Help getting back to stock - HTC One S

I'm planning on putting my phone fully back to stock. I just have a few questions that I can't find answers to, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Background
S4 Version
HBoot: 1.06*
Bought the phone second hand, it was carrier unlocked and already rooted etc.*
The phone CID says orangeuk, but*I use 3UK Network.*I'm going to have to use SuperCID before I flash the ruu, because there is no orangeUK ruu available.
1.**Is the HTC_001 the best CID to use for ota's and ruu files?
2. When I re-lock bootloader and flash ruu, will I lose the carrier unlock?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app

I dont have an answer for 1 but im pretty sure about 2 that carrier unlock wont go. Once you unlock it it stays unlocked

Right, this is my plan to get back to stock. If anyone has any better ideas please let me know!
1. Change radio 1.06es version to match ruu radio (read somewhere the ruu might not run if my radio is newer, currently 1.11)
2. Change CID to HTC__001 to run 2.31 WWE ruu.
3. Re-lock Bootloader
4. Run 2.31 WWE ruu
5. Update software via OTA to JB.
6. Carrier unlock phone if necessary using code created while rooted.
Questions
Do I have to flash stock recovery or will the ruu do that?
Can I run the 2.31 WWE ruu from hboot 1.06, or do I need to use 1.53 ruu as that has the same hboot?
I assume the OTA will also update my radio to 1.11?
Thanks

The RUU should update everything. Including the stock recovery, Hboot, and radio. I already Rooted the One S. Then unrooted. Then rooted again. The only thing i will mention....
Make sure you have the stock Boot.img first. Then use Fastboot to load the boot.img. then you can flash the RUU. Good luck

[Q] Recovering to stock...which RUU for me?

I have an At&t HTC One X that I bought from a licensed store in Jersey.
I used a hex editior to change the CID so I could use HTCdev to unlock the bootloader (so my current CID is Roger001, which was not the original CID). Currently installed CleanROM 4.0.
Want to get back to stock to return phone...what information do I need to provide so that someone can tell me what RUU to use? In settings I see build number 1.85.502.3...hboot is 1.09.0000...radio is 0.17.32.09.12.
You can relock your bootloader then change your CID back to CWS__001 using the same hex hack method you used to make it a ROGERS CID then run the 1.85 RUU and your back to stock. One thing is your bootloader will still say relocked at the top but there is nothing you can do about that but hope they don't look at that and deny you.
Link to the 1.85 RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670238
So I hack the CID back, lock the bootloader, and run the RUU mentioned and that's it? I figured my hboot version, radio version and all the rest of it would lead me to a different RUU than the one you pointed to...
When you RUU back to 1.85 it will flash everything to the 1.85 versions.
If I lock the bootloader, how do I change the CID back? When I hacked the CID and used ADB my phone was on with the ROM loaded and plugged in...If I lock the bootloader, I can only get into the hboot screen...can I still ADB push and pull from there?
And if I'm planning on flashing the 1.85 RUU, do I need to change the CID at all? Can't I just lock the bootloader, and then run the .exe?
Locked bootloader and then ran the 1.85 RUU you pointed me to...received error 131...back to Hboot with a locked bootloader...any suggestions? Y'all made it sound so simple...
Because you didn't change Cid. Error 131
You can still unlock then push a recovery then from that recovery put a rom on the phone and flash. Use twrp.
So from here...unlock bootloader...then push twrp recovery...at what point do I change the CID and run the RUU to get back to stock?

after you have a rooted ROM on it and can access the proper partition with a hex editor to change the CID back after that you can relock bootloader and run RUU
This is why you get nexus, just flash stock images

Returning to Stock few questions.

So I am returning to stock from this build:
ROM: CyanogenMod 9 RC1
FIRMWARE: 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x
Radio:/ 11.22.3504.07_M
Hboot: 1.27.1100
And I have a few questions because reading the guides just didn't help me:
1. I can't understand completely the name of the RUU's: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe
1.27.401.3 - is this HBOOT version?
10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15 - This is radio but why does it have 2 values?
192183- What is this?
2.
If you have S Off, this doesn't matter, but you should always try to flash the oldest RUU, so that it is easier to S Off later, unless you don't intend to perform S Off again.

I am S Off and I want to return my phone to S-on for warranty purposes then S-Off again so I must flash the oldest RUU right? If it is this is the situation how to determine the oldest RUU by HBOOT version?
3. Firmwares? What about them does the RUU overwrites the firmware should I downgrade firmware before flashing older RUU and can it be done? Is there such thing as firmware and RUU compatibility? If there is which firmware corresponds to which RUU, the firmwares have version that are not mentioned anywhere else?
4. Which RUU's I can flash and which I can't? I mean what should I look for to be suitable? Should I install RUU that has the same HBOOT version as mine or I can install older like I am ICS and I want to install GB RUU so I can S-Off easier latter?
So I am a little confused about downgrading and picking suitable versions of everything.
I decided to try without matching anything just downloading the RUU with the oldest hboot and flash it. It's RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe and my device info is in the beggining of the thread. So in FASTBOOT i run .exe and I get
error: -5001. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.

Is the problem with compatibility or something else?
Okay seems I've asked too much. Well I want to understand all those things but for now this is what I need to know:
Will flashing this RUU: RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed.exe
On this Phone:
ROM: CyanogenMod 9 RC1
FIRMWARE: 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x
Radio: 11.22.3504.07_M
Hboot: 1.27.1100
Will be successful and can I S-off and Root again easy latter?

1. RUU naming convention
RUU_Pyramid_<an extra LE in the name if XE>_HTC_<country/cariier>_<rom main version>_Radio_<radio version>_release_<release version>_signed.exe
dont bother about release version ..we dont need that
the only concerns are ..
country/carrier -> which determines the cid
rom main version ->explains whether youy are on GB or ICS (lesser the version ..older it is ...only between same country/carrier RUU's)
radio version -> tells the radio
2.oldest RUU ..ive explained earlier ..the main version should be least ..but this comparison is only valid if the country/carrier matches
eg:
in case of
RUU_pyramid_tmous_1.52.xx
and
RUU_pyramid_europe_1.27.xx (you cant say which one is oldest)
3.no firmware questions when we are talking about RUU (firmware arises when you talk about custom roms)
RUU has everything ...it wipes everything and converts it to stock (RUU cant touch the SOFF and CID though ..they can be changed only manually ..i.e. by we doing it manually by commands)
4.which RUU ..is you decide by CID ...
if you are supercid ..and dont know the original cid
you need to select the RUU based on your country and carrier
there is an excellent guide on RUU and it explains everything
here is the link to it ...do read it
(it helps you in finding right RUU too )
RUU RELEATED INFO AND FLASHING GUIDE
also remember by flashing RUU ..you wont lose SOFF ...unless you change it manually ..to know how to change it please refer the above guide
also i believe this answer ..answers your second post questions too
Thanks a lot! But I still got the problem with error I mentionted in the 1st post (error 5001) I tried with 1.27 and 1.28 HTC-Pyramid-Europe. What should I do is flashing through safe mod possible.

im confused
did you mean you solved it ? or are you asking me how to bypass that error ?
anyways
you need to keep the phone connected to pc in bootloader/fastboot and then run the RUU.exe
Also ..if you did HTC-DEV unlock ..relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock) and run the RUU.exe
I can't solve the problem. I connect it in bootloader/fastboot and try to run the RUU.exe. And I did revolutionary S-OFF.
Hey no idea that
error: -5001. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.
is pretty annoying.
What is the CID currently on the phone ?
The RUU with xxx.401.xxxx IRC will require SuperCID (11111111) or a CID of HTC__001.
1.27... will end up installing HBOOT 1.17.0008 (just gone through the process on my replacement replacement phone.
As mentioned earlier you'll keep S-OFF and your existing CID after installing the RUU.
As far as the comms are concerned have you got the latest HTC drivers on the PC ?

I've recently run a few RUUs on my phone to get to a state where I could have a carrier backup, just in case (I forgot to get one immediately after S-OFF/custome recovery, doh). At no point did I re-lock the bootloader, I unlocked it (HBOOT 1.27.0000) and it's stayed unlocked the whole time, always worked perfectly. I also didn't have the phone in bootloader/fastboot mode, it was just on the home screen, again worked perfectly. I guess YMMV.
I am super CID.

regarding RUU running normally ..you should have usb debugging enabled ..and need to have proper drivers too to recognize the device ..
running from fastboot no hassle there.. (most 155 errors can be prevented from running from fastboot)
couple of people were thrown error 99 when they ran RUU with unlocked bootloader ..so relock is a safer bet to prevent that error too

Will at&t ruu 2.20.502.7 will work on supercid 1111111 at&t hox to get back to stock?

Will at&t ruu 2.20.502.7 will work on supercid 1111111 at&t hox to get back to stock?
I am having at&t htc one x bootloader with :
**** tampered ****
**** unlocked ****
evita pvt shp s-on rl
hboot-1.09.0000
radio-0.19as.32.09.09_l
opendsp-v28.1.0.32.0504
emmc-boot
apr 2 2012,21:08:24
installed twrp 2.2.0 recovery and stock rooted rom 2.23707.2 asia generic.
Now the problem is, i am facing the mobile signal(not wifi) dropping issues and i have to revert back to at&t stock rom, i have downloaded the official at&t ruu 2.20.502.2.....exe,
but i am concerned with the doubt that will the ruu will work 100% on supercid 111111 without any problem after relocking the bootloder or do i have to revert back the stock at&t cid, and if yes then what is the procedure to revert back the stock at&t cid???????
If you ever want to unlock the bootloader again leave the cid alone. BTW you can just flash the radio from the new ota if you want. There's a thread in development section with radios

thanks for the help, appreciable. But i don't want to flash just the radio, coz i already did that, but it did not solve my problem. So the question still continues..Can i run Ruu with the current supercid 111111 or do i have to revert it back to stock???
SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH. ITS NOT MY FAMILIAR LANGUAGE.
You don't have to change cid to flash the ruu just relock the bootloader

Absolutely Right, i am not on 2.20,

Sir this is not about 2.20 or 1.85, i just want to confirm is, if running a ruu on supercid 111111 will work 100% or do i have to revert to the region's cid of the ruu am using.
I dont want that ruu should get interupt by any reason nd i brick my phone coz i dont have any warranty or insurance on it.

your question has been answered multiple times.
SuperCID will allow you to run the 2.20 RUU. The reason we're cautioning you is because once you do that, you will lose the ability to flash new radios at all and you'll have to flash a kernel in fast boot.
Also once you do this update to 2.20 you can't go backward to 1.85 even WITH SuperCID because the update includes a new HBOOT.

ok what will happen if i extract the rom.zip from the ruu and will extract and replace the hboot with earlier one and also the recovery with custom one and will rezip it and rename it as PJ83.img and will copy it to storage and run it in the current boot loader. will relock it before running the process.
Will this work and will i b able to flash the stock rom with same boot loader and custom recovery?
I AM AWARE INSTEAD OF DOING THIS I CAN JUST FLASH THE STOCK ROOTED 2.20 ROM FROM TWRP BUT I JUST WANT TO INCREASE MY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND WORK.

won't work because RUU's include a signature check and if you alter the files in any way, that signature check will fail.

can u suggest me the best radio for better mobile signals? (i am from india -region asia)

[Q] RUU Based on Hboot 2.15 ??

Hi there, I want to go back to my factory ROM by RUU, but all of them fails by error of 155. I think it´s because of my Hboot in version 2.15 (I´ve no idea how did it came to my phone, maybe because of some of the custom Roms I had). So do you have any idea what to do with that ? I expect that without S-Off I cannot downgrade Hboot. So is there some RUU based on this ? And how can I recognize it ? Thank you
(I have changed CID to HTC__001)
Edit: I found some version for S3 Ville .. but I have S4, which I can´t find. Any ideas ?
I'm looking for a compatabile RUU as well for my Hboot 2.15. My CID is GLOBA__001
Any Help would be appreciated.
i think S-Off can also let you run an RUU no problem... (ie without CID change)
But remember you have to flash stock recovery and then relock bootloader before attempting to run RUU (with S ON), and make sure you have the correct CID too before relocking, etc.
You should be able to run an RUU with the same level of bootloader, just not one with a lower version, with S ON.
So the euro jellybean version that has been posted on the One S forums should be an appropriate RUU.

need help

hey guys. one problem.. i want to go back to stock ROM. i am supercid and s-off so i understood that i can use any RUU, but i downloaded one and failed because it says get the correct ROM update utility. i locked the bootloader too.
i have maximus hd atm , so which RUU should i use?
Hboot 2.16
Radio 1.20
supercid
s-off
Did you run the ruu while your phone was in fastboot mode? Otherwise the downgrade won't work.
Edit: As you already said, it doesn't matter which ruu you take since your phone is S-OFF. If you try to run an ICS ruu be sure not to install OTAs if you're on superCID or you're going to brick your phone.
