks very much.

My VEGAn 5.1.1 says same thing but I never have a problem accessing files on it (/mnt/sdcard2). Are you sure you are not confused by the fact that the internal memory is divided into 2 GB "system" and 14 GB SD1?

Be patient, it took forever to mount a thumb drive for the first time and I too had thought something was wrong. Try again after a reboot and a couple of minutes.
Hope this helps
Thanks for trying to help. I pretty much gave up and installed TNT 5.0. I've had the thumb drive in there for 5 minutes but I'll keep it in to see if it shows up. In TNT, the SD card seems to be working/appearing fine.
I really liked Vegan, but I'll keep TNT for at least a few days to see how it does.
Thanks again!
Hello !
I have a big problem with my galaxy s.
Since January i am working with my JPY firmware quiete fine. On sunday the phone rebooted without anything done by me. Afterwards my homescreen was empty.
Most of my apps are not working now. So i have done a wipe. Nothing, the same. Interesting is, that all my data was still on the device. Then i try to format the internal sd. Not working, no error message. When I delete all files and deinstalled all apps, everthing was gone. After a reboot all data is back on the internal sd as before.
OK then i tried to flash different 1 and 3 file firmware versions with odin(also with repartitioning). But no version is really working and i never get to the homescreen. So I flashed the JPY back. Then everything is like before my first steps. All data is on the phone, i can not delete anything.
I tried do delete the storage also with recovery mode. Nothing.
I tried with adb (android sdk), deleted all files in /mnt/sdcard. After a remount all data appears back.
What can i do to get my phone working ? I have found no possibility so far.
Thanks in advance for your help!

try to update it using kies or if u have latest version then try flash your device using odn flasher
Thanks for your help harmandeep45. But all this is already done. I worked on this issue little longer and can say that there is some unrepairable problem with the internal sd. I can not delete any partition neither with adb (parted /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 rm). When I do a print everything is there. I am able to mount and unmount the partitions. No problem. But it is not possible to reorganize them. Even if i write on the sdcard partition, after a remount it is as before the write. Maybe the flash memory is broken. Does anybody had the same issue? I already tried the things written in this post, but without luck : http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-845708.html
I have the same problem, i had installed another firmware on my sgs and start throwing me program errors I had before in my other firmware and when it comes to memory I saw that the folders that were there had not cleared and when I trying to delete the folders and files reappeared.
Ok, what i have tested is to flash different firmware versions. Nothing worked. I used the debug console adb to log in and tried to delete the partitions from /dev/block/mmcblk0 with parted. Nothing happens. I am not able to delete them. I don't want to send the phone to the samsung service, because there is important company data on it, like emails, banking, ebay, etc. I tried to mount it in Linux as usb memory device and used gpartet to create new partitions and overwrite all with dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb1, but after reboot everything was like before. Is there any other possibility to delete the flash???

you have to flash it with jtag box riff, but I doubt you have one, you have to find a place where they have the box
Thread can be closed now. Problem is now fixed, sort of. Thanks admins/mods.
Hi guys, have been reading a lot on rooting for my Samsung Galaxy SII GTI9100 for quite a while and since yesterday have rooted and flashed Paranoid Android 3.50 ROM with 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, along with Gapps. Everything seemed fine, I did a clean wipe (factory, cache, dalvik) and everything was successful, however when booted up I realised that the wipe wasn't exactly "clean" as I still had most of my data still in my Internal Memory. Along with that, I realised that my Paranoid Android Halo Features were non existent (the reason I chose PA), so I decided to do another clean wipe + flash.
Now I can't exactly remember the turn of events that follows but what happened is that my EXTERNAL sd card seemed to be unmounted after I formatted it thinking that they meant to format the INTERNAL sd card. From this point forward, neither my phone nor my PC is able to detect the EXTERNAL sd card.
I have done multiple wipes, re-flashes, read MANY of threads on xda and other sites, but it seems that with every solution I find, I get another problem. I have tried flashing other PA ROMS, even Stock ROM, but they all give me some kind of error (Status 7 I believe). I tried to do a recovery, but I recieved a md5sum error. Tried to fix that with the various methods including adb but I get "cannot find file/directory" or something along those lines. Some other errors include Signature Verification: Fail, and when I used adb to push the ROM onto my EXTERNAL sd card (surprisingly it managed to be pushed through but I can't see it on my pc/phone) and tried to install zip from there using CWM, it says something like the zip file is (bad).
Currently I'm now stuck on PA 3.50 with Gapps not installed (tried installing many times but it doesn't appear, only worked the first time). Tried with two different Gapps file but I get the usual installation error. Can't install Google Play via any external apk either.
The PA ROM that I currently have is:
pa_i9100-3.50-10MAJ2013-030547.zip
and the Gapps that ORIGINALLY worked on the first try was:
pa_gapps-full-4.2-20130603-signed.zip
Would really appreciate help, it's been more than 12 hours since I've been doing this and I haven't stopped trying except for a couple hours of sleep. Not the first time I'm rooting (have a rooted Touchpad running CM9), but didn't expect things to get so bad.
Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance.
So I have had CM10 on my phone for probably 8 months now (almost since I got the phone) and have had no issues with the ROM whatsoever.
I got a notification about an updated version of CM10 today and went ahead and downloaded and installed it, but when I finished the update, I had no personal data left on the phone, could not set up accounts to recover the data, could not (and still can't) recover backups through ROM Manager, and cannot recover backups through CWM. I get an error message which I can't remember at the moment and leads to a bricked phone upon reboot until I do a fresh install of CM10.0.
I read after I started having the issues that I wasn't supposed to directly upgrade from the CM Updater with an S3, but it was already too late. Supposedly the issue is something along the lines of an emulated version of my phone's internal storage? If that makes sense. So whenever it's pulling a piece of information it's looking in the spot it should be in, but on a non-physically-existent SD card, essentially. That's what I gathered anyways.
I have a 32gb external SD Card that is also in use with my S3. I have tried moving my ROM Backups to there and recovering from the External SD Card, but the same error message occurred, although ROM Manager was at least able to find the backups after they were moved (I also had to change the setting and request that it prefer to look through an external SD Card).
So I have a usable ROM as far as the software itself, but I no longer can use any accounts or information that is stored with them or any of the same widgets (not a game-breaker) as I was able to previously. Is there a way to fix this? I've never just been completely stuck before >.<

Just to be clear, you're saying to try and flash CM10.0 and then do not update when prompted from the notification? The other part was clear enough lol.
Edit: Tried the above and did not fix the problem, but I didn't use fastboot specifically because I have a Samsung phone.
The error I'm getting is "unable to mount /system" when I try and restore a backup.
Bump. Still haven't figured this out.
Problem solved.
Re-flashed CM10.1; doing full data, cache, and dalvik wipes before and after the flash; and the problem was corrected.
I am at my wits end here. I've searched for hours now, without getting any results. My problem is as the title says.
Right now I can't mount the System Partition (it's 0 MB) in the latest TWRP recovery. So I can't install any ROM, and my old one is already wiped.
I used to be on CM 11, with my sd-card partitioned in a way (forgot what way) that support mount2sd method of increasing /data size.
Now I want to upgrade to CM 12 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...dev-cyanogenmod-12-11-19-2012-alpha1-t2945587). Problem is, I lost my sd adapter to connect my micro-sd card to my computer. I was trying other methods of partitioning it. Ended up wiping everything clean, and erasing (all?) partitions on the sd card. I guess I now I've gone and done it. System doesn't wanna mount. All data is backed up, thankfully.
So can anyone please suggest what I should do now?
And on a side note, how to multi-partition the sdcard without PC?
