I got tired of waiting for a charger next to the bed. I came across this on Amazon:
http://goo.gl/TCXCw
Its the Samsung desktop charger. If you look at the image of it,it fits my nexus 4 perfectly.
My first thought was... hmm I plan on a case yet too. The thing is, the phone sits a bit forward so I think there is enough clearance on the back of the phone. I have my case coming ( http://goo.gl/tHhAo ) on Monday. Even if its a bit tight on the left and right side of phone, I could always take the dremel to the sides of the cradle a bit. I do not think it will require much shaved off.
It sits really nice in the dock and is very stable. Plus I put a nice NFC tag on it so it does all the auto stuff as soon as I slip it it.

Can you please please please report back when you get your case and let us know how it goes? Looking for a cheap solution like this to use at work but I'm also using this case: http://goo.gl/HfhhW
I sprung for the fancy panasonic wireless charger for home/bedside but I'd like an upright dock at work to be able to use it as a clock/newsfeed/etc.
Thanks!
So if it fits perfectly without a case I'm figuring a bumper won't work here?
EDIT: Just saw that you mentioned that, I meant width wise since the bumper makes the phone noticeably wider.
I bought the same, works perfect, use the LG charger though, the dock bundled one is 700mah
One more thing, no cases will (probably) work with this, I use w/o case.
Another thing, if you want to do that math here're the dimensions infuse 4g dimension and nexus 4 dimensions
upon comparison, seems like galaxy s3 dimensions are close match too!
the case I ordered has shipped according to amazon. I will get a picture of the base with the phone on it (with the case).
I hope I will be able to just take a tiny bit off and it will work in the dock with the case. You have to love the dremel

I have the same dock (desktop version and a separate car version) and the Google bumper. They do not work together.
I'm wondering if a note 2 dock will work with a N4 with bumper case. I'll have to do the math
EDIT: well, the Note 2 is 80.5mm width, the N4 width with bumper is 74mm. It would wiggle in the cradle.

Wait ... I currently use an Infuse and have a car dock. Are you saying teh Nexus 4 will fit?
My Nexus 4 is on order and in theory should have arrived today. I'll report back ehre when I try it too, of course.
I was debating between the Nexus 4 and the S3, and did finally also order the S3 from AT&T by talking them into letting me upgrade early.
I KNOW the S3 fits the Infuse car dock, I've used a friend's, and it would be incredible if the Nexus 4 fits as well!
Just got mine and it's great! The phone slips in and our with ease and I don't care about the slower charging speed as the pine only goes in the dock at night (so I can use the phone as an alarm clock)

pics coming shortly.. I grinded the sides a little and it works perfect with the tpu I bought in the first post..
Here are the pics. Its actually is hardly noticeable when the phone is docked.
Both the dock and the case were linked in the first post btw..
I plan on ordering a 2nd dock for the office..

Decided to make a small video review on the best case for nexus one . My commuter case broke. So I called and emailed otterbox. I asked them instead a replacement being sent if I could just pay the difference. They said no problem. So I searched and searched for a video and found nothing having to do with this case. So here it is .

i actually looked for a video as well, but since there were none (yet obviously) i went ahead and bought mine as well. should be here in a few days. thanks for the video though, im sure it will help others out there.
You wont be disappointed its a little bigger than I would like but very well made

The only thing I don't like and it's not the cover fault is that if the phone ever freezes you need to take the cover apart in order to remove the battery; because there is no physical reset button on the phone.
Again it's not a cover flaw more like a phone flaw.
(On the iPhone you can press home and power button and it resets)

anyone else have the problem with the silicone skin coming off the plastic lip when placing it in the holster? i find that im frequently re-seating the silicone skin on those plastic ledges.
great f%^% case though!! best ive ever had for any phone ever.
does the N1 still fit on HTC car dock with this case?
That is the major gripe with any nexus one case..... There is NO oem product that will seat with a case. Better luck with zagg invisishield
i am personally planning on turning the holster into a car holder using the garmin suction cup arm method posted here somewhere. i dont need the holster, but it holds the phone with the case. with card dock enabled by bluetooth there really is no need for the htc dock.

it is huge and thats why it comes with a holster thats made for it. i will use that holster to make a car dock that will fit the case. thats the point.
If I didn't have the OEM desktop dock and car dock I'd probably get that. I have the Seidio innocase which is pretty easy to take off and put back on. I'd be hating life if I had to take that defender off when I got in the car. The clip is cool if you use the phone while working out or running. HTC is selling cases and a holder for the N1 now too.
My Defender bought in August 16 is falling apart where it snaps to the holster, No falls or abuse.

I use the Garmin holder but didn't need to incorporate the OB holster.
This was originally done to fit my Samsung Captivate with a Body Glove case.
Slight modifications made it work for the N1 with the Otterbox Defender.
I got this Garmin holder of Ebay for like $4 shipped (got 2 for $8 since it was cheap).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170551993587
Since the Garmin is much bigger than most phones all you have to do is use a heat gun or any heat source to heat up the two end and mold it to the phone's shape.
1st Garmin holder
2nd back side
3rd mount on dash
4th mount on windshield (use for dash cam)
For my second holder I took the clip part of it and and used it with the Pro Clip that I had for my old N95.
There is already a discussion thread about the defender for the nexus and I believe someone posted a video in there somewhere....

Hello all,
I just wanted to share the Bike mount I am currently usingg for my Nexus 4.
In fact, I use the one for Galxy SIII, that I slightly modified for the power button.
The phone fits perfectly and the whole package is quite easy to install and remove.

Cheaper but nowhere near as cool, I have this and it fits my Nexus 4 and the slim case perfectly:

It was able to fit my old Galaxy Nexus, too, but the Galaxy Nexus was always harder to slide back out.

Its actually really cool in my opinion if it would fit. You could squish your sandwich behind your phone! But seriously, timbuk2 has great construction. Take a closer look at the materials and construction. Its pretty sweet in comparison.

Re: Bike mount for Nexus 4 (hint: The Galaxy SIII fots perfectly!)
Update on the Timbuk2 Goody Box... It's a no go. I finally got to see one today, and to my surprise is a lot smaller than I expected. You might get an iPhone 5 in there, but A Nexus even without any case is just too tight.
A second problem with it is that the flap at the top doesn't cover the opening to the phone pouch... So it's not at all waterproof.
Hope this comes soon enough to save someone an order...

Hi,
can you tell me what is the modification that you made in the case?, I mean, in order to use the power bottom.
Thanks in advance.
Check also here my cheap solution, for holding precisely the nexus when it doesn't have any case.

This is what I use
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008CMWY66/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can use this case with a TP case on my phone. An external battery pack also fits in the case behind it, with a mini USB cable with a right angle fitting. Its waterproof and can be used through the window and can rotate to landscape/portrait.
Rob
Thanks to both, but I had ordered the case described in the 1st post, maybe if I had asked first... now it is late. Anyway, I think those solutions can help to people who are looking for a bike mount.
Thanks!
Finally, got this "Bicycle Bike Cycling Roswheel Frame Pannier Bag Front Tube Bag Phone Cell." Purchased it on Amazon and received this about a month after I ordered it (comes from China)
I have a diztronic case and it does fit very tightly but without the case, an excellent fit.Bag attaches to the frame and stem. Has a compartment to put your keys and wallet. Will try to use it today since its been raining off and on here in NYC.

I havent taken pics of it but, the bike mount I purchased ("Bicycle Bike Cycling Roswheel Frame Pannier Bag Front Tube Bag Phone Cell)"is pretty good. Fits real snug with my diztronic case but, i take the case off. can put keys, wallet, unless its filled like George Costanza's. Reading it while riding in the sunlight is a no go unless you stopped to look at it. You can also put an mp3 player and run the headphone cord from the bag.
I'll take pics and add later.
I have now done this, see http://wechook.com/?p=135
I've had the opportunity to test both http://www.ibikeconsole.com/ mounts suitable for Nexus 4, the GS3 and GS4 models, and in my humble opinion GS3 mount is better for Nexus 4:
* It fits better, GS4 has more space in there and it is tighter (for a bigger and thinner phone), GS3 fits like a glove with no issues;
* Camera window matches on GS3 with Nexus 4 camera, when on GS4 the window is in the middle so no camera there;
* On the other hand, GS4 mount has a headphone hole in same place as Nexus 4, when with GS3 mount you are out of luck;
* Both mounts have power button lower that on Nexus 4 so a tie here;
So if You came here for Nexus 4 mount, GS3 is the one! Unless You prefer headphones over camera, Nexus 4 still fits in GS4 mount, it is just harder to close it, I did not try the waterproofness of it but it looks like it seals completely.
With the mount, we can use N4 as a GPS~~!!
It`s very nice.
But the battery may gone very fast!
Xenomix. A brand from Korea which has really impressed me with it's quality of products. It's a pain to wait for the products from overseas, but it's well worth the wait IMO. My first product was a Xenomix car mount that can be used with BOTH my N4 and N7 with it's respective cases. Granted you cannot use the car mount with the N4 and charge at the same time, but I am ok with that sacrifice. Search for my threads on the Xenomix car mount in the Nexus 7 threads if you want to look at pics there.
Then I was sent a Xenomix stand. It's a generic phone or tablet stand meant for the Galaxy S3. I told the seller to send me one of those whereas I had an idea of using it for my mad scientist reasons lol.
This was before xmas so I knew I would be getting this by the middle of January, but alas, it came in today (1/10/13).
I excitedly ripped the packaging and I found the great generic phone stand. Inside the package was a bit of rubber that looked like it was a cut piece of the soft rubber from manufacturing but I figured I'd keep the piece just in case I needed it.
Next I slid the underside of the stand out. This is meant if you place a tablet in the stand to prevent it from tipping over or falling back due to the weight distribution. I slid the LG wireless charger in the stand.
Next I put the phone right on top of the charger and guess what?!?! It holds in place and charges!!!!! Remember that rubber piece I was referring to earlier? I used a glue stick and stuck the soft rubber piece (Same material used to hold the device in the stand-its really soft) in front and used it as a anchor mount. It's not needed, but it works! Check it....

I forgot to initially mention that I have a Diztronic Ultra Hard Shell installed. I will try using TPU cases tomorrow to ensure that this setup can still be used with something a little more thicker like the Diztronic TPU case.

LOL I know I'll probably just cover the entire bottom with electrical tape to cover up the 'booster' lol.
I did the same thing at home with the Energizer qi charger lol. I have another landscape version of the this dock for the Sensation and put the Energizer pad landscape as well so that the dock won't easily tip over. Then put a rubber band to keep the charger from slipping off and viola! Another ghetto rigged stand for viewing the phone in portrait rather than layin down lol. I can post pics for that too. Not that pretty either. LOL

Well the thread was initially created when I ghetto-fitted a dock to fit the LG pad, but looked really really tacky lol. This looks a bit more cleaned up and more like something I would buy if created lol.
For sake of saving face a bit, I just deleted the old pics and lil write up I did on the ghetto-fitted dock, I replaced it with the write up you see today .
Thank you!! I ended up picking up two of these docks and I'm now using them with my LG chargers. $30 for both stands and now I can use my charger as I always wanted. The cheapest charging stand I could find that had a decent angle was a Nokia on Amazon for $67 at only 750 mA. This solution was PERFECT for me! Thanks very much for posting!

I have the orb at home... Works well, but the angle isn't steep enough at times. I looked at the Tylt VU and had the same issue. Angle was a little low for my needs. Plus, I have the LG chargers just laying around, so they can now be used again!
After I got my N4 I started looking for 2 things: a case and a car dock, the case eventually came to be a Rearth Ringke SLIM case which has some minor issues but overall is a great case. As for the dock I was looking for something that would allow me to use the phone with the case so I tried several (including a couple of GPS holders that just didn't work). Eventually found this car dock:
http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Universal-Dashboard-Windshield-Motorola/dp/B008ALV0V4
The Aduro U-GRIP, for me it is a great product for 3 main reasons:
- Very small footprint, you don't have a snake-like tube sticking out of the windshield with a base to hold the phone, this dock is really well thought out from a design standpoint.
- It grips the phone without fear, this thing is not going to drop your phone, not ever, you can plug the charger and the phone won't even move or swivel. Potholes? pff, this thing eats potholes for breakfast!
- Even though the grip is quite strong it can still be used single handed, you don't have to use 2 hands to open the grip and place the phone or to take it out.
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and have no complaints whatsoever, I thought I'd share my experience and point of view, I know many want a non-intrusive car dock and I think this is one that can meet such demand and add a lot of value at the same time.
And because it is basically a grip-type of dock you can use it with your case and with any phone for that matter (within limits) which means my wife can use it with her Galaxy S3 (also with the case) without a problem!
For the price I think this is a great buy.
I own it too. It is definitely the best car mount out there. Excellent built quality and very strong grip.
I just ordered one last week and it arrived yesterday. Love it! To ease one-handed inserting of the nexus I stuck a dime in between the arms while they were spread apart. Super easy to insert the phone now and its still grips like a mudda.

Does this fit with a bumper? Also it supports charging/car mode?
It does fit with a bumper (any bumper!) and the dock does not charge the phone but it won't obstruct the connection to charge it.

Yep they are OK. But I really don't like the fiddling with grip things.
A bit cheaper and simpler, I got one of these for my Desire HD and it works fine with the Nexus 4 too.

I have it attached to a standard car vent mount and it is rock solid. I was always a bit dubious about how well they would hold a phone but it just does. I got one for my Galaxy tab and it holds that too, so I have absolutely no worries about the phone coming adrift.

HI all,
Just upgraded from a GSIII to GS4. Now I need a better fitting windshield mounting dock. For the GSIII, it was general knowledge that the AT&T Samsung INFUSE 4G dock fit the GSIII and it did for the most part. I really like the slide up into the phone style USB port, so I have no cables to fuss with. I know there's Qi charging but I am not going there just yet..
The S4 barely fits into the INFUSE dock but it takes being very gentle and very slightly bending the dock for the phone to snap in.
I am open to other ideas... suggestions?

I am very happy with my iBolt dock. I purchased mine off eBay and the dash mount disk kept falling off. Oddly the sticky pad stuck to the dash but the disk itself would come off. I called iBold and they shipped me a new one without hesitation.

Looks really nice but 1) as mentioned I'm looking for something with a USB port that slides into place... which is much easier than a cable attachment. 2) I'm more of a portrait kind of layout person.

As for your first request, I agree and wanted the same but could not find one. I have however come to appreciate the design, as that cable is stiff and holds itself in place so it's easy to pop in place, or not if its a short drive. Additionally, I've found the micro usb port on this phone is very tight and I have difficulty getting it to slip into my home dock, it has to line up exact. Lastly, with the aforementioned design of the port, it would impossible to accommodate the plethora of case size variations.
As for portrait view, that is totally doable, it rotates. Anoter neat feature is that the camera is not covered so if you desire, you can snap pics or video of that &%@$ driver in front of you.
No, I don't work for, nor am compensated by iBolt, though I should be. Just a happy customer.

The Craigsdock dock is the best I've tried. It is slim looking and has built-in charging and you can dock/undock with one hand. And it has a charger, did I mention that? Not one where you have to manually insert the charging cable like the iBolt makes you do. This is more like a very-slim-looking Infuse dock but without the audio and bulk.
You can swap out the existing cable for a USB-audio cable or anything else.
Costs a bit, but it'll last a lifetime and works with all large Samsung phones from S3 to S4 to Note II. So you don't have to upgrade your dock every time you upgrade your phone. And it also works with all the bulky cases too.
I've tried all the docks from Infuse to iBolt to generic and it's the best I've used yet.

It sounds like a ProClip might suit you well. I have been using these holders with various devices for about 10 years. I don't have my GS4 yet, so I can't comment on these ones specifically. However, I can tell you to expect a high-quality product that fits the device perfectly. Check them out:

This one's doing the trick for me, it's closest to the GS3 iBolt dock.

Hi all,
I've ordered the iBOLT xProDock. I'm sure it is fantastic and will certainly do the job. That said, it is quite expensive. This should hold me over until and if Samsung or anyone else makes a dock similar to the lovely Infuse dock with the "slide into place" USB charger.
This should also come in handy for those many times such as this that I get a new phone and am stuck without a suitable dock.
Another vote for the iBolt. Ordered it for my S3, been used for One +, One and S4. Great little system! And their support is great!
Surfing the Web a couple of days ago I come across this http://www.kickstarter.com/project...ergy-worlds-best-wireless-smartphone-charger
