Hello,
5 minutes after the boot time, my HTC Desire is very hot.
2 hours later, the battery is completely empty.
I think the mother board is dead ?
Any idea ?
Thanx
Yup. Motherboard is broken. Replace it.

Hi, I sent my phone to HTC for repair because of a broken USB input. It came back yesterday after 4 weeks (free of charge, HTC's warranty covered it) and now it is really hot all the time even when idle and the battery will only last for a couple of hours. Is there anything I can do? S-off it and change ROM?
HBOOT: 1.29.0000
Thanks

Well, since you are stock & in warranty, wouldn't it be best to go back to HTC and inform them about the new problem?
Well yeah, but I'm so ****ing tired of sending it to repair. This will be the 4th time now, can't bear the thought of being with a HTC Touch Pro Diamond for another 4 weeks...
Really wan't to fix it myself if it's possible.

In your case, there really isn't much to do if you're all stock.
Try doing this though:
Use battery intensive applications to drain your battery completely.
Try switching it on a couple of times to drain any remaining charge.
Charge your phone for 4 hours continuously, without disturbing it or booting it.
Even if it shows the green LED, continue until 4-5 hours of charging has completed.
Power up your phone and observe for a day. If it is still the same, repeat once more.
Thanks, will do

From my experience with HTC phones your symptoms looks like you got main board (motherboard) problem which needs replacement. I had my Sensation XL replace by service centre lucky it was under warranty otherwise it would be costly.

Same issue
I just bought an HTC Sensation being sold with "battery issues" on ebay... it has a flashing orange light and refuses to charge when off. I figured the seller probably did not understand the charging issue, since the phone was unlocked, and they didn't have an external way to charge the battery and bring the phone back to life.
However I bought an extra battery and charger .... and I am experiencing the exact same problem. The phone will give one quick vibrate when attempting to power on.
Nothing on screen is displayed. However when I hook the phone up to the laptop it shows a greyed out "removable disk F:" and the computer detects an HTC device in device manager.
Do you guys think that the LCD is dead? At least the phone is showing some signs of life when hooked up to the PC.
HOWEVER, the phone gets very very hot at the bottom of the screen/around the sim slot. Also when I go to ADB devices and ask for it to list devices.... it does not show anything.
Buying this thing was probably not my smartest decision I contacted HTC and the warranty expired 3 weeks ago.
no i think lcd is not broken , motherboard is

I took it apart.... and yeah the motherboard is completely f***ed up. The one connector is destroyed and all of the chipset is completely destroyed on the mainboard. No wonder the bottom of the phone gets so hot.
The phone no longer has a warranty. How much does HTC charge for a mainboard replacement (it needs the bottom board , not the top one with flex cable)???
is the LCD toast? i gotta sensation with a cracked digitizer (which still works 100% when hooked up through hdmi and a tv) but the LCD is completely black.
When I turn my phone off, entirely (even after removing/re-inserting the battery) the charge animation still appears, signifying there is still some battery drain occurring....and it really does, too. It lasts for about a week in this state from fully charged, to entirely dead. This isn't the most concerning part, though....the only logical assumption is that the phone actually thinks it's being charged
I've done a FULL wipe of all partitions and a factory flash, but that hasn't helped....any suggestions? It's pretty annoying that if I don't want the battery to discharge I have to actually unplug the battery entirely, even in a full power-off state (or at least as fully powered off as this particular phone can get at the moment)
(please excuse the slow upload. the video will be live shortly)

It's well out of warranty, I'm not paying to have it fixed, and there is no way anyone at Samsung that will get on the phone to help me will be of any more assistance than I will find here

Yes, my current phone is a Nexus 4. The phone with issues is a NS4G and I dropped sprint like a bad habit earlier this year, so it's just a reference device now.
Uhmmm... Dust into connector? Since the current pins are hard wired to the recharge circuit, maybe there's a short and the battery it's powering it up.

Thanks for the input Dust has occurred to me in the past, and I've done a fair job of cleaning it. Just for the sake of saying I did it, I dusted it again, and this time I even unscrewed the back cover and dusted everything I could reach...much more of a teardown and I'm wandering down a road I don't want to go down....reassembly isn't my strong point. I can take anything apart without a problem...putting it back together is another story entirely lol
Anyway, I cleaned everywhere I could reach thoroughly...still happening, unfortunately.
Thank you for the input, though. You are correct that a big enough dust bunny could cause a short
Ive been having rebooting issues with my sensation for like a month and a half now, and i think that the problem with it is it keeps overheating, so i thought it may be a good idea to put it in the freezer for half an hour.
After taking it out i removed the frost off it and let it sit for about 10 minutes, it came on but kept on freezing. so then i left it overnight to defrost and i tried again in the morning. It came on but froze again.
Now it doesnt come on, what should i do? :crying:

RIP HTC Sensation
Putting the phone in freezer without inert atmosphere (or at the very least dry) is a recipe for disaster.
Most likely moisture is short circuiting your device.
IF NOTHING WORKS (and you do not wish to send your phone to HTC):
***WARNING***: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Leave the device without cover in the sun. Monitor it's temperature. IT SHOULDN'T at any moment feel hot (if it does take it out immediately).
This might get rid of the moisture. Poor chances though.

Hey
Last weekend i dropped my nexus 5 in the water during a night out. After a few days drying in a sealed box with rice I turned it back on and it seemed fine. Unfortunaly after a few hours after rebooting it stopped working. When plugging in the battery logo pops up and the little logo with battery % comes up but remains at zero after charging for a while.
I'm running slimkat and when i boot into recovery while plugged in it works fine. Just managed to boot it up but in the start screen it says I should connect the charger while the battery circle is turning like it is plugged in and it turned off.
I'm guessing there is a promblem with the charging port or battery. Anyone who has experience with this? should i open my nexus up and get a new charging port/battery? I ordered a wireless charger which should arrive somewhere next week, i guess i can check if the battery is the problem.
thanks in advance
Water can damage just about anything in a phone...And trying to troubleshoot it can be impossible and costly. Best to save your money and put it towards a new device, instead of replacing hardware ....just to find out something else is still wrong after replacing a component.
Just my 2 cents. ?
The motherboard is probably fried lol why would you use it when it's still wet

I let it dry for 6 days
Does it turn on? Yes? Then it isn't bricked or close to being bricked.

True. But it sounds damaged...And it's usually a waste of money replacing hardware trying to fix.

I'll second it. Pretty pointless to try to salvage a water damaged device due to the plethora of things that could've gone wrong!
