[Resolved] [Q] Problem with StarBurst Froyo HTC 2.29.405 [30 Jan] - General Questions and Answers

I have bought a new 16gb Kingston SD card. I partitioned it 11GB FAT32 and the remainigng ext4.
I rooted my HTC Desire, wiped it, installed StarBurst and then installed Data2SD. So far so good. The phone booted back up and all seemed well but accessing apps was slow. I then tried downloading an application from the market and got the error "Sorry, there is not enough space to install this application".
I checked and my SD card is showing 11gb free space and my internal memory is showing 3gb.
Has anyone seen this problem?
Many Thanks

Formatted both partitions and reinstalled Staburst Lite 1.2.0 and getting same error. As the phone recognises there is space, could there be a permissions problem?

When you flash Starburst, it sets the permissions just before it finishes the install. You're ROM might be bad, you should try downloading the full one. Doing a factory reset. Flashing the ROM. Then rebooting and flashing the App2SD install and reboot again. Hopefully things work out for you. I'm having problems with Starburst too.

I completely wiped and reformatted SD partitions, downloaded the lite ROM (had tried standard) and installed that. Same problems, the phone seen the 3gb internal memory but I couldnt install apps. It did however download the update for google maps and install that automatically. Even after that if I tried getting anything from the market I got the no space error.
When I had the standard ROM installed, I evntually tried the fix permissions button in ROM manager. It did 170ish tasks but didnt fix the problem. This was my first attempt at flashing my Desire. I have learnt a fair bit already about it and done plenty of googling and reading.
I have installed Oxygen for now but would like to get starburst working to try out this performance boost it boasts.

Ok, I gave StarBurst another go, reduced my ext4 partition down to 1gb from 3.x gb and it works now. Maybe a restriction to what size it can work with.

[Q] HELP with Apps2SD on the LG Optimus One

I've tried the current and several previous versions of Darktremor's Apps2SD and don't have any luck getting it to work with my Optimus One phone. I've got a 8gb card partitioned with 7gb of fat32 and about 1gb of ext3. Before each install, I wipe everything in the phone-data & cache. After flashing the zip file, the phone boots fine and after I run the app, it reboots the phone and the phone just goes into a loop displaying the android animation.
Does anyone have similar experience? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm having the same problem, or sort of...
Iv'e installed darktremor's apps2sd, foloowing every step including partitioning the SD, but after i installed several apps and internal space decreased drasticaly.
I would like to know it it works with LG P500/Optimus One stock rom v10a with root?
thanks
I gave up trying and did it the hard way. Cooked up my own rom and included the apps2sd feature, flashed it to the phone and now it's working great. It was a real leap of faith though. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, unless of course you don't care about losing the use of the phone. Anyway if you cook up your own rom, you should be able to get this working properly.

[Resolved] [Q] apps not installing onto a2sd

Hi, i've recently installed the Oxygen V2 RC7 rom onto my HTC Desire. I've installed the Rom Manager app and have used that to create a partition to allow for apps to install onto my sd card.
However when I install apps, it appears that it still stores onto my internal memory. At the moment when I go into Titanium Backup it states that my internal memory only has 64.2mb free (down from 154mb) and SD card (a2sd) has 452mb free (down from 480mb).
I've tried googling but I can't seem to find any solutions. I've also tried reflashing the rom again but nothing changed.
If someone could point me in the right direction and to what I may have done wrong, or if i've missed something, it would be highly appreciated! a2sd was one of the main reasons I rooted, so it's a bummer it's not working atm!
Thanks in advance!
[RESOLVED] Found out the reason. Dalvik cache wasn't moved.
anyone? any help would be highly appreciated!
i have the same problem. i've 2gb ext3 partition and also installed leedroid a2sd version rom. but when i installed just a few applications, my phone's free memory space decreased to 100mb. and i couldn't understand this solution can anybody help me please ?

Lost root w/ new microSD card.

Got a good deal on a Sandisk 16gb MicroSD @ costco today so figured i'd upgrade my inspire from the stock 8.
I read some threads and seemed like I should just be able to copy over the data and swap the cards.
No such luck...
Ugh... what a nightmare.
First attempt all my apps showed up but then said they were not installed if I tried to run them.
Put in the old SD card and all was fine.
So did some digging and found that there were two other partitions on the SD card, linux partitions.
I used a partitioning tool to copy over all the partitions to the new SD card.
Now it saw my apps and things were running fine.
Until I opened Market. It found updates to every app I had installed, and when trying to update they would give Invalid pgk. file errors.
I had that problem a long time ago with a bad rom install so figured It wouldn't hurt to reinstall the ROM.
Used Rom Manager to reinstall LeeDroid 3.3.3 Just cleared the dalvik, left data.
Now its running and all my apps are there, the market still found updates, but this time it installed them just fine.
It looked like everything is running ok.
Went into Titanium Backup to restore my accounts - and it tells me it can not find root. super user permission denied.
Now I am lost. Do I need to run Ace kit on this with this new SD card?
Any help would rock!
Thanks.

If you're running a custom ROM you still have root. I would suggest clearing data for super user. You will have to give permissions to apps that require root.

[Q] no internal space after installing rom

Need help and can't post in the thread required because i'm new. I installed explorerman's rom xenon system http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048312 which installs great but after install and rebooting several times I still have an internal storage issue. I have a 32gig SD partitioned with a 4gig ext3 partition, when the rom boots I get an error about internal storage then I get an error about the m2sd app saying the script is either missing or out of date. I follow the instructions and update through m2sd then, after a few minutes reboot the phone. Next it still say's the internal memory is full, 1mb free and m2sd still showing errors with no data moved to the sd-ext. I tried a 4gig sd card with a 1 gig ext3 partition but still the same problem.
I am doing as said and wiping dalvik cache etc. I have a backup of the ONLY rom that works which is based on android 4.03 but I want the original setup back on the phone so any help needed and please, no stupid comments or immature comments as I have seen from some posts here. i'm not a child but at the same time I am not a tech-head, thanks.

I wouldn't know how to, I just trust the developer and since the rom does everything I wouldn't know where to look. the last time I tried editing a rom zip, it wouldn't install because it didn't match the original signature of the zip file. Also, because I am a new forum user, I can't contact the developer directly for some help.
Make 1 gb partition(Enough)! As the script uses 100mb of internal for every 500mb sd-ext....so making 3gb is useless.
Plus while configuring the app disable safe mode and see if that helps

Will try that, thankyou
Nope, didn't work, wiped the SD card and made a 1gig ext3 partition, also disabled safe-mode as suggested, still loads EVERYTHING to internal memory with 1mb left, it also comes up with a busybox error and a script error on first boot. I went into M2SD and set apps, data and delvik to use the sd-ext partiotn and waited, nothing, so rebooted the phone, nothing. All with the same message of 'The current status does not match your settings for this option' under Applications, Data and Delvik Cache, also 'Could not set the sdcard readahead' which is set to 512 as default.

try this
use INT2EXT

download the zip file and open it file manager using mobile (root explorer..)(set r/w permission) then find init.d folder inside INT2EXT script copy and put it into
system->etc-> init.d
paste it..
then reboot
Seems like a nand burn flash mimicm9 and see internal memory and tell without any scripts

Why you don't install cm10.1 beta 3. Its great and cool and stable to. Based on 4.2.2. Android os install link2sd and make both partition of fat32 by mini tool and don I have this problems when install the ROM you have then after I do this I have 8 GB SD card 1 GB fat 32 partition and other for data. Alls going good smooth stable. And a have 43 app installed on my pico and remaining internal memory showing 87 mb my good suggestion is to change ROM .
And give a time to the developers of (explorerman's rom xenon system) to make the ROM best
sent from my HTC explorer having ROM cm10.1 beta 3.
using xda app the best developers site for android

Did all that, I always do a complete clean of the phone before I try anything but still not working. I think, because it was a T Mobile HTC Explorer rather than a generic one that there is something hard coded into it. I see through the forums so many people having no problems at all but they have generic phones rather than unlocked phones from service providers. I am not a programmer so this is just guess work and from experience, I can't even restore the phone using an RUU because it will only accept a T-Mob one. If there a way to replace the entire software on the phone then I would but it's programmed into the chips at factory level (low level) since the phone was produced by HTC for T-Mobile. If the phone had been bought directly from HTC then there would be less problems. So far, I haven't found a single rom that doesn't have some kind of problem with this phone.
Thanks for all the suggestions but I'm guessing it's time to 'pick a window' for it and just save up for a more modern phone than trying to keep this HTC Pensioner going.

[Q] Bricked my phone formatting system, Unbricked, But now Mounts2sd mucks up phone!!

Ok heres the story (its not too long don't worry)-
But I URGENTLY need help to fix it please please.
I have an LG GT 540.
I got it 2months ago, and it came as factory standard, and on LG's android 1.6 operating system (so unusable basically).
Over the 2months I managed to upgrade it to a Cyanogen 4.2.1 custom rom, managed to learn how to partition my SD card into fat32 & ext2 and then installed Mounts2sd and used it to freeup space on phone.
(The phone comes with only 138mb storage, so is unusable without mounts2sd quite simply).
The phone was constantly freezingup everytime I tried to load any app ever,
but after clicking the 'Fix Permissions' tab in the recovery menu, it was all working fine and everything was working fine.
HOWEVER as 1 thing wasn't working on an app I love, and re-installing the app didn't fix the issue, I decided to wipe the whole phone, reinstall the ROM and try re-installing the app then.
But when trying to clear and wipe everything from the phone, in addition to clicking data wipe/cache wipe/dalvik cache wipe, I also clicked on the buttons saying ''Format system / Format SDcard / Format sd-ext''.
When I tried to reboot phone it was bricked, as had no boot screen logo, just was plain dark screen.
I fixed this by removing sd card from phone, putting it into laptop, placing the Cyanogen 4.2.1 rom file directly onto the sdcard, placing sd back into phone, rebooting into recovery menu, and then re-installing the ROM from the sd card.
However I now have a massive issue in that whilst the phone will now work without Mounts2sd installed (well it works but I cant install any apps as no space to do that),
As soon as I install Mounts2sd on the phone and try to use it, whilst it does freeup the memory its meant to, it totally mucksup the entire phone by making every app freeze, making phone not turn off straight away when clicked to... ect
I have removed sdcard, re-partitioned it on my laptop into Fat32 & Ext2, re-installed the ROM multiple times, and then re-installed mounts2sd on the fresh rom and tried to use it,
But everytime I try it just screwsup the phone and makes all the apps and everything on the phone freeze!!
Ive now wiped all data/cache/dalvik,
re-flashed that cyanogen rom onto the phone again (mustve done that 50x now in last 2months),
and am about to try formatting the sd card again on my laptop, then re-partitioning it to Fat32 & Ext2.
But before I re-install Mounts2sd and get the exact same issue all over again,
please please can someone tell me how I can fix this or what im doing wrong??
And so how exactly I can install Mounts2sd back onto my phone again, but without it messingup the whole phone and making everything on it freeze?
Thankyou soooo much inadvance
