Can you flash kernels to stock? - T-Mobile LG G2x

If you can which is best for stock

I think faux has a few stock kernels. Some people report that Mazout's new gb kernel is working on stock but I haven't attempted that yet.

Did you wipe cache before flashing? Try the following -
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
3. Flash kernel
4. Fix Permissions
5. Reboot
If that does not work, you could add wipe cache before step 2. Also, this kernel will run at ~1400MHz, some phones cannot take it. Have SetCPU or other clock speed program installed and limit top speed to 1000MHz (only if you can boot in the first place!)

OK I got it thx

Unable to flash kernels

I've tried faux and trinity kernels for CM7 V7.1.0.1 and neither works. If I don't fix permission, I get a blank screen after the LG splash screen. If I do a fix permission. The g2x doesn't load past the boot animation screen. This also happens with Faux ASOP rom as well. This is the first time I've encountered this issue flashing kernels on my phone. Any suggestions?
The kernel is to new for the stable release use the nightlies they are stabler

I tried an older Trinity Kernel which worked but its not compatible with voodoo control. I then tried an older faux kernel (i think it was 0.1.3) and when I reboot the phone. It boot loops into the trinity boot animation.
I know. I guess that's because faux doesn't have his own boot animation. now u have like a 2in 1 - trinity-faux

When I try to open cyanogenmod settings or the browser it just forces close. I'm running on nscollab 1.0.60 with Trinity kernel!

Try installing setcpu and seeing if that fixes it.
Just install it no need to open it.

What do you mean by a fresh install?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
A fresh install means wiping the dalvik cache and factory resetting the phone in recovery mode before flashing the rom. Best use titanium back up if you want to keep your apps

Do you remember doing anything to your phone before the fcs started?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
If it always has been like this, you've most likely corrupted the ROM file during download.
Download it again and install it after doing a factory reset & caches wipe.

Is this on CM7? Are you using a battery saver app? Some of them change apn in which case you have to reset the apn for it to work again (if the app did not enable itself).
I would have a $500 brick if it weren't for nvflash. Thanks Nvidia!

Try using a different kernel as some G2X's prefer the faux-based kernels while others prefer morphic/trinity-based kernels. I agree with mansa_noob - check APN settings as well.

I can say by experience and flashing a bunch of different kernels that my g2x really has a hard on for Trinity kernels. So that's what he gets for now lol

Heads up, you don't need to clear cache or dalvik when flashing a kernel. The kernel doesn't use either of those.
At least that's what Faux says.

Thanks. I haven't been doing that for a long time now (had read it somewhere on xda). The problem is noobs like me who complain about issues all the time and hence I think standard practice has been to suggest a wipe when flashing kernels.
Heck I don't even wipe data when flashing similar ROMs (say CM7 based) .

You need ext 4 support for trinity, so touch CWM won't work. Go to the previous version.
I would have a $500 brick if it weren't for nvflash. Thanks Nvidia!
Also, don't get it from his thread. Go to morfic's site, derkernel.Com and then choose to view the "old site." Under g2x you will see a listing of kernels. Im using the t15 Max oc kernel. I heard his elp (extra low power) builds are great too
Edit- even though wiping the caches may not be necessary, i feel cleaner when i do it lol. Just personal preference i guess
ext 4 support?
I've only ever used touch so I'm out of my element here

try jt's kernel kernel in cwm before you flash jb - try once or twice..just for s/g
OK, question I pulled up the log from cwm a few times and it kept saying something something about mtd which I know is a partition arrangement it is possible that it's just not re writing positions correctly? If so I probably need to learn how to check md5 checksum
