Hi!
I have a S4 device with a stock rom, sense 4+.
Before rooting i want to know if there's a method to unroot and restore my warranty back.I read that with classic method it will show "restored" or something..
thanks
AW: [S4][Q] How to unroot and restore warranty.
Your bootloader will say "relocked" when you restore your phone to stock.
But I think you can still send your phone to repair if you are on stock rom and recovery.
One method is to run a RUU (you have to be relocked) this will put your phone back to factory status, but this will only work when you are on hboot <2.15
The other method is shown here:

As the question says, I finally could root my 1.85 HOXL but I can't unlock the bootloader with all the methods I have tried, my main goal is to install the viperxl rom and receive the ota updates from them, so I ask you if I can flash that rom even if I'm not bootloader unlocked?
Thanks for the response guys and excuse me but I'm afraid of bricking my phone...

No, there is no risk in the bootloader unlock anyway. It was developed by HTC
I suggest you read around and have everything downloaded before doing so. The bricking threads about the bootloader unlock are from stupidity. If you understand what you're doing or atleast follow directions you will be fine
If you need help there's always someone here

No.
Where are you getting stuck?

I see from your other post here that your issue is just lack of knowledge, rather than the SuperCID methods not working.
In that case, agree with superchilpil that you should read/learn more before proceeding. Its really not that hard, once you've done the research, and follow the instructions carefully.
i have done my rooting
screwed up though thought i did a back up but no
i did a backup with titanium and thats not going to get me back to original rom (or is it?)
so my question is do i need a stock rom to get back or is there another way
i have done some research and see nomention of needing a stock rom but i just want to make sure before i attempt it
thanks again guys

You can flash a rooted stock rom. There are several in the development forum.
ive been doing more reading as well i see i can install a ruu from rogers as well if im reading correctly
after i get rid of the s/u files and after i lock the bootloader?
is that what you mean by rooted stock roms
thanks elvis
What he means is you don't have to ruu back to stock and relock bootloader. You can just flash a sense ROM. However if you have hboot 1.14 you'll have to flash the boot IMG in adb.
If your rooted with 2.20 firmware and 1.14 hboot? I can send you a link with some walkthrough if you'd like?

my hboot is 1.11.0000 i believe its 2.20 build number is 2.20502.7cl79936 hope that makes sense
remember im still wet behind the ears with this stuff so speak in rooting for dummies language lol
i will take all the help i can get
thanks subaru

I looked around and I don't think you'll have to flash the boot IMG with you hboot. I'll ask one of the devs and see if he'll respond.

you only need to flash boot.img for 1.14 or higher (higher doesn't exist, yet)
The new update for the One XL came out a few weeks ago, and I updated my phone, before the update, my phone was s-off, now, its s-on D:
My Software number now is 5.05.707.1
Kernel Version is 3.4.10-g5f4de050
Android version is 4.2 2
Hboot version is 2.15
Bootloader is unlocked
Just wondering, is it possible to s-off again? And what TWRP2 version do I flash for my phone, can you post a link please? I might want to flash it.
All help is greatly appreciated

Turn off your phone, and when you want to turn it on, hold down the power button and the Volume Down button. And then you will enter bootloader mode. The top left tells you whether your bootloader is unlocked or not (*UNLOCKED* or *LOCKED*) If there is a *TAMPERED* above it, it means that your phone is rooted

You sure? Its very unusual for an update to have changed the security flag. Has anyone else that has updated to Sense 5 experienced this?
Root for any version except AT&T (US) is the same as before just unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com, install custom recovery, and flash SU or a rooted ROM.
Since your bootloader is unlocked, that step does not need to be done. To find TWRP just look at my Index thread sticky at the top of the General forum; or just look in Development.
If you want s-off again, then SuperCID (if not any longer) and try the facepalm exploit again. I don't know if anyone has verified if it still works after the Sense 5 update. But if not, the only way to find out, is to try it . . .

Why on earth did you update, if the goal was to get on CM10.1???
I can't understand why folks are so anxious to install a new OTA, when they are already modded. And I don't think you know why you did it, either.
i been struggling to find some solution on how to update via ota. i downloaded the file and when i was installing it stop at halfway and then it shows a red triangle caution sign. and after a minute it reboots, and nothing happened. my device is k2_ul asian version. and i cant find any RUU for it.
Are you S-Off? S-On? locked bootloader? unlocked bootloader? custom hboot? Custom boot? Missing system apps or files in general?
In other words, your phone must be restored to stock in everything or the ota will fail. This includes the recovery as well. CWM or TWRP will not work for OTA's at the moment. S-On or S-Off won't render you from getting your OTA. The purpose of knowing it is so one will know what steps to take depending on the problem at hand.

the current image version on my phone is 3.20.502.52 so its seems my phone came with that installed.. its shows in the htc android phone update utility 1.0.6.2023 from " image version 3.20.502 to image version 3.20.502.52".... when i click next it restarts the boot loader.. shows erasing data followed by sending.."then i get an error 155.. the rom update utility cannot update your android phone please get the correct rom update utility and try again"
hey
also when i get the error and un plug my phone it shows ruu update failed.. i do a battery pull several time and the phone bootup with no change and getting the same errors
OK. The code means that u already have that firmware. Its saying since u already have that fw installed.

First of all, you're root right? (my first guess microsd-related-problem)
Have you got a spare microsd (one that you absolutely sure it's working and is not the one you're using in your phone)?
Did anyone open the phone?(psysically). From what it looks it might be a H/W issue (if you did all the appropriate software approach)
P.S. H/W meaning ram issue, also how old is the phone?
