Using the keydock, is there a way to use the touchpad for pinch to zoom functionality? I find it kind of cumbersome to have to do that on the pad screen itself when all the typing is done on the keydock.

Well, following your hint, I tried all Ctrl+<keys> ... and discovered a lot of intersting stuff Unfortunately the "pinch to zoom" thing was not among them.

You can find an entire guide somewhere on the Internet with all the shortcuts.
Believe me; they're handy to memorise.
I just checked and I don't know where you want to use that zoom feature, but it works for me in the browser, where I use zooming the most.

Ok, will try to find it ... I was trying the browser, but now that we speak of it, using Chrome browser. Will check with the stock browser. As you said, mostly need it for the browser, but also for maps. Sounds like the shortcuts are app dependent. Thanks!
In asus customised settings change the mouse to gesture mode. You should have pinch gestures available on the touch pad that way

Oh wow Thanks for pointing that out! ... tried in Maps and Browser, and this works like a charm! I have to get accustomed to the strange cursor shape though
On a lighter note, is there a common sense here of somehow flagging a question as answered?

Good question
I don't think that there is something like that
What always annoyed me about the gesture mode is the scrolling itself, because it recognises zooming a bit too quickly, even when just scrolling.

No, there's no way to mark a question answered. Once posed, it will float around in here for eternity. Or mankind's demise.

Random question... is there a button on the dock that any of you can find that when you click on a link in the browser it makes a new tab out of that page? for exmple, on windows when you hold down the control key and click it makes a new tab. I tried this on the keyboard and it did not work. Thanks in advance.
I don't have my dock yet, but I'd try ctrl+T

That makes a new tab, but thats not what i'm trying to do. I want to click on a link and make it turn into the new tab.
Example- when i am reading XDA forums and want to open a link someone posts but dont want to leave the forum, then on a windows computer i would hold CTRL and click the link.
Ohhh sorry... Either way I'm very interested in the solution to this.

Well, in regular android with touch controls you can long press on a link and then choose "open in new tab", so I guess that would work with the touchpad too. That's all I can think of though.

Try holding CTRL + Shift key then click on the link.
Shift Ctrl does not work, nor does just shift.
The other really random annoying thing that is you can not rearrange your tabs in the native browser. Oh well. Not the end of the world. Hopefully they will push a patch to fix it.
just longclick a link.
I'm sure more 'desktop' like functionality will be added as more Gingerbread tablets get out there. It will not surprise me at all if other manufacturers make keyboard docks like Asus did.
Tablets will get more and more functional, more powerful and usable. Many people will eventually be able to replace laptops and desktops with them.
Yeah, I read that the ctrl c and v (copy paste) doesn't work either. It all depends on the OS and/or apps. I actually don't know of the ctrl key will do anything. Remember honeycomb wasn't meant for a keyboard and mouse. If this combo becomes popular we may see more functionality included.

The control keys work in splashtop when controlling your computer.

I'm tempted to start a thread devoted to suggestions for updates for Asus to be aware of our ideas. Something like a key to enable a tab function seems like it would be easy to implement. Now that they have a majority of the major problems fixed (minus the whole screen lock issue), it seems like its time for the tweeks.
This is gonna sound dumb but is there a "home" button that I don't see on the stock browser???
How do i get "home" after surfing a bunch of pages?
The only one I know of is on the top right of the Bookmarks screen
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Can't you open a new tab, and that is your homepage? Thats what I do.
thank you both for those suggestions, they will work for me.
alternatively, from from the quick menu via the sides, hit the bookmark and it'll be on the upper right of the bookmark screen

yes, enable the quick access menu from the Settings of the stock browser. That will give you buttons like: forward&back&reload, bookmarks, new tab, etc. Basically if you open a new tab that will have your home page.

Why? The stock browser is as good as (as bad as?) any other browser.

That is true enough, but I have found that no matter what browser I try, I always go back to the stock one.

I just wish there was an ad-blockling plug-in for it.
For all firefox mobile's problems with flash support and appalling image quality the ability to surf without annoying ads everywhere is tempting...

Yea, especially from this site, I guess that is what the xda premium app is for. I have a hell of a time trying to close the ads that pop up on my transformer when browsing this site through the browser.

Hi all,
I'm using Dolphin HD NOT Dolphin for Pad as HD offers more features at the moment. However I am missing the back and forward butons so I'm just wondering if there are any keyboard shortcuts to 'mimmick' the back and forward buttons?
Thanks

Well that was kind of a 'None Answer' given the question was about keyboard shortcuts.
I have the same question. I'm using a Microsoft Wedge Keyboard on a Xoom. Fantastic Keyboard by the way.
Since I got the keyboard, i will often place my tablet on the stand an arms lengths awy. Reaching over to the tablet to go to the next or back page is a pain.

I didn't see anywhere in the OP about a keyboard.
At the time Dolphin HD lack the onscreen back and forward button hence my suggestion for him to use "gesture".

Are there any way to use xoom's screen as a multitask screen like we usualy do in a desktop pc. I mean, reading a pdf opened in half screen while another app is open in another part.
So we can have two or more app insight on screen at the same time?
Root, and EOS cornerstone rom... it comes wiht a couple bugs, but it can do it.
Lilly Pad
Overskreen
AirCalc
Stickit
these are floating apps which lets you multi task with them

Thanks. But nothing I'm looking for.
I wanna split screen, or something like this, in a way i can read a pdf text and also have a notepad to write in the same screen. Without having to change everytime.

The Cornerstone rom from TeamEOS works. From using it, I was able to work with 3 apps at once. It may be a bit buggy, but it is getting better with every nightly that comes along. The only apps that don't play too nice with Cornerstone are mostly games, but that's understandable.
Hope that helps
Cheers
Hi guys,
I am pretty sure it is possible, however I am not certain.
I wanted to know: Is it possible to add some gestures to the trackpad, such as swiping left with 2 fingers etc, just like all the 2-finger gestures one might have on a MacBook or so.
I know, it might be a silly mod, but if it's possible; why not?!
Thanks!

Actually, those gestures are already built in! You have to change the Mouse Cursor mode under Asus Custom Settings. If you set it to "Gesture Mode", those gestures will work.
Actually, the two finger scroll woks even with the normal mouse cursor mode too! Have you not tried it?

Thanks for the reply! I've done that, but here's what I've found:
1) Scrolling is counter-intuitive as opposed to the 'mouse cursor' setting
2) When trying to scroll to the left, it recognises the gesture too easily as a zooming gesture, which makes it super mega irritating to use.
Or is there a mod for that mode that I missed out on?
Anyway, thanks for the reply! Much appreciated!

Yes, I know. I might have put it in an unclear manner.
What I meant to say is: whereas I find the Mouse Cursor way of scrolling very handy and intuitive, I find the Gesture way of doing it (you know- the "upside down scrolling") somewhat counter-intuitive.
I don"t know if you know what I mean.
On top of that, the scrolling left and zooming gestures often get mixed results, so I was wondering: is there anyone out there who can mod these gestures?
I guess I'm not understanding the problem. The two-finger gestures seem to work perfectly for me (I use the normal "Mouse Cursor Mode"). It doesn't do pinch to zoom, but I find the trackpad too small to use that feature anyway.
Just to make it clearer - what exactly would you prefer the trackpad to do differently?

Haha, that's okay!
I know it sometimes might be hard to understand what I am trying to say:
party 'cause I am Belgian, partly because it's hard to explain.
I would like the trackpad to join the two types of configurations in one, so that:
you'd have the regular (MacBook-like scroll) as seen in the Normal Cursor mode
you'd have the option to zoom and go back using other two-finger gestures
Hope the message get's across...

This is something I'd like to see! Maybe some more keyboard mods, not unlike the mod that allows you to change the default browser for the browser key.
