Ok so my htc sensation has been working fine, had some roms flashed eg its rooted ofcourse ok but recently like in past couple of days when ever id turn the phone on its fine, once it goes to sleep/lock screen.. nothing it turns on but i cant touch anything it doesnt swipe and even if i hold the power button i have to pull out the battery.. it doesnt make sense to be a hardware issue since it works fine before hand.
Just tried to restore it to a old rom.. no luck once it goes into lockscreen..bye bye touchscreen..FKN
Update. ran OTA's on vemon rom... No help. turned off sleep mode at all in the hopes id be able to keep it on to reply to msg... this is screwed.
Edit: I called my phone and the touchscreen worked until i locked it...so i doubt its hardware issues because that it respond's when receiving a call.
hi, i think my problem somewhat was EXACTLY yours.
see, use your battery all the way til it shuts down. then pull out the battery and let it stay still over a night WITHOUT THE BATTERY IN IT.
afterwards, re-insert the battery and plug your phone into charge, but beware you WILL NOT TOUCH THE SCREEN AT ALL! then let it recharge fully and then check it out.
(in case it did not work, put a little portion of some alluminium foil on the little metal thing, a connector which connects the back of the phone to the cover then try again.)

For the past two weeks or so my Sensation 4G has been acting strange. The screen randomly goes black and the only way I can get it working again is to pull the battery. Whats odd is that when the screen is black all the buttons at the bottom are still lit up, and when I touch them the phone vibrates just as it does usually. It seems as if the backlight has just turned itself off and doesnt want to come back on! Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, what is the remedy?

Nope, its as stock as the day I bought it from Tmobile.
Not happened here, but it is an issue that has popped up on the evo 3d. In fact phandroid just ran an article about it. Most people with the problem seem to be 100% stock.
The odd thing is that it only just started happening and I have had the phone for a while.
Happened to me too a few times. Gotta pull the battery everytime. I'm not sure what's the cause of it
Try a factory reset, and if that doesnt work, take it in, and get a replacement.
Its just irritating (and infrequent) at this time, so I am not sure I want to return it yet. If it becomes any more frequent I will certainly send it back however. I am thinking of getting a replacement anyway given that I also have the infamous dust under the screen issue.
Hello Guys,
Tuesday night i kept my phone on charging, next morning the phone didnt repond on the wake button, tried several times no help, removed the battery and restarted the device but it took it around 30 minutes to boot up, but the touch screen didnt worked at all, i tried to format the phone via bootloader (after pulling the battery)on first try no result same issue..non working touch screen, after formatting again it started workign smoothy, but i am again facing the same issue today, phone wont start up, and same issue with non working touch scrren.... cant even pickup an calls.... Need you help on it.. I m on Stock rom 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0 overlay non rooted.. and help or i need to go to gallery to resolve the issue
Hi Zeus,
Firstly - Never, ever pull the battery!!!
There - over and done with. Pulling the battery runs a high risk of causing permanent damage to the eMMC chip. You should (I have never locked up my phone so badly that this doesn't work) hold down the Power, Vol+ and Vol- buttons until the phone shuts down on its own.
You say your phone is no-rooted? I guess that means that you have not run any kind of mod on it, obtained S-OFF or anything else and the phone is, basically, as you bought it? If so then I would recommend that you simply go via HTC or your service provider to obtain a replacement.
If you have not felt the need before now to unock/root your phone then now is not really the ideal time to start doing so if you have a warranty still.

If you are in Mumbai (as on ur profile) , You can visit the HTC Support Centre @ Borivali (Thakkar Mall, near Borivali Station) - http://www.htc.com/in/help/service-center/
Please Note : They will most probably repair the phone (I don't think they replace the phones here in India after the initial 15 days period in which u can claim the Dead on Arrival policy).
Thanks for all the Suggestions,
Have read all the issues regarding emmc chip being fried on Desire S, but being out of town for some day, didnt had any choice but to try, however i let the battery drain completely yest.. recharged the phone to full and then booted again.. and its working fine as of now (didnt worked earlier).. without any issues from last 5 hrs.. lets see how it holds, havent yet installed any of apps yet.. guess will wait for another day or two to see the software fails again to hold.
went borivali, but its not yet started (confirmed with customer care of HTC) still being completed..
but yes.. will visit the Dadar branch if any issue arrises afterwards
Glad to hear its working fine as of now.
Btw , regarding the Borivali Service Centre . . I have been there last month & it is well up & running !
Been there on Friday evening at around 6 but it was closed....then I inquired on customer care which told me its non functional as of now... Will check tomm....
The phones working f9 now...no issues in past 2 days...hope it holds

Guys, I have seen this kind of problem with one of my colleagues phone (Not Desire S but Wildfire S). The reason was (assumed) pretty weird though, it was because of some electrical problem. Whenever he would charge his phone at home - it would start having this kind of problem, but when he charged it at office or through his PC - the problem would vanish!
Although I am not sure if yours is the same case.... but then could be..
Another thing: I got my phone's mobo replace free of cost from HTC (Salora) when it was under warranty even though it was S-Off, Rooted - so I think HTC is a bit lenient in India
The issue it seems has vanished, no issues as of now..no hangups or freezes and yes....both the time the issue arised when the phone was in charging.

Hi guys, I've looked online and couldnt find anything about this issue. So the touch-sensitive buttons on my display light up when I press the home button. The screen doesn't activate or anything ,they just light up . Interestingly enough, they don't do it if I touch the screen or another button at the same time. Weird. Anyone know what the deal is here? Or is it just a wonderfully done job of HTC's?
Second issue, a more common one, but the solutions provided didnt work for me. The screen goes nuts when I plug it into a USB port and sometimes when it's plugged into the mains. I can't use it properly and if I try to type something, it will just go berserk with the keyboard. It's very annoying because I can't control it at all. I have managed to find a way to half-fix it which is: I take any cases I have on the phone and make sure to touch the back of the phone with the same hand that I am using the touch screen with. But I can't use it if I don't do that, and even so it doesnt work all the time.
I tried the "aluminium foil" trick and the "pull the little metal flap" trick, none of them worked at all. Anyone know if there's something I can do?
Just to give you an idea of what I have, the phone is boot-unlocked, s-off -ed (using JuopuntBear) and running Android Revolution HD - with XE and Beats Audio. Using ext4 as recovery. Obviously, my warranty is non-existent at the moment so taking it to my network provider is out of the question (plus, that takes ages and I dont want to be that long without a proper phone).
So, what can I do? IS there anything?
Sorry about the long boring post though.
idk. One search i did said that installing htc sync helped. Other than that or loading up an RUU i couldn't say right now.
So would an RUU just restore me to the stock ROM? Because I wouldnt imagine that to be a solution, since It's been acting up since before I unlocked the boodloader, s-off-ed or did anything to it. also, I had HTC Sync for a while and it still went bananas. Thanks for the advice, hopefully, if this is a hardware problem (which it looks like, at the moment), HTC will say something about it soon.
I lock my phone and about 10 mins later I go to unlock it and the phone powers up meaning that it has been turned off. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the charge of the battery but it keeps doing this. The other week the phone wouldn't respond for about 5 hours I would touch it and the touch screen was completely dead. I locked the phone and then the screen went black and the touch buttons at the bottom lit up and that was it the phone crashed so I needed to restart it and it just wouldn't work. 5 hours later when I woke up it responded and Bare in mind I ran about 5 ruus to get the phone back to stock so it wasn't a software problem. So has anyone else experienced one of these problems. The random shutdown is my issue at the moment. I'm considering returning it for repair because isn't it true that htc have a 2 year warranty in the uk?
Sounds daft but I'd put a piece of folded paper on top of the battery to ensure it has perfect contact and isn't able to move at all.....I have heard of others who have experienced this issue.
I would also see if you could get another battery for a short time and try that just to rule out that it is an issue with the battery.

Doesn't sound daft it's a great Idea. I have blu-tack on the slide off cover at the bottom to keep it from jiggling as one of the plastic clips broke. I will probably test another battery because they aren't exactly expensive. Do you know anything about HTC's warranty int he uk ben_pyett? Thanks for the help

I have heard multiple users that they simply rang HTC up, complained that battery didn't work and got a new one sent out.....so try that....and attempt if possible to hang on to old one, as if it turns out to be device, you get a free battery
Same issue for me, it drove me nuts. Turned out to be a faulty battery when sent off to HTC/Vodafone for repair. They replaced it so I wonder if it's a known issue.

This.
My phone used to shut down randomly and I searched and found out that it is due to the bad design of battery placement in this phone. All I had to do was put a small piece of paper and it has never shutdown till then.
I'm definitely going to try this, I've been getting lots of resets and I'm relieved it's not a rom issue
edit: how many times did you guys fold the paper over?

i had issues with my phone turning off too, had it slightly wet at one point so i took it to a phone repair joint, they replaced a few things charged me and it had the same problems afterwards, a test battery proved it was the bloody battery all along!
the tech there let me know our batteries have a soft edge that when pushed up hard against the battery slot it slightly deforms, seems like a bad design if you look at the battery up close you can see one where the edges get pushed in a bit, (well on mine anyway) the test battery i borrowed didn't have the edges pushed in.
Had this problem too. Paper did the trick.
My HTC 828 is always going off by itself, once I open the camera or put on my mobile data the phone goes off please what should I do?
Me too have same problem..My HTC desire 828 dual sim turning off automatically, mostly when I play any videos or turning on camera. Tried factory reset many times but no use..

Hello,
after my sensation xe got kind of wet (got hit by a waterbaloon...), the touchscreen didn't work anymore. So I removed the akku and dryed it a little, it was not really that wet. Then I switched it on again, but after it showed the htc symbol for a while it switched itself off. I can get into the bootloader, but not into the recovery, if I try it's the same problem.
What is damaged? thanks!
my phone is rooted and I used albinoman's latest rom
EDIT: I just tried to switch it on again, and, it worked. I also tried it yesterday but then it didn't work. But if anybody has an idea why it was that way, please tell me, I am curious

So the problem just disappeared? interesting. It might be the NAND that was wet (or corroded), and somehow it "fell" off. So now you can access it. you're quite lucky if that's the situation. A neighbour of mine once gave me his faulty Desire, and although I got it to boot even further than what a service center could, I couldn't make it boot, as it's NAND was faulty. all I managed to do was to restore it's ability to boot to bootloader.
I once had my sensation under running water. The backlight stopped working and the screen was black. Had to wait a few hours before it dries out and backlight works properly again. Sometimes the backlight flickers and turns off at the HTC logo
Anything can happen when your phone is wet
