Saw it on The Verge. I'm wondering if the magnets will be able to hold it up with a bumper on. The image shows that the diameter of the orb is larger than the width of the phone meaning a bumper would stop it from touching the base of the orb... meaning the magnets might not be as strong. I would much rather wait for a video review of peoples experience.
There are two other thread with the same information.

You need to take the case off to use this? I also like to use my device while its charging on the cable so this is not that great of an idea imho.
interesting image they are showing on the n4 when it is docked. Is that an existing view I can get to or something new when you dock to this thing?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you do. I tried using the phone (and the case) with the Nokia Lumia wireless charger in an O2 Store and it worked fine.

I'm thinking you might need to take off the case for the magnets to latch onto the phone though. I'm worried even with the OEM bumper the phone won't sit properly.

I really hope the magnets will still work when using a case
I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that the magnets will still work with the thin TPU cases out there. Reason being, the Nexus 4, when nude, is as slick as greased moose poo and is going to require a fair amount of magnetic pull to keep it from sliding off of the Orb. The TPU cases will probably lessen the pull, but will instead add additional friction, so I'm guessing they'll cancel each other out.
Pure speculation, but that's how I'm rationalizing buying one

I assume they made the OEM bumper the way it is (thin as heck with very little lip) so that it would work with the OEM wireless charger. Only makes sense, but I wouldn't put it past Google/LG to mess this up.
What is the Battery status app being displayed? maybe it comes up when connected to charger 0_o

I laughed at the moose poo! It really does try to slowly sneak towards and edge if you leave it on a glass table or tiled area. I've had a few near drops.
Does anyone else question the usefulness of wireless charging? I think it's quite cool and all that, but it's hardly like plugging in a micro usb cord is especially time consuming. Does anybody know if it charges faster than micro usb? This may be a silly question, but can you charge the phone using both the usb and charging org, in order to charge it quicker?

I got tired of waiting for a charger next to the bed. I came across this on Amazon:
http://goo.gl/TCXCw
Its the Samsung desktop charger. If you look at the image of it,it fits my nexus 4 perfectly.
My first thought was... hmm I plan on a case yet too. The thing is, the phone sits a bit forward so I think there is enough clearance on the back of the phone. I have my case coming ( http://goo.gl/tHhAo ) on Monday. Even if its a bit tight on the left and right side of phone, I could always take the dremel to the sides of the cradle a bit. I do not think it will require much shaved off.
It sits really nice in the dock and is very stable. Plus I put a nice NFC tag on it so it does all the auto stuff as soon as I slip it it.

Can you please please please report back when you get your case and let us know how it goes? Looking for a cheap solution like this to use at work but I'm also using this case: http://goo.gl/HfhhW
I sprung for the fancy panasonic wireless charger for home/bedside but I'd like an upright dock at work to be able to use it as a clock/newsfeed/etc.
Thanks!
So if it fits perfectly without a case I'm figuring a bumper won't work here?
EDIT: Just saw that you mentioned that, I meant width wise since the bumper makes the phone noticeably wider.
I bought the same, works perfect, use the LG charger though, the dock bundled one is 700mah
One more thing, no cases will (probably) work with this, I use w/o case.
Another thing, if you want to do that math here're the dimensions infuse 4g dimension and nexus 4 dimensions
upon comparison, seems like galaxy s3 dimensions are close match too!
the case I ordered has shipped according to amazon. I will get a picture of the base with the phone on it (with the case).
I hope I will be able to just take a tiny bit off and it will work in the dock with the case. You have to love the dremel

I have the same dock (desktop version and a separate car version) and the Google bumper. They do not work together.
I'm wondering if a note 2 dock will work with a N4 with bumper case. I'll have to do the math
EDIT: well, the Note 2 is 80.5mm width, the N4 width with bumper is 74mm. It would wiggle in the cradle.

Wait ... I currently use an Infuse and have a car dock. Are you saying teh Nexus 4 will fit?
My Nexus 4 is on order and in theory should have arrived today. I'll report back ehre when I try it too, of course.
I was debating between the Nexus 4 and the S3, and did finally also order the S3 from AT&T by talking them into letting me upgrade early.
I KNOW the S3 fits the Infuse car dock, I've used a friend's, and it would be incredible if the Nexus 4 fits as well!
Just got mine and it's great! The phone slips in and our with ease and I don't care about the slower charging speed as the pine only goes in the dock at night (so I can use the phone as an alarm clock)

Looks like it comes from the same build house as Spigen's wallet case. Like previously said, if it does the trick, I think it'd be a great case. What concerns me, though, is the mention of a magnet. That's never a good thing to have around credit cards which looks exactly like what that little insert was intended for.

What then causes the view that appears in the window to work. I am aware that a magnet over the Hall sensor on the side of the phone causes the S view to appear, what then in the S view case causes the reaction?
The S-view function certainly DOES require a magnet. It's not a magnet to hold it closed, it's a relatively small magent mounted about 1cm in from the left side near the volume down button. I had to fit one to my case with an s-view window which came without a magnet (and didn't therefore work).
A credit card mag-stripe will almost certainly be corrupted by the magnet, but then again mag-strips are dying out in favour of chip and pin or nfc. Some banks are starting to issue cards without mag-strips.

i would like to know where did you buy this cover?

i'm wondering how strong the magnet is at keeping the case closed? i don't want to drop the phone and have the case open and the phone land on the screen and break
I have the official Samsung flip cover (basically same as S view) and after three days with it on, I no longer had any issue with it not staying closed. Once you "break it in" it remains closed just fine. A month later and it stays shut on its own no problem.
I originally ordered one of $12 "Samsung" versions off Amazon. The front of the cover was the same quality as the OEM from Best Buy, but it said "Galaxy SIV" rather than "Galaxy S4" (not a big deal, maybe even a plus for some users) however, the back cover was junk. Didn't match the phone, didn't fit properly and was thicker than the OEM. I ended up selling it on Craigslist a few days later. Very happy with the OEM version and the discount I got with a Best Buy coupon. I'm considering the S view version when it drops in price a bit, but probably won't risk the "Samsung" versions on eBay and Amazon.

I wouldn't recommend the case in my picture (not the one being discussed by the OP, I have no experience of it) to anyone. The label saying "premium leather" is a plain old lie. Even gluing a magnet to the cover to enable s-view mode is only partly effective as you can't answer a call with a swipe because the window is too thick.
See my thread about it here

...to my 3D printed dock.
Slide coil in, PCB is held with double sided tape. Pretty straightforward.
A bit of PCB is trimmed off to make space for the connector. I did cut off the speaker, it's too loud for me.
Messy inside but hey, you can't see them!

And the back:
I have my SKP (Google SketchUp) files attached below, feel free to use or modify!
If you're actually going to send these files in for printing, make sure you double check all measurements!
-----EDIT-----
It appears that some of you may be interested in making one. I just made this model public at Shapeways http://shpws.me/oi3O.
This is designed to fit parts from "GMYLE (TM) Wireless Charging Pad Powermat Mat Charger". Other models may not fit and you'll have to modify.
You can download the model and make the walls thinner, engrave some text/logo, etc. The less material the cheaper it is.
Putting it together is very straightforward once you have the parts in your hand and use the the pics above as references.
...BEAUTIFUL. The routing hole for the speaker is also really well-done and subtle. Is there a cover for the bottom to protect the PCB? I'd be slightly worried about the exposed copper from the cut, unless there isn't any.
Wow...that's amazing. Far better than anything else I've seen.

Very nice, you should sell the empty dock along with instructions of how to transfer the innards, that way I think you'd be safe from copyright infringement cos you're actually encouraging people to buy the other product and not copying any of the manufacturing process.

Hey thanks, I did not make a cover, 3D printing gets expensive real quick
It's sitting on a wooden nightstand so I'm not too worried about anything shorting out.
If i ever need to place this on some metallic surface the plan is to stick a transparency sheet below with some double sided tape on the edge, this should do the job.

You are free to send the files to any shop; I did it at shapeways:
http://www.shapeways.com/model/1146133/nexus-4-qi-charging-dock.html
This is the first time I have a model printed in that material, wasn't sure about its strength so the I made walls quite thick.
With some modification to the model the cost could go down to $40 something.

s drive is a kind of like siri that acts to read out directions or messages or phone calls while activated for the galaxy. also if the map is needed you might need to take off the front. but the case does fold slim except for the latch. I would suspect most car holders would be able to handle it

In another thread a guy who owns this case said he has to take it out prior to putting the phone in the car holders, which sucks. Another user says he uses those car holders that have like a glue that dosent leave traces, do you know what I am talking about? He says he just sticks it there, but I dont have much confidence on those car holders...imagine if the phone falls from the holder and the screen breaks!
I use iMagnet dock. My dock is close to the dashboard of the car so when I leave the cover open, it's not flapping around.
Anyone know if the Genuine Samsung Car Holder will work with this case, with the front cover opened?

Thanks for that info. But I was on their site and I only see mounts for the S4 when using the Spigen Slim Armor case, not the VIEW version. Am I missing something? The objective was using the GPS on the phone with the front cover opened to the back, so we could see the maps.
Maybe it will work with those universal car holders, the ones with claws. Or the ones with that kind of glue where we simply stick the phone... anyone has tried that yet?

Thanks for that info. But I was on their site and I only see mounts for the S4 when using the Spigen Slim Armor case, not the VIEW version. Am I missing something? The objective was using the GPS on the phone with the front cover opened to the back, so we could see the maps.
Maybe it will work with those universal car holders, the ones with claws. Or the ones with that kind of glue where we simply stick the phone... anyone has tried that yet?
Cheers

Oops my apologies you're correct. I gave up on this case in the end after reading some more reviews in this forum.
I wrongly assumed that case was one and the same.
Sorry.

I use mine in a Mountek dash mount. Works fine. I'm sure the extra pressure will eventually wear the hinges on the case faster, but life is too short to worry much about that.

Hello everyone,
I'm the proud owner of a Nexus 4, probably just like you all who read my right now.
I'm really turned off by the prices at which all the motorcycle GPS are sold (they're waterproof) (ie : Tomtom Rider)
So I just thought to myself as you would expect "hey why wouldn't I use my Nexus 4 running Waze?!". Still there's the water(un)proofness of the device which makes me want to find a way to use it anyway.
There sure are some cases that are supposedly waterproof like the "ram mount aqua box 20". Yet, if i'm planning on a long ride, i'm really going to need to charge my phone. And the problem is that i'll have to open the case a little to let the cable in to charge (and I am now assuming that there is enough space to connect the cable at the bottom and close the case just around the wire... which is unlikely to be so.)
So I just thought to myself again "hey! why is it they haven't thought about a wireless charging, waterproof case?!"
That would solve the whole problem!
Has any of you lot ever heard about any such accessory for phones (even if not for the Nexus 4)?
(Oh and I'm really sorry about any english flaws you encountered in this message, I'm not an english native speaker. )
EDIT : For those who would have not got my point, this is what it could look like :

What problem??? Nexus 4 has qi wireless charging built in...why does the case need it, too? Just get any case, snap it on, and wireless charging should still work. If not, return the case and complain that it keeps wireless charging from working. But I can't honestly imagine a single case in existence doing this.
Know how I waterproof my phone?? A ziplock bag.

Hello and thank you for your reply.
I think you misunderstood what I was thinking of though.
I know that the Nexus 4 can be charged by Qi. But as far as I can tell, there are absolutely no "wirelessly" charging cases adapted to motorcycles.
I am just thinking about something like this :
on the top of which would be glued/fixed a totally waterproof case for the phone and the charging orb would have to be mounted to the handlebar with a system like this (for example) :
The big difference with a wire charging ordinary case is that you don't have to let any wire in the case, so there is absolutely no way for water to get inside the case.
It would basically look like this (with a FLAT and THIN Qi charger unlike this Nexus Orb) :
I understand that my english is ... well... not really all that good so if you want me to re-explain myself in another way, it's no big deal

You do not need a qi-capable case for Nexus 4...in fact, they don't even exist. This is because the phone already has the ability!! I think you are either using the wrong word for what you are describing, or you may be confused. There is no special case for this. It just works.

Okay I really think you're not getting my point  Thank you for your interest though! I'm going to try to say it in other words.
Alright i KNOW the Nexus 4 HAS already the Qi stock inside it. What i want to do is to charge it by Qi, trough the waterproof sealed case! So that not a single drop of water is able to leak inside the case, just because it's sealed!
So obviously the case itself, appart from being waterproof, has nothing special, The only thing we want from it is to be well fixed on to the Qi charger.

So you are just looking for a waterproof case, then?? I don't understand why all the confusing qi drawings were necessary...that's what confused me. I'll have a look, though, because I woukdn't mind having one either. I ride my bike a ton and I get caught in tghe rain a LOT more than anyone would expect. Like I said, I've always just used a zipper seal plastic bag up until now.
Most highly protective cases are too thick to operate Qi charging through. Just get a good case, run a wire through, use silicone sealant, and you'll be good.
