From my experience with HTC phones your symptoms looks like you got main board (motherboard) problem which needs replacement. I had my Sensation XL replace by service centre lucky it was under warranty otherwise it would be costly.

Same issue
I just bought an HTC Sensation being sold with "battery issues" on ebay... it has a flashing orange light and refuses to charge when off. I figured the seller probably did not understand the charging issue, since the phone was unlocked, and they didn't have an external way to charge the battery and bring the phone back to life.
However I bought an extra battery and charger .... and I am experiencing the exact same problem. The phone will give one quick vibrate when attempting to power on.
Nothing on screen is displayed. However when I hook the phone up to the laptop it shows a greyed out "removable disk F:" and the computer detects an HTC device in device manager.
Do you guys think that the LCD is dead? At least the phone is showing some signs of life when hooked up to the PC.
HOWEVER, the phone gets very very hot at the bottom of the screen/around the sim slot. Also when I go to ADB devices and ask for it to list devices.... it does not show anything.
Buying this thing was probably not my smartest decision I contacted HTC and the warranty expired 3 weeks ago.

no i think lcd is not broken , motherboard is

I took it apart.... and yeah the motherboard is completely f***ed up. The one connector is destroyed and all of the chipset is completely destroyed on the mainboard. No wonder the bottom of the phone gets so hot.
The phone no longer has a warranty. How much does HTC charge for a mainboard replacement (it needs the bottom board , not the top one with flex cable)???

is the LCD toast? i gotta sensation with a cracked digitizer (which still works 100% when hooked up through hdmi and a tv) but the LCD is completely black.

[Q] Sensation doesn't turn on after charging

Hey all,
I charged my newly Sensation for a whole 24 hours. At the beginning the red LED was on, and it changed after a while to a green light, as it suppose to be.
I was out for couple of hours, and when I came back- the phone won't turn on.
The screen is (sometimes) turned on, and it like screen-black and not off-black. I tried to pull out the battery, and it didn't helped.
None of my computers recognize the device, and the little LED don't light up if it connected to charger nor to the USB.
Is there anyway I can do reset?
What can I do?
(I really can't get it replaced, I bought it from Negri, and I don't live in the USA.. )
Thanks!
try holding the volume rocker down button while pressing the power button, see if anything happens.
I tried, and it didn't helped.
Try this: take the battery out. While holding volume down and power, put the battery back in. This is something from SGS, but maybe it will work.
Swyped from my HTC Sensation
Nope..
(Can Sensation turn on without it's back case?)
I there anyway I can restore to factory settings using a computer or so?

I think this won't help, it looks like a hardware problem, motherboard failure, I'm not 100% sure though, may be some of the more experienced guys here can help.

That's what I was afraid of.
How can I know if that included with my warranty?
I had this same problem with my first sensation and all i did was take the battery out then hold just the power button and put the battery back in. Like I said "first sensation" it had other problems too.
hope this helps

Well, that didn't work either.
Altho, I must say that knowing that someone else had a situation like that, does help.
Thanks!
Arrrrggg....
Changing the phone now will be a pain in the **..
I'll have to send it back to US, and wish they will replace it for me?
Anyone know what's HTC warranty policy?
HTC gives global warranty to every unit, or it's depends on the reseller?
Thanks..
Whilst I can't help you with the warranty, an email to HTC will tell you exactly what's what.
What I can share with you is that it seems a complete hardware failure has happened on more than just a few isolated examples of the handset.
My first one crashed when pairing bluetooth, I pulled the battery, and from that point, it wouldn't do a thing. No power, no USB recognising on the PC or anything. I went back to my carrier, and they replaced it directly for me.
I can tell you that there are more than just a few of us who have experienced this problem... what causes it - who knows... there is rumour at the moment about a build-up of static causing the touch-screen to fail - if that static goes in the wrong direction... it could easily fry your phone.
My advice - keep it physically 'stock - don't put any covers or anything on, to minimise the build-up of static - JUST IN CASE this is the issue.
Thanks niddnet,
It is good to know it not necessarily my fault.
Is it common that new phones have problems like that? I must say it's really shocking. Phone dies in a middle of BT pairing!? Weird.

Touchscreen and lower 4 buttons not working

Hello,
My sensation's screen and lower 4 buttons do not work,
I can boot into recovery,
the volume and power buttons work
but i cannot flash any aroma rom and if i flash a non aroma rom i cannot get through the unlock phone phase. the problem is with the touch buttons and the screen.
also the phone is heating up allot when plugged in.
Please help, i am an american student studying in europe and sadly cannot afford another phone (especially here in turkey where they have 87% tax + retailer profit added to the sale price.

it has been a while, i got a sensation xl off of a friend, but still it is no where near close to filling the void of the sensation 4g =( plus i feel guilty for keeping someone else's phone for such a prolonged period of time. I have tried ruu's no avail =(. I guess maybe the only solution is a takeapart? maybe there is a loose ribbon or something?
I learned I can flash aroma roms by using the volume toggles. But it cannot be a software issue as all roms flash, but when they do i cannot unlock the phone, and in recovery the back button does not work. The screen and the bottom four buttons just don't want to cooperate for some bizarre reason. when the phone stays on for over 5 or six minutes the bottom of the phone where the buttons are gets very hot.
please is there anyone out there that could help me? I honestly would mean allot.
So I took the phone apart, there were no loose cables, put it back together it still boots, recovery still works, vibration still works
but the touch sensitive buttons dont and the screen does not
does this mean i need a new digitizer/screen? If so I can find one here for 60 usd.
some one please help, I dont want to rush and buy it and find out that it is a bust.
Is there anyone out there?

[Hardware/Troubleshooting] Z5 Dual E6683 not booting

It happened when I was normally using, no overheat, 84% battery remained. The phone was hanged and screen turn deep blue. I turn it off by using Power and Volume +. And It has never booted again :crying: . Unfortunately my phone was out of warranty. I've pressed and held the power button. The hard reset is not working. I tried pressing the off button near the SIM and tried turning it on again. But nothing happened. Also when I hook it onto the charger the notification light doesn't light up. PC Companion isn't recognizing it either. I've charged it for many hours, the mainboard warmed up but battery still cold. Even I removed the battery and charged it directly via a power supply machine but no use. It's a really bad hardware problem. May I have to replace the mainboard or just power management IC (PMi8994 and PM8994)? Sorry for my bad English

Send your device to warranty, they can't understand if the phone is bootloader unlocked or not because when you change the motherboard, the bootloader will come locked (bootloader is related to motherboard)

Unfortunately when my phone was dead, the warranty had expired for a week. If i send it to local support i bet they will replace the whole motherboard and take from me $200. But when I opened the motherboard and emi shield, i found the problem was around PMi8994 power management IC. I will repair soon and may be it just costs $10 lol

Hi! Did you manage to solve the problem?? My warranty is gone too and have the same problem and I want to know if you changed only the power management.

I can't factory reset my phone

For the last couple of weeks I was unable to restart my phone without a yellowish little box with white stripes (5mmx5mm) appearing in the center of the screen I can't even reset it to factory settings because of this. If I want to turn my phone back on I need to let it stay like that for 10-15 minutes than restart it again and it turns on. If I try to restart it right away it comes back. My phone is an Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 5.5 (6045Y) with android 6.0.1.
Are you trying to let the phone boot normally by only pressing the power button or trying to enter recovery mode by pressing volume and power?

I'm trying both. But the same thing is happening. When the phone turns on the little box appears and I can't do anything.
This was happening for the last couple of weeks but after 15 minutes I could turn my phone back on but today I couldn't turn my mobile data on so I restarted the phone couple of hours ago and since then I can't turn it back on.
Sounds like a possible hardware problem. Any way to get it resolved under the manufacturer's warranty?

Yeah I begin to think that is a hardware problem because I had to change the screen couple of months ago but the problem appeared couple of weeks ago.
The warranty has expired in december so I will have to deal with this phone for now.
Thank you anyway for your replies.
Good luck with the repair.
Since the problem appears before the ROM loads, it's probably hardware-related. Was the phone recently dropped?

No first it started having random inputs on the screen. It would fix by locking and unlocking the phone but then I would get really laggy so after rebooting the phone the little box appeared.

Not for this phone in particular, but from my past experience with replacing screens on different phones (at least half a dozen times)...
Since you had your screen replaced, and you are having a couple of different symptoms that seem to be hardware-related, I would suggest checking the connectors first. It's possible that a connector got dirty or oxidized, or was not attached properly. If you did the job yourself, it shouldn't be a problem for you to check this. If you had a repair shop do it, see if you can get them to look into it.
Another possibility is that the replacement screen assembly might be defective...

Yes it was a fall but I don't think that was the cause for the recent problems I have. Actually in the last couple of days I think I found the real cause. The power button is not working properly so I have to press it really hard in order to unlock my phone. This however was very annoying so I started using an external battery in order to unlock the phone ( When I plug in the phone it unlocks). And since I stopped using the power button almost all problems stopped. ( I said almost because the phone has still random inputs but not as severe as before)
