[GSM Only] CM10 port for Photon Q - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

This is a CM10 (Jelly Bean, Android 4.1.2) firmware for Photon Q, and at this state only for those who made the SIM card mod and using it on GSM. It's not a official CyanogenMod, not supported by the CM team.
CDMA is being worked on by interloper and arrrghhh.
Credits: CM10 port for Photon Q is made by Skrilax_CZ and nadlabak. Futher credits go to epinter for RAZR HD port - with which this port shares a lot, also collaborated with Hashcode. And of course, CyanogenMod Team.

Thank you, this is great! I will try this ROM. When do you think GPS and Bluetooth work?

Fantastic, thanks.
Do you think GPS can be made to work?

Wow guys, maybe let it go through a few revisions first? lol.
Good work Skrilax_CZ - was hoping you would post an official thread soon .

Good work, finally seeing some CM!

lol, what about phone calls?

Sadly no, for outgoing calls an error message pops up saying com.android.phone has stopped, but if you don't press ok the phone you were calling will keep ringing. Incoming calls won't even connect at all.

omg i want this so bad. is this CM 10.1?
can we get an option to mount the external sd card as /sdcard?

Yea, I'm trying to figure out why... I was really hoping it was a simple build.prop thing, but it seems to be deeper than that....
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! I've build this thing from source many times now and I was able to get 1xRTT data... but I never got phone calls to function properly. com.android.phone keeps imploding...

CM10. 10.1 has cam issues on similar moto hardware, so Skrilax_CZ went with CM10...
As for an option to mount the external SD card as /sdcard, I assume you could just "do this" - I don't see why the option needs to be provided? Also, what would you do with the "internal" SD? Odd request.

An external card option was added to CM for the original photon, so I was hoping the same could be done for the Q. See screenshot.

If it's a part of CM, then I don't see why it wouldn't be available. Did you look and see it wasn't available...?
Does this option "combine" the external SD and internal SD? Interesting if so, wondering how it achieves this. The whole internal/external SD thing seems kind of half-baked to be honest.

By default a lot of apps use /sdsard so if you want to use your own external sdcard or bring it over from an old phone this option allows you to mount it as /sdcard instead of Moto's internal card.
I haven't flashed the ROM yet because I'm a CDMA guy, so I don't know if it's built in to CM.

It's not in the CM itself, this is part of the device specific settings. I haven't made it yet (for things like multipress, i.e in CZ press 'o' twice fast and it will write 'ó' etc.). Anyway, right, it's not difficult to do at all and I like that option too.
As for CM10.1, it's likely we'll be doing it together with RAZR HD / RAZR M guys, however, there are some things that need to be fixed in their sources to make it work on our phone (such as display driver; this will take some time). And also Camera isn't working on it, as it was rewritten in 4.2 - will also take time. So I picked CM10 first, to know the differences between this phone and the other QC phones from Moto and so we have something that works (when the GPS / CDMA gets fixed).

I've also pinpointed other issues while testing it. It appears suspend / resume is sometimes not working properly (extremely poor battery life may occur) - which sucks hard. Compared to stock ROM, audio speaker is too low too.

Quadrant scores in v2.0(Screen Capture in original Chinese post.
Basic Info:
Android Version:2.2.1
Baseband Version:ZHKB4
Kernel Version:2.6.32.9
Firmware:ZCKC1
ROM Features:
Preinstalled:
Gmail
Android Market
TouchWiz 4 (or 4.5 in v2.1)
Other Features:
No Camera Sound (Just mute system volume to do it)
Deodexed
Zipalign
Rooted
Ext4 (Only in v2.0 or higher)
Advanced power menu (Including Reboot, Reboot to Recovery and Reboot to Download Mode)
Replace your CWM with an internal SD version
Filp to mute sound
Pick up phone to decrescando
Added Data on-off option on status bar (Up to 6 controls)
Numeric Battery
Bugs:
Can't charge your phone when your phone is shut down. (Happened in v2.0 or higher.)
You will get bootloop if you install v2.0 of this ROM directly if you are using the external sd version of CWM (I believe most of you have installed this version). So install v1.2 first. Please refer to installation guide.
A few users of this ROM said once they installed v2.0 and reboot, all contacts stored in their SIM card were all erased! But I had never face this problem.
Complete installation guide: (Highly recommended to follow 100%)
Please make sure CWM is installed!
Download v1.2 first and put into /sdcard (If you installed external sd version of CWM, put into your real sd card, it does't matter if you have already swap your internal sd and external sd card, just put into your real external sd card)
Boot into your Clockwork Mod Recovery
Choose install zip from sdcard ==》 choose zip from sdcard ==》Then select Catro_ZCKC1_V1.2_CWM.zip to install. (Notice that if you want to select anything, please use MENU button but not HOME button!)
After the installation is complete, reboot and you will now have the Catro ROM v1.2.
If you want to continue to install v2.0, just keep on follow me.
Because v2.0 used ext4 file system, converting to ext4 used to format all user data (sd card is not included), if you want to keep your own data, please follow my steps: (If you don't want to keep your user data, please skip.)
Go to CWM and choose backup, PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE IN YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD. (Once you installed Catro ROM v1.2, your CWM will automatically replaced with the internal sd version.)
Download v2.0 and put into your internal sd card.
Before you flash your v2.0 ROM, please take out your External sd card from your phone first. (Because I experienced that if you choose "wipe" option from CWM internal sd version, your external sd will also get wiped! Better to take out your external sd before you choose wipe from CWM)
Flash v2.0 in your phone via CWM (This time will be a bit longer for CWM to install, be patient.)
After v2.0 was installed, go back to CWM and choose "restore" from previous backup.
Then Flash the update package (Catro_ZCKC1_V1.x-V2.0.zip) to regain Numeric battery function.
Installation of Catro is now complete, you can download the attachment and update to v2.1 as well, but the TWlauncher 4.5 in v2.1 was written in Chinese, so I suggest you'd better to install the English one by your self.
Remarks: Because it is a ROM based on Asia Firmware ZCKC1, although there are English provided, but the addictive options in advanced power menu (Reboot, Recovery and Download Mode) were in Chinese. This could make you guys a bit inconvenient, but just remember their order is okay. Reboot option is right after Power off, followed by Recovery, Download Mode is the last one.
Download:
Catro_ZCKC1_v1.2.zip
Catro_ZCKC1_v2.0.zip

Well, there are already 3 different ROMs released in China. This Catro was the last one (but also the best) The others are not quite popular in China either. So I think the first custom ROM for i9003 actually is in China.
Chinese are fast... But rest of World never know what's going on there due to language and political policy problems. For example if you search custom rom on google then you will never find Chinese search result but they will tell you xda only.
Google is patriotic baised US company. But time now changing.

Actually China is way advanced. Korea and HK have had android since the Huwawei latest model's kicked in, Tbh? The Huwawei model's are really epic, They're responsible for most 3G USB Modem's that major telecom services use. Also the Huwawei android version is very stable and with tons of epic features, Have you seen their contact transfer system? It's like Bump, But way more epic.

This minor bug is also present in CM10 (all builds), yes.
Nice job Skrilax and nadlabak
I want to try it but I think I will wait until video recording will be OK.
I heard that new kernel is needed? Who is developing this new kernel (if someone is doing this)? Motorola or it must be some modified custom kernel?
And what is wrong with keyboard backlight? Is it non-working at all or it's just some problem with automatic turning on and off?

3.4 kernel is in work by Hashcode, this uses heavily patched 3.0.y kernel (shared with all Motorola QC phones on MSM8960) and I don't expect that video camera will work until 3.4 kernel is used.
Keyboard backlight works, only automatic brightness will not work (yet).
I have an issue flashing ROM from 29/04/2013.
The are two errors (chown 0 1000 and chmod 750) to the /system/bin/iptables binary, because the file does not exist.

I already thought about this. The md5sum is correct. I have the same problem with the build from today.
Maybe I'm having issues with my external sdcard, i discovered some strange files on it.
---------- Post added at 09:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:00 AM ----------
Well... Seems like a sdcard issue. Flashing from internal storage worked perfectly.:good:
Please remember that in regard to CDMA, we totally rely on your feedback.
Just let us know what works and what not, thanks.
So Stock JB is needed to use this? Where could I get that, from my understanding I´d have to wait for the OTA or use the SOAK, right?
Anyway, as long as Video ain´t working, CM10 will do fine
At the moment I'm at the ROM of 30/04/2013. But I can't upgrad the the one from 01/05/2013 or 02/05/2013. Checksum is correct, ROM has been loaded from internal storage, so this can't be an issue with the external sd card. Unfortunately I can't find the recovery.log file. It is not at /sdcard/clockworkmod where it should have been copied to.
An other issue I have is with NFC. On the CM10.0 build there was a point in the settings under "wireless&networks/more" where NFC could be activated/deactivated and so on. At the CM10.1 build there is nothing. So I can't test if it works or not. Could you reactivate this please?
Also if you enable NFC it would be great to have a point for NFC in the quick settings.

Great, thank you! :good:
So I only have to understand why the flashing doesn't work for me.
Ok, I was able to flash the last two ROMs.
NFC works!
But you should add the following to the build.prop:
Code:
#NFC
debug.nfc.fw_download=true
debug.nfc.se=true
This enables nfc for the Play Store. Otherwise it is not possible to get nfc specific apps like nfc taginfo and several others!

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE FLASHING!
1. If you flash this ROM from Stock ROM, it will wipe data due to different partitioning. The device would reboot while flashing and resume again.
2. Once on this ROM, the most effective way of going back to any other ROM would be to repartition from Odin.
3. While converting the filesystem, your efs that has your IMEI is backed up to /emmc/backup/efs. Keep a backup on your PC just in case.
4. Incase if you don't get a network signal, check if your IMEI and Baseband are proper. If not, go back to stock and try again.
5. Do NOT use Odin to flash Modems. Due to different partitions, Odin will screw up your existing MTD setup.
Stock ROM
1. Flash CWM Compatible Kernel (CF ROOT)
2. Reboot to Recovery.
3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
6. Reboot to Recovery Again.
7. Flash Google Apps.
8. Reboot
Any other AOSP ROM (CM7/MIUI/CM9)
1. Reboot to Recovery.
3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
6. Reboot to Recovery Again.

Here is a fix to use the navigation bar resized comfortably for our i9003
you can activate and adjust the extended desktop on 'status bar visible' and use PIE without the navigation bar.
Change resources unsigned only 100% clean !

Code:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">true</bool>
framework-res\res\values\dimens.xml
Code:
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height">25.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height_landscape">32.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_width">21.0dip</dimen>
enjoy...
Had 1 sod with default governor and i/o scheduler, had hot boot trying to install an app and unable to install a banking app,(Play store says device non compatible with this app).
Screen tear is barely unnoticeable. BT and wifi woks flawesly.
Reboot option turns off the phone, not necesary to pull the battery to boot up.
Its a smooth rom, much more than i expected for a first release.
Needed some battery cicles to have a good report of battery life.
Good rom, thanks god dhiru.

The battery life on idle is pretty good. I suspect maybe some driver might be misbehaving when it comes to battery drain. Thanks to Samsung for all those useless crap drivers.

First build is up (for GSM, CDMA in a couple of minutes). I havent' tested myself yet, but people for RAZR HD say it's just as useable as CM10.1.

Hey, umm, I feel weird asking but did you need to do anything different to build the source than CM-10.1?
When building mine stops (with errors) at either Focal or Alsa, with "make -i -k" I can't get it to make a flashable zip only the IMG's.
If nothing different, what Java and GCC version are you using?
((As I have said in other posts though, I build from source to save bandwidth, learn, and maybe contribute. Not to re-brand anybodys hard work.))
Can I use these gapps with 4.2.2?

Correct me if I am wrong, I do not think so though. 4.3 is a different API level than 4.2.2 so it will need it's own version of Gapps.

Just this. See http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/46875/ .
Hey Skrillax, thanks!
Unfortunately, with me, It stays at the boot screen forever.
I have no idea what I should do to make it work.
Well it seems to be a long filesystem check. Give it 4 - 5 minutes first. I'm still on 4.2.2.
Hello again: I reached the welcome screen, finally. Unfortunately, there has been a chain of force-closes (never-ending). Should I start it all over or is it better to wait for a few more days?
Thanks again, mate.
I myself will wait until they start rolling nightlies for CM10.2 (at least Nexus 4).
You'll get a lot FC's at first. Let it be and after data comes up,force closes will be disappeared.
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2
i am on the nightly from 03.08.2013 cm10.2 gsm version and it is running stable. only 1 force close after first boot and the finishing of the configuration (like languag setup, google acc. etc), this force close is from the clock but only this one time. this was the only fc until now.
the wifi/data/mobile phone connection seems good too.

how to get root back:
1. Settings --> About Phone --> Tap 7 times on Build-Number. now you should have the deeloper options back.
2. Settings --> Developer options --> Root-Access. select here "Apps & ADB
3. activate USB Debugging.
4. Reboot, finish now you should have root again.
Silly Me
Updated ADB in the sdk dir., but kept running the bat file in the old dir.

Installation (Same as CM11)
If you're still on Gingerbread or older, follow lumin's guide here. You need CWM 5 with the blue text:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
Once you have blue CWM5, just flash the ROM. It will automatically continue flashing using TWRP once your phone restarts. After the flash is done the phone will continue to boot into CM11, no need for a 2nd flash.
If you're already on any ROM newer than ICS, just follow the instructions below.
Download the ROM and optionally gapps and put them on your SD Card
Make a backup of your current ROM and apps using both Titanium backup and with TWRP/CWM.
Do a factory reset (full wipes for safety)
Flash the ROM and gapps
Wait another 5 minutes after you see your phone boot fully. This will let all the dust settle.
For root open SuperSU and install the latest su binary.
If you are upgrading from an older build of this ROM, you can probably get away with dirty flashing (not doing a factory reset between flashes) but if you run into any issues, do a full phone wipe (wipe system, data and cache) then flash the new version of the ROM.

we have a little problem?
well icant move may apps to SD?
i try to Disable app moving reboot then Enable app moving reboot. but nothing happens.
i also try to move it via Titanium backup but still its did not move.?
I used titanium to freeze and remove a few apps without any problems. I didn't move though. Insane battery life (with no SIM card). I'm still trying to play with the cool features. Shake works. I haven't figured out what the crt is about though.
