I've tried faux and trinity kernels for CM7 V7.1.0.1 and neither works. If I don't fix permission, I get a blank screen after the LG splash screen. If I do a fix permission. The g2x doesn't load past the boot animation screen. This also happens with Faux ASOP rom as well. This is the first time I've encountered this issue flashing kernels on my phone. Any suggestions?
The kernel is to new for the stable release use the nightlies they are stabler

I tried an older Trinity Kernel which worked but its not compatible with voodoo control. I then tried an older faux kernel (i think it was 0.1.3) and when I reboot the phone. It boot loops into the trinity boot animation.
I know. I guess that's because faux doesn't have his own boot animation. now u have like a 2in 1 - trinity-faux

Go into recovery and go into advanced and disable it from there
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Um I went to recovery and advanced and didn't see the option. My recovery is green and then it switched over to a red one and said voodoo. It happened after I selected "key test" and hit the back button. Also I selected the "reboot in download mode" or something like that and a screen came up saying downloading don't shut off. Well it got stuck so I shut it off haha. But nothing bad happened. Anyways I don't know if I have the option. :/

Haha I will just one more question. Can I simply flash it over the kernel I currently have with out any bad effects. And what will be the difference between the two? Besides maybe fixing the bln issue. And which recovery and I supposed to have? That was three questions actually lol

I suggest flashing the Defuse 1.4 kernel - it doesn't do overclocking but it's solid and stable. Don't flash 1.5 - it has BLN too.
Every attempt to implement BLN on our phones has led to flakiness and instability.
Other option - upgrade to Gingerbread, that's where all the kernel development is these days.

Haha I said screw it and went to Infused. Wanna see how this baby runs on that with the tweaks DynamicRam posted. Thanks for the input guys. I'm honestly going to wait until the OG Gingerbread comes out to upgrade. I love having EVERYTHING on the phone work haha
Hey guys I just opened up SetCPU and the voltage tab went away and so did the overclocking. This happened right after I flashed Infused rom anyone know why? Should I just flash the Kernel over top? I mean I was trying to avoid that because of the bin issue

Defuse isn't an overclock kernel. You have a choice of overclocking with some instability, or stability without overclocking.
NOOB ALERT!
Is there a difference installing kernel with voodoo and a kernel that doesn't have voodoo. Like i have EB 2.3.5 ROM currently with morfic T15 no voodoo and i want to try faux kernel with voodoo. It should be the same installation process right. By the way , i have no problem with the T15 kernel , i just want to try faux kernel. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Check their respective threads first but just wipe cache/dalvik, install kernel, then fix permissions and reboot.
If u want other differences between the kernels I recommend reading the 1st post of each one's thread for an overview.

Installation is the same. If I'm nit mistaken voodoo is something to sound control. Don't know much more then that though, sorry.

Faux123 for Voodoo in the Kernel
Installation for kernel:
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Wipe Batt Stats
Install Kernel
Fix Permissions
Reboot
Awesome. Whats the difference between the two kernels? There were two for custom voltages and 2 for stock voltages. I tried last week with a custom voltage( not the one labeled CM) when I got the phone but I guees I missed the wipe battery stats and fix permissions. So when I booted up all I got was a blank screen after the LG logo. I'll give this a go after work.

I upgraded to the 0524 PBJ by Imnuts. Now on boot the phone goes black for about a minute before it loads the boot animation. I tried to reflash the kernel, then the rom (Tweaked 2.1) and kernel, then going back to stock and reflashing everything, but it still happens.
Did anyone have had this happen? How to fix it?
Appreciate any help
Ps:. Every time I reflashed I wiped everything (data, cache, dalvik), and mounted system.

The change appears to be the timing of the boot animation. It looks like it plays later in the boot sequence than before.

I know, I will stay with this though. I wonder if there is a way to fix this. I will never go back to stock kernel unless going back to stock rom. But the minfree fix is awesome, don't like doing it the app way.

I used rom manager, and memory booster (I think this is it). My issue with these programs is that they take too long to get clearance from super user and the boot takes too long.

I am pretty sure that the minfree fix is implemented in /system/etc/init.d/S91voltctrl not the kernel itself. Copying that script should work fine for any old PBJ kernel.

Did you wipe cache before flashing? Try the following -
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
3. Flash kernel
4. Fix Permissions
5. Reboot
If that does not work, you could add wipe cache before step 2. Also, this kernel will run at ~1400MHz, some phones cannot take it. Have SetCPU or other clock speed program installed and limit top speed to 1000MHz (only if you can boot in the first place!)
OK I got it thx
