Looking at /system/app/ there's an app called htcringtonetrimmer, obviously for cutting ringtones, but actualy, there's no such app or option, I could find. Any suggestions?

There's a ringtone widget, but just selects the phone ringtone. And should be able to trim...

When you select a song from your music gallery and select set as ringtone, then you get the option to trim the ringtone. This option opens the ringtone trimmer app

Does anyone know any good roms where you can set individual ringtones for contacts. I tried a few and can't seem to find one.

Thanks everyone. But im running cm7.1 rl and it wont let me, even when I go into edit contact.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Try ringdroid
That is because of the contacts app, use a 3rd party to set ringtones. I use Whoisit. It controls your notifications like nothing else I have found. Well worth the money. There are a few free apps like the one newter suggested that allow you to select personal mp3 files for ringtones. Some custom roms come with an app already built in.
I'm Currently running NINJA 716 which is based on CM and i can assign custom ringtones to different contacts on using the default contacts app. When you go into a contact hit menu then options and assign a ringtone.
i also tried this on my sister cliqxt running CM7.1 RC1 and it works
To select a ringtone for an individual contact in cm7 go to view the contact hit menu and choose option there will be an option to set a ringtone there.

Oh yeah. Duh. I tried hitting menu as I was in edit mode and it gave no options. Totally forgot to just select contact an hit menu. Now I can rove the other apps to save space. Thanks everyone

I can't seem to find it in my app draw. It's still listed if I open up apps under settings, and its also shown in TiB. I have my phone rooted and installed the .82 leaked ruu. But NEVER debloated the voice recorder. Ideas ? I use it frequently on my last phone

att made it inaccessible, but there is a way to get it on your homescreen. Get es explorer...open and go to the 5th menu button over "app manager" I believe. Then click on "category" at top and click on "system files" in the menu that pops up. Scroll down to the voice recorder and hold it until you see menu pop up...choose shortcut and it'll put the app on your homescreen. There is no way that I know of that will actually put it in your launcher though.

Using a third party launcher puts it back in the app drawer.

Anyone notice HORRIBLE recording quality?
I recorded some clip of me playing some acoustic guitar and it sounds like ****... like gurgle gurgle.
My GS II Skyrocket recorded it quite well.
I downloaded a 3rd part recorder and same thing.
anyone experience this?

/replying to old post but maybe someone else will be looking for an answer/ Default voice recorder produces horrible sound quality because it saves the clips in a low quality 3gp format. If you're looking for something better, there are some 3rd party apps, that allow you to save audio, for example, in wav(es).
Hey... this is a pretty basic question... but is there any way to add a widget into a folder?
I want to have my music control widgets in a folder, not directly on the home screen. Don't think it's possible... but figured I'd check. Thanks!

You can use apps to accomplish this, like:
Widget Folder,
SwipePad with the WidgetPad add-on,
or Wave Launcher.
Thank you!

I've given myself a headache over this. I have a custom ringtone I want to use as a notification tone. Easy enough, put it in the folder media/ringtone/notifications. Don't show up. I do a reboot, still no dice. There is no + like in phone call ringtones to add a new one. I'm lost haha. Any help? Seems so simple, just a new ringtone!!
Sent from the best d*** phone I've ever used
Create a folder in Memory SD card with ES File Manager.
Open File manager go to the SD card, and create new folder named as “media“(without quotes).
And open the media folder, and create another new folder named as “audio“.
Then open the audio folder and again create 2 new folders. One is “notifications” and another one is “ringtones“.
It must be in this path- SDcard> media> audio> notifications
Move the tone that you want to set as notification ringtone to the notifications folder.
You can also use the ringtones folder to set the ringtones.
After that, go to Settings> Sound> Notification Ringtone.
Now you can see the custom tone that you moved earlier to the notifications folder.
If the moved tone is not there, then restart your phone. Then check the ringtones settings. It might work. Has for me.

May have to go ogg. Or check orginal files to see what format they are and try matching. I never had a problem with mp3 or wav. Are you on a sense or aosp? Sense may be conflicting.

I have googled and it told me what you said. No other solutions but I'll keep hunting.
Sense. I hadn't thought about that... I'll wipe caches and if that don't work I'll reflash the Rom on running (venom)
Edit: clearing cache did nothing. Wiping and flashing now...

Just pulled a notification from viperxl. It's a m4a format. I will see if I can convert and get on to work on viper when I get home.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Viper will not let me change it. Even tried renaming it to notification already there. I think it is a size issue. Maybe someone can shed some light on this because I have become very curious but do not have the time at the moment to investigate further.

Don't know if this helps. But I use ring droid. Its a free app from the play store. I downloaded the "droid" sound bite. And now I use it for SMS. I would suggest doing that and then looking in your notifications.
Sent from my Carbon-ize Evita using xda-developers app
I tried it with Zedge and Ring Droid on Viper. As long as you download tone it will show up. But if you put it in folder manually, it will not show. Uninstalled because Viper doesn't like android apps. No problem on Chameleon.

I think what he meant was replace that file with a ringtone you would like to use. Try that.
If not, my guess would be to decompile Hangouts and change it manually. :/
