installing custom kernel - T-Mobile LG G2x

hi all, I'm trying to find a guide on installing a kernel. looking to install a OC/UV with voodoo kernel. With CM7 or possible weapon rom. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same as a rom just wipe cache and dalvik

Faux123 for Voodoo in the Kernel
Installation for kernel:
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Wipe Batt Stats
Install Kernel
Fix Permissions
Reboot

Awesome. Whats the difference between the two kernels? There were two for custom voltages and 2 for stock voltages. I tried last week with a custom voltage( not the one labeled CM) when I got the phone but I guees I missed the wipe battery stats and fix permissions. So when I booted up all I got was a blank screen after the LG logo. I'll give this a go after work.

Superclean ROM for Showcase

We are supposed to have an ec10 voodoo kernel to use with the ROM. Do we flash the kernel and ROM at the same time when installing or do we flash the kernel in recovery, disable lag fix, and then boot back into recovery and flash the ROM? Sorry for the noob question and thanks in advance.

If you are currently using a voodoo kernel disable lagfix before flashing anything. Flash kernel first. Once it is installed wipe cache, then data. Still in recovery flash ROM, then reboot and enjoy.
Ok thanks. I got it running on here now. Works great and is awesome.

Kernel with voodoo

NOOB ALERT!
Is there a difference installing kernel with voodoo and a kernel that doesn't have voodoo. Like i have EB 2.3.5 ROM currently with morfic T15 no voodoo and i want to try faux kernel with voodoo. It should be the same installation process right. By the way , i have no problem with the T15 kernel , i just want to try faux kernel. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Check their respective threads first but just wipe cache/dalvik, install kernel, then fix permissions and reboot.
If u want other differences between the kernels I recommend reading the 1st post of each one's thread for an overview.

Installation is the same. If I'm nit mistaken voodoo is something to sound control. Don't know much more then that though, sorry.

Unable to flash kernels

I've tried faux and trinity kernels for CM7 V7.1.0.1 and neither works. If I don't fix permission, I get a blank screen after the LG splash screen. If I do a fix permission. The g2x doesn't load past the boot animation screen. This also happens with Faux ASOP rom as well. This is the first time I've encountered this issue flashing kernels on my phone. Any suggestions?
The kernel is to new for the stable release use the nightlies they are stabler

I tried an older Trinity Kernel which worked but its not compatible with voodoo control. I then tried an older faux kernel (i think it was 0.1.3) and when I reboot the phone. It boot loops into the trinity boot animation.
I know. I guess that's because faux doesn't have his own boot animation. now u have like a 2in 1 - trinity-faux

I think faux has a few stock kernels. Some people report that Mazout's new gb kernel is working on stock but I haven't attempted that yet.

Did you wipe cache before flashing? Try the following -
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
3. Flash kernel
4. Fix Permissions
5. Reboot
If that does not work, you could add wipe cache before step 2. Also, this kernel will run at ~1400MHz, some phones cannot take it. Have SetCPU or other clock speed program installed and limit top speed to 1000MHz (only if you can boot in the first place!)
OK I got it thx
