ubuntu touch is in development..it can be ported but it's hard!!
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
You can't just flash ubuntu to a phone just like that.
Think of it as trying to teach a monkey to ride a unicycle, it's a lot of hard, complicated work.
There are some options.
One is just to search the market and follow the instructions of one of those apps how to install ubuntu to run inside an android session.
Another is to wait for Ubuntu Touch to be properly ported, as the dude above me mentioned.

All of you are wrong. Ubuntu can be flashed via on nexus devices 4 7 and 10 through multi rom twrp which is two components 1 is a zip file to be flashed in recovery. The other file is flashed in bootloader. That will give you multi rom recovery which allows you to store multiple roms on your device. Meaning no more wiping data etc. Basically when your device powers on you choose the room you want to boot with. You can even boot from usb if you want to save memory. You need version 4 or higher (8 is the most recent)
You also need to flash a kexec kernal or it won't work.
Once you have the multi rom recovery I stalled (twrp)
You can download the ubuntu touch image and flash it. Go to twrp, advanced, ,add rom, choose ubuntu style rom (which is not a zip) and flash it. It will take a while to flash as it's about 1.5 g
Then reboot and you will have a list on the left showing your roms to boot from
Choose ubuntu. It should load fairly quick. If it doesn't and gets stuck on a screen which I will post a pic of go back into twrp advanced list roms choose ubuntu and click patch .inti.d (something like that) and swipe to confirm. Then reboot and try again and it will work. I recommend a mouse and keyboard for ubuntu. But you don't have to. I did this all on my nexus 7. If you don't have a nexus 4 7 or 10 this won't work. And there are videos on you tube showing how to install it using your pc basically saying you need to have ubuntu on your pc to do this. I wouldn't do that if I were you. I learned the hard way that by doing that you will loose everything on your device including all your nandroid backups and be stuck on ubuntu unless you un root them re root. It sacked when I realized I lost everything and got stuck in a soft Brick. And on all the you tube videos none of the people warned you about it either.
I may have left out a few details so if I did don't crucify me as I'm doing this off the top of my head..Here's some screen shots. Last one is the error you may get

That doesn't matter. You don't need to set it up or anything. Once you get a good install on CM9, just reinstall the CM10.
You worried about an official cm9 but not cm10? Lol just giving you a hard time
But yeah flash any ics Rom...it will require a double flash most likely....as in flash like normal, reboot, get stuck on Samsung/cyanogen logo, three finger back to recovery (hold volumes and power) reflash and your good, once you boot up boot back to recovery and flash cm10
Make sure you remove any sdcards before flashing cm10

Post 1 will get you back to stock and post 2 will restore root.
After you are successful with this, flash a CM9 rom such as Entropy's Unofficial build here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601844
Run this for a little while then flash the CM10 rom of your choice.

Go back to stock and start over...your system partition is messed up, what your getting is basically saying it can't find the device info in the build.prop and there fore not flashing it (its a little mechanism that prevents flashing on the wrong device)
So back to stock

Flash cm9
Flash cm10

I was looking for a way to flash CWM touch recovery to my phone without using ODIN. So I took a chance, downloaded the touch recovery .img 6.0.1.2 from the website and use the EZ recovery app to flash it to my phone without using ODIN.
(Use Chrome)
download .img cwm touch 6.0.1.2 http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager

Right click and save as..... that will also download the file in IE or any browser for that matter. It may be "save target as" or some variation, but it will work either way.

Some roms will not flash via touch recovery. I had to go back to the standard recovery to flash CM10.1.
I rooted and tried installing a rom. I got stuck at the samsung logo and tried many things. Odin stopped recognizing my Infuse, I couldn't fix the drivers from seeing my device as Gadget Serial.
I couldn't install the right drivers, so I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331381
And now my Infuse is the bricked. Its at this screen, it comes up in devices as Gadget Serial still, but boots immediately to this screen, doesn't respond to adb either.

It was actually my friends Infuse, he messed it up and we tried fixing it. I've rooted my Captivate, GSII, Inspire GSIII, Touchpad, Kindle and Nexus 7 and flashed many roms on each, so I thought it would be simple. After hours of trying to get it to even boot during school and a 2 and a half hour Skype call, we finally got it to stock ATT Gingerbread.
We couldn't get Odin to even adknowledge the phone even existed on my laptop. He took it home after school and I walked him through it on his computer and we were able to flash stock with Odin. We did try using Heimdal, it kicked it out of this pretty much download mode state, but it was still stuck at the samsung logo.
Moral of the story: I HATE THIS PHONE. (dont really.. hate it.. just reminds me of the dark days of rooting and roms on my captivate...)

If you're just looking to get the right drivers try USBdeview. Run as admin, uninstall all drivers that could be associated with the infuse, plug into the direct motherboard USB port (usually left side or rear) and let Microsoft install the drivers for you.
Rinse and repeat till it works (it will) and/or reboot after uninstall of drivers if that fails and try again.
This was the only way I got my comp and heimdall/Odin to recognize the drivers.

As seen here you can get the files to add the Google L stock keyboard onto your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796129
you have to manual install.
1. extract all files.
2. move the ''LatinImeGoogle.apk'' to /system/app; long press on APK, choose change permissions, now make the ticks like in attached picture.
3. move the ''libjni_latinimegoogle.so'' to /system/lib; like above, long press, & change permissions.
4. reboot system, then go to settings & activate keyboard

Or simply use the .apk for non-rooted devices. That's been working great on my rooted device.
